Bad customer service - do not buy from Oak Furniture Lane
Letter sent to Oak furniture land - 19th January

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to you today to complain about the service that I have encountered during this disastrous experience.

I recently visited the shop in Norwich and I was appalled when the shop assistants were reluctant to serve me as I was only buying one item to the value of £119.00. In September, I had bought items to the value of £1817. 97, and was served by Darren - Darren was very helpful on that occasion, but unfortunately he was busy with another customer. I was informed that Darren would get the commission for the single item, and i'm guessing that was why I was being avoided by the other staff.
When the sales assistant took my order, he ordered the wrong item, instead of a lamp table of £119.00 he ordered the bedside table to the value of £129.00. I didn't notice the error until the item was delivered on the following Friday.
The drivers contacted me (Jane) as agreed and I arranged for my husband to go home and take delivery. - quick turnaround, as he had to get back to work
I arrived home, unpacked the item to find that the wrong item had been ordered/delivered. This explained why I was charged £10.00 more than what I had expected.
I phoned customer services, informed you of the error and an amendment was made and an arrangement to collect the item on 18. 01. 19, and deliver the correct item at the same time. I was informed that my account would be credited within 3 days, 8 days later, I haven't had it! Confirmed that the driver would ring me on the 18. 01. 19 as both me and my husband work full time.
Day of the delivery. I took the afternoon off and waited at home from 2pm (as my designated slot time suggested) No phone call.
My husband arrived home at 1710 and was surprised to see no delivery/pick up of the wrong item. He checked his phone and had 2 missed call at 1445 - one from a mobile and the other from your number.
I contacted customer services and was told that the drivers tried to contact my husband and that was the number you had on your system.

The problem I have here is that on the first delivery date, you phoned me as requested - great. The 2nd time you attempted delivery you phoned the wrong number!. I sat at home all afternoon waiting. And when I contacted you, you said that the driver had phoned the number that was on the system. My number was on the system, as the drivers had called me the week before! My number is *********37.

2 calls to my husband, one from the driver and one from your number - so the driver didn't call me and neither did customer services. Why?

I was then told by customer services, if I wasn't at home when you tried to deliver next time, I would be charged! This I am absolutely furious about. I was at home on 18. 01. 19, and your incompetent drivers and your customer service department didn't ring me as requested.

This item has cost me a lot of money - initial outlay and the cost of my time. I was thinking about purchasing all my bedroom furniture from you, but this experience has really left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I would like some compensation from you as this has clearly distressed me and my husband. I would also like a refund of the money you owe me please.

25th January 2019
Dear Sir/Madam,

I did receive a reply to ask me to contact customer service once I had received my order on 25. 01. 19.

I contacted customer service as requested and Oak furnitureland UK said as a good will gesture they would give me a gift voucher of £30.00. I have now escalated my complaint to you as I understand that customer services did not forward it on to you.

I am unhappy with the good will gesture, as my email states, I did not have a great experience in fact this is the 2nd bad experience I have had with your company - the first time in April 2015 when I had issues with delivery and was charged £35.00 for the privilege. Please do check your records, my name then was ******* and my address postcode was *******. As I have already said this recent experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth, so I am unlikely to visit Oak Furniture in a hurry to spend my £30.00!

To take delivery today, I have had to take this afternoon off, again another half a day holiday - that is 1 day's annual leave out of my precious 20 days. When I spoke to Customer Services last week, I asked for delivery after 1545 as I couldn't take time off, but on Wednesday I received an email to say you would deliver between 12 - 3. Really disappointed that I was ignored again. Today, I received a call at 10.18 from the delivery drivers as they were running early and wanted to deliver. Unfortunately I couldn't get away from work as I was in a meeting. I arrived home at 12 noon and they were waiting for me.

When I phoned customer service, I was put on hold for quite some time before the assistant offered a good will gesture. It was very difficult to concentrate on our conversation, as there seemed to be many people in her office taking calls that were a distraction as they were so loud.

I have calculated how much this has cost me and would be happy to receive a good will gesture of £**** (I have not included tax or national insurance contributions) this is my daily wage and therefore I feel it only fair, that Oak Furniture land refunds me in time that I have wasted. (if the correct item was delivered on the 11th, I wouldn't of had to take 2 half days off of work)

I look forward to receiving a payment directly to my account in which I paid for my lamp table.

3rd February
Hi, it has been over 7 days and I have not had any type of response from you. This is not good service, I should of had an acknowledgement of my complaint at least.

I look forward to hearing from you in a timely manner.

Otherwise I will be putting my complaint on a review website.

Today is 9th February and I still haven't had a response.

- ABYSMAL - DO NOT SHOP HERE!
Spent over £2K in the Bristol Cribbs Causeway Shop, prior to our move to Devon - where, I was assured, the Furniture would be delivered at our convenience!

