As a beginner, I was able to find jobs easily with Freelancer
As a beginner, I was able to easily find jobs on Freelancer, despite my lack of certification or degree and earn a good amount from it. As a C/C++ programming hobbyist, my first month on the website I was able to get two relatively high paying projects. And at the end of the month I earned almost CA$ 1k which I consider good for myself as a newcomer. The only problem I had is that basically the project owner controls payment, so one of the clients didn't pay me at all, even after I nearly completed the work and was disrespectful because what he was asking was not doable in the time frame he wanted and went beyond the initial requirements. It was originally listed as C++ reverse engineering, in reality it was a game modding job which included image editing for more than dozen different sprites. My only option was to cancel the job, but my time was completely wasted. The project owner can talk to you for a certain job, then ask more from you, or when you have completed the job ask you to lower your bid, or decide to not pay you at all.

When I ask a question its unanswered. I asked if the utility bill be accepted. Freelancer sent these

Prefered and verified freelancer
Hi
Thank you for having me chance to give my feedback here. Freelancer.com is a good platform to earn money. But there are 2 big following issues.
1) Please secure your freelancer's milestones like Fiverr. Like a couple of times client did not release money after completing the project. There would be 3 days for clients to answer the freelancer, if he will not answer, money should be released itself.
2) Some time we need to put a dispute against the client. There would be no option for both (client and freelancer) to give feedback. As you know, who will give positive feedback after dispute?
Even one of my project someone awarded me project. She said to me to start work. But i insisted to create milestones first. She closed the project and left a bad review (some abuse) all are in the record in chat. I requested to remove this feedback to freelancer support center. He removed on text and not removed whole feedback and when left on 1 star out of 5 starts.

This site is a pure scam
I had the worst experience with this website, I had 2 projects as a freelancer in this website and both went bad:
1- My first project:
After the project was completed and delivered later the client
Managed to withdraw the money probably through his bank so the milestone
Was reversed and I have lost my money.
2- My second project:
After agreeing with the customer on the milestones I have started working on the project and completed most of the required work, but then the client changed her mind and wanted to add extra requirements or to cancel the project, I tried everything with her but she was acting in a really nasty way with me, so I have canceled the milestone to end the project but
She left a negative review on my profile and 1 start rating. The website then wanted me to pay the fees for that project although I didn't receive any payment for the work I have done. When I have contacted the support service with screenshots of the chat Freelancer just closed my ticket and did nothing about it.

In summary:

1- The website has no secure payment system, after completing a project you can lose your money if the client called his/her bank and asked to cancel the transaction.
2- prices for the projects are very low and most of freelancers there compete over price.
3- No customer support for freelancers, you can submit a support ticket but they will simply close without doing anything about it.
4- The website policies are completely biased against freelancers. They will charge freelancers for projects even if they didn't receive any payments.

Freelancer procedure
Thanks you for having me for your review and hope this would benefits of both of our businesses, out of my experience I wish if we make like the following arrangements (I'm not interfering in the policies I'm just suggesting some of effective let's call it style or procedure to stop fraud people, such as holding the hiring for the freelancer till checked by the support team what I mean here not to wait till the freelancer to report, once the client hires any freelancer, his approval to be holds till checked the docs and or the directions to the freelancer which will stop the try (like what happens with me I almost scammed twice) but when stopped I will b protected not wasted my time reviewing especially like my case so new to the plateform) I know I should read the instructions and tips and tricks and tips on the plateform but also this will keep me safe as new user and would make me feel safe ans encourages more to stick to freelancer plateform. This is just a suggestion you may take it into consideration or not but it's will be a great move for the new users, I know my experience handled very professionally by Judith J, which I appreciate so much abs her bearing with me you should hire more of Judith J, out of an experience as a freelancer, try to communicate with the clients through the platform not outside this way you'll be safe
Thanks freelancer platform for everything

Thanks

Freelancers fee and refunds
I am not all that long on the site of Freelancers.com and have had just bad experiences with all the clients that have contacted me due to the bids on the jobs Freelancer listed. Some first try to chat you up in giving you their personal contact details for further communications, then give you a file to go and select the project you would like to work on. Nothing like on the website. When you agree, they claim to keep the position for you but you need to fill out a form and pay a security fee. All this happens off the freelancers website. When you agree, they will then award the job to you to accept, once that is done, they hit you with more contact cost. This result in Freelancers.com to take their fee automatically without knowing at that stage that the client is still trying to lure you for more money.

