Mobile battery fit - do not use!
Multiple visits were required and still not to a satisfactory outcome without a visit to a Halfords garage which I was trying to avoid by using a mobile service! Poor and inconsistent communication, phone calls promised and never received. Very disappointing from a recognised brand. I would not recommend.
Picked up a bike today from Abbey lane Leicester branch. Not set up properly when i got outside went to ride off and the handle bars swung round. Took it back and the guy who tightened the handle bars mumbled something and another staff member said no worries it's cool. I said no it's not cool i could have broken my neck. Also i had to wait for quite a while to be served and there were plenty of staff behind the counter who could see there was a queue of people waiting. I'm ok with the bike but the service was very poor and i could have been severely injured.
Dear Halfords
Thank you finally for the one phone call I was waiting for after 5 months, “That’s all it took” not everybody is seeking personal compensation Halfords. I will after this email honour my end of the agreement in return Halfords make a donation to a Ukraine crisis charity, which I hope you will and if nothing else restore some professional dignity and public trust.
I am taking this opportunity to tell you about the most amazing customer service I have received from the Bike Hut staff at Folkestone, Kent.
Around 8 days ago, I had no knowledge of ebikes and although having researched on line, wanted to speak to someone. I visited the store. The staff answered all my questions in detail as well as furnished me with other information to enable me to make an informed decision as to whether to proceed.
Upon deciding to go ahead with a purchase, I tried a few different bikes. Being on the shorter side, I was directed to a different frame size which suited me perfectly.
Upon ordering I was given advise on lighting requirements which helped me again make a decision on what to purchase.
I collected my purchase today. Once again I was treated with the utmost courtesy and respect. I was given a robust handover of how to operate and maintain the bike and battery as well as given storage advise to save the battery and frame life. The staff carried the bike downstairs for me without having to be asked.
Overall, I wish to thank the Folkestone staff for their professionalism and outstanding customer focused service.
Placed a click and collect order for an air filter. Visited after 3 days to collect, but it hadn't arrived. and needed 2 more days to arrive. Visited after 3 more days to find that the order had been cancelled with no notification or any other communication from teh company. Will be using the local motor factors for all my future parts needs
Dear Halfords
Thank you for your 2 automated replies, In the meantime…
!!! Took our car in for 4 new tyres at Halfords ended up with 2 alloy wheels damaged, under-seal ripped off underneath and left dangling, (which according to Halfords was the cars fault? Manager confrontational attitude problem) and to top it all found they had rummaged through the glove box and personal property to find the service manual to check when the next service was due? (Excuse: looking for the wheel nut) was sent down the road to a wheel repair shop who told us it needed a diamond cutter company to repair it? Also: that we were the 3rd car this week with the same problem sent from Halfords. Contacted there head office several times not interested no reply from them at all, what a bunch of cowboys should hold their heads in shame.
Spent over 2 days running about / over 100 miles and taken 5 weeks to sort out at another branch and now over 5 months still waiting for them to complete their investigations so they say? Now we have ended up with 2 shiny refurbished wheels and 2 dull ones. Beware people not a professional company with little or no respect of people’s property, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!
UPDATE:
Dear Reader Matt, Yes they did give our car back not saying a single word about any of the damage? Plus I sorted the underseal out my-self in the end because even with photo evidence still total disrespect and ignorance of the matter.
Good afternoon Halfords!
Just to ask after 5 months how the murder investigations are proceeding?

Had 7 dashcams fitted, 6 went well then No7 was a different ‘technician’ who was immediately phoning for advice about which fuse to piggyback from. 45 mins later my Audi app informs me of a serious fault that requires attention. Audi had to re-wire & fix the issues after 2 weeks with no car. Halfords customer service are pants & not fit for purpose, Trading Standards are next port of call followed by small claims court. My previous 1 star rating has mysteriously disappeared.
