Horrible service. Not worth your time.
I ordered a textbook 2.5 weeks ago. At the 2 week mark, when I hadn't heard anything, I emailed customer service to see what was going on. 3 days later, I was told Knetbooks weren't able to source the book. I'm sorry, what? Why are you renting/selling books you don't even have? And then not informing your customers, who are waiting on their books to come in the mail, that you can't find it? Now here I am having to scramble to find a textbook for my class that starts next week. I doubt I'll get a new order in in time, so now this whole debaucle is going to affect my grade.

The worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
If you do order from Knetbooks, you can expect free shipping and a wide selection of books. You can also expect to never get your book, and to get really terrible customer service. My book didn't have shipping information for a week after I ordered it and I just had an interaction with the customer service where Knetbooks were quite snippy, and according to the new tracking number they gave me, my book has not even been shipped as of yet. A week. So I am now terribly behind on getting my work done. Do not waste your time with this company, despite their price and free shipping, they are a disaster as a company and you should look elsewhere for books.

BIGGEST SCAMMERS EVER!
Today was the worst day of my life... here i am at the grocery store with my child in line to check out. I go to pay the bill and my card gets declined. HOW embarrassing, and left me confused since i knew there was enough (considering tomorrow my rent is due). I quick check my bank account and don't see where my money went (knet books wiped out my entire checking account, and dipped into most of my savings, also causing me to have an overdraft fee *thanks guys just kick me while i'm down*) I run to the bank freaking out thinking someone had gotten a hold of my banking information... NOPE i was informed that knetbooks took over 500$ from me (not even sure of exact amount i was in shock and lost my train of thought while lady was telling me). I check my email, how nice of them Knetbooks sent a email notifying me TODAY that my books are late. I made sure that knetbooks emails get sent to my inbox and not spam account BECAUSE THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME! I never got a email reminding me that the books were due (which they kept talking about last time this happened telling me make sure that their emails do not go to my spam account), i did chat with a gentleman earlier after this all happened and he managed to get me a 75% refund. But this will not be enough to cover my rent and groceries,. I called my landlord crying my eyes out and managed to get me some time to try and get all of the money needed to pay the rent and not get kicked out. So few hours later I finally feel a little better. Than the customer service finally called me back (like 4 hours later). And all this lady kept telling me that it is my responsibility to remember the date i picked to send my books i rent many months ago. Heck at least the gentleman I chatted with earlier had some compassion. Overall this company is horrible rip off. ONLY reason I went back to this with this last rental was because the last time this happened to me they wouldn't even give my money back only a credit of 50% of the total cost they charged me which was around 400-500. NEVER EVER AGAIN will come back.

DONT DO IT - from the girl who never writes reviews
I have used Knet, from time to time here and there during undergrad, Knetbooks aren't the most reliable but they definitely are the cheapest so why not. Im in law school now and I had ordered my book a week in advance to get my books in a timely manner. However that whole week one of the book stated " order processing" and the other said " order in". The are not available weekends so I grew concerned that these book wouldn't make in time for class when I had called Monday, they said that they didn't have the book in the warehouse, and they source they tried to buy it from wouldn't allow them, ( so basically they offered a book they didn't know they had) and that the other one ALTHOUGH I HAD PAYED FOR 1-4 DAY SHIPPING had not been sent out in that week spand because it takes them 3-5 DAYS to get it out the warehouse which doesn't have any relevance to the cost of shipping you pay. The MANAGER DAN was AWFUL he was rude, short sighted and when I demanded that I be given my money back he scoffed and said "yeah you'll get it back it 3-5 days okay have a great day " Super unprofessional. Im never one to write reviews but honestly id just pay the extra cash off any other renter sight because cheap isn't always the right move and I think knetbooks is a prime example of that. Don't Do It! Unless the availability says ships In 24 hrs.

