I have ordered a few things from this site & have a few opinions of my own.
You must check the sizing charts on everything u order.
The majority of ladies wear is targeted at perfect 6’ tall, size 0 model, not so good if you’re 5’1” & a size 16, so expect to pay extra for alterations if u can’t sew like me! 🫣
Expect a lengthy wait for delivery to the UK & beware that delivery dates are not always honoured.
I’m essence you CANT return items, it’s just not feasible, so check reviews for extra sizing, fabric or extras the info guide doesn’t give you!
It’s a good & varied site with exceptional choices, you just need to be careful as noted above.
Enjoy your purchases & good luck 😉
I did not realise the dresses I ordered would come from Asia.
The dresses were not tagged (card tag attached usually to the neck and can be cut off when satisfied with the purchase). Nor did they have a fabric tag sewn to the inside seam of the dresses - so no washing instructions, bar code - 'nothing'!
The fabric of at least one of the dresses was awful - more like plastic.
Due to the poor quality fabric and sizing (different for each dress), 4 of them need to be returned.
This is an awful experience. Light in the Box do everything they can to make it difficult for you to return unwanted items. They suggest that it is your fault the dresses don't fit ie you didn't take enough care when ordering the items. They say you have 7 days to organise the return, but each time the customer service responds, you have to jump through another hoop and the days tick by.
And then when they acknowedge you can return the items, they say the do not have a 'returns form'. Instead you are expected to post the items back to the warehouse in Asia, with some random message on the front so that the package gets through customs, and wait 4 weeks or more for the refund to happen.
Frankly after this performance, I don't trust Light in the Box to make the refund. I anticipate after 4 weeks or so that they will say the package didn't arrive / wasn't returned.
All in all, a terrible experience and one which I will not be repeating.

Ordered a dress standard size. Arrived. Would only fit a Barbie Doll. Quality was very poor and did not represent the advertised dress whatsoever. Am still trying to return for full refund - the company keep asking for proof there’s a problem! Keep offering some kind of part refund only. Surely saying it would never fit as is not true to size should be good enough. Reading the other reviews below it looks as if they’ll never refund me, and do some kind of postage scam. Disappointing. I’ll have to learn from this and will never use this company again. I’m also going to make sure others aren’t burnt like myself, and other reviewers here have been. Nothing spreads faster than bad press.
Light in the box is a SCAM website! Be careful do not buy. They scammed 400 dollars for a dress, I was in a hurry to buy for my opera concert, never again! I asked for refund they disappeared (do not believe them if they reply here immediately is just for marketing, they are afraid of bad reviews because otherwise their scam doesn't work). You know what is their strategy if you ask for a refund? They disappear, after they offer a coupon for an other product and if you send the item you will not get the refund money back. Is a scam! The dress is bad quality, it loses all the sparkling things my house is full of that ***! NEVER BUY THEY SCAM YOUR MONEY be careful guys buy only on trustworthy websites!
I purchased clothing from LightInTheBox years ago but could not get the sizing correct. Now years later, i saw a shirt i really liked advertised on Facebook , so i did an image search and bingo, found the exact same shirt on LITB at half the price, but i wasnt convinced it would be the same quality, but i bought it. OMG, how LightInTheBox has improved, i am so impressed. From placing my order rite up to delivery, everything was above expectation and my beautiful shirt was delivered in just a week, WoW.. Now thats what i call a well organised system. Well done to all at LITB..
Finally.. The shirt is stunning, sizing was just perfect, and the quality is first class. So guess what.. I was back ordering more.. Spoilt for choice as well.
Im back to stay... 10/10.. Every box ticked ✅
I have ordered 3 dresses, the delivery was a little long but nothing compared to the disappointment when I started to look at the dresses.
All of them were made of very poor quality fabric, one had a broken zip, another one which was supposed to have a long tulle skirt had the inner skirt so short that it didn't even cover my underwear.
The colours of one of the dresses weren't even shown on the website.