I have reported all the clients that has conned and still trying to con me. Freelancers support has been great in assisting and deleting such clients job listings etc. They also promised that they will refund the freelancers fee. I did not expect the fee to reflect in my personal account in 2 days and to the cent! Well done guys! I really do appreciate that you guys doe take the best interest at hear of the freelancers on your site. Thank you again.

Why I would never choose freelancer.com again
On January 5,2021, I created a contest on freelancer.com. The contest was to design a logo for my real estate investment company. The 1st day I was so excited because I had so many entries that had came in. But after searching other websites I noticed that most of the designs were just duplicated logos with the name of my company placed with it. I notified freelancer.com about the issue and was told since it was a GUARANTEED contest that Freelancer were unable to do anything about it except to give me a "7 day extension" and a "top contest upgrade." I asked for the "Top contest upgrade" but at the end of the contest it was clear that it did nothing to help the situation. Every one of my top choices were unoriginal. The worst part is I had other contestants showing me proof and giving me links to find where the unoriginal so called designers were finding designs to use. But the people that were telling on others were doing the exact same thing. I know $317.74 doesn't sound like a lot but I would rather keep my money instead of throwing it away. I asked for a full refund but was only offered a "7 day extension" and giving a "TOP CONTEST UPGRADE." I declined and responded that I will make it my duty to warn others about this site.

Unprofessional, Unreasonable, Immature...
Made false accusations about me and freelancer policy.
See screen shot where he told me that it was normal to pay him up front and he had to pay state fees first prior to starting job. I later found out these were both fabrications. He kept repeating himself many times throughout the chat so there was no way to reason.

(He had convinced me that I was supposed to pay him up front.) When I went to pay, freelancer.com said not to pay up front unless I was satisfied with work. I confirmed this and did not release the funds for he had not started yet. Yet he disputed me for a week until he lost the dispute.

He then kept asking me to pay his acceptance fee of $50.
He also stated he was in Florida, yet I later see he if from Kenya. I asked several times why the discrepancy, He never explained.

It was a ridiculous situation and has unfortunately discouraged me from trying this site again. I ultimately lost $15 for the milestone.

Also, very poor communication for a professional. Almost childish.

Long process
I did not like that every single email I sent was to a new customer service rep. It makes it hard to fix the problem when the conversation is restarted every email. The emails were often informative, however I didn't like the information within them. I was more upset by Freelancers policy more than the customer service. When creating an account the instructions were VERY vague and difficult to understand. Especially regarding receiving payments from clients. It is the whole reason for using this sight and there is minimal explanation on the details of how milestone payments work. There is only basic information.
It ended up that I did work for a fake profile assuming I correctly implemented milestone payments, however it was not done correctly and I received no payment for my work. I was then charged a fee by Freelancer for working for free. I strongly felt it was unjust to charge a fee when there was a fake profile on their site. After 15 email exchanges of two weeks Freelancer finally annulled the fee. I would have preferred more understanding in this situation. But I guess all's well that ends well.

Freelancer website is the best
Hello everyone! I am a freelancer on the Freelancer website. I have just registered for an account and I am a newcomer to the Freelancer website. Just a few days ago, because my mobile phone could not receive the login verification code, I could not Log in to my account and start working. I was anxious, so I tried to send an email to the Freelancer website. Unexpectedly, I got help from Ms. Juliet E. From the Freelancer website, and I resolved it quickly Question. I have used other freelance websites before (including those in my home country), and I think these websites are not as good as Freelancer websites. Freelancer websites provide timely feedback and deal with problems quickly and efficiently. I thought it was due to time difference/language/geography Location and other reasons, my request for help will take a long time to get a response. I did not expect the Freelancer website to help me so perfectly. Thanks to Ms. Juliet E., thanks to the Freelancer website, from now on I will be the Freelancer website Loyal users, and will recommend the Freelancer website to my friends, colleagues and partners. Sincere thanks!

