Worst Customer Service Call Center i have encountered!
I was happy with the card itself. For a prepaid card it works places most prepaid cards do not. All was well until I needed customer support. My card expired in January. I have called 10 times. Completed every form, request and address change. Still have not received a new card. I have been hung up on when my question did not fit into their phone script Green Dot read from. I have been told twice it has been sent out and it would take 7 business days. Each call in required 3 transfers and each one required verifying same security info. Today called again and refused to talk to anyone but a Supervisor. The Supervisor informed me that the card wasnt sent out and the request not entered. She apologized and "Expedited " a new card that I still have to wait for another 3 days. I felt the apology was insincere and they nothing was addressed about their agents lying to customers. I addressed it however... stati g it was unacceptable to tell me you will issue a card and not even request it. Not once but twice! I asked her if she could see my previous calls. I was told yes but got the feeling my experience will NOT be used as a training tool and those employees will continue to aggravate and waste customers valuable time. In a nutshell... great card for a few uses but if u need any support you are SOL.

DON'T USE Go2Bank which is the same as Green Dot Bank
After a mistake made on their part, we are still locked out of our account. Can not access our money or close our account.

We can not get anyone with the authority to over ride their system.

On hold for 1:25 hours on one call. Green Dot just pass you around to another person, that also has no authority. While they all do make apologizes and say sorry for the inconvenience as if they are all reading this from a script. Even got kicked up to speak with the Corporate Resolutions Team.

They kept asking us for or bank account number, personal address, phone numbers, full social security number, date of birth and so on. Although they would not tell us the bank's address. Just that they not in America.

We have contacted Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. We are arranging for Proof of Service to serve a law suit to Mr. Dan Henry President and Amit Parikh Executive Vice President, although the address in Pasadena is a vacant building. This Office space is available for lease. The Better Business Bureau is using a PO box as their bank address.

Their corporate resolution team wants a letter of indemnity from the payroll processing company that my employers uses to hold green dot bank harmless an agree not to sue. This is not an option they will do for us, besides our lawyer advises not to waive this right. Counsel agrees with us, that the mistake they made that is blocking access to our money in our accounts is cause for action legally.

If anyone wants to join this suit please reply. The attorney said there is no cost to you to join our suit.

DAY ONE: JULY 29/21 I GO GET A CARD FROM THE (STORE. Name W. G.) We will say, I purchase at the store, after I spend the money go after green dot. Bank2go if you want your money register told me. Thanks for telling me after words. Next I go online set up a bankto go account. And try to link it to card. My balance of 0.00? Where did my money go? By all means I think i been scammed?
Called Green Dot / Bank2go Rep. Their answer! Their words "Read the instructions" three times, then I say fine lady i want a refund, oh you need to go to W. G. store get it from them! Say that twice to me. I say funny Green Dot told me to do the same thing for green dot / Bank2go card.
Reason: Money I was intend used to help a friend turn on their phone. Cause his mother and mikey was down on their luck. Close friends of mine. I was thinking i could avoid a scam by using this card. That was a lie and i should have read the reviews online first and avoid this B. S. Inwhich problems lays in I just did get scam. Right off the bat when i went to the store and pick up that green dot /bank2go card. I wont ever get one of thoses again. First time i ever had a problem with this. And frankly. Watch out! You dont ever get your money back! Charges are high i heard. However. My emails states balance of $0.00. I have plenty of proof. Store states wipe their hands clean of it. And I say fine, I post this comment and will do so at every review site on the internet. Until the message gets out. And I wont stop.

Worst mistake I ever made
Worst mistake I ever made was joining greendot. There are way too many fees to access your own money. If I could give them zero or negative stats I would. The customer service is absolutely horrible. When you ask a question Green Dot do not answer it they just read some script written answer that has nothing to do with the issue that you called about. Also I was in a locked medical facility with no access to my card, my phone or any type of electronics and my card was charged. I filed a dispute and they said it would be resolved in 10 days. After 15 days I called back and they gave me the run around about it and told me now it can take up to 45 days. After waiting a month And a half they denied the claim as they determined I authorized the purchase. Again I was locked up. I offered proof and they said it was not needed. They are a bunch of thieves who I will be filling a suit in small claims court against. DO NOT EVER TRUST YOUR MONEY WITH THESE THIEVES