I rented a book on Cultural Anthropology for this past...
I rented a book on Cultural Anthropology for this past semester with a rental price of approximately $35.00. My semester ended just before the holidays. Then on December 30th I got a call from my wife asking if I had bought $205.00 worth of books. To my shock, I checked our account and found that knetbooks had charged me the full retail price of a new book! The book I received was 'good' at best, as it had been scribbled in throughout, highlighted heavily, and had some cover damage. I printed out the label that day and sent it back. I waited until Jan. 12th before calling, as no refund had been issued. I tried their online chat, which turned out to be non-operational. So, I called them. After waiting for 40 minutes, I finally spoke with an ineffectual customer service agent without any power to do anything aside from recite the company's policies. I expected to be assessed a nominal late fee. Since the book cost $35.00 for an entire semester, I figured a $10-$20 late fee would be punitive. Man, was I wrong! Their policy is to refund only half the purchase price of the book! So, because it was less than a week late, I got robbed for $205.00, and despite the book being returned, now Knetbooks are only refunding $102.90. To put this in perspective, at a semester rental rate of approx. $35, I could have rented it for almost an entire year for the amount they kept. I have been in school a long while. I have used numerous book rental companies and have NEVER come across such an unscrupulous outfit. As of this post, I have not received the promised call from a supervisor. I can not urge you strongly enough to avoid giving this company your business. I have arrived at the conclusion that their rental price is cheaper than most as a loss leader to get your account information. Once they have that, they have you! Their intentions appear to be to sell you a used book at inflated new book prices after charging you the rental. At this point, I am out the $35.00 rental price, the $205.00 purchase price. I received a credit of $102.90. So, I have spent a total of $137.05 for a used book rental that I no longer have, as I mailed it back in good faith. That's a pretty steep rental price for a used paperback. I will be posting to every customer review forum on the web, filing a formal complaint with the BBB, and making it my mission to expose this outfit for the crooks they are. Thank you.

This "company" is a huge SCAM!
This "company" is a huge SCAM! DO NOT rent anything from them! I rented a book and knew I wasn't going to be able to return it to them on time. I called and was told there were no options (even though people were offered extensions, I was NEVER offered one!) I sent the book back and Knetbooks claimed they never received it so they charged my account. I called my bank and disputed the charges. The bank refunded my money but made contact with Knetbooks. Knetbook is now stating my book is "damaged" First they didn't have it and now it's damaged?! Obviously a HUGE scam to STEAL money from college students struggling to survive anways. My bank is now siding with them and taking my money back out. I will NEVER ever rent/buy from them again and I will surely make sure no one else does! On top of that, the book is $30 on Amazon but they're claiming it's worth $145. I can't stress this enough: please save yourself the hassle (5 months later and I'm still dealing with this) and money and go somewhere else!

Scam you out of money
Knetbooks sent me an email on 6/6 saying that my order is due 6/5. That doesn't help much. Then when I try to login to my account, and it said my account was expired. I have to login to my account to extend a due date, print off the UPS return label, etc. So I try to reset my account and it said I should get an email in moments. Never got the email. The website says they have great customer service and a number to call. Can't find the number anywhere. So I have to email them and wait who knows how many days for a response. Bad customer service, don't care about the customer at all, do NOT recommend.

HORRIBLE!
Wish I could rate a negative. Ordered a book for my brother, which the ordered was cancelled due to a payment discrepancy. However the payment was taken out the same day and we paid for expedited shipping. Yet, we do not have a book, money will not be returned for 3-5 days, and let's just say customer service is horrible. When I finally was able to speak to someone, the gentleman was rude, impatient and even huffed and puffed one the phone. I asked to speak to someone other than him and he said I'd have to call back because he couldn't transfer. I asked to speak to a manager and he said she was already gone. I asked to speak with the billing department and he said Knetbooks didn't have a phone. I explained that the card information was good however it did not give me the option to update the billing information. He in turn said it was their I just didn't see it. I told him it did not, which lead to him to saying the most lucrative thing I've heard in awhile... Because the card is good that's why the money was taken. Now, my questions are... How does a company process credit card information without verify the address information before taking the money? Why does it take longer to return the money versus taking it? Worst experience ever!

Horrible
I ordered a book eight days ago for college. I found this site was the cheapest among others even if you did pay for over night or two day shipping. So I payed two day shipping thinking that I got away with a dream deal. EIGHT days later i still do not have my book. I called the company this morning and Knetbooks would only refund half of my two day shipping fee. They forget to mention in their website that they are a third party who gets their books from who knows where, and they are only liable to withhold the faster shipping once they receive the book from the third party. Meaning it could take them 5-8 business days before they even receive the book themselves. Needless to say, go with amazon or chegg. I will never use this website again.

