TL:DR - The verdict: Chin and upper lip, not perfectly hair free but I am okay with retouching every 2-3 weeks depending, as it is much better than waxing imo. As far as the underarms, the hair is definitely less thick and lighter in color (still dark) but it has continued to grow back all along the 12 weeks of treatment, unapologetically so!
Due to scheduling constraints, I was unable to begin treatments as soon as I received my Nood The Flasher 2.0, so I knew I'd possibly miss my return window before finishing the required 8-week treatment. As per the included instruction card in my Nood box, I did the recommended 2 sessions a week for 8 weeks. I did this for both underarms, chin and upper lip. I followed all of the instructions to the tee, the shaving, the exfoliating, the routine, proper placement, the three passes over, etc. and did it all at the highest level (7). I am a light-skinned Latina with dark black hair and of European white, African and Indigenous ancestry; prime candidate for Nood based on their skin tone and hair color guidelines.
I began to notice results by week 3 on my chin and upper lip, but the underarms remained unchanged. By week 8 I was not "completely hair free" as Nood claims but I was content enough with much less hair growth and decided I would do an additional 3 sessions a week for another 4 weeks, in the spotty areas still growing hair. All in all, 12 weeks of treatments, totaling 28 sessions on both underarms, chin and upper lip.
Plan was to start with these areas before moving to more sensitive and labor intensive areas where the requirement of shaving before a treatment becomes problematic (ingrown hairs, rashes, etc) in between sessions if the Nood doesn't succeed in performing as expected and advertised. Nood The Flasher 2.0 did not perform as claimed, for me, therefore I will not be using it in the bikini area or legs, unfortunately and especially after having read of the struggle others are experiencing with their Nood in these areas.
I wrote to Nood about my experience prior to writing this review and their response was basically repeating the instructions I had already stated following and pretty nonchalant.
I saw an advertisement for Nood on Instagram and decided to give it a try! I did the full 16 treatments and am happy with the results I have so far. Here is what you need to know:
- I started with really thick, course leg hair. I would guess that about 50% of the hair is gone after the 16 treatments. Not all the way gone, but I am happy with the results so far! I plan to do more treatments after summer is over and when my legs don't see the sun nearly as much. With 50% less hair, I can go longer between shaves without be self conscious and shaving is easier.
- The places on my legs where I didn't see it as effective are the not-as-flat parts (like the knee), which makes a lot of sense because it's harder to get the device flush to the skin.
- I've seen a lot of improvement on my higher leg with dark hair coming down from the bikini line - I don't notice this at all anymore which is HUGE for me!
See my attached picture. It was hard to capture, but I let my leg hair grow out longer to try and show the less hair. There is definitely still hair there, but WAY more sparse compared to before. Although it is a time commitment and I do think it will take more than 16 treatments to get to the 80% hair loss as advertised, I'm still extremely happy with my results based on where I started. I would have done just about anything to see less hair!
New to nood! My first model arrived nonfunctional but nood support got back to me quickly to sort out the issue. They provided a prepaid label and started to process my replacement as soon as my return was scanned into the shipping system.
My first use, I burned myself a few times trying to find a good heat setting for different areas of my body. For example, what worked for my legs didn't work for my bikini area. After finding my ideal settings, the process was smooth but took a lot longer than expected. I find myself wishing that the auto setting was a bit faster.
Something to note is that you'll see a different pace of results for different areas of your body. I don't really think this is entirely based on the heat setting. I also noted that my skin gets a bit more dry after using the tool.
All in all, I'm excited to continue to see slowed hair growth the more I use nood 2.0.
I don’t doubt that it works. It definitely will take A LOT of sessions and each session can take up to 30min+ depending on how many areas you want to treat. I have medium-light skin and dark brown hair. This still hurts to use on settings 6 or 7 (the recommended setting to see results). I tried OTC numbing gel and it was still uncomfortable. I have had laser hair removal at a dermatology office and it was a much faster process. It was also painful, but they gave me a prescription numbing gel and the session was like 5 minutes. It was much more expensive, of course. The reason I didn’t continue with Nood is because of the pain. I’d rather do 5 minutes of moderate pain than 30+ minutes of mild to moderate pain (knowing I’d have to do many more sessions). If that info doesn’t matter to you, this could be a great product.
