I’ve put in a complaint 8 days ago, because D&G misled us by giving us a repair & care plan for our boiler which they claimed was an annual one but turned out to be a years’ worth of payments paid in 6 months (£300) then they automatically renewed it as soon as the 6 months was up, charging us another £24 a month without ever getting our permission. We were misled. I can get no explanation why they did this and also am struggling to get a written record of my boiler service, despite calling twice about this. You get passed around a multitude of call centres and none of the agents have authority to help. I was on the phone 90 minutes to different call centres today. The agents are badly trained and talk over the top of you. My callout took 4 days with no hot water during that time. Avoid at all costs as the service will cost you a fortune as we have experienced! Abysmal service!
Run away from this company as fast as possible. Between D&G, Whirlpool and Hotpoint, they can't arrange an engineer revisit to save their lives.
I got passed from call centre to call centre saying they can't help, just kept getting asked to try calling a different number.
The icing on the cake was the last number they gave me was no longer in use.
It's Frankensteins monster of insurance companies. Will definitely leave before my next renewal and I won't look back. They are not worth the money I'm paying.
Tldr: avoid at all costs, I beg you.
Put claim in for TV on 16th Feb. Engineer came out and fiddled with it and said he's fixed it. Turn tv on later that evening, still same issue but now something else is wrong too. Call back and get another engineer out. Comes out and says he needs a part. Books another appt. Comes out and says he need ANOTHER part. This time, about 5 inches of the screen is missing. Tells me another part is needed. This time engineer doesn't call in the morning to advise of a time of arrival so I call. Promised engineer is booked in for the last appt of the day. Get a call at 4 to advise he is stuck in traffic. I've raised a complaint at this point and advisor asks me for one last chance. Books appt for Thursday and promises to call me on the Monday. Engineer arrives and needs another part. I laugh at this point. I wait for the call and then call back on Thursday only the advisor isn't in and new advisor begs for one last chance as part is already in. I make it clear that I know the part isn't in and its a stalling tactic. One final chance. I waited in today. Stressed as needed to get to hospital appt and arranged for someone else to sit in for me. Nope, nothing. Nada. Zilch. I work in finance and confidentiality is so important so can't work while engineer is here. I've missed so much work. Do they care? Do they foook!
They cancelled my policy after taking direct debit payment 2 days later and not allowing it to run to end of month as promised. Given the run around. They promise excellent service but don't deliver. Absolute rubbish service. Cannot recommend and will be looking elsewhere in future.
Hi im writing this review because i feel so annoyed with domestice and general, who i have been a custermer with for over ten years and i wouldn't want anyone to experience the terrible service that i have had. When my whirlpool microwave developed a loud electrical buzzing noise i rang domestice and general, who arranged for it to be picked up by their repair agent, who then returned the microwave to me 10 days later. When it was returned I asked the driver to wait while I try the microwave as soon as I switched it on there was aloud buzzing noise and it went on fire. I rang domestic and general and told them what had happend. They said that they would email me a choice of similar featured microwaves as a replacement. I was offered the wirlpool modell W7MW 461. When I looked at their brochure online, it showed that the 18 programs which it had were well lit and easy to see; which is important for me. When it arrived, I switched it on and found that the 18 square programme pannel had no backing light as I thought. Of a night, it is extremely difficult to see, unlike what was advertised. I called Domestic and General and explained the problem, who said that because i had switched the microwave on, that it couldn't be returned as it was classed as used. As a loyal and long-term customer, I am very disappointed with this.
Tried to get a Whirpool fridge freezer repaired. Was talked into buying one of their many insurance policies by a persistent sales agent. Pretty much everything they have said since these has been misleading, confusing, expensive, contradictory and time-consuming. Even the complaints procedure is a labyrinth. Terrible experience, avoid like the plague.
Absolutely rubbish service I would definitely recommend all not to book appliance cover with Domestic and General. We’ve been paying for years and the one time we needed to book a repair they tell us to call Indesit directly who tell us our plan does not exist. Ridiculous service, rubbish company. Would never have cover with them again.
I would give them ZERO stars. Repair has been cancelled twice. Called them to try and get s resolution and was told I'd be contacted by the escalation dept. Except I wasn't. They've just rescheduled without any contact with me. I have tried calling multiple times and have been hung up on three times. They just lie to try and get you off the phone. Don't bother.
Our washing machine broke 3 weeks ago and we made an appointment for an engineer to visit and diagnose the problem one and a 1.5 weeks later. The enginner advised us that a part was needed to be ordered therefore we received a call stating that an engineer would visit this morning with the part and resolve the issue... this is three weeks after notifying them of the issue. Engineer turned up with no part and stated that he did not realise that he had to bring the part with him and that it would take possibly another 5 days. We contacted Domestic and General who has written our washing machine off however refused to provide us with vouchers to go and purchase a new machine straight away. They insisted that they would send us a link via email within 2 hours for us to select a new washing machine which matches the spec of the current washine machine. Low and behold we have received NO link 7 hours later. Telephone contacted Domestic and General and they apologised for 'leading us on' earlier however we should receive the link at some point. We have four children whoch creates a mointain of washing and we habe had to have the inconvenience of asking family members to use their washing machines during the last three weeks. Please do not ise this company. They do not care as long as they have your money!
When I purchased my £999 Macbook Air via the John Lewis website I also purchased Domestic & General insurance for accidental damage.
I had spilled a liquid over my laptop and I sent my MacBook Air in for repair, and after three weeks, I received my laptop in a flimsy paper envelope with dents all over it. I had received the laptop in WORSE condition than when I had shipped it.
Even worse, the laptop had not been repaired. There were no indications that the laptop had been repaired at all.
It's been more than two months since I sent my laptop in for repair, and it still hasn't been fixed.