I have contacted the customer service to return the items, and they are making things so difficult requesting pictures and descriptions and all the kinds of questions that make me feel ashamed because they are assuming that my body size is not correct asking me to check my dimensions and send them to them in pictures!!!!
This has never happened to me before on any other website I have used.
We should be free to buy a dress, try it and if it doesn't fit, just be able to return without all this harassment.
The worst buy of my life. Not only I paid an “express delivery” supposedly for 4 days, which turned out to be more than 2 months, when I tried to cancel they told me they would only reimburse half, but as a gesture they give me some of the express cost back. So I had to accept and wait for what I thought would be dresses I could use on another occasion, given that the event I needed them for in the first place had come and gone.
When I finally received the dresses, what I received made me gasp out of disgust. The blue dress could have been made by a child, the quality is shocking. It is simply unwearable or unsalable. The second “dress” was not a dress at all, it was just the wrap, which the advert mislead completely.
I have added photos of what I received and at the end of what I was expecting.
Do NOT fall for these charlatans, they are crooks and thieves. They take away your hard earned money and they have no conscious!
My package arrived timeously & in good order but their sizing is wrong. I'm petite & take a size XS at most retailers so since Light In the Box don't offer ladies XS, I had to order their S, knowing I'd need to most probably have it made a size smaller. However, the one dress I received was at least 2 sizes too big for me & the other one was at least 3 sizes too big. I don't know where they get their sizing from but either they need to offer XXXS or XXS sizes or they need to change their sizing & fit because their S is nowhere near a South African S. Do Chinese manufacturers think we are enormous?! I look like I am drowning in their clothes. My husband & children laughed at me when I tried them on. I could see they were going to be miles bigger than a S before I even fitted them on. They seriously look like tents! Their S should be labelled L or even XL & they need to make downgrade their patterns for the the smaller sizes.
This is the worst company I have ordered anything from. Ever.
I ordered two pairs of trousers that arrived with the leg measurement 5cm shorter than advertised on their website.
I raised a ticket and was told that I needed to provide photographs of the bar code on both items. I did this.
Then I was told that I need to provide photographic evidence that the the trousers measured 101cm in length and not 106cm in length as advertised. I did this too.
I have now received an email stating that I have to pay postage to return these items to China!!
So let me summarise: They send you an item that is faulty and you have to pay the fees to post it back to China? That is a breach of Trading Standards in the UK and they should not be allowed to trade in this country.
I look forward to seeing their reply to this, which I will reply to!
Nice looking clothes, reasonably priced, delivered in a couple weeks. What we would expect from an overseas retailer doing mail order business in the US. Not exactly...
BUYER BEWARE, I would like to share my experience for those trying to decide of they should click "place my order", or move on. If you do order from this company, be prepared to keep whatever they throw in your mailbox, they make returns very difficult if not impossible.
Although the clothes are cute and the quality appears to be satisfactory, the sizing is NOT accurate. I ordered three tops in size "M" and only one actually fit. These items are much smaller than a typical M in the US marketplace. Tried to initiate a return and things got really frustrating. Ten days of back and forth, requesting pictures of the UPC on the packages, then lay the items out on the floor and take pictures with a ruler, then we need more pictures. Really? The items don't fit and are simply very small for their advertised size. One of the three items fit, I'm not crazy or lying to myself about what my size really is... Now I must send them back at my own expense to China - or "We understand how expensive a return can be, so we will offer you a 60% credit on a future order, or 40% of a refund to just keep the items". NO, this was not my fault, and they don't fit. What makes them think a partial refund will make me feel good about squeezing into a sausage casing of a blouse? I understand business, costs, and minimizing liabilities but lightinthebox has no true intent of standing behind what they sell. They have tried to draw out the return process to frustrate a customer until the $36 is no longer worth the trouble.
If you feel like playing the lottery for sizes, click away. If you expect a "free return" as advertised at the top of the page when you google search the company you will be disappointed.
This company have a returns policy that is both obsurd and is a means to make it nearly impossible to do so..The items took over 5 weeks to arrive and then when they did they were all random sizes that were not
What we ordered. We were then offered a small % refund and to keep the stock which aren't suitable...then I've been told to send them back by the cheapest postage to China! Pretty certain I've lost out big time. Please keep well clear!!!!
