Teething issues but support was great!
I'm a new small business owner and want to manage my own website. I had some issues with signing up and then some configuration confusion but the support team were right there to help me out every step of the way. I have absolutely no regrets.

The customer support team responded to my issues straight away and helped me to resolve every one of the problems I had as a newcomer to the world of running my own website. Hostwinds were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely patient with me regardless of how obvious some of the mistakes I made were.

TS folks are expecting more experience than I have
Total package is honestly presented, though DDoS cost was a hit. I did use two of your sales associates and it was nice to have human beings to talk to.

AFA as after-the-sale support, I have mixed reactions. Too many tickets are generated, and often the responses can be characterized as 'before we can do this, you need to x, y, and z." That said, I accept that I do need to learn more -- even as a 38-year veteran of the software industry -- and I buckle down.

Overall, I think HostWinds is a resource that I can use and value for their service. Hostwinds certainly work hard to help within the allowed constraints of their processes!

Working with HOST$#*!WINDS was the worst decision I ever made being a business man. Don't fall for there pre-purchase sweet talks! I would give them a ZERO star only!

They won't reply to tickets! And there "DIRECTOR" has to verify my documents which is still not done, and I guess never will. They scammed me for 45$ and did not even use their $#*! service for a single day. Cause it never worked!

Great products, pay attention to cost
Great products, service and quick responses. I'm very happy with the experience so far. The only negative aspect was that the pricing for the service listed both included and optional features, and I did not catch the difference in the language used (features included vs features offered). Besides that, the list of options available allowed me to tailor what I wanted and select my favorite OS.

Avoid hostwinds
This is my first bad review about hosting. On December 14,2019, I ordered a vpn plan from hostwinds. From the beginning there was a problem because I ordered a server from the Netherlands and got from the USA.
On the same day I bought 2 other hosting one from Hostinger and one Cloudways in order to check which hosting would be the best for my online store. Hostwinds were definitely the worst. The next day I sent a request to delete the hosting. I didn't log in to the client area anymore and I was convinced that hosting was deleted as per my request.
After a month I was charged again for the next month. I have requested a refund. I received that a month earlier Hostwinds sent me an email that I have to confirm the request to cancel hosting again (unfortunately the email went into spam).
I sent them three more requests and confirm that I want to terminate hosting and ask to erase all my personal and paypal data from their system. On one query I got the answer that the request is incomplete and on 2 other support tickets I didn't get the answer and the tickets are on hold. To date, I have not received any refund. And the worst thing is that they still have access to my payment details and I'm afraid that again next month they will be charged for hosting costs. Avoid Hostwind

Difficulty in contact
I have tried the chat line link but it goes nowhere, I then called their 800# only to remain on hold for 20 minutes before giving up. Have sent email but only just, so will see what happens. If Hostwinds are closed at weekends, I understand but it would be nice were they to announce their business hours.
I am having problems in uploading website and there is not much help on their website on that subject. I was previously with Siteground but changed to this company as they had better rates. Now I know why! I had no problems with the previous hosting firm.

As an update - I did receive a response to my email concerning access to chat lines which suggested clearing cache and trying a different browser, which I did, but to no avail. The following morning I tried phoning and was on hold less than two minutes, when I was able to discuss uploading of a website. The rep I spoke to was very knowledgeable and very helpful and took time to help sort out the problem. Because of this I have increased the star rating to 4 and would have given five had they originally stated an estimated hold time on phone or had a system which enabled them to call back when tech available.

Very Satisfied overall
I appreciate Hostwinds offering their sales prices to existing customers! I had to order a new instance to get the price, so it took more of my time and theirs but still glad to have the option to do so.

Good. I've just upgraded my vps server and I found that i had to order a new instance to get the sales price (rather than just upgrade my existing site), but its good i have that option. Most companies don't offer their sales prices to their existing customers at all. I appreciate that Hostwinds values it's customers!

Overall, i've been extremely happy with their support and customer service for the last 2 years that i've been a customer.

Great so far!
It was very easy to purchase hosting at a great introductory rate, and the yearly renewal rate is still extremely competitive. I was previously with another host for the past two years and so already had my domain and website built. Hostwing's technical staff was extremely fast in getting my site migrated and making sure I stayed online the whole time! I expect this time next year I'll be happy to renew!

They are responsive and professional
Really glad to run my new website with Hostwinds - their shared hosting service is really stable and professional. I tend to place fairly technical support calls. In over 20 support calls (almost never for a problem, almost always for an implementation or coding question) I have never had worse than 15 mins first response, usually with an appropriate resolution. Calls that took longer clearly needed to take longer.

