Deceptive site
Check People do not present the charge clearly at all. It is hidden in the small text towards the bottom as part of a large amount of text with a gold block. I don't recall ever associating the color gold with "warning" or "alarm". I perceive the color gold as beneficial or more wealth. In that sense, the exclamation mark still makes sense.
The clickable link that charged me was a large, green button that does not mention clicking it will cause a charge. Nor did clicking it give me the option to allow my card to be charged.
The very simple request for a refund was difficult to do and exposed some very concerning matters about your charging process. They claim I had to either accept the $6.99 charge, but the button reads in large, very readable letters, "CONTINUE… YES, I WANT PDF REPORT ACCESS!". It does NOT say, "I AGREE TO PAY $6.99 FOR PDF REPORT ACCESS!", and that is what the button assumes I am doing.
Multiple calls, no refund. Don't go there.

SCAM ALERT!
These people are crooks, cons and thieves. Check People offered at trial for 4.99 for unlimited reports. Then charged me 7.00 to download the pdf's.

The information is (at best) inaccurate, possibly libelous. They have "current" addresses and phone numbers for people who've been deceased for YEARS. The numbers and addresses were NEVER theirs but, various friends/relatives. They have conplete strangers listed as "associates."

On top of all that, they make it hard as hell to find out how to cancel and then, charge a month even when you DO cancel. I cancelled on June 23rd, they charged 49.99 the same day and when I complained they tried to convince me to keep the service at a discount. I still said no and they tell me that my subscription will in on July 23rd. No. I don't want ANY membership to their fraudulent company.

I notified my bank, had my card cancelled, have to wait for a new one, and am having a hell of a time getting the charge stopped.

DO NOT USE THEIR WEBSITE!

Beware of deceptive subscription pricing
BEWARE of unbelievably deceptive pricing! Check People advertise the report as a one-time $1 charge but in the fine print they sign you up for a monthly reoccurring charge of $30 if you do not "cancel" within 3 business days. There is no mention on their website that you are being charged after you accidentally sign up. No mention of a credit card being on file or any mention of recurring monthly charges like any other website with a subscription model. The fact that you can't cancel on the website or see that you are subscribed to a monthly charge on the website is a clear indication that their business is dependent on people not knowing that they are being charged. In fact when I go to the website it asks me if I want to "enable" monthly reporting when in reality it has been enabled all long without being reflected on the website.

I'm out $90 because of their shady business practices

Crooks!
I went on this site to check to see if a current business associate is a felon. I paid $4.99 on my CC for this and received whatever was available, whether it is legit, who knows, since obviously Check People fraudulently bill your CC for unauthorized charges!

The following day I was alerted by my CC for a possible fraudulent international charge. I spent almost an hour trying to reach their CSR department. After reading them the riot act, the girl actually had the audacity to ask me if she could offer me a discount off what they billed me fraudulently! WTH? How about you refund that $49.99 before I have you arrested on theft by taking charges? My credit card company was notified of what occurred, my account closed. If that charge isn't reversed within a couple of days, I will be filing fraud charges. I am so over the internet crooks!

Great customer service
I was recently looking for someone close to me whom I lost touch with many years back. I came across Check People through a simple google search and had some questions about their services. I had to call the customer service line and was promptly greeted by a young friendly lady who took her time answering my questions and addressing my concerns. Although I was originally reluctant to sign up and try the site, I ended up giving it a go. It was very easy to use and I was able to find the individual I was looking for very fast. The site offered extra information which was all correct to my knowledge as well. Great results and great service!

Waste of money
The website said I had 10 minutes (with the clock counting down) to use coupon to view the full background check for only $1 after I'd just spent 5 minutes waiting for it to load. So I scrolled up and down to try to see the fine print or the catch and/or terms. I didn't see anything. So I assumed it was probably for the first month only, so I'd do just make sure I cancelled it before it renewed at full price. So I pressed okay and gave my card info. I was instantly charged $29.17 and then when I looked at the PDF to view the actual report I wanted to see, it charged me another $6.99. I called a few days later when I got a chance to cancel the account (because you can't just cancel online, you have to call and sit on hold for 10 minutes to be able to cancel the subscription) and was told that it clearly told me I had 3 days to cancel it or I'd be charged the full amount and then was told if I wanted to view the PDF of the report I had to pay for that convenience also, because I could've just gone to the courthouse and got that information if I wanted to.
I just wanted to do one background check to find out what convictions were on my boyfriends record so he knew what to inform his employer of. Which if you want to discuss that, the charges that this website showed on his background check were false, half of them were charges that had nothing to do with him. Check People said these reports are an educated guess based on computer algorithms when provided a name and date of birth. So the whole thing was a waste of time and money. They didn't refund me any of my money, all they did was try to talk me into keeping my subscription but for a lower monthly rate. I would never use this site again. There's plenty of other websites that provide the same service and clearly tell you what you're going to be charged and why. It's the sneakiness that pisses me off. Tell me what you're going to charge me up front and let me decide if I want to spend that.