Hardly delivered at anyone's convenience - except that of Oak Furniture Land's!

An absolute catalogue of exceptionally poor customer service was further compounded by the fact that the two items we received on the delivery last week were totally unacceptable and had to be returned! The sideboard which we ordered was damaged by a huge crack in the wood along the top - and a television cabinet also delivered at that time, was just unbelievably manufactured with ill-fitting shelves! Had that unit been manufactured in this Country, no self-respecting Quality Controller would have allowed that furniture to leave a Factory! The Furniture it does appear, is constructed very cheaply in what are 'Third World' Countries, and sold at huge profit after export!

I spent more than an hour on the telephone to 'Customer Service' (is that what Oak furnitureland UK call it?) trying to re-arrange a delivery, and was on 'hold' for seventy minutes this morning endeavouring to seek reassurance that our furniture WOULD be delivered next week! Unfortunately after hearing their music for over an hour, I decided that my mental health was suffering! It appears that the only way to obtain any satisfaction in any way with this Company is to make a strong protest within a Shop - and make sure that everyone shopping there is aware of your complaint!

I will definitely NOT make any further purchase from this Company! Dire, abysmal service from start to finish!

Shocking phone wait times PLUS £60 to return a £300 order! (online order)
This morning we had a double bed and a bedside table delivered. We ordered these in the online sale and despite me going into store to find these Oak furnitureland UK didn't have them to view. I took the chance and ordered them. Lo and behold the items looked nothing like they did online. They were cheap and tacky and just ugly.

I phoned the customer services number and was kept waiting for 40 minutes before I finally got to speak to someone. They advised me that I would be charged £82 for someone to collect them. I was horrified and so the lady put me on hold only to come back and inform me she'd made a 'mistake' and it would be £60. I was still disgusted, and, to be fair to her she seemed embarrassed and apologetic about the greedy company's returns policy. I asked to speak to a supervisor to air my disgust. He was completely unapologetic and extremely patronising. He explained that the company were so nice to offer free delivery in the first place and that it costs money to collect the items from the depot... Yeah I'm not a complete moron, I know how these things work. I explained to him that, yes, of course I would expect to pay something to have them come back and collect them but £60 is unacceptable. It's a day's pay or a day at nursery for my little girl. It would even cost me £60 if I decided to buy a more expensive item!

He refused to budge and so now I've got a pay £60 for someone to come and remove this tacky, disgusting furniture from my house. Wonderful. Needless to say I will never ever ever buy anything from this company.

Do not buy from this company very disapointed
I bought 2 no 2 seater sofas in march 2017. On delivery the back on one of them was snapped. So Oak furnitureland UK took it away to be replaced. Said it would take 8 weeks. I told they I wasn't happy. I received a call saying they could deliver within 2 week. On delivery it was obvious that the sofa wasn't new but of a show room floor. It had several damages and dirt marks over it. Repair team came about 3 weeks later cleaned the sofa repaired a hole and ordered a new cushion and leg. This was just the start. Since then i have had the sofas replaced 5 times due to damages to them all on delivery. 4 visits by the repair team. The last delivery was on the 26 of November 2018. And yes the back was snapped on one of them. That they wanted to leave and send a repair team out within 1 week to 4 weeks I told them that this was not acceptable and to take it away. They then redelivered again on the 30 November 2018. And it was the same sofas and still the back was broken. I called them and asked them to get back to me on what they were going to do. I have not had any response from them from the 30 of November 2018. I have emailed them 5 times asking what they intend do and so far have had no reply from them. And it is know 03 January 2019 ps they advertise that there furniture and sofas are solid hardwood. They are not. THe sofas are pine and ply wood. Falls advertising as well. Do yourself a favour and don't buy from oak furniture land

Poor quality furniture turns up after 6 weeks damaged
Ordered a large TV unit through their website, item was in stock and had a delivery date booked for a few days later. Day before the delivery Oak furnitureland UK phoned and said they now cannot get to me until over 6 weeks later but said they would refund delivery charge. Six weeks later with no refund of delivery charge the TV unit is delivered. I was at work and item was left in garage. When home I unpacked and found multiple areas of damage and poor build quality with large gaps in some joins. The unit was very well packed with lots of polystyrene and thick cardboard so staff in the warehouse must have really chucked it about, even the tin of polish I ordered was dented! Cannot get through to customer services waiting on the phone three times for over 30 mins, ring the sales number and get straight through! Spoke to someone on their Twitter feed eventually and was offered £90 refund to keep it which I refused to be told they are not taking returns at the moment and will contact me when they are. Not happy at all. Their selling point is solid oak furniture but solid it ain't very flimsy and poor build quality. I would advise people to avoid this place buy a well engineered veneer product or spend the extra 100 quid or so and buy quality.