Reversal/ Natural Disaster
# 05758607 After the hurricane in Texas I filed Identity theft to check my back up card... Green Dot for my extra funds. Any company that I have contacted since the concern has did what Green Dot can do to expedite the Texas customers. I explained to the these funds depended on me being homeless no one expressed any sympathy or went out of the way to assist me due to the circumstance. I was told I needed to send another form in because it was denied because of information that I filled out wrong. After submitting again they told me to wait another 2 weeks in which I was never called back since the initial time that I filed dispute. I was never questioned by a supervisor or representative by return of call. I had to call them they canceled my card so I was not able to talk to the customer service line without a card number it took me a couple of days to find another number for assistance to again receive customer service. It would be different if I disputed large amounts all the time. That would be a red flag for them to deny it, not only do I have to pay for new card they are telling me I'm denied in getting my funds reversed. Know one was given my pin number that information was filled out incorrectly. I sent it the corrected form with more supportive information and they stated that I will still need to wait 2 weeks. The fault is at customer service assistance because if I was guided correctly or ever called back by someone to discuss I would have fixed the issue along time ago. I don't accept having to wait another 2 weeks when I am homeless and they know the conditions with Texas inclement weather. They give you company Terms and conditions as if I dont work in customer service. I go out my way to resolve issues for mistakes caused by the customer service agents I work with. Not matter the compromise I find away to resolve the customer issue with one call resolution not 2 weeks. I'm able to verify payments and refund within 24 hours, if a customer has a problem with a charge. Even if It takes me an hour to complete and I have to call the customer back I as a agent take responsibility at the end of the day no matter how good a product can be if there is poor customer service it is not worth it

You guys are ridiculous
I don't even want to give them the full one star. I was not under the impression that everytime I slid the card I get charged 1.50. Green dot has taking 9.00 dollars from me in fees and will not work with me to get it back. That's a rip off! I bought the card for bills and put exactly what I needed on the card. Once I got to the last bill I realized I didn't have enough which was odd. I logged in and saw that Green Dot literally charged me 1.50 each time I used the card. I called the company and explained that I was not aware of the fees and they said they would refund my money only to hang up on me after being on hold for 30 minutes, just for me to call back for them to put me on hold for another 20 minutes and hang up on me the second time. I have been trying to reach out to this company and I have zero luck. I will never use this card again and I will advertise how badly my experience on any and everything I possibly can. Thanks a lot green dot for the $#*!tie fees you have stolen from me.

This company will steal your money
On August 18th I made a transaction to order contacts. The transaction was not accepted by the merchant, however was taken out of the account for a pending transaction. The account stated the money would be returned on the 26th of August. Come August 27th, my money had not been refunded. I called greendot and their representative told me that Green Dot have not received the money back and would have to wait until the 29th(a Sunday) to recieve my refund, ultimately not getting it until August 31st. On August 29th the charge still stated pending on my account. August 31st I called in, my money was not refunded and the pending charge was now gone. I called in and spoke to many different representatives all telling me different things. One told me he can see the money was not refunded. Another told me it was refunded on the 26th, another told me it was refunded the 24th and another representative told me that 2 of them are lying.

I have not received my money and now they're telling me there was never a charge made on the 18th so they can't refund anything.
This had been a pending charge for 12 days before disappearing. And my money was never returned.

In the process of speaking to these representatives over the course of 4 days, I have been lied to multiple times, hung up on multiple times, and given not 1 unanimous answer. I was lied to by two representatives. One representative literally repeated himself for 25 minutes (literally the same sentence) forcing me to scream at the man. Another agent became extremely condensending. I have not gotten my money back and they are refusing to credit my money.

This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Do not do business with this company. They will not give you answers, they will not correct their mistakes, they will steal your money, they will not listen to you. They will repeat their rebuttals to the most extreme robotic representation you will ever encounter. If you value your finances, do not do business with this company. You'll only be sent to an outsourced csr department to speak to individuals such as
Mahpab(the representative that repeated himself and refused to transfer me to a supervisor after requesting 30 times)
Christopher( who hung up after seeing there was a problem with the account)
Bell(who will give you two conflicting answers and then become disrespectful)
Alexis vell or… I don't even know if these are their real names. They say the calls are recorded but they refuse to review them. They refuse to transfer you to supervisors.
They refuse to speak to you like a human. They will repeat rebuttals even if it doesn't make sense in the English language.

This company is trash and this is not how you treat people who pay to use your service.

I know many other people have experienced this. I think it's time for a class action.