Worst online background check site yet
Check People trick you into purchasing literally nothing. You don't get a service you don't get information, You don't get a product you get billed and told that there is nothing they can do because you Don't realize you're agreeing to let them charge you an astronomically large amount of money for something whether you receive it or not. And if you cancel your account like most people when they find out they're being charged so much for nothing they then charge you two separate other charges for monitoring even though you have no account and you're getting no reports monitored. They are garbage. Should be put out of business.

Total rip off - don't use this company
This company is a rip off - dont use them!

Don't use this company for background search. Nov 24 I did a background search on a possible roommate, was charge 2x $7.00 and $29.16 (overcharged by $28.00). I called them to dispute the charge, 1st time was was the same day and the rep couldn't find my order, called a day later and the csr found the order, knew about the mistake. Claimed that there was a problem with there billing system. By then I had already filed a claim with papal. Was told by the csr from Checkpeople that I had to close the claim and once Check People were notify by paypal that they would refund me the money.

Now its been more than a week, I closed the claim with paypal, received notice that the dispute has been closed from paypal.

I just got off the phone with Checkpeople csr rep Tianti (rep # 1484610) in the Calif office, she claims that now I have to get paypal to call them to say that the dispute has been close. Paypal considers the matter closed because I closed the dispute.

This company is a rip off dont use them!

Wonderful marketplace
I started my own small business of buying and reselling items on Facebook marketplace. I browse online for good items and when I know I can resell it at a better price I turn to Check People to look up this individual first before reaching out to set up an in person meeting. It lets me know in advance that this person is legitimate and honest before even contacting them. Then if the negotiations go through, I don't even need to hesitate to go and meet them or worry about my safety because I've already used Check People to come up with the important information I needed in advance about that person.

Bait and switch
Awful experience and I'm still paying for it. I wanted info on a particular person. Found them and intel said Check People had two criminal charges - or whatever the wording was. So I took the bait and signed up for the $1 intro offer. After signing up and opening all their info there were NO criminal charges on this person. What?! The old bait and switch - I fell for it! Then my card was charged $27 and not the $1. Plus an additional $6.99 for wanting a PDF of the report.

BUT to top it off I started receiving spam mail within hours after giving Check People my info. I haven't received this type of disgusting spam mail in years. I've reached out to Check People about removing my email from their list and stopping selling my info. It's been over a month and I'm still receiving spam mail.

Scam Company
This is the worst company l. Don't waste your time. I paid the $1.00 and all I received was my phone
Number. If you pay $2.33 a week you get your address. I called their 1-899 number and spoke to a Rubin Gutierrez who assured me my 2.33 would be returned and for my trouble in 2 hrs I would receive a link for a free background check. Never received that and the next morning I checked my bank not only did Check People take out the 2.33 I never received a background check. Free of charge because of my trouble with them. I called next day spoke with a supervisor Christine in the Orlando FL scam office and she pretty much said too bad. I called my bank and they are putting this through the fraud division.
All I can say is Buyer Beware. A Major Scam Company.

I found someone so dear to me through this service!
I found someone so dear to me through this service! We hadn't been in touch since high school, and I thought I would just look online to see if I could find him, and checkpeople helped me to narrow down the search and pinpoint the exact person I was looking for. Although I was hesitant to use the site at first, I read some reviews and decided to take a leap of faith and try my luck. So happy I did. I don't think I would have been able to find this person without using checkpeople. If you're hesitating at all, take my word for it, it works! Now I'm going to look up all my old dear friends and try to reconnect.

Beware of this company.
Same experience as everyone else. Check People talk about a $4.99 charge up front. No where else does it talk about other charges. The funny thing is once i authorized the $4.99 charge at that exact same second i get an email for the $4.99 receipt and a fraud alert from my cc company for $7.00. After reading reviews it looks like this company will wait about a week and charge an additional $44.95. I just called my credit card company and and disputed the $7 charge and shut my credit card down. Now i am stuck waiting 10 days for my cc company to send me a new card.