Shambolic
After having an enjoyable time selecting an electric reclining chair, with an added bonus of it being significantly reduced when we came to pay for it... we walked away from the store happily looking forward to the delivery. We were really impressed at how quickly it was being delivered & on the day the delivery guys were pleasant... Why only a one star review you may ask. It had to be removed from the box to fit through the lounge doorway & as soon as I saw it I said "it's the wrong colour"
Fast forward an hour, we took a detachable cushion to the showroom to check the colour swatch... it only comes in 3 colours & ours wasn't even there. Eventually a salesman identified it as the 'old' version of the colour as Oak furnitureland UK had previously had one on display. He then sent an email to customer services (ha) on our behalf. Speaking to a team member is when the problems started. As other reviews state, we forwarded photos etc even wanting us to assemble the chair, which I refused to do. After another extremely unhelpful conversation the next day, my partner once again went to the showroom. I had the brainwave of taking a photo of the material swatch next to the cushion, that would be all the proof they needed... surely.
Wrong. Another phonecall from them informed me that there had never been an 'old' & 'new' colour & it was just a variation in shade. I felt like screaming down the phone.
Another trip to the showroom to see if they could throw any weight behind our complaint, which apparently they can't as its a seperate entity, or something like that. My partner spoke once again to C/S who informed us that even if they did replace the chair, it would come in the same colour plus we would be charged for the pleasure. Eventually, it was agreed that we could have a refund & it will be collected without a charge. I only wanted the chair we had seen in the colour we saw, but am opting for the refund they begrudgingly offered.
Our downstairs space has been upside down with packaging, the chair plus our furniture that a charity were going to take away.
If you look online, it shows the Grayson range in Charcoal just as we expected... Not Silver Grey as delivered. Needless to say, I wouldn't ever recommend shopping here. The worst C/S I have ever had the displeasure of encountering.

Shambolic customer services & complaints team
*DO NOT GET SUITE DELIVERY FROM OAK FURNITURE LAND*

Delivery date for a new £1400 suite set as 30th November (booked 3 weeks previous) and the driver turns up saying Oak furnitureland UK dont have the suite on the wagon. He hands over a phone and asks to speak with Parveen from customer services. She says the next delivery date is 13th December! Shocking seeing as the suite is ready to go from the warehouse. I contest but she says all she can do is email the Allocation Team. I chased it up 4 times across 6 hours, and herself and Charlie both explained that all they can do is email. After asking for manegers and complaints team, apparently no one was available! Again, laughable.

Apparently you can only email the Complaints team and not phone them?! And they take 3 days to reply! So for the next few days i'll be spamming there phones and emails as there is no other way of getting to them, because they clearly are not bothered about late delivery or no shows. I'll be expecting some compensation for me having time off work to wait for the delivery and also having to postpone other work on the house.

For a so called 'now global' company, they're customer services and complaints team are shockingly bad.

Disgusting Service, Don't Go There
Absolutely disgusted by this shop. My mum brought a two seater recliner sofa and 2 recliner chairs from here a few weeks ago and since doing it she had loads of problems.

First she went there and Monica did a contract for her, only for her to call my mum back a couple of days later to tell her she needs to come back into the store as the contract didn't save on the computer. Bareing in mind it's a 17 mile trip there from where my mother lives so the shop isn't close.
So she turns up to sort out the contract again but for some reason Monica has split the contract so it is now 2 contracts instead of one (to me that's a bit odd to do). According to Monica it's because the sofa and chairs have to come on two separate deliveries that is why there are now 2 contracts

Next thing with 2 contracts come with 2 delivery charges of £50 each = £100 altogether. But Monica promises us:

"that not only are Oak furnitureland UK delivering the furniture but they will be setting it all up for us and removing the rubbish all we have to do is remove are old furniture."

OK cool, that sounds reasonable, WRONG on the delivery guys sheet, they are not allowed to set the furniture up just deliver it so why is Monica lieing to us? Apparently she didn't is what she told us when confronted which is another lie - showing good customer service here... NOT. If I knew we would have to set it up, I would have gone to IKEA!

Next... Monica gave us some samples of the three colours. The colour picked was black and gold the sofa that arrived was light grey and white. Their website shows charcoal not light grey and white. So the Stevenage store needs new colour samples for their furniture because again she's been promised something that isn't correct.

So off my mum, me (her daughter) and my partner go for a 3rd trip to the shop, to speak to Monica. Well she lies to our faces about it being set up, and tells us they can't do anything in store we ourselves have to call customer services. The older gentleman there passes on a message to the manager she said she'll pass it to customer serves, 2 days have past no phone call so now we are going public, to make sure Oak furniture land Stevenage doesn't con another person.
Also one other thing customer services your not open late so how do we contact you as we work so when we get home your close. Not good at all.