After filing a complaint about my broken laptop, I contacted Domestic & General support (nearly 3 weeks after filing the complaint), and they had the audacity to lie to me over the phone. They claimed that the laptop repair company had made "several attempts to reach me." This is a blatant lie because I read my emails on a daily basis, including the junk folder.
They then lied to me on the phone, claiming that they had "called me earlier" and that I had told them that I was "unavailable”.
I had never had a call from them before, and I had informed the support representative of this, who was quick to deny it and tried to shrug it off.
They further claimed the flimsy envelope was "Apple approved packing." I've had many repairs done in the past, and this was NOTHING LIKE the packaging my laptop is typically packed in. This packaging would never be approved by Apple, as there is no bubble wrap to protect the laptop.
They had requested that I forward images of the dents on my laptop which I have done so and it has been 18 days and I have not got any update.
I purchased insurance for peace of mind but the service I have experienced has been the complete opposite. Instead I have been without a laptop for over 2 months and I have had lies fed to me the entire time.
My feedback to Domestic and General: Please assist me in resolving my issue; I want a fair and timely resolution that will satisfy me.
NB: Please see attached images as proof.
Between domestic & general, and Baxi they manage to wiggle their way out of repairs, they swear black was white to avoid accepting liability, this behavior is bordering on unethical, nothing new there then, I think reviewers say it all, there are plenty of companies out there that offer competitively priced plans, who have generally good reviews, this is my personal opinion about these companies, so please do your own research before forming your own option
It is the worst moment when I bought the insurance for my kitchen appliances. The fridge was replaced by a smaller size one although I paid extra to get the correct fridge. They never admitted that it was wrong. 2 years on and I am still struggling to get the correct size fridge to replace the one they sent to me.
My 86 year old mother has been left for over 3 months waiting for a thermostat for her fridge freezer. The latest date they were due to receive the part was 11th March when I get a call saying that they still do not have the part, and no date for delivery. You complain and are just told you can cancel the policy if you do not wish to wait. Disgraceful service
Do not buy their appliance cover its a scam
I had all my kitchen appliances on your cover. Called you because my dishwasher wasnt operating correctly and damaged. engineer visits on a number of occasions, still waiting for parts, I make a complaint and you write to tell me the machine functions correctly and I am satisfied with the repair. If I was satisfied I wouldnt have called you...no time scale for the parts or repair and currently 30 minutes on hold time to your laughable customer service team....I have an appliance currently held together with insulating tape and the company tell me its fine.
Dear Sir / Madam
My Aunt Mrs May Butler
who is a customer of Domestic and General. In January Mrs Butler’s Fridge Freezer broke down she called Domestic and General to inform them so they sent someone to look at her fridge freezer but they said it was unrepairable so Domestic and General agreed it needed to be replaced and they will replace it . Mrs Butler chose a fridge freezer and it was meant to be delivered to Mrs Butler . When it finally came the delivery people took of the packaging but found it was damaged it had a big dent at the front of the fridge freezer so they had to take it back and arrange to deliver another one .
we are now in March and still Mrs Butler have not been sent her fridge freezer . Domestic and General said they are going give her a £100 for the inconvenience and arrange for someone to come and measure Mrs Butler’s doorway to see if the new fridge freezer she chose could fit when delivered this has not transpired no one have come to measure up . A hundred pounds is a pathetic gesture considering it’s been 3 months . This situation has distressed Mrs Butler she is a elderly disabled person , still she have not got her fridge freezer it has been now 3 months this is unacceptable and unprofessional .
Mrs Butler have now made a official complaint on this matter and she is also taking legal action as Domestic and General have breached their own policy
I waited one month for an engineer to come to see my dishwasher. He didn't even look at it said he was writing it off as part discontinued. It was Siemens slimline stainless steel. The replacement options were white and Indesit or when after calls and having to use chat the option waiting for an hour alternatives were added all 60cm full size with an additional cost if I wanted silver!. My appliance was full stainless steel. They said they didn't need to replace with something that was worth the same when I asked why they offered me a £229 machine when I'd paid over £500 for mine. I've now been palmed off with a dishwasher that nowhere meets the spec of my old either in looks or function. So not sure what they base like for like on. Very disappointed feel very cheated by D&G
I am a established landlord & have been for over 20 years. I insurance are property appliances through different firms to get the best prices. I recently cancelled a policy with domestic & general & got a renewal reminder & telling me not to worry we will reinstate your direct debit. I did not authorise this & I been trying to contact them via email phone Etc. Can’t get hold of them. So I have had no choice but to leave this review I hope the sort they selfs out as they are going to be losing customers.
No reliable bad service with very little help from staff Just promises excuses and no results.since the 18/2/22 without a w/m !1st they said only appointment available on the 1/3/22 the engineer came 4 hours late called me to complain about one way system and no parking outside my door (central London) and left .trying to communicate with them impossible .waiting for hours being pass from one to another .gave me another appointment for the 9/3/22!!! who knows if they find parking this time!!!!rubish company
I tried to register a warranty for new boiler in England, UK today. Rang your customer service - they took my name and address but DID NOT TAKE BOILER SERIAL NUMBER and i was told the boiler is now registered. When i asked for confimation reference number - they did not have one and the customer service agent hung up. This happened 5 times. I had to ring the manufacturer who will be escalating this - Domestic and General are probably not keeping their side of Service Level Agreements with the Manufacturing company. Domestic and General Your customer service team needs to be sacked !!!
Never buy a customer extended care plan from ApplianceOnline.com.au, that's my lesson learnt. A screw inside my dishwasher fell off because they became rusty. Rust is excluded from Domestic & General irrespective of any context. This is a screw inside the dishwasher that's meant to be rust-proof.
