I’ve used it 2-3 times already and it brought my migraine attacks down from a 7 or 8 to a 3. I’ve been setting the intensity between 30-38% and any higher, noticed my arm became numb close to the area where the device is. Wasn’t sure if that was normal.
I have found it reduces symptoms and my migraines last less time. It went from 2-3 days to 1-2 with less symptoms to that are less severe. it helps about 80% of the time allowing for me to do things needed of me. The app does have some bugs needing fixing though. Including the fact that sometimes it disconnects from my phone randomly but continues to go, not allowing for any change or to turn in it off.
Most of the time Nerivio will decrease my migraine a notch or 2. It’s enough to help me make it through a work day. The device is easy to use and does sync well with my phone. I like that it’s portable and I can take it with me so it’s available when I need it.
This device has little to no effect on my Migraine headaches. I used the device when I believed to have the "Onset" of a migraine headache and it failed to "abort" the headache.
I have also tried the Cefaly Dual device and it had little effect on the overall migraine cycle. However while I use the Cefaly it seems to provide some temporary relief. I do not get any relief from migraine pain at all when I use the Nerivio device, so it is basically a waste of time.
I also do not like the idea of only having 12 treatments and then I have to replace the device for about $50. For about $50 I can buy 6 electrodes to use with the Cefaly Dual device. The Cefaly device is rechargeable and lasts for years. I would rather keep using the Cefaly Dual device because I think it is more cost effective for me than the Nerivio device.
Update: Apparently after the company received my review they weren't pleased with it. The company emailed me asking if I would consider "revising" it. They suggested that since I had more time with the device since I submitted my original review, I therefore should have a more positive opinion of it.
Here are their exact words: "Thank you for your review.
Would you mind revising it or changing your rating now that you have had time to get to know your Nerivio device a little better?"
I was not pleased with their response to my honest review suggesting that I should "revise" it because I had the product longer. Their response makes me feel like I don't know what I'm talking about. What I know for sure is that the device doesn't work for me. The way the device stimulates the nerves in my arm is ineffective at treating my migraine attacks. What I do not like is the company expecting me to write a better review after having the device longer because the original review makes their product look bad. I first started using the device at the end of March and I believe that I had it long enough to know whether it works for me or not. I so far used the device 8 times and haven't noticed any reduction in migraine pain, even when I use it at or near the "onset" of the attack. The device is not going to suddenly work after 8 failed treatments.
I made the following changes to my survey responses:
"How did you communicate with the company?": I changed my response to email because my doctor sent in my Nerivio prescription to you and you responded by sending me an email. I clicked the link in the email to complete the enrollment process and got an error that the data entered was invalid and that I needed to call. I then called and completed the enrollment process. So I communicated with the company via Email and Telephone.
"How would you rate the customer service you received?": I changed my rating from "Very Good" to "Very Poor" because of the company's response to my negative review of their product.
The Nerivio device may be simple to use, but the Cefaly device is even simpler. The Cefaly device requires no app to use and activates with a push of a button. Apparently Trigeminal neurostimulation works better for my migraines, and whatever nerve that the Nerivio device stimulates doesn't work at all.
I was hesitant to try Nerivio, but I’m finding it more helpful the more I use it. I have a severe acquired brain injury from meningoencephalitis at age 24. (Severe sepsis nearly killed me first.) I am close to two years out in recovery (age 26), and I’ve spent most of the time with an intractable migraine, tension headaches, and spinal headaches from lumbar punctures, among many other problems. I’ve had migraines since childhood, but migraines from the ABI are the worst I’ve ever experienced. Thanks to devices like Nerivio and Cefaly and supplements like Petadolex Butterbur, B2, and magnesium glycinate, I’m able to find some relief. I might not ever live a day free from all pain and limitation, but I’m still thankful to be alive and have access to resources like Nerivio. Special thanks to Steve Kluck from Nerivio who called me to explained everything about the device and made it easy for me to place the first order.
After the first few uses, I have had to restart my phone every time I want to use it, to get it to connect to my phone. Even unpairing and trying to re-pair it doesn't work, it requires a full pound restart. Which isn't the best to hassle with when you are getting a headache. I wish I could use the device by itself, without having to connect to my phone at all.