Scam! BIGGEST HEADACHE OF MY LIFE!
I signed up for the 7 day free trial, canceled after 3 days and Check People continued to take $29.15 for 3 months. Everytime I called customer service they would sound like they wanted to help you but in reality they aren't. The weird thing is the employees sounded like they from India but when I asked what country their from, he said Florida, thats BS! I had to call my bank and they had to take charge. Don't go through what I did. Their are plenty of other reviews on this site that say the same thing, I wish I would have read them before this nightmare. You've been warned. The other positive reviews are probably from employees that work there.

Almost got scammed
Got on here to get a report for one person it said it was going to cost me $1 thought that was alright so I did it checked my bank account later and saw a charge for $6.99 had no idea what it was for I figured it was for a subscription even though I never saw anything about a subscription I wasn't to alarmed figured I'd check on my account t or call them to find out when I had a moment until I checked again and saw another charge for $29 from them so now we're almost from $1 to $40 somehow so now I'm like alright I need to call them before Check People take anymore of my money this was only over a 2 day period the guy from customer service was pretty helpful only reason I gave 2 stars he got me my $29 back but said the $6.99 was not refundable said it was from where I got the pdf option even though it never stated anywhere that it was charging me extra for that he said that I must have looked past it and I'm like no it never said it or asked me to agree to it when I was checking out with my card information it said $1 that was all so I did not get that money back and apparently it did set me up for a subscription even though it never said anywhere that it was a subscription I couldn't even find anywhere on my account that said that or anywhere to cancel it so I just told him over the phone if I'm subscribed go ahead and cancel it for me hopefully they don't try to take anymore of my money and I don't have to call them back this is not the right way to do business be honest about your service and the cost of it so people know what they are spending do not try to scam people also the information I got wasn't even very good if someone isn't secretive you could more then likely find it on social media for free

Bullsh**
I'm pretty upset after agreeing to a 1$ fee for a 24 hour background check I was charged 44.95$ for the month. Check People do not let you know upfront, you have to read the terms and agreement, which I didnt and it's my fault for just giving out my debit card number like that. But it doesnt end there. A few days later I got a 21.95$ charge from experion which I have NEVER had any type of account with them. So now I'm a little over 60% in charges for crap. I never have gotten an unknown charge, so to coincidentally get a charge from experion right after the charge from checkpeople doesn't seem to coincidental to me. PLEASE cancel your account if you do the 1$ background check because theyll charge you a pretty hefty fee if you fail to do so. Dont give these motherfuc**** your money.

Scam Subscription Miner
This site purports to charge $4.99 for a single background check. In reality, Check People enter you into an automatically renewing $49.99 monthly subscription. There is no notice of this until a month later when the charge shows up on your card. The site makes no mention of the subscription and has no cancellation link. It is designed as a revenue miner to get people who don't monitor they're credit card charges in detail. I had the call and threaten criminal charges to get the subscription I supposedly entered into dropped. A very shady and underhanded operation.

I'll use it again in the future for sure.
I'm in the process of trying to find an apartment and roommate on campus and it's very hard to trust who you're speaking to on the phone or over the internet. Check People is great to go through possible prospects ahead of time. I find results to be very detailed and gives me exactly what I'm looking for. Then when I meet with these people, I can verify that they're telling me the truth and I have the reassurance I need to make my decision. Another student I know suggested I use this site and I'm really happy I did. I'll use it again in the future for sure.

Great Customer Service
I was getting ready to send my wedding invites and noticed my fiancé was really slacking on getting his portions of the addresses. He felt awkward asking friends and family for their addresses and even more weird asking colleagues who he didn't know THAT well but still wanted them at the wedding. I read on a wedding blog that another bride used check people for this reason and I thought HOW BRILLIANT! You know their names and cities where Check People leave, save the awkward conversation and find the address information yourself! I was able to find everyone I was looking for and got all the information and address information needed to send my invites without hassling my finance or guests! Really smart and I'll be sure to share this with other soon to be brides.

Other reviews scared me, but I had a great experience.
My husband and I used this site to check out his fathers very shady past. We were nervous at first, and during!, because our credit card company gave us an alert asking if it was us... meaning its a flagged site by credit card companies. When we finished looking through the information, I sat down with the phone and prepared myself to wait on hold for 7 hours and finally battle out a cancellation with someone in another country. I went into complete shock when a total sweetheart answered with her thick southern accent and quickly helped me cancel my account in less than 5 minutes. At this time I am not sure if my account was charged extra fees or not, but so far everything seems okay! I will update my review if my credit card ends up getting hacked/scammed!

