Coleman furniture has been the worst buying experience of my life and that is saying a lot after Art Van ripped us off for $1000 worth of product never received due to their abrupt closure. I purchased an entire bedroom set in July 2020. This is now 7 months later with no bedroom set. I have continually received "updates" that my furniture is delayed and will be an additional 2-6 weekend depending on the email. I was never informed that my order was back ordered, just that there were manufacturer delays. I assumed these were mild delays at first due to covid, which is understandable. I have contacted Coleman furniture many times and all Coleman Furniture can say is that it's the manufacturer delay and they have no control over this, yet they refuse to give me any contact information for the manufacturer. After months of these delays, our card was officially charged in January, which I confirmed with a Coleman employee meant that our product was ready for shipment (this information is also on their FAQ page). I was assured by this employee that our furniture was scheduled to ship 2/2/21. When I did not get a shipping notification, I then contacted the company again on 2/3/21 and was told they had reached out to the manufacturer and our order was "ready and currently loading for shipment and was expected to ship out early the next week". I then contacted the company 2/9/21 (early the next week) to get a specific date that our order would be shipping and was told that they had reached out to the manufacturer again and "per them, the bed, nightstand and chest will be available 2/11, while the dresser would be available 2/14 and that all items would be shipped together on 2/14". I was then updated on 2/12/21 that "We have reached out to the manufacturer and as per the latest update your order is expected to ship early March. Unfortunately, as of the moment the manufacturer is unable to ship due to parts unavailability." Which is infuriating because I had already been told that my order was ready and being loaded for shipment so that was a flat out lie because now they are saying that they are still waiting on parts. Which they should not be at all since they already charged me card, which is only supposed to happen when the order is ready for shipment! This is per their own website information! So I'm left with continuing misinformation and no accountability, just hoping that I can finally get my order that I have paid for.
I placed an order for a sofa set from this company on April 14; 2019.
It arrived on May 10; 2019. Love seat was so incorrectly manufactured that I right front leg was about 2 inches above ground and I could slide my hand clearly under it.
I immediately notified Lori,? At Colman and she tried to convince me to accept the Sofa and wait for them to repair the love seat. She kept on reading me the right act about terms and conditions and kept on sending me emails as shown below below:
"... Per our conversation, per the terms and conditions that you agreed to at the time of order submission, Coleman Furniture has the right to address any issue should any issue occur. (See full terms and conditions by clicking here IExcerpt from terms and conditions: DAMAGES Coleman Furniture (CF) makes every feasible effort to make sure that your order arrives to you in perfect condition the first time. However, you are advising you would rather cancel the order than allow us to remedy the issue, therefore, you will be responsible to pay a 15% restocking fee and actual shipping charges to return the product. As I advised I am gathering the fees and will send them to you..."
I REJECTED the entire set and did not sign for it. Placed a claim against Colman with with my credit card company. Best thing that happened.
I wrote several emails explaining to Colman and Lori? That incorrect manufacturing is not considered DAMAGE as outlined in the contract that I signed and I was not going to accept a repaired product. Rather a new replacement product.
I then checked the BBB site and found out there have been over 350 claims over the past 3 years against Colman Furniture ( some very similar to my case) to the point that BBB had issued an advisory. If I had looked sooner; I would have likely not purchased from this company.
Finally after initiating approximately 15 phone calls and exchanging around 15 emails; Colman notified me that a new Love seat has been ordered and will be delivered to me. NewLove seat and previous sofa arrived at my house on 5/23/19. Thirteen days after original delivery and a lot of persuasions on my part.
I like the furniture and it is functioning well. But two things were really disappointing.
1- customer service is less than adequate. I had to keep initiating the phone calls to resolve the issue and obtain status and put up with the client rep throwing irrelevant terms and conditions at me. 2- Original love seat should have been rejected at the manufacturer or at the warehouse where the shipping boxes were removed and product was placed in the truck for local delivery. Colman should not have put me in a position to reject this product. I would have respected the company a whole lot if Coleman Furniture had called to say they are rejecting manufacturer product because it is not meeting their standards and I have to wait 3 more weeks.
