I purchased a recliner from them that came with a 1 year warranty. 6 months after purchasing the recliner, the wooden frame broke which made me really sad because I LOVED this recliner. I looked at what the warranty covered and saw that wood was covered so I called JCP to let them know that my recliner had broken.
I was told by customer service that they would get this over to the department that handles repairs and someone would call me within the week to discuss my options. That took almost a month before anyone called me back. They blamed it on COVID but this just happened a couple of months ago so not sure if that’s the real reason.
They finally called and said that they can’t repair my recliner because they would have to cut the fabric to do so. I was told my options were to pay them to come pick it up, pay a restocking fee, and then they would refund me for the purchase price of my recliner once I purchased another recliner from them OR they would give me a 30% credit to keep it as is.
I don’t understand why they would warranty something they can’t fix. I am so glad I didn’t spend the money to purchase the extended warranty.
I ended up keeping the recliner and paying a third party to come and take it to the dump. The entire experience with JCP regarding how they handled my recliner breaking was very disappointing. I don’t plan to buy anything else from them.
They lost a “valued” customer. :-(
The product selection is not as large as it used to be. One thing I have noticed is salespeople acting and dressing in a very non-professional way. The lady that waited on me today at the pick up counter was wearing a faded black sweatshirt. The other clerk was wearing leggings with a tight shirt that was a bit short. Not sure what the dress code is, but there should be one.
Lots of personal conversations going on while waiting on customers.
The product I ordered online was not the correct measurement, and they charged me $8.95 shipping the first time I ordered the dress. Later, due to measurement issues, when I wanted to change the size of the dress, they requested another $8.95 shipping fees. That's paying almost $18 for a $40 dress! And their customer service was also the worst! Truly a let down.
I bought a ring from the website and had it shipped to me. When it arrived I was concerned because the envelope looks really flat. When I opened it...only the packing slip was inside..NO RING. I called the 1800 number right away to only find out I would have to go file a police report and send them that to start a process of even getting a refund or my ring I paid for.
I was waiting in the jewelry section of JC for over 20 minute's. Finally.a lady said she would be right with me when she was finished with the client she.had. about 5 minutes later, so client came in and the sales lady started helping her. 3 ladies were working and not one came to help me! I was there first. You need to let clients take NUMBERS so it's fair to ALL!!!! You missed out on a sale. I was at Pennys in Victorville CA. Terrible way to work with clients!!!
I ordered a beautiful purple dress to wear to church for Easter Sunday. They sent the wrong item. I received an American flag full length pajama onesie. Not at all Easter appropriate! Customer service said if I return the wrong item they will refund and I can reorder the right one. There is no way it will arrive by Easter now and I surely can’t wear the pajamas for church on Easter. Very disappointing!
I have back problems and have been looking to buy an adjustable bed. Since my husband and I have different needs we decided to go with a split king size mattress which comes with the separate adjustable base. We went to a few mattress stores but we decided to buy from JCPenny because their employee Linda from the Spring Hill store was a breath of fresh air from the moment I met her. She was very genuine, knowledgeable and respectful in how she helped me maneuver in finding the right mattress for me and my husband. I felt reassured that what I was buying was not only the right mattress for us but the best quality for our money. Linda has a way of making you feel like you are just shopping with a friend who can guide you in the right direction. I’m so glad I met and had the pleasure of working with someone who goes above and beyond her job duties because she is all about helping the customer and making you feel assured your purchasing a great deal. As for our mattress it was delivered in a timely fashion and we are happy with our choice.
I like jcpenney but their customer service is horrible, in the stores and online.
I recently placed an order online, 2 hours later I realized I had made a mistake on two of the 3 items I ordered, so I called to cancel the order, after waiting 20 minutes some one in Bangladesh answered to tell me I can't cancel the order, I have to wait to receive the order and then to return it to the store or send it by ups.
How stupid is that, now I have to wait 3 weeks to get a wrong order and then drive to the store to return it.
I will start off w/I like jcp’s I can find clothes for me or the grandkids. Found a coupon online so saved me even more. Now the cleanliness of the Appleton store is terrible. Even my 9 yr old granddaughter said something. Now could it be there’s not enough help , maybe. It looked like a tornado went through some of the areas. The dressing rm was dirty. Hire some cleaners bcuz it needs it.
JC penny is the worst place to ever purchase a mattress, it took almost 1yr to get my order correct, they continually messed up my order, then made me purchase a 2nd mattress then a third due to Ryder loosing the mattress before refunding my money, worst delivery service ever (Ryder) very unprofessional, they schedule your delivery then cancel, then loose a mattress with no record to prove anything, go purchase a mattress elsewhere and save yourself a lot of stress. After all the inconvenience I encountered all Jc penny was willing to compensate me with was a $50 gift card and almost 1yr wait time,The Mattress was $800, I will never purchase another mattress from penny's EVER AGAIN...Go elsewhere where the mattress is in stock and they have a reputable company delivering where you can speak directly to a live person instead of an automated service. This is an actual honest review, if I could've given penny's a 0 for a rating for that transaction I would have...