Nightmare
I purchased a pre paid card so I would have a card to load money on for road trips. I was told I would receive a personal card in the mail shortly after. After 3 months with no sign of a personal card I called in and had a second one sent out... That also had not arrived 6 months later... Meanwhile I am about to go out of town and I load the card up with money... Well I forgot my pin since I last used it and am informed that I am unable to change it because I dont have a personal card... I ask if Green Dot had record of the card being sent and I was put on a 15 min hold and then transfered. After giving up all my info again and explaining that I should have had 2 personal cards but neither made it despite being sent to the address on file. I ask for a supervisor... Another 15 min hold and now I get connected to the worst line I have heard since dial up. After a few minutes threw the broken English and broken phone line I determine this individual is in fact not a supervisor! At this point im very upset and tell him i need a supervisor on the line now. And he wants me to give up my info again to get connected... Now I am quite mad as he puts me on hold and the line DISCONNECTS shortly after. I then call back and try to explain the problem and asking for a supervisor AGAIN. The line that was perfectly clear before goes dead silent the moment a bring up supervisor. I keep asking if Sarah can hear me. When I said can you hear me I need a supervisor to cancel this card... SHE disconnected the line. Im done never use this company. They are charging me monthly and cant even send a card out over a 9 month period. I'm going to have to go online and manually cancel my own card. This was a nightmare.

Customer service is bad, wait time is long, and Green Dot use trickery to take your money.

I was given $500.00 as a gift and I have yet to use it and the balance is below $450.00. I wanted to claim the rest of the money and close the account but they sent me on the run around or put me on hold for a long time. Currently (as I am writing this review), I am on hold for 34 min with an annoying background music designed to get on the last nerve of whoever is listening to it. The agent I spoke to prior to the hold didn't inform me that he is about to put me on hold or why he is putting me on hold. Mid conversation, he just turned the music.

Another agent showed up after a while and started to interact with me as a new caller and ask a bunch of security questions asked by the first agent. Needless to say, neither of them were helpful. I highly recommend running away from these people

Overall, I don't have to know who owns this company to tell you that it is run by a bunch of scam artists and thieves.

Horrible service
This is the worst pre paid card service known to man. I would never recommend this card to anyone! The customer service is horrible. What card company you have to text with inquiries? And then sent scripts for answers. The site half way work. I that any green dot card should be linked to your account if it is an actual account. Not. It is not an actual account. Green Dot can remove your money at any given time if you owe for a new card but you have no access to it at all. This is definitely not a regular checking account. Why put it as a checking account. They would not give me back my paycheck. My card was stolen and they said I had to wait on a new card. The new card(s) 3x never reached me. I had to pay 5$ for each card mailed to me that I NEVER received. Ha! Then I had it expedited and had to pay an additional 15$ and another $5 for ANOTHER card. Then they I asked how long is production. They has no answer. So I pay for 3-5 days by fedex for 7-9 the same as standard shipping. What a rip off!

Not a real credit card company, you have no rights
Don't use this card unless you can afford to loose the money you put on it. Someone stole my credit card information somehow and made 3 purchases in a 2 day period at the same Popeyes restaurant for a total of $139.55. I found out about the charges only 4 days later and immediately called Greendot. I was already very agitated that it even happened and then on top of that I had to talk to someone who I could not even understand. The only thing that I got out of the conversation was that I had to mail a letter listing the dates and charges that I was disputing. So I did, I explained that my card never leaves my home, I use it for internet purchases only and on a desktop computer with good virus protection. I live in NJ and that the purchases took place in CA. I was on lock down and could not have flown out to CA because of covid-19 no fly restrictions and have never been to CA. In my life.
This was their response:
"Thank you for contacting us about the dispute for $139.55 on your Green Dot. We have concluded our investigation of your dispute referenced above. Based on our review, we are unable to grant your claim because based on our review of relevant information, including transaction and account activity, no error was found. If you would like to request and receive a copy of supporting documentation used in the
Determination, please send a written request including your full name and the Case Number included at the top of this letter to: XXXXXXXX."
No error was found, really, they're calling it an error. This was credit card fraud, a crime was committed and it should have been investigated as such. (Who spends $139.55 at the same fast food restaurant in a two day period) I sent both an email and a mailed letter requesting the supporting documentation used in making the determination. Green Dot never responded.
Below you might see a Greendot response to this review saying something like:
"It truly saddens us to hear you're unhappy with the service you were provide. Please allow us the opportunity to make things right. Please give us a call through the number on the back of your card, so we can review your account with you."
I've already called, but can no longer speak to anyone. The automated system says that a decision has already been made, there is nothing further that customer support can do, goodbye.
This is not a real credit card company, you have no rights, don't throw away your money.