I was hesitant to buy from Coleman's because there are some pretty bad reviews about them on 1 or 2 review sites. There are also some really great reviews though, so I wasn't sure which reviews to believe. But, I am glad that I went ahead and bought from Colemena's because I had no problems at all. I ordered the Ledelle dresser on 9/20 and it was delivered on 10/12. The shipping company emailed me when it reached their warehouse and said it would be 1 to 2 weeks for delivery. However, I got a call and email from them the next day saying they wanted to deliver to me the following day. Perhaps it was quicker shipping for me because there are Ashley's warehouses in Houston. I'm not sure. But, overall I don't think the wait time, from order to delivery, was too long. The shipping company brought it right into the living room where I wanted it and took all the packaging off of it so I could check it before they left. Overall, I love it and would definitely buy from Coleman Furniture again. I may even buy the matching nightstands that go with the dresser I bought since I like the style so much.
When the delivery driver called the third time to reschedule, I asked for his managers information and he told me "I don't have a manager, I'm my own driver" okay.
Well Coleman Furniture showed up the next day to deliver our furniture and told my husband they only had 15 minutes to put it together. My husband asked them to remove their shoes in our home because we have white carpets and they didn't have the shoe covers that the company promised us they would have. This was so inconvenient to them that they asked my husband to help them move boxes so "they wouldn't have to keep removing their shoes" ARE YOU KIDDING? THIS IS THEIR JOB!
Well, they began removing the pieces from the boxes and proceeded to tell us that it was going to take 3-4 hours and they didn't know how to do it because there was so many pieces and that they didn't have the time to do it. So they began repackaging it and proceeded to leave trash in my house and blowing all around my yard and my husband had to request that they pick up or they were just going to leave it.
They said they were going to return the furniture to the manufacturer and it would be delivered the following week. Well it's the following week and the company is still trying to figure out what happened with the delivery, the drivers and my furniture. I was also told I would have to pay a cancellation fee if I wanted to cancel at this point. This must be how they make all their money. I have no idea how much longer it's going to take to get my order and I am disgusted and appalled with this company. They have thus far blamed everything on the "delivery company" and it seems as the delivery company is blaming everything on the furniture company. No one wants to take responsibility for the negligence that occurred surrounding my order and everyone keeps placing blame on others.
If you took the time to read this review, please do not order from this company. Spend a little bit more with a REPUTABLE company!
It all started when I ordered a bedroom set and a bookcase on 9/25. Then I decided to order a living room set, but I found the same set cheaper at Orlando Furniture. Now although Coleman's says Coleman Furniture have a price guarantee, they refused to honor the price match saying it would cut too close to their profit margin so they were going to pass on the sale to me. I already had credit approved for Coleman, so despite the bitter taste of feeling cheated, I went ahead with the order which was only about $100 more than Orlando Furniture. Plus, the sales person claimed "white glove treatment." Mind you also, my purchase was over $1,000. So if their profit margin is that thin, the company should be worried.
It is now 11/16, I still do not have all my furniture - missing a dresser and I have a bed with no hardware, and the company could seem to care less. Call and ask to speak to a manager like "Cierra" and you'll get the apathetic cold shoulder with vague promises the company will look into it.
So why have I not received all my furniture?
1. Shipping company may get an incorrect phone number for you, or thus was the claim. Yet the shipping company clearly called me with someone else's delivery named "Melissa."
2. Shipping company may get the wrong email address for you. Why? I don't know. I got the bill, how could they muck this up?
3. My wife went into labor, I had to reschedule one time. This one was on me.
4. One delivery was incomplete. Got a bedroom set that was missing a dresser that no one can seem to find and a bed missing hardware. So it is back to sleeping on the futon while they try to find the parts to my bed. In fact, they sent me an email asking for a picture of the problem... demonstrating a complete lack of empathy. I took a picture of the empty space where my dresser would be standing and a picture of my unassembled bed.