Absolutely love the device, I’m still playing with times to get it right. Nerivio is a very convenient device as it will allow me to get my treatment and still interact with my family. I wish it was easier to refill though or came with more than 12 treatments on it.
So far I have used one Nerivio device fully and just received my first refill. I definitely notice relief in my migraine while using the device but, so far, haven’t noticed much in the way of long-term relief. However, even just the 45-60 mins of relief I do get from it is worth it for me at this point in my no-medications-work-for-me journey.
My only feedback currently deals with the refill process. I wish that the device itself was rechargeable instead of having to completely replace it. I know that the electrodes would need replacing over time but I also know most others of these types of devices are set up to get refills of electrodes rather than replacing the device completely. I also wish that, instead of receiving a completely new kit, they would just send a new device- the armband and carrying pouch don’t need to be replaced each month. It feels wasteful to have another armband and pouch just sitting around collecting dust. It would also be helpful if they would include a return envelope for recycling your device with your refill device rather than having to email separately to request one. Other than those small potential improvements, I have been getting some relief so I will definitely keep using it and seeing what happens!
Feedback:
-make more migraine symptoms such as dizziness/lightheaded and anxiety/depression
-make a possible life factors category in the daily diary section with multiple choice selections such as caffeine intake, time of day of headache, sleep, eating habits, etc.
My migraine are severe and not much touches the pain. When I decided to try this I was a little leary. My first treatment was so much better than just taking pills. I take way too many everyday for different things. I now have 7 treatments left and I love this device.
Well i have very bad migranes and yesterday and I a small pestering headache and so I decided to use Nerivio. It made my headache feel better while using it, but after it just went back to being my headache. I used a pill with it, the next day did the same thing but had to end up using my Imetrex injection ( I didn’t want to use it because my headache wasn’t that bad) the shot worked.
I like the ability to continue to perform activities and continue with work. I also like that there aren’t side effects with it. I don’t feel like it always works quite as well as medications but I like that I can use it almost anywhere and don’t need to be worried about drowsiness.
It works to take away the pain. Sometimes it is only for a short time. Symptoms such as pressure in the head and exhaustion remain. It takes a few uses to get used to the strange new sensation of using the device. It can be scary at first. The GIER is very helpful. GIER could be a bit more involved with more relaxation techniques.
My original device did not work properly. I contacted the company and they were very helpful. A new device was already sent to me. I have not had a chance to use it yet so I can't comment yet on whether it helps my head. But, I did want to say the company was very responsive with a replacement which is much appreciated.
It's a very strange method of treating a headache. I must say, it helps every time I use it. It hasn't gotten rid of my headache totally, but it makes the symptoms bearable.
I just wish I could use it twice, as a longer application would be more helpful
I think it's a great treatment for headaches/migraines. I know it works better the earlier you use it when you start to have a bad migraine. I really like the fact that it's a not an actual medication with a bunch of negative side effects. Compared to normal migraine medicine.
I didn't fully understand exactly how this was going to work, but I love it. It goes on your upper arm and start it and for 45 minutes it sends electrical pulses to your brain stem and it has meditation videos to help keep you calm while the treatment continues. The only thing it hasn't treated for me is my extreme neck stiffness, otherwise, my migraine almost melts away with the treatment
The device is easy to use. It’s painless, as long as I don’t turn it up too high. For mild migraines, I find it ends the migraine and prevents it from escalating. For moderate migraines, I use it in conjunction with medication and it is a great tool to help end a migraine and prevent escalation. For severe migraines, I haven’t found it effective. I have found I don’t have a tolerance for the physical stimulation when I am in such physical discomfort.
The strap is useless. I have a Quell and you should investigate how they work it, it’s easier to use. I am still trying to figure out if it works or not. It sucks all the energy out of my phone and shuts down all other Bluetooth devices. However I will persist
It has dramatically made a difference in how I treat migraine- less medicine. The only time that it didn’t make the headache disappear was when I didn’t start the treatment early enough in the migraine development or I wasn’t able to relax the entire 45 minutes.