I have done laser hair removal and was curious about this product. Thought I would rather save a few bucks and try this product. I have been using this product on my chin and have not seen as much of an improvement as I have with my legs. But facial hair is not as easy to get rid of. I have use Nood on my legs only a few times and went from having to shave every day to literally 1xweek. Since I have had experience in other areas with laser hair removal, I felt I would give level 7 a go and feel this helped with the quick results. I posted a picture of my legs after 4 days of not shaving. Normally, the hairs would have grown out to the point of cover them up with pants or need to shave already but here you don’t really see any growth. You can see the root, but this is a close up. I am not disappointed in this product.
I saw results very quickly!! Prior to Nood, during the summer I would shave every day or sometimes every other day. After just 2-3 weeks of using Nood, I was able to increase time between shaves to every 3rd day. After my 2nd treatment of wk 7, my time between shaves had increased to only 2x per wk, and I could tell that hair was getting sparser. After treatment 1 of wk 8, I waited a whole week to shave, and, when I did shave, it still just felt like day 2 of my old normal. I really only shaved so I could do another treatment! I intend to maintain at 1 treatment per week for a few more weeks before going into maintenance mode.
Pictures are: 1 week post-shave (be Nood) and 1 week post-shave (after 8 wks of Nood)
So far Nood has been working fairly well. I’ve been using the device 2-3x per week for 4 weeks and I’ve noticed a reduction in hair growth and a slowing of hair growth. I’m hoping hair will be mostly eliminated by the 8 week mark but we’ll see. The device works well but could be of better quality. Sometimes buttons stick & it just *feels* more like a demo product than a final product (I’m sure the product will evolve as the business does). The light is extremely bright, even when used correctly so you will want eye protection. I wear sunnies and don’t look directly at the device in use. It is quite time consuming since you need to make three passes over each spot on each session but it seems to be doing the job. I have light skin and dark hair so I’m an ideal candidate for this product. I did notice some sensitivity using in the bikini area after a few weeks but otherwise it’s not painful unless you go over a dark freckle accidentally. No issues with my light\medium freckles. Photo taken 1 day after shaving. Prior to using IPL I would have had even more hair growth.
Useless. I have the ideal skin and hair type (pale skin, very dark hair) and so I was really hoping it would work on my facial hair as I have PMS and it's embarrassing. The FAQ states Nood should work with those who have PMS, and though I used the highest settings, every other day (or at least every three days), for FOUR months, it did absolutely nothing.
Nood recommends giving at least two months for results, so I thought four would do the trick, but no. I don't think their return policy is reasonable - if you have to wait at LEAST two months for results, then you really only have one month to return, and at that point, you're JUST (supposedly) beginning to see results, and you don't know yet if they'll be enough to justify the cost of the product. I think there should be at least a 120 day refund policy.
Also, even on lower settings, at times the product would literally shock me, far beyond the slight tingle I was feeling before. I had to try different things, like not clenching my jaw when doing the jawline, and make sure I wasn't touching metal or carpeting.
Very disappointed in the lack of results but more so in Noods unwillingness to refund me for a product that doesn't work, despite me having the prime skin tone/hair color combination, and using the product correctly.
I am really happy with this device so far. I've been using for 5 weeks and I can tell there is less hair growing back on my legs and underarms, and what is growing back in my armpits is much thinner hair already too. I can tell that if I keep it up, I will achieve the results I am looking for. So far I have been focusing on lower legs/knees, underarms and some pesky chin hairs. My treatment days make me feel like I'm doing self-care. I shower and exfoliate the heck out of my legs, put on a podcast, switch on the auto-feature and I can just really get in the zone. It does take a decent amount of time to go over your legs 3x but this is working at a FRACTION of the cost of going to a salon and I am happy that I took the time to move towards less shaving in the future!