Good Morning Halfords
‘Yet Another week of silence’

Received several sets of “Halfords Advanced” tools for Christmas. They come with a lifetime guarantee. Two sockets and pliers broke so as per the advice on my guarantee took them to Halfords Bridgend. The member of staff on till told me they don’t have customer service in store and no don’t exchange tools at Bridgend either. I asked to speak to the manager who accused me of stealing or buying the tools second hand. I explained they were Christmas presents and had photos and videos of me opening them and the guarantee. He said I need the receipt to exchange. I made a quick call the the person who bought the tools while the manager abused me behind my back. When I turned to tell him I was being sent the receipts. He then said policy has changed and Halfords no longer honour the guarantee. I asked him to print me a copy of the new policy and he lost his temper and told me to leave the store. He then shouted I was a bad role model to my son who was with me. Halfords refuse to return my emails or contact on social media. Spent over £1000 and they won’t replace tools worth £10
Halford were provided with correct car REG and I was provided with the wrong rear side-light break bulb replacement. A single filament bulb was replaced with a double filament bulb. So the wrong connections. Should be 382 not 380!
Had Dash Cam fitted but will not work on "Parking Mode" setting.
I've been getting intouch by phone and by email all day with NO response form ether there WAKEFIELD shop (where the work was done) or their main office.
I have now been told "its a danger installation"
Huge concerns about staff at Bike workshop in Halfords Charlton.
Staff need training (or something) it’s not a good idea to have racist/prejudiced staff working on a counter in a diverse city like London.
Staff in other areas of the store are fine but the reception at the bike counter has put me off.
Phoned my local store to ask whether they stocked a bike part. Got redirected to some kind of call centre, repeated my request. She went to find out and after 5 minutes I'm still waiting, left listening to some awful muzak. Since I'm autistic this just makes me very stressed so sadly, I had to hang up, non the wiser as to whether they had the part I needed so I bought one off Amazon. "Shop local" people say. How can I if I can't speak to my local shop to ask whether they tock a bike part? If I'm going to have to do a 16 miles round trip, I might as well just stay home in the warm and let my fingers do the walking, on the keyboard.
It has to be said that when contacting Halfords Plymouth store by telephone to inquire about the features of a specific sat-nav they sell, they could not have been more helpful - but when I went on to place the order intending to pay by Debit Card on line and book a fitting date, this was blocked. The reason is that if you don`t have a mobile phone and can insert the number, you cannot place an order. When I retired, I got rid of my mobiles and have since used other forms of communication - but Halfords appear not to understand that not everyone is enslaved by such devises, the advice given, that if I wanted to place an order I would have to travel to their nearest store to pay for the sat-nat and then return at a later date to have it fitted. Asking if I could place the order pay over the phone was met with a No. This is an absurd policy that is entirely nonsensical and I fail so see any value in it, whether to their customers or their own business.
After being quoted £110 to repair my bike by G64 bikes in Bishopbriggs, I decided to get a second opinion at Halfords. The young woman at Halfords was amazing! She sorted my bike within 5 minutes at no charge!
I subsequently booked a service. 24hrs later collected (Service done by Hamish) First Class service… above and beyond what I imagined or expected! Really really superb service. Just goes to show that the wee independents are no always the best choice!
Sold a product over the phone after spending 45 mins chatting to an advisor. Booked car in, when arrived after calling to check that I was booked in I was told they could not do the work. I was also told that I needed something else as part of the package which was not mentioned on the call, this was three times the price what I already paid.
The manager was unsympathetic, he could see I was distressed after wasting so much time and with a toddler in toe!
Called again to complain and asked that this be looked at asap, advisor seemed to listen but had no call back and it’s now been 4 weeks.
Shocking business, disjointed call centre, on premise staff have a lack of customer service skills and unable to deal with complaints.
I went to Riverside Warrington on Saturday which is 9 mile away to get my satnav sorted to my mobile phone and there was 3 staff all lad standing at counter doing nothing I asked for help they said there's no one in till tomorrow afternoon I told them I'd come 9 mile he said sorry but we can't help .
So phoned up this dinner time see if the lady will be in but she couldn't tell me I told her what had happened yesterday she was apologetic but that didn't help me I'm 77 years old an don't need this I'm sure one of them lad could have sorted it but guess they'd sooner stand doing nothing .Well won't go there for help again
Customer service non existent! I’ve called at least 10 times to resolve a minor issue and each time I’m promised a call back which has yet happened! This has been going on for nearly 2 weeks now. Im just relieved it’s not a big issue that needs resolving. So frustrating. Why on earth can’t people to their job properly?