Just a suggestion. When an order is placed to pick up at the store it might be a good idea to e mail the purchaser so they know it is ready for pick up.
I got an email today my order was canceled for not picking it up on time but how was I to know was ready pick up if you never bothered to let me know.
Oh well found the items elsewhere and actually saved money.
I purchased 5 items with a JCPenney Gift card and the balance on a Visa gift card. Most of it was on the JCPenney card. I returned 2 of the items. I did not see a credit so I called Customer Care and was told the credit was put on the Visa card. I explained that I no longer have that card. I was told to call the bank. It was gift card that I no longer have so I do not know the bank. I feel that they just made money off of me.
Customer service, and quality control sucks !!! (Putting it mildly) ..... I ordered a jacket online, when I looked at the receipt it was listed as the wrong size, couldn't contact customer service till 8 am next day, because they where closed. Then, when I do get ahold of someone and tell them i checked on the order, and the item is saying it hasn't been shipped or left the warehouse yet, and is still in processing. They say they can't do anything after 30 min of the order being placed to correct it, even if it hasnt left the warehouse yet. Thats just plain stupid !!! Now, I have to wait on the wrong item to be shipped to me, return it, then wait on the correct one. This is stupid, when they could correct the order before it gets shipped out the first time......
Will not buy anything else from this store. Major quality control needs to happen !!!!
I had to order a suite for my sons wedding for my husband and it came in the wrong size. When I called they said they couldn't just do an exchange that I had to order a whole new suite. So I had to pay for it AGAIN! Then they tell me it will be 3-5 weeks for the return. I resubmitted my order on 2/24 and I call today and got they tell me it just got processed on 3/16!!! Then they say it will be 3-5 weeks AGAIN! Then we had to reorder my sons pants 6 times who is the groom! The wedding is in two weeks and we are not even guaranteed delivery by then! ABSOLUTELY the worst place ever!!! Will never step foot in their stores again!
I was disappointed in the delivery time for an online order of a mattress om Feb 19. I was told that I would be called March 2, I was not called. So I called and was given a number for the shippers. I called them and they said my mattress would be delivered Mar. 10, it was not delivered. So I had to call them again to set a delivery date for Mar 15. I would not order a mattress from JCPenney again, too slow for delivery and too much hassle.
I recently placed an online order. I ordered a mens belt and they sent me baby clothes instead. I requested a return and sent the baby clothes back. My return was received but they charged me an $8.00 return fee. I have called customer service 3 times and have been put on hold for close to an hour each time...conveniently they close about 45 minutes after being put on hold and disconnect my call every time. My problem can't be solved online, I need a human. I have had so many other issues in the past with out of stock orders. It's sad but sorry JCP, I am done, you have struck out with me. I will not deal with the hassle ever again.
I have for 50 years only shopped at JCP for all my bedding, drapes, blinds etc. only place to buy and offer the best quality and prices for Petite women and big and tall men. Their clothing line still remains quality. I would not purchase anywhere else. Even today received my husbands shoes which the sale price was so great on line that I bought him 3 pairs.
Remain loyal customer to the best store. Thank you JCP for still carrying petites for women.
I placed an order for a canvas art piece that was on sale with better pricing that buying direct from Big Canvas or ICanvas. I requested cancellation with 1 day of placing the order as it would not be fabricated and shipped with arrival for 2 weeks. JC Penny refused to cancel the order stating they had a 30 minute policy for cancellations. This is absolutely ridiculous, and I will not be shopping with this retailer in the future.
JCPenny is the absolute worst place to shop. I purchased a high-end mattress and used my credit card. However, I did not receive a purchase receipt with an order number online or in my email. I phoned to get clarity of my purchase and once I received the order number, I asked why we had received a notice from the credit card company stating JCPenny had canceled the order due to non-payment.
Needless to say, I was livid! I then spent, and this is no lie, 5 hours on the phone trying to find out why JCPenny had kept my almost $2,000.00 then canceled the order. I spoke with 5-7 customer service representative, 2 supervisors, and 2 managers who sounded as if they were in a crazy loop saying the same thing over and over.
Long story short, I ended up putting the credit card company and JCPenny on two separate phones so I could get to the bottom of where the money was that I would expected to pay back. JCPenny stated that they had charged my credit card and then placed a hold on the funds; so now, they said I had to use another card to make the payment to get the item and my original payment dropped off and returned to the credit card.
As long as this complaint is, JCPenney did not attempt to make this situation right in any shape or form. I encourage everyone, to please stay away from JCPenny and do not, please do.not try to use credit cards so you can be charged twice for high end items.

I am a retired JCPenney employee and have worked in 2 JCPenney store locations. I spend my winter months here in Naples & shop at the Naples JCPenney. In the past 2 years I have had the pleasure to be assisted by Maritza Martininez in windows and mattresses. I would like to commend her on her excellent service, friendly additive over and beyond. She was very helpful in each of my purchases. She is a very valued employee and because of her great service, I will be back to shop in this location. Sincerely Linda C Meyer