I have been using my Nood Flasher for about 4 weeks now. I waiting anxiously for it to arrive! They took about 10 days to get it to me and I was upset at first. I then checked my junk email and saw that they had reached out to me with a heads up on shipping times, an apology and a coupon code! Top notch! When it arrived, it was packaged so nice. I should have taken pictures but I was too excited. I read the directions and got started right after I shaved my legs! The whole reason I wanted this so badly was because I hated how the hairs looked under my skin even after I had just shaved my legs. It was the dotted, strawberry seed look. It might sound silly to some people but I really hated it. I have had full rounds of laser hair removal on my underarms and brazilian. I just didn’t want to spend the time and money on doing my legs. (And honestly my underarms and Brazilian didn’t have long-lasting results. I’m already having regrowth after all that $$$ spent at laser hair removal!) so, after 4 weeks of use of my Nood I am noticing much softer legs! The hair growth is slow! And it is just this week I’m noticing the little stubble of hair follicles are falling out and there is nothing left behind! Meaning: no dotted, strawberry-seed-looking skin! I used the Flasher on my upper lip and I noticed the little leftover bits of hair falling out as well! It was awesome! I saw some reviews where the reviewers were saying it didn’t work for them. So this is the important stuff- skin must be free of hair- meaning fleshly shaven. You need to do it on level 6 (after you have tested the area of skin with that intensity. I only use 5 on my upper lip and it still worked). You need to be consistent. Twice a week and going over each area 3 times. I was so excited about getting this I probably did it more often than I needed to. But it works! I would highly recommend!
I have been using Nood for over a month now and while some places are going better than others, I am really noticing a difference in hair growth. I decided to try Nood after years of shaving and waxing have left my skin so irritated and riddled with ingrown hairs. I’m also a skin picker so my legs are scarred from digging at the ingrown hairs. After consistent use I have almost no leg hair growing back at all and no ingrown hairs! My legs are finally healing and I have Nood to thank for that.
The progress has been slower on my armpits and somewhere in the middle for my bikini line. I did notice a slight increase in regrowth when I tried to reduce sessions so I’m about 5 weeks in and still doing 3x per week. Once you get the technique down it’s easy to use it just takes some time! My photos are current and this is 2 days after shaving and using Nood!
A couple of tips:
Don’t be afraid to use it lengthwise for hard to reach areas
Even though they say it’s optional- please wear sunglasses or other eye protection. I’m pretty sure I’ve done some damage to my eyes from accidental flashes.
Make sure to pass each area at least 3x, I’ve been doing 4x lately just to be sure I got the area fully.
I am pleasantly surprised by how effective this device is!
Pros:
- Incredibly affordable, especially in comparison to other laser hair removal treatments
- Easy to use
- Painless
- Actually works
- Convenient to do it yourself, at home, without having to make an appointment
Cons:
- It takes a while to see results- but it does work! Nood is very clear on their site that you need to be consistent and wait at least 8 weeks. It took me closer to 12 weeks to really see a noticeable difference and I think it's more effective to use it after every shower rather than only once a week, which is what the direction card says in the box
- The actual portion of the device that has the IPL is very small so it takes a long time to go over larger areas, especially since you need to go over each area three times
- It's hard to figure out what area you've already covered and what are you're missing because the device is small
Overall, I am super happy with this purchase. I wish it worked for total 100% hair removal, but maybe I will get there with continued use!
While at first I was a little skeptical, I am shocked at how effective this little device is. It actually delivers on everything it promises (which is not the case for 95% of beauty/personal care products). I have done laser hair removal in the the past and found it incredibly painful because I have very sensitive skin. However, I have been using the flasher on level 6 for almost two months and haven’t experienced any pain or issues. Handling the device takes a moment to get used to, but after you use it once you get the hang of it and using the auto flash mode makes it so easy to do quickly. I saw reduced hair after about two weeks and my hair took significantly longer to grow back after only a month. In just a little over two months, the hair is almost gone. Although I am an ideal candidate because I have fair skin and dark hair, the hair on my arms was much lighter and the flasher had no problems with it.
It seems like there are SO MANY IPL devices out there this days, and as a newcomer to this type of hair removal I wasn’t sure which one to choose. I’m happy that picked Nood because it offered some unique features at a competitive price point. I love that Nood is FDA cleared, can be used anywhere that’s not close to your eyes, offers a wide treatment window, can be replaced after 600,000 flashes, and has both 6 different intensity levels and automatic mode. Wow, I didn’t know how much I’d appreciate auto mode, but my thumb really does get tired of pushing the button when I’m zapping my legs. In terms of progress, I’m 7 treatments in, and am seeing slowing hair growth. I’m excited to keep using this device to see how much unwanted hair I can zap away!