Freelancer is just a Scamming website
Freelancer is just a Scamming website, it is trying to get money from you as much as Freelancer can, if you are a freelancer they don't care about your rights and they don't even respect you, in case the client refused to pay you after you have done the project and give the work to the client they will stand with the client even if he is wrong unless you are giving them more money than the client. So basically the balance it towards their profit, whoever will give them more money they will stand with him.
They gave 10 Euros out of 50 to me after I have done all of the work needed and the client refused to pay me my 50 euros and he even insulted me without me doing anything bad to him and I insulted him back because I care about my dignity and I am not a slave so that anyone that I am doing work for can't insult me for no reason, I decided to go through the Dispute and later the Arbitration stage and the client didn't provide any good evidences but they stood with him because he has many projects on the Website while this was my first project on the website after waiting for 7 months so they saw that the client is providing more profit to them so why not stand with him while he was obviously very wrong.
They take their fee right after you accept a project so that if any conflict happened between the freelancer and the client they will have their fee on their pockets even if the client refuse to pay the freelancer which again proves that they are scamming you.

And even when I charged my account using my Visa, they asked me to Authenticate my Visa first in order for the transaction to implement successfully but I didn't do it but guess what, when I looked in my balance I found that the money is there so they don't care if I have stolen this visa or scammed someone else to use his Visa, they just care about their profit, they are money dogs.

Poor communication on Freelancer's part
Freelancer does not follow their procedures and is not transparent in the process. When an award is given, the amount that the developer is awarded is funded by the client. But then a negative balance appears for the percentage that Freelancer wants for providing the service. It would be more transparent and clear if the amount demanded for the award included the additional amount that the client will be paying. Why request an award amount (from which Freelancer will deduct the developer's fee) that does not also include the transaction fee that the client will then still owe to Freelancer? One complete and corrrect amount that does not later become an additional charge, perhaps not understood by the client? Secondly, Freelancer sends an email stating that 'the ticket will be closed shortly as there has been no activity on the ticket' when in fact Freelancer have already closed the ticket. The wording on the email is the polite thing to do. Give a warning. But is that followed? No. They first close the ticket, then Freelancer sends an email stating that they will be closing the ticket soon. Follow the polite procedure or reword the ticket to "We have closed this ticket."

An Awesome Experience!
I have had the distinct pleasure of speaking with both Macall and Chelsea and found both to be unequalled in their professional and friendly approaches to my inquiry. Not only were Freelancer more than happy to go out of their way to assist me, but they were more than able to answer all of my questions in a remarkably speedy amount of time.

Macall is an amazingly professional and impressive staff member at Freelancer. He went out of his way to dig into my previous communications on your site to determine if I had applied for Verification status or not. I had posed the same request of other members of your staff before, but he was the only person who actually searched for the facts and helped me along the Verification path.

And Chelsea responded to my questions immediately and in a much-appreciated detailed manner, all the while being extremely friendly and very willing to please.

This is an awkward reality for anyone in business, not just because of COVID-19, but because there is a serious lack of concern for assisting others, especially in a timely fashion. Chelsea and Macall definitively stand out as a mega stars in this capacity and should be commended, if not rewarded, for their ingenuity and remarkably professional natures.

If you ever need to find two staff members to promote or to congratulate for an outstanding approach with your clients, Chelsea and Macall should be at the top of your list.

Kudos to you, Macall and Chelsea, for making my life so much easier. Thank you from an extremely satisfied freelancer!

Thanks for Extending your Support - Marcela P. And Others
I was scammed by a Freelancer named Suvankar Sarkar (Suvankar S). He scammed me and made me release the milestone payment. And he even kept me waiting for months giving idiotic excuses. I reported him to freelancer support. Freelancer quickly verified & understood the situation, and they took serious action on his account. Even though i lost both time and money, in the end i got justice that i deserved. Bunch of customer support team members were assigned to my ticket, i would like to thank them all, and special thanks to Marcela P (support team member) for helping and updating me throughout the end. Based on my experience i would normally give three stars, but because of Marcela P's extended support and kind gesture i'm giving all five stars. So, thanks again to everyone who helped me on my issue.

P.S. Never release milestone before getting/seeing the overall project. Even if a freelancer request you multiple times to release the overall payment/milestone, please don't. Only release after seeing/getting your project done.

Communication outside the platform and taxing for applying to new offers.
I confess that I got very upset with the sensation that it seems almost impossible to work at freelancer.com without being corruptive with the company (giving personal number) and therefore being exposed to risky dealings and not honest to your company. All three users that sent me a message asked for my number and when I replied that I would only use the message box of freelancer, two of them were rude or cynical, as the print shows.
If it is possible to make a suggestion, I would suggest that the platform creates a tracking to catch words like skype, zoom, what's, whatsapp, zap or similars in the message box so if a user try something he or she will immediately be warned, the message read by freelancer and the user blocked.
I am an actress trying to make some money with an honest work and I thought that I had found the perfect solution for my financial crisis when I found freelancer.com, but I must say that I am truly upset with this culture inside the platform. Thus, now I have to wait 4 days or something to apply for other jobs, having to PAY to work, for me to be upset again and "loose coins" and actual money with irregular users. I'm feeling trapped!
Sorry for the honesty, I really think some changes are necessary, even for you guys to be more lucrative and for the site to be more reliable.