I have chased and chased and STILL no resolution
SHOCKING SERVICE. Lightinabox are not to be dealt with. I have escalated this to a supervisor but still not a response. I've never thought getting my moneyback would be this difficult.
Bought a shift dress and wrap. Checked equivalent sizing on their chart which suggested that for a UK size 18 I would need XXXL. When my order arrived ( fairly promptly) I found to my horror it was more like a size 24! I decided to return my item. The next few days were a nightmare trying to negotiate the Light in the Box website. You have to apply for a ticket in your orders . the ticket has a number. You then have to wait while customer orders reviews your return . Then you are supposed to be sent a product return form However no form was issued as they were apparently very busy When finally I managed to contact the company I was given three options. One- to return to China where I would be responsible for expensive shipping and tracking costs and would only have a refund on the item itself. Two- I could keep the dress with a 5% discount .Three- I could keep the item and get a Reward which valued 20%of the item I was returning as a coupon ,/voucher to use as a discount for future orders. I was instructed to return to Asia depot with a host of details to include. The cost of return and tracking was nearly half the cost of the dress . I decided to give up and keep the useless dress which means I have already wasted time and money for nothing.I cannot wear the item and it will cost more to have a considerable alteration I was attracted by light in the box goods but I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN .I feel as if I have been conned well and truly !
DISGUSTING COMPANY
**AVOID at ALL COSTS**
Two dresses ordered. One dress was wrongly advertised on the website. The dress was obviously a cheaper copycat that had features similar to the advertised dress but was certainly not the dress I had purchased.
The other was three sizes bigger than the sizing chart provided.
My experience with the company has been extremely disappointing. The products are not fit for purpose and thus False adverting, this company is trading illegal.
I am waiting for further information from the company as to the outcome of my situation
I do not want to receive
(Following quote from the company)
‘a) a reward of 50% of the product's value, which you can use on your next order to get discounted price. ’ as I do not want to waste my money on a product falsely advertised and be in the same situation
b) ‘Keep the item with a refund of 30% of the product's value.’ - after spending £120 30% isn’t good enough.
a full refund inc covering the return costs (return cost £25) at this point will only be acceptable before I take further legal action.
I have recently made a few purchases. from light in the box and items I have received were much to my satisfaction the only items I were not happy about pairs of trousers I received I was very disappointed with them they would be better if they were cotton
Had a problem with tops I received not up to scratch I think they were made of cheap material - they could have been better
Waiting for dresses hopefully they fit as Chinese sizes are very different to ours. I have had to wait nearly 1/2 months for orders placed . I also think that orders could be handled better and could be early dispatched than the are better material should be used on many garments as now they use cheap material on many items could be better on customer service I think they should do orders quicker than now.
I read the reviews on here when I was initiating a return to Light in the Box and they are all true... they absolutely do make things extreeemely difficult! I needed to return 2 of the 3 dresses I purchased.
So, I went in all guns blazing, threatened to complain to the Industry of Commerce in China and that I would only accept a full refund including cost of return postage.
They enhanced the deal to a 50% refund or 60% reward (credit) which was initially 30% and 50%. I firmly declined. I stood my ground and they have now given me a 70% refund on the full order (3 dresses which totalled £120) and I keep the dresses (2 of which I will try to sell on Ebay, the other one i will use). I provided photos of the poor quality and stains and inundated them with emails and tickets with CAPS ON AND LOTS OF !!!!!!!! lol.
My advice, if you want to return, is to blame the quality rather than sizing etc. Make it their responsibility. Provide pics of the poor stitching, stains, anything! I't won't be hard because the quality is very poor. Keep telling them it is their fault and give the impression that you know your rights and you will get your money back.
Good luck!
Dear Management,
As a New Customer, I am extremely dissatisfied with Light in the Box and your Customer Service as my son & I decided to go with this company for his wedding; paying over $170 and only being offered $28 in return for a Faulty Dress with Incorrect Sizing that also prohibits me from lifting my arms above my head.