If I could rate 0 stars I would
If I could rate them 0 stars I would. In fact I would rate them negative. I called 4 days before my book was due and requested an extension. The rep on the phone said that was fine, it was $20 and some change and took my card number and said everything was good to go. 5 days after my rental was originally due, I receive a charge for over $300. When called to ask Knetbooks stated they did not have record of me calling before it was due and that if it was returned within 15 days they could refund me only $150 of the $300. They did absolutely nothing to try to make things right. I will NEVER use this poor excuse for a company. This is by far the worst textbook rental company I have ever used and I have used many.

WARNING... Not a good idea to rent from Knetbooks
I have 5 kids. Three are in college now... one graduate... and one high school student in a private school. You can imagine our textbook costs every semester. We ALWAYS purchase or rent our books online. I have been charged $133 by Knetbooks for two books after failing to return two books on time. It appears my daughter (rising Junior) left for summer camp in June WITHOUT returning her books. Grrr... I have the books. I found them in her room. So I emailed Knetbooks asking under what conditions Knetbooks will allow me to return them. Their response was "no returns" and "try to sell them". A total lack of consideration and customer service. On the other hand, BookByte had AMAZING customer service (same situation with the same daughter who left for summer camp without returning her books). Below is their prompt and courteous response. Can you guess where our family will be purchasing and renting in the fall? BookByte's financial recovery, because of their response, will be far greater than the loss of business for Knetbooks. It is sad that Knetbooks made the decision to save a few pennies. We all know that it cost much more to recruit a new customer than it cost to retain an existing customer. Oh, here is BookByte's email. Maybe Knetbook will review their policy in the future in order to compete with other companies.

Processing time and customer service = Bloody terrible.
So I'm taking a summer class and I find out what book I'll be needing on the first day of class. My usual rental sites I use, among all others that I felt okay with using stated that Knetbooks were out of stock of the book i was needing.
Then I discovered Knetbooks; much to my dismay. I order the book on Tuesday at 4pm so yes considerably late in the afternoon. But Its now Monday of the following week and my order still says "prosessing" on Knetbooks. I talked to a live Rep. And she stated that the time it takes books to be processed can be 3-5 days. It took more than 5 days, so I asked if I could be compensated for the delay on processing on their part, because I'll now be completely unprepared for my first test and the money I spent for faster shipping is being negatively affected by their processing times. I received no kind of help or compensation from the customer service. It took them one day shy of a full week to process my order and "supposedly" my book just sent according to customer service.
So perhaps if you have no kind of time time frame of when you would like to receive your book, then I would suggest using Knetbooks. If your like most of us however, DO NOT use them. You've been warned haha. Best of luck people :)

Dishonest Business Practice
If I could rate them less than the one star, I would. Like many others who have written scathing reviews, I am one more dissatisfied customer. Their business ethics are lacking and their policy is nothing short of a bait and switch scam. Knetbooks will rent you books but charge you full textbook prices for being late with your return. Barnes & Noble will charge you a late fee similar to their rental fee; Knetbooks will charge you for books you do not have possession of and will never have possession of. They basically charge you full price for books that you don't own; at least if you purchase through your school's bookstore, you can sell it back. This is such a questionable and dishonest policy that I am looking into a way to file a complaint with the a federal agency since they are conducting business across state lines and taking money while neither providing a product nor a service in return. These fines are more ridiculous than credit card fines. Please take your business elsewhere, I am posting messages on all student bulletin boards at every community college and university near me about avoiding this company.