Crooks steal your money!
Check People said that it was going to be a dollar then it was 2.33 so I call and canceled it before they charged me more well I never said it was ok to charge me 6. Something NEVER DID I SAY OK TO 6.and something THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY AND TURN IT AROUND TO MAKE YOU THINK YOU SEID IT THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE PUT OUT OFF BUSINESS I SAW WHAT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU GAVE THEM A F for Fail HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LOOK BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU DID TRY TO SHUT THEM DOWN!

Very Helpful
I'm in charge of planning our school reunion this year- although it was pushed due to the virus. I used Check People to find everyone from our graduating class and was able to obtain and verify their addresses to send them the physical invitations. Sometimes its hard to make sure you have the right person just with their name on social media, so I use this site to make sure I'm finding the exact match for each individual. It really helped me to speed up my process while making sure I was finding all the accurate people I was looking for.

Scammers and rip off artist
Scammers and rip off artist Don't worry I'm the smart one on here I got in touch with the FBI with their online scammers and credit card fraud division since Check People say oh we can find out if anybody you know works for the FBI or DEA they were very interested so now they will have the FBI breathing down their neck's once they tap into their site and you know they are computer wizard better than they are or ever will be At this very moment they are typing into the website especially when I told them that I can find out if somebody works for the FBI or DEA or has a concealed permit which is a no-no if anybody wishes to file a class action lawsuit get in touch with me at *******027 let's sue these bastards trouble damages plus time and lawyers fees

Extremely easy website
This website is extremely easy to use and the results are very detailed and accurate. A colleague of mine suggested I look into Check People and I'm happy I did. The website is so easy that anyone can use it. My first search I did was on myself. I wanted to see how the results were before beginning the searches I had to do on numerous individuals. The results I found on myself were so accurate that I knew this site was perfect for my specific needs. The billing structure is clear and fair as long as you're planning on using the site frequently, which I intend to do.

They steal money from customers.
I was told I accepted a charge of 6.99 to download unlimited reports. The only thing is, I read everything. There was no option to accept or decline this feature. I definitely didn't download any or even consider downloading an option. Buyer beware, Check People will take your money, thievery at its finest. For anyone willing to look, you will find some 5 star reviews are obviously repeated. Different names a few months later, same exact reviews and stories behind the positive remarks.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I joined first for $1 - which I was unable to use. Then I paid $4.99 and was able to use it.
I was charged $7.00 for a PDF format - which I was unaware of... Check People said it was on the account - but I would have never paid $7 for PDF. THEN I was charged $29.16.
On the good side: i spoke to two people there this AM (Sunday) and the first person, Dimitris, refunded the $29.16. Then his supervisor, Kristin, refunded the $7.
I just check on FaceBook, and even tho they said ti would take 5 to 7 days to appear -
AND, guess what, it is already refunded.
BTW - the information was not useful - I already knew the info they offered me.
STAY AWAY - don't waste your time and money.

SCAMMMMM
This site is a scam. I signed up for one dollar and ended up with a 30 dollar charge. I called, because that's the only way to supposedly reach them. It was a woman and there was a baby crying in the background. I told her that what was going on was dishonest and she was going to refund my money and cancel the account or I was going to report fraud on my bank account. After offering a ton of discounts (I no longer trust you so what makes you think I want to give you any money at all?) she asked why I was using the service (I lied because it's none of her business) and then the refund was in my account as soon as I got off of the phone. A few days later, the end of the month, I saw a 1 dollar charge from them on my account. So I called and (surprise) didn't get through (don't do the call-back option). So then I replied to the account confirmation email, which worked and put in a support ticket. Waiting the 24 hours for them to get back to me. The email Check People don't want you to know about is *******@checkpeople.com if anyone needs it.

A GREAT SCAM

Great service
I use this website almost every day for my work to run a quick background check on job candidates at my company. The reports Check People release are pretty thorough, with names, family members, cities, and even some criminal background, so you get a full picture of the people you want to hire and bring into the company. What I love most is that it's so easy to use - I just type the name of the person and the city (the last part is to get more accurate results, though if you don't know the city or state you can browse through the list and still find the person you're looking for). MAJOR SCAM - DO NOT USE - HIDDEN FEES - NON REFUNDABLE
$1Trial period for 3 days. Check People also charged an additional $6.99 for one report - Non-Refundable, of course... plus a $29 monthly fee preauthorization. Called immediately and waited on hold for 16 minutes before foreign operator named "MIKE" - LOL, answered. Said there was a checkbox authorizing the $6.99 for reports. I never could find it after trying to recreate it. He offered two different offers for cheaper monthly rate to stay a member, but I cancelled anyways. This company evidently has to hide their fees.