Run FAR Away, Living Nightmare
This has been a complete nightmare. I had a transaction deducted from my account on 9/20/18. I filed a disputed as instructed and the represented told me it would take 10 business day to resolve the dispute. I called on the 11th business day and received another date of 45 days to resolve the issue. At that point I closed the account today I found out the company sent the money back I went to log into the prepaid account and there it was just sitting there since the 8th October. I call the customer service line and Green Dot stated the only way to receive my money is for them to send it by mail in a check form which will take another 10 days. At that point will be well over a month from the time I filed the dispute. Please please do yourself a favor a run AWAY from this company. They are not here to help or protect the costumer as a regular bank typically has dispute resolved in half the time frame then what walmartmoneycard lies to you about. There are many banks you can go through if you need a debit cardswith no credit, first time banking or bad credit. Wells Fargo Opportunity Checking is one of them. At this point I'm going the legal route in order for me to receive my money because I don't believe a word they say and all of there representatives are from overseas and it is hard to understand them and they really don't care about your issues. COMPLETE TOTAL NIGHTMARE!

DO I HAVE TO LEAVE A STAR
I've dealt with bad costumer service. Who hasnt. But when I say this. Here my warning. Run, don't walk! Green dot on the surface seems ok. But God forbid you have any problems or questions. If your able to get through by phone(2\12 hours) You'll deal with a terrible echo that makes it impossible to communicate your problem! You want to dispute a charge, good luck bc there online site says in handle disputes, but it just refers You to call. Remember 2 and 1\2 hours + phone echo. So now your left with chat room or email. Well email has yet to even send a apology letter and I've sent multiple for past 2 weeks. And the chatroom lol... Well my 4 year old can comprehend better than the ppl I've come across. I would explain all what I just explained and the number one response. I apologies, please try the phone number on back of card! I can't make this up. I explain I have problems with the phone and you help is. "Sorry call it again". I understand you get what you pay for. But in a market where there's a dozen prepaid cards. Stay clear of green dot.

Thieves
Green dot charged me 2.95 to load 20.00 to a card. Not even 30 minutes after activating it, Green Dot immediately charged me 8.95! They should just be upfront and say the first time loading of this card is $12.00. This is how they get you. You expect that you can use it like a gift card (which they don't seem to offer anymore), and then they take $12.00 from you. Then they make it extremely hard to cancel the card, it is nearly impossible. You cannot cancel it on the webpage, you now MUST call them, they put you on hold for hours or hang up on you before you can get through. Green dot didn't always use to be a scam you use to be able to use it briefly and cancel it, at one time they let you cancel it on your security tab. No longer do they let you do this. No longer do they charge you after a month has gone by but immediately! Again beware of this scam, it is a terrible service, would not recommend it. Do not give anyone a gift on one of these cards!

DO NOT GET THIS CARD!
These people are so dishonest. I don't understand how Green Dot are in business. I'm calling everyone in my state to find out how to get them investigating this company. Watch your money closer then ever. Someone in that company is taking money out of my account for purchases I made a week prior but paid for the week before. I watched them take the money out of my account for an Amazon order they took the money out of my account and I even got confirmation from Amazon saying they got the payment. But then 5 days later after I already received my order I just happened to be looking at my transactions and seen them take the same amount out again after I already got my order. The transaction from the first amount didn't even show up on my account but I have all the proof that they took it out. I will not stop until the federal banking authority looks into this bank. I can't get any help because no one speaks English but they have things designed like that for a reason. They leave you exhausted from the frustration of trying to get your money.

Legitmate bank but one thing
I need to be clear when I say I actually like Green Dot a lot. Ive never had any major problems with them and service is pretty quick and straight forward. My complaint is really about customer service as talking to a human is pretty difficult and Green Dot give scripted answers all the time. My actual complaint though is the lack of Bank Statement. I need it to legitamize myself woth investmemt brokerage firms as I am learning to trade stock. I had a hell of a time doing so as they neesed a bank statent. Green Dot provides transaction history and Account information slated as "Direct Deposit Slip". But it doesnt provide all that info on one page. Its seperated into two distinct pieces of paper or PDFs. This has caused issue with various institutions in my lifetime and I can never get a straight answer of why I cannot have this common expectation of a bank. As much as I advocate for them this is a sore point and makes me look bad to investors and others. I have yet to see a true bank statement. I know and everyone else knows im a real person with real asset with a legitmate bank. But policy and legalities require an actual bank statement to legitamize and finalize certain aspects of investing or, renting, or etc. in order to provide a secure proof of my financial asset visa vie GreenDot bank. For security and policy reasons this seems a rather important point that Green Dot is missing and im fairly concern as Ive wasted 3 weeks of my time with Fidelity investments trying to secure my account with what appeara to be a dodgy banking practice and them telling me I need a bank statent when my bank is not providing that and I provide all other supplemental information as needed visa vie the transaction history and financial account info through fax simultaneously and conversing with Fidelity to furnish an exception. That is embarassing.