Unfortunately, no updates from Coleman on when I will get my remaining items. The "white glove" treatment is more like someone in some latex gloves slapping you with a wet fish over and over again. Because yeah, all of the above may not even be the craziest part of this never ending debacle.
One 11/13 when the delivery company was delivering my living room set, the called me at about 7:20pm and asked if they could make the delivery at 9:30pm. It was a bit late, but I said sure. It wasn't until, and I kids you not, 11:51pm after I had fallen asleep they called and said they were running late and they wanted to make the delivery around 1am. I told them no. They said okay and the delivery would be at 8am tomorrow. Call after call from me to them with no answer the next day for the 8am delivery. Finally around 11am I went to work, then they called, apologized saying they over slept and was at my house...
Oh, and good luck returning something you don't like. That bookcase I bought crumbled before the first book even hit it. They wouldn't take it back. Bought a piece of Sauder half the price from Amazon, still standing today full of books.
Never, ever, buy from this company. I wish I was making this story up. Crazy. Unbelievable. You'd think after so many issues rhe company would offer some sort of rebate, money back, something. All I get is nothing and no updates on the still remaining missing pieces! The furniture is great besides the bookcase, the service is the worst I ever had in my entire life!
Edit: As of December 4th, still no update on the dresser. Had another false delivery for which the company again apologized (the shipping company came to my house, when I called and asked why they said it was a mistake and they didn't have anything to deliver...). Coleman said they would give me a $50 refund on my order which is about 3% of the total order... while I still wait for the pieces of my bed to arrive, I had to go get a temporary boxspring to put the mattress on. The nightmare order continues without end.
Edit: It is now January 9th, I recently received the missing dresser, but it was badly damaged. The company did offer some financial compensation for this. However, the delivery company came to set up the bed, and they did not have the instructions! So they left, wasting more of my time. A second attempt was made to set up the bed. This time they had the instructions, but the company discovered there are more missing pieces. So 3+ months, still no bed to sleep in. The nightmare just won't end with this company. I cannot stress enough how bad of an experience this is and overall.
Coleman Furniture appears to have good furniture and I am sure that it is but when they say customer satisfaction is their top priority, that is a complete LIE. I ordered a full over full bunk bed with trundle for my children in November and I have yet to receive this furniture. The company in which was supposed to deliver the furniture was extremely incompetent and appeared not to know what they were doing. They lied and said they attempted to deliver my furniture and that was not true because I was at home all day waiting for them to come. Then after talking with Cierra, Customer Service person, this was not customer friendly as she talked aggressively with me but to my surprise we agreed to get the furniture redelivered at no cost to me. Well the 2nd attempt to deliver the furniture was still a totally disaster. The driver came to my home with the furniture but did not have tools to assemble the furniture then they did not have all of the pieces for the trundle bed and a part of the furniture was damage. Again after talking with Cierra and then her supervisor, Lori, came to no surprise that CUSTOMER
SERVICES SUCKS! For a company to say that total customer service satisfaction is their top priority, again total LIE. They wanted me to again allow them a 3rd time to make my order correct and I refused. They then want to charge me for shipping and restocking fee. Again wrong on all levels because this was not my fault that your delivery company is incompetent and the furniture that was shipping to me was damaged and missing parts. Yes I think I could have allowed them another chance but as I mentioned to them, how many times should I give them to fix a problem when I was only given one chance to pay my money. I will never do business with Coleman Furniture and I will shout to the world, to my friends and family, social media and everywhere to let them know the same. GARBAGE on all levels, CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS on all levels as well.