Terrible scammers
Absolutely horrible experience with this company. Knetbooks are extremely deceiving and dishonest. I placed an order with them and requested to cancel my order hours later. I made sure that the book had not been shipped yet. They went ahead and shipped my order anyways. They emailed me saying it was too late to cancel the order. I am absolutely certain that they did this purposely so that I would have to pay to send the book back. When I received the book, I immediately shipped it back and asked for a full refund. The online system was offering me $3 out of the $17.50 that I paid. Absolutely ridiculous. I emailed them immediately asking for a FULL refund. They agreed to issue me a FULL refund, however, my account showed I was only going to be refunded $12.20 out of the $17.20. I emailed them once again asking them to fix this. They agreed to change the amount to $17.20. However, once I checked my bank statement, I discovered that they only refunded me the $12.20. This is absolutely unacceptable! They continuously lied to me! Did they think I would forget to check my bank statement and blindly believe that they'd refund me the full amount? I have all my emails as proof. Don't waste your time with this dishonest and TERRIBLE company. I am still waiting to receive my entire refund from these scammers.

Never again
I rented a book and paid for 2 business day shipping ($16.99) on Wednesday. Their customer service is closed on the weekends so I called today (Monday) to question where my shipment was, since I had not received an email that it had shipped. I was informed Knetbooks cancelled my order and will give me a refund but they never sent me an email notifying me of this. I clearly ordered this textbook and paid a ridiculous amount in shipping to get the textbook for a certain day. I will never order from KnetBooks again due to the lack of customer service care.

Charged for a book I never received
Ordered a book for class and never received my order. I contacted Knetbooks and was told that UPS marked book as delivered and because of that Knetbooks have to go by what UPS states. Mind you, I lived in a locked, accessed controlled building. I was home all day on the date of the supposed delivery and I never let anyone in the building. The book was never delivered but because some random delivery person states it was delivered to my door, I am on the hook for a $100+ textbook that I never even saw. KentBooks keeps saying that there is nothing they can do. BS, they most definitely just lost a loyal customer.

Scam/fraud company
Never emailed me my conformation or tracking number. Never got the textbook yet claim I have it. I rent all my textbooks with no problem. However, this company is a scam. I did a chat conversation with a lady named Sarah, she was an incompetent person who ended the chat suddenly. I then opened another chat hoping to resolve this problem because clearly Sarah was of no help. So then I spoke with a man named Anothy who also left the chat after I said that there are ways people can send false tracking numbers and make it look like something shipped when in reality nothing did. Also, said that if UPS said I never got anything what would I need to do and he wasn't able to answer and I asked him like 3 times. Again, this is a scam of a company. DO NOT bother with them. Use other websites, so far this is the only website that I have had a problem with.

Renter Beware! Xerox copy substituted for a real book.
I ordered a rental book called Constitutional Law and Criminal Justice System. What I received was a Xerox copy, 3-hole punched, unbound, with the Cengage Learning logo on the bottom of the first page. Knetbooks started the email string by saying that I received what I ordered, however I could return it and they would refund my money. I have contacted Cengage yet to see if what they sent me was a pirated copy or not. Sending a xerox copy when I ordered a book seems sketchy in the first place. When I emailed them that what I wanted was what I ordered, a book, they told me they didn't have any of the books I needed and I could send them back their copy. I guess they wanted to re-rent the xerox copy to someone else. At any rate, the burden is on me to find another book, order it, then return the rented xerox to Knetbooks. I'm sorry, I don't find that solution helpful and I wonder about the ethics of a company that sends xeroxed copies out without telling the buyer what they are getting.

Horrible book company. Crooks
My daughter is a new college student. I ordered her books from several sites. This place had no problem taking my money and over 9 days later after told it would ship within 5 days still no book and no one can tell me why or when it will ship. My books from chegg Amazon and textbook.com have all come in. Knetbooks also say it will take at least a week to get my money back. I will never use this company again you can't speak to a supervisor nobody seems to know anything even simple questions like why it hasn't shipped when it will ship or what is going on. If you want your books in any time frame at all please use any other bookstore online

Obscenely irresponsible company
Received an email notification indicating that my textbook had arrived. Package was nowhere to be found. Waited 2 days, as the email suggested, but still no package. I reached out using the instructions provided, and what I received was the response attached here. No responsibility was taken for my lost package, and Knetbooks had the gall to tell me I would be responsible for a rental that never arrived.

I am stunned at what passes for customer service with this vendor, and encourage everyone to think twice before making any orders with this company, lest they might like to find themselves in the same boat.