Maybe the rich folk dont mind it, but for us normal people its just a flat out ripoff
That one star is undeserved, i was forced to rate at least one by this site. If I could give negative stars, I would give *******99999. Nothing more to say, just a rip off with $8+ per month (can change without notice) in fees, the % surcharge for getting it apparently wasn't enough money for them. In the end Green Dot got 25% of the money I put on the darn thing. Never EVER would I recommend this card unless you are super rich and are putting tens of thousands of dollars on the thing, and only need it for a short time. Otherwise they are just another company that overcharges on fees to get rich quick -- even if only 1000 people use the card per month, that's already 8k in the bank for them without even actually doing anything. Now, if you need to MOVE the money on/off the card -- those fees are even worse I wont even get started on that because I didn't make the mistake of saying ok when it showed me how much it was going to charge for a simple withdraw from the account.

Claims are false.
My name is Juanita Cleveland last year for Christmas I brought my Uncle Charles Williams a green dot visa debit card. Plus I paid the fee to purchase if about $ 4.95. We activated his card and my Aunt sometime I believe last February. My Uncle decided to use his card yesterday at Wal-Mart to buy halloween candy, where I purchased the cards. He was told by the cashier he did not have any funds. He immediately went home and called the number on the backof the card and was told he had a -$15.90 balance due to monthly service fees. Explain how someone has a negative balance on prepaid, with a company that says no hidden fees. The rep yesterday could not explain so my Uncle called me. I went to his house after work and called with him present and was greeted by Nina. Nina said he was only charged 2 months of service fees that's why the negative balance. I told her the math dies not add up. She also said she sees where he did not use the card. However she could not refund or reload his card
She said their system could not do that. I after being put on hold a couple of times and asking for a refund I asked for a supervisor. I was initially told several times there wasn't anyone. After being put on hold again Hubert came on the line and said Green Dot could not refund or reload the $50. I put on the card because green dot charges monthly fees. He then asked if we had a receipt or the card packaging. What a joke! We went through different senerials, and I asked if I brought a toaster a year ago did he expect me to have a box or receipt for an exchange? His answer was that was different. I asked again and again for a refund or reload and we were denied. How can you say no over dreary fees and you overdraft prepaid visa debits constantly, and consistently. You are Miss leading your customers purposely. To top it all off and I guess this is how you make a profit you are extremely hard to get a hold of for assistance. Your pholosy should be take their money plus the card fees. Make sure the customer can't reach you. Don't forget if they do reach you have people in place that can't or won't help. I say all this to say I want my Uncle to have his present of $ 50. And how is it that one representative can tell us the card was not used and the other says the system does not show anything. Beware of Green Dot please if you have any sense use a different financial company
My credit card was stolen and when I called I was given no options of getting my money out before the account was closed Green Dot just closed the account and now I have no way of accessing the money in the account so I can't pay bills or eat when I try to talk to a customer representative on the phone I cannot access any human my paycheck is directly deposited into Green Dot and now they won't accept deposits either there was a way of getting access to my money through PayPal that I linked to my green card and they didn't bother to tell me that my account will be closed for 3 weeks with no access to the account customer service was not helpful whatsoever and when they withdraw their monthly maintenance fee it doesn't show up on transactions so you don't know why your account is $7.95 shortand they also tell you that if you go to certain places like Walgreens it's a no charge withdrawal at their ATMs that is a lie I got charged several times and about 20% of the time the card won't work when you use the chip to pay for products and it won't give you the option of swiping your card please for your sanity and your finances do not use green card services

They are holding my funds for 7 days even though a release has been issued
Nothing is worse than a bank holding your funds unnecessarily. I attempted to make a purchase on line. The company did not have the products in stock so I immediately cancelled the order. According to the company Green Dot immediately issued a release on the pending funds. They don't actually charge until the are ready to ship. After 24 hours I contacted Walmart Green-dot Bank because the funds which were never drawn against were not available for my use. I contacted customer service, I got a person from the Philippines who could only read to me, stating that my funds may not be released for several days. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor but none were available. I was promised that one would call me back but that has not happened either. I have been using Walmart Green Dot for five years, customer service really does not exist. It is difficult to almost impossible to discuss real issues with a live person and get real reasonable results. Tying up my funds for seven days for a pending hold that was released and a sales transaction that never took place is ridicules.