I hate to sound dramatic but this machine actually changed my life. I’m Italian and pretty pale in the winter. Before nood I was shaving every single day and my hair grew back rapidly. Enter Nood. Eight weeks with this little machine and my legs are so smooth. The hair still grows back but way slower and thinner than before. Now I shave about every four days or so which has seriously been life changing. Now that it’s getting warm and I’m out in the sun I decided to take a pause on my treatments but will resume again in the fall. It’s so shocking to me that this actually worked and worked SO WELL. My only regret is that I didn’t buy it sooner. If you’re on the fence, buy it. But remember that to see results you need to be consistent. You will not be disappointed!
I began investigating laser hair removal after friends raved how amazing it is, but with the high cost of treatments (even using Groupon) and long travel time (not living near facilities that perform this process), it didn't make sense for me. Enter Nood. I use Nood on my lower legs, underarms, and bikini line. I've noticed the biggest change on my lower legs, which are nearly hairless and are the area I laser least frequently. For my underarms and bikini line, I've noticed the hair grows slower and there is less of it. I am on week 7 of treatments, and think I'll need more than 8 weeks to remove those hairs, but the process is so easy I can't even complain. I realize this is supposed to be a short review but I can't emphasize enough that Nood is NOT a gimmick, it actually works and it will save you so many hundreds of dollars and hours of time being able to perform the laser hair removal by yourself, on your own time, in the comfort of your home. I would (and have been) recommending this to anyone who will listen.
Been using my Nood device for about 3 weeks now some what consistently. I first did a test spot then felt safe enough to use it on my face and under arms. I figured I’d start in small areas first to see how it worked since it is a little time consuming compared to wax strips. Everything has been going well so far I’ve definitely noticed a decrease in the amount of hair on my face and how quickly it grows. I’m half Indian so I’m pretty hairy and my hair is dark and thick. I was actually pretty surprised this worked as well as it did. My only issue so far is I attempted my legs last night at the same intensity I’ve been using (7) and after I was done I felt a slight burning which I hadn’t felt before. The next morning I had what looks like burns in the places I used nood. I’m not sure why this happened since I’ve been using it a lot on my face and underarms. I’m a little scared to continue using it now and a little disappointed because it was working so well with no problems I did email Nood support and am waiting for a response back to see if they have an answer as to why this may have happened.
I’ve been using Nood for about a month now. I purchased after having great success with laser hair removal on my lower legs and having completed partial laser hair removal in upper legs and under arm.
It is too soon to say “success” however after using 2-3 time weekly on various areas I have noticed the following: maintaining my lower leg and underarm (both previously treated) is exceptional- the few spots I noticed growth in are now completely gone. I bought Nood specifically to try on bikini area (not previously treated) and have absolutely noticed a decrease in hair.
I use on highest level and, while it does take time and commitment, I actually find the process relaxing. It is by no means as quick or intense of results as I found With laser hair removal, but I can do this in my own home for a fraction of the cost, with results showing already.
I can’t say enough how the Flasher 2.0 has positively changed my life. I could have shaved twice a day before I started using the this device After only 5 uses I can go three days without shaving and still feel confident in shorts. There really was minimal pain, even on level seven! I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely pain-free, but I found it only hurt a little when I hit a freckle or a very course hair. The tops of my thighs were also little tender, which surprised me. I expected my knees and ankles to be a tender spot, but they weren’t at all. It does take a long time since you have to do three passes on each spot. Shave prior to each session and know you will smell burning hair.
After having it for only two weeks part of the button broke off when I set it down on the table. When I contacted Nood, I was told it’s only aesthetic and there wasn’t anything they could do as long as it was working. I feel it shouldn’t have broken at all in such a short amount of time.
I’d still buy it again and I’ve recommended it to friends and family.
I was skeptical at first, but as a hairy lady who hates to shave, I had to try it. I'm glad I did! My only regret is that I did not purchase the larger nood and only got the smaller one cause I wasn't sure if it was worth the cost. It IS worth it! It takes about an hour to do one leg, and I do it while watching TV at night. Since I'm zoned into the TV you can see spots where I usually miss. I'm glad I accidentally missed these spots because it shows just how effective this machine is. The spots I get to, are almost hairless; the spots I missed show my typical hair growth. HUGE difference! I've been using this for about 5 weeks. I think in a few more weeks I will only have to do maintenance and will barely have to shave ever again. LOVE IT!!!!!