Got scammed for 2700$
The freelancer Raja S. I put first a milestone on freelance for 500usd he told me he was 17 and he couldn't take the money out he make with me a fre video calls than I agree him to pay with ethereum on Binance he showed me on the video calls that he was working on my project but he didn't so I transferred him a total of 2700$ I paid him also to deploy my NFT 620$ and he didn't he took the money he told me he won't make the project and he can't sent my money back. So I got scam but that's not all I provide the freelancer support with screenshots and transactions that I made for this criminal and Freelancer didn't do nothing! Raja S. Still working as a Staff verified freelancer and still scamming hard working people! Very sad that after that at least support didn't delete his account. Freelancer let criminals work on their platform and I don't feel save. I hope freelancer improves their security and clean all criminals from their platform. As a client I don't feel safe I know I didn't have to pay outside freelancer but I just wanted to help. I know I won't get my money back but at least freelancer could have made justice by cleaning all the bad people that steal clients money but freelancer didn't care. They didn't di nothing I see Raja S. Profile with the Staff verified icon laughing with my money. For me thats very bad support! How can you let criminals work on your platform? Can't understand. I don't need too as I cashed out my money and I am looking for a safer platform.

Poor handling of issue
Freelancer.com was in our opinion unhelpful in assisting us to resolve an issue we had with a freelancer we hired through their web site.
Our impression is one of complete 'case less attitude'
Freelancer.com. Made it impossible for us to amend our review of the work done by the contractor we hired after it came to light that the freelancer was not able to complete the project in a satisfactory.
Manner. It took many, many emails which appear to have been bounced around several staff at freelancer none of whom appeared the slightest bit interested in resolving the issue promptly.
Eventually after a great many emails, we where able to gain an acceptable outcome.
However we have now found that an attempt to retrieve funds held by freelancer in our freelancer account, has been denied. The excuse offered beggars belief...
Our experience with this company as gone from bad to worse and would not hesitate to suggest that the company NOT be used to source any contactor work.

I lost my money and account without any reason!
Had a bad experience in using this platform. I have worked hard and earned money.
After I receive 500$ in account, my account was suspended without any reason. And Freelancer didn't send any message. I didn't do any bad actions in the account and also kept site policy as well.
After two days, the account was closed without any reason. So I contacted their support several times.
But never help. Each time, they said to me please wait with the template message. Already passed 3 months with that.
Why? What reason? I want to be fair here. I really loved my work and also my account.
It was a good account and all my clients were satisfied with my works. All five-star rating.
I worked hardly. But lost my money and account currently as a result without any reason.
And they didn't help me to recover the account. I wanted to recover that.
I hope ReviewFeeder helps me. Thanks

You guys Really having a Great Freelancers Support Team!
Freelnacer.com witnessed the start of my Freelancing Career in the translation field over a year now! During that period of time, I gained lots of experiences dealing with freelancer.com
Freelancer.com is a science on its own! You have to get knowledge in several areas in order to succeed! And here I want to thank and appreciate the Freelancer Support team from what Freelancer gave to me until now! 60% of my knowledge came by contacting them! Answering me quickly, they understand my concerns, they provide me with the ideal Answers and solutions for the problems that I had, and the most important thing overall, their nice and kind language! I used to know that support team like an Answer machine! Here things are different they are creating a human connection with the freelancer! Which makes me feel happy every time I contact them:)
Thank you so much for your efforts!
Keep up the good work guys :)

Pathetic experience
Freelancer restricted my account and restricted me from withdrawing my funds and asked me to undergo identity verification process in order for the restrictions to be lifted from my account. I successfully verified my identity via Freelancer's KYC identity verification process. However, it's been more than a week now and the restrictions from my account still not lifted. I tried contacting them multiple times and the only response I got from support team members is that "my issue has been escalated and we have sent a follow-up email to relevant team that is reviewing your account". I have even asked them the reason behind placed restrictions and Freelancer don't seem to have any response for this question. So my experience with Freelancer is really frustrated and pathetic. I am afraid that I will loose my 6 month of effort and money that I have earned.