Seems like every time I make a change to my VPS Server...
Seems like every time I make a change to my VPS Server via the management interface something fails and it takes days to get it fixed. When this happens I sit around fielding phone calls from my clients $#*!ing about their site being down. It's been a really bad experience. I think it's time to start looking for a new hosting provider. It's winter and all I have is time, so, probably just going to move one.

I'm very big on customer service owning a company of my own. Your customer service representative Paul went out of his way to help me understand everything and he answered all my questions. Me not knowing anything about this kind of stuff and wanting to do it myself and not have my IT manager do it for me. Having Paul help me through all of it was a wonderful experience for me. I also would like you to know that I could have gotten the same products cheaper, but because of Paul's service to me, I decided to bring my business here. Your company will continue to get my business and the business of my friends as long as I continue to receive the outstanding service I was shown today.

HostWinds is a Con hosting-stay away!
Agree with previous comments! Most terrible & most unprofessional company I have even come across. Con people name Gus. No money-back-guarantee is available! It's all lies. Hostwinds con you to sign in to the Hosting by saying all will be done with their help but actually help you with just taking your money. The server is crap, no space at all and they asking you immediately to pay extra. If you cancel within 3 days, you get no money back although live chat promising 90 days! Pack of lies. Stay away if you don't want to get involve Police and the Bank fraud department!

Order challenges
I appreciate the updates after ordering. The ordering process took a while. I ended up having to do it twice and the second time through cost a few bucks more for the same thing. I'd tried a few months ago to get a similar set-up, but there was no availability. Other than that, I was happy with the chat support during the order. It was fast! I also appreciate the updates on how close we are to setting up. I look forward to working with Hostwinds!

Buying their good reviews!
Ive worked with almost every major and minor host over the past 10 years. The sales guys know their stuff to get that sale, but everyone else will mislead, miscommunicate, overcharge, misrepresent and sabotage your hosting related business. There is a reason Hostwinds do NOT do refunds. Best looking but worst actual mid sized hosting company out there. DON'T BE FOOLED! FIND ANOTHER HOSTING COMPANY!

I can say that Hostwinds hosting has met my expectations. I've had nothing but success when working with this professional web hosting provider. Special requests have always come through quickly and gracefully. I thought of moving to other hosts but this service is really good and I'm gonna stay with them for quite some time. When I asked all the necessary questions I needed and their support answered it politely I've decided to get an account.

I have been an established customer for over two years. You folks have never failed me. Although technical issues are rare with your awesome service, when I did have one, you were all very knowledgeable. If there was something one of you did not know, then I got an honest "I am not sure. Let me ask someone who would know for certain." Customers admire honesty above ego. You folks do amazing things. It is most logical that I choose you for upgrading my services. Bluehost may be cheaper, but I never once got the same personal touch with them that I get with all of you in every chat, e-mail, or call. You listen. You relate. You are personal and professional. Good job.

Uncommon. Unparalleled.
After spending around 8 days trying to get technical help from other companies who were key players in our solution - from software OEM to developers, but who did not, we were left in the lurch. Hostwinds, whose hosting service was only a small part in the total solution that we needed, was the only party who cared to tie it all together. All of it. Hostwinds did this with patience, depth of knowledge, professionalism, and friendliness. They spent around 20 minutes with pre-sale help, their technical configuration guys were done in around 15 mins after purchase. And many hours later at night when we got stuck, one of their technical support engineers spent almost two hours assisting us with setup that was way beyond their hosting scope. Step by step. I chose Hostwinds because Jochen helped me about a week ago by answering every single question I had. Very polite and helpful with determining where I would end up going. Your service is phenomenal so this was the ultimate place. As a student doing a project for my final class in college, I wanted to ensure I chose a company I felt comfortable with and this has been a good experience for me so far.

Live Chat was educated and not Indians. By that, I mean English speaking and knowledgeable, not ethnicity. I don't know or care if the Live Chat person was Indian by birth.

I decided to try Hostwinds because Live Chat wasn't Indian in terms of ability to speak my language and understand my concerns.

No more India ever again, please. And, seriously, no Nigeria or Bangladesh. WTF are firms that do that thinking? VPS hosts are selling to developers. You need Western English speakers for that.

I was fortunate to have the guidance offered by your Front-line support. WIth using VPN, each selection reset the chat. That did not deter any of the staff from being extremely helpful. Luke, Nyles, I'm leaving off at least another one... all have superb knowledge of the product offerings. If it wasn't for their guidance and clear answers, I ended up choosing a VPS in Amsterdam, which will allow for us to expand our non-profit efforts to EU as well as Eastern Europe. Always a pleasure!