As stated on your Return Policy under the Returnable Items, IF items are Faulty or Incorrect in size or color, they can be returned. Your policy does not say anything about partial refunds so we were under the impression that because this dress was Faulty & Incorrect in Size, that we would receive a Full Refund instead of the $28 that was offered from a purchase of $170+.
It also states on your Site’s Return Policy that if we are not satisfied with our purchase and the product is still in new condition, it can be returned without mention of reason! We notified you of this issue the very same day we received this product which was May 13th and returned the product by May 20th which also falls under your 7 day deadline. This is False Advertising & Misrepresentation.
Customer Service then asked us to upload photos of this product or send a video and we sent them a video.
If we are not Refunded for the amount of $149.99 for the Faulty Dress with Incorrect Sizing, I will be seeking a next step.
Sincerely,
A Highly Dissatisfied Customer
I just got my order today and my jaw dropped. What I received looked nothing like what I ordered. It was a very cheap made dress, Poor quality expensive products, terrible return policy. The materials were the lowest quality I have ever encountered.
Don't throw your money away. These reviews must all be fake.
Images are different from what you receive.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I ORDERED SEVERAL ITEMS AND MOST OF THE JEWERLY AND SANDALS WAS VERY POOR QUALITY AND THE CLOTHING TO SMALL. I DID EVERYTHING THEY ASKED TO RETURN SOME OF THE ITEMS...WHICH INCLUDED...CONTACTING THEM TO START A TICKET, TAKING PICTURES OF EVERYTHING OUTSIDE OF THEIR PACKAGES AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE PICTURES OF BOTH SIDES OF EVERY ITEM....ALL IN ALL I PROBABLY SPENT ABOUT AN HOUR IN TOTAL TRYING TO RETURN THESE ITEMS AND THIS IS WHAT THEY SAID....Dear customer, Appreciate your efforts in providing the pictures, however we apologize that we are unable to determine the quality issue from the pictures provided. Nonetheless, if you believe that there is a quality issue and have more pictures or a video that can reflect the issue related, we are still able to further assist in providing them to the supplier and negotiate possible solutions. Seek for your patience and understanding.....NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO GO THRU ALL OF THIS FOR A REFUND!!!!! ORDER# 2204262154554121
Website pictures looked great, prices were good. The saying 'when something is too good to be true, it always is' is very right in this case. Although delivery was fairly quick (although once ordered there was a disclaimer saying that due to covid there would be a longer delay for delivery than quoted originally). The fit was awful, the fabric very cheap and nasty, you could almost see through the dress and there was no way I could possibly wear it. As they offered a '7 day no reason returns policy' I decided to return the dress knowing that I would have to pay the postage - as delivery cost was £3.49 then I expected a similar cost to return it. Who was I kidding !! To return it they said I would have to pay the shipping and this would be between $15 and $40 - more than I paid for the dress. After two attempts they finally offered me either 50% off of next purchase or 30% refund if I kept the dress. This way they guarantee that they will not have any returns - why pay £29 for a dress and have to pay up to $40 to return it besides having to wait 20-30 days for the refund after they receive the goods back. SOME WOULD SAY GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE, I WOULD SAY VERY SHARP PRACTICE. If you don't want to be stuck with unwearable clothes that you can't afford to return DON'T ORDER FROM LIGHTINTHEBOX. Very disgruntled, not the way we expect business to be done here in the UK.
Avoid at all costs s! If I could give 0 stars I would!!
Shocking customer service! Ordered a dress that was £30+ and it looked nothing like the photo. The material is so thin and flimsy, yet the photo looks gorgeous-thick and good quality material .
I asked about returns and palmed off with 3 choices. Keep with 30% refund, keep with 50% of value for another purchase (as if!!) Or return and cover shipping costs which could total nearly half of what the dress cost!!
I'm absolutely fuming, I will NEVER wear this dress as it's a bag of cr*p, and I will struggle to sell it on for even £5!! So I'm out of pocket and stuck with an item I do not want!
Will never order from here again.