Give me a $100 credit to find my own repair person to fix all these issues. They stated I should have had this written during delivery. Well let's see we are human and when we get something new we get excited and may overlook a few things. So I went to Ashley and showed them the pics and they said the leather wasn't normal and should be replaced or repaired. Thinking that Coleman furniture would stand by their products I guess I was wrong. Most horrible customer service ever. They are leaving me in the dark to fend for myself. I truly believe they sell refurbished or Defective furniture. Cause if it were new like they claim it to be I wouldn't have old looking leather on my couch and the electronics on my power leather sofa would be working properly. When I have bought furniture from rooms to
Go they would stand by their products and keep the customer happy. Unfortunately Coleman furniture doesn't not. I spent $5000 and I'm being treated like I bought from the 99 cent store. I will never buy at Coleman furniture ever again. I would rather spend a little more to get treated like a human being not like a dog. Funny I just read several reviews that people had the same issues as me. Stand by your product send your own technicians to repair issues just like rooms to go, Ashley and many other REAL FURNITURE stores would. Next I'm rating on BBB. I called several times and no one seems to want to help the right way.
Again I was informed that my vanity (without the stool) would be shipped out in 1 week and that it would take 1-2 weeks for it to arrive at the delivery company. This was on February 9th, I finally got tracking and shipping information emailed to me on February 20th stating that it had finally been shipped out. It didn't arrive at the delivery company until March 14th and then it didn't get delivered until the following week...
After over 2 months of waiting my vanity finally arrived, Damaged. One of the corners on the counter top were broken, there were scratches everywhere, hooks on the back of the mirror for jewelry were missing, the screws for assembly were missing, and there were no lights which were stated in the details of the product, which when I called they told me it didn't come with and that the details were regarding a different product in that bedroom set not the one I purchased. (then if its for a different piece of furniture in the set why is it in the details of the vanity?) They told me there was nothing I could do about this and that it was my fault for not understanding.
At this point I do not want this broken vanity, I tried to return it since its broken and I don't want to have to wait another 3 months for a replacement, I inform them that I want to return it and they tell me that I will have to pay a 15% restocking fee and shipping costs in order to return it. Are you kidding me? The vanity was $851... It should not have taken this long nor should it have been damaged, I am not willing to pay shipping or 15% restocking fee, I inform them of this and then tell them to send me a replacement then, the whole product because the only this that isn't damaged or missing parts is the glass... They tell me they are unwilling to do this and that my only option is to have a technician of their choice come and repair the vanity, (I don't know how they are going to be able to repair all of the damages since the corner is literally broken off) and that they are shipping out all the missing parts. Sending me the missing parts, and having a technician come repair it are going to cost the same as the 15% restocking fee and the shipping costs so I don't see why they wouldn't just do it that way but no they want to make it as difficult as possible. They have terrible customer service, and are unwilling to compromise with me. I will not be ordering from them in the future, and I would never let any of my friends or family order from them. They were just rude, and unwilling to work with me to resolve the issues.
We placed our order online at the beginning of April. Customer service in the beginning was fine. I received an initial call from someone at Coleman acknowledging my order and the person informed me that I would receive frequent updates from them regarding my order. After that initial call, I did not hear anything else, unless I called them!
I called Coleman Furniture sometime in late April and was told that I should expect my furniture by mid-May. Mid-May, no furniture, no updates. I called and Coleman Furniture told me my furniture was on back order until end of June. After expressing my frustration with the long wait, ultimately, I decided to not cancel my order and just wait a few more weeks. Finally, my order was scheduled for delivery 6/16, but, that's not the end of the story.
When my furniture (power-recliners) was delivered, they did not have the electrical base needed to operate my recliners! The driver and I called Coleman Furniture to let them know and I was told that they would send me the power unit right away and email me with confirmation of the shipment.
I received a call from someone at Coleman that same day and they left me a message needing to "verify shipping address". I called the rep back several times last week and left messages to return my call, but, no response. Why would you need to verify my shipping address when you should have all of my information?! Didn't you just send me some furniture?!
So, now I'm still waiting on my power unit... It's been almost 3 months now since I placed my order online. WORST online shopping experience I've had in a while and I'm surprised this company hasn't gone out of business yet.
They have some bogus customer satisfaction rating on their website indicating a 4.9/5 customer satisfaction rating! WHAT A JOKE! If you read most of the other Coleman Furniture reviews on Yelp and other sites, you'll see what I mean.