Awful Sales Technique
I am a disabled mum and I went into my new local Southend store to purchase a sofa, I spotted a very nice one and immediately I had a salesman try and press me into taking out finance to purchase it. I was adamant that I did not want to have myself tied to finance and I started to get aware that he was very forceful in his approach. I left the store.
A couple of weeks later, I returned - the same salesperson was there and recognised me. I said I was there to purchase the sofa, but was not going to take out any finance. (Now, I, on both occasions was sitting on a mobility scooter and had to walk with a pair of crutches, we talked about my lack of mobility and the fact that I have a spinal cord injury - this will be of importance later on in my complaint). So, after a couple of minutes, talking and asking questions about the sofa, (and the fact that the man worked at Harvey's previously, as we had commented on their delivery tactics and that OFL does free delivery), I assumed everything else was the same.
It wasn't until I had parted with my money and that I noticed the man filling out the forms ticking the boxes for me, without letting me read them, I got a bit suspicious and started asking him what he was doing. His reply was 'Oh, that's the colour you chose, that's the electric seats, that's the style of sofa', etc, etc Then he asked me to sign the documents, which I did, Then he printed them off and I noticed he neglected to tell me that he'd ticked the boxes to say I had agreed to pay extra to a failed delivery, to unpack and put together all my own sofa at my own cost! I mean I ask you?! Do I look able to do that myself?! He knew full well that I couldn't and he took advantage of me! I was furious! The delivery date was not suitable and so I text back 'No', so was expecting an alternative delivery date, nope, I was given the same date. So I decided to get a refund, because, by this time, I had decided that I had had enough. The customer service persons were not able to guarantee me someone to help put the furniture together. Oak furnitureland UK pointed out that they did a 'white glove service' for people in wheelchairs or who were disabled, I said that I was disabled and no such service was offered to me. That's it, I said, I want a refund, she said she didn't blame me. She had to transfer my call onto a different team. Then when I rang to ask for a refund, the person at the end of the phone slammed the phone down on me! Yep, don't shop with this company - very unprofessional. I still haven't received the e-mail confirmation as promised to say that I am getting my 1199. 99GBP back - I'd better, or there will be some serious repercussions.

OAK FURNITURE LAND - UPDATE
Further to my review dated 20th November 2018 some further advice for those of you (many many of you by the number of entries onto this Site!) who are dissatisfied with the Products and Service provided by Oak Furniture Land!

On Christmas Evening I was sat watching television and looking at the utter 'shambles' of a television cabinet I had recently purchased from the Company! The gaps in the shelving of 12mm and more - and told by OFL that it was to allow for expansion! Unbelievable!

I realised then that I should NOT have to accept the shoddy workmanship on this cabinet or that on the Dining Room Sideboard which we had also purchased! My Wife and I have worked hard for the money to pay for this furniture (as everyone else undoubtedly has) and on Christmas Evening I sat down and wrote an E-mail to OFL - *******@oakfurnitureland.mypurecloud.ie- further complaining about the poor workmanship in both items... and indeed some days later received a reply.

I actually persisted - e-mail after e-mail, saying how disgusted and disappointed I was that this Company could take my hard-earned money to provide second-rate furniture that I had to sit and stare at and every time I did so become more and more annoyed and frustrated by the fact that OFL would not listen to my complaint or take any action with regards to it!

I was eventually asked what I actually wanted from OFL - and advised that what I actually wanted was for these two items of furniture to be collected ASAP and as soon as Oak furnitureland UK were, a full refund given to me as a Bank Transfer!

It happened! The goods were collected - and the following day I received a full refund transferred to my Bank Account! My Wife and I have since purchased two very nice pieces of furniture from a reputable store close by, where Customer Service was excellent - and nothing was too much trouble! This Company too had heard many many reports of the continuing problems with OFL and were obviously enjoying the 'fruits' of other Customer's dissatisfaction!

DO NOT take 'NO' for an answer from OFL! Bombard their Customer Services Department with e-mail - and eventually, like me, you will hopefully get some satisfaction.

One can only hope that with the Company's continued expansion - their unbelievable Sales Techniques, the shoddy furniture they're selling at grossly inflated prices and some very poor Customer Service that the 'bubble will burst' and they're not going to be around for a lot longer... but get your money returned first!

Horrendous delivery
Horrendous! I ordered a corner sofa and an armchair from oak furniture land. The corner sofa came in 5 segments but one segment was in the wrong colour. I rang customer service which involved a 2 hour phonecall, where I had tosend pictures of each segment via email so Oak furnitureland UK could see which piece was incorrect, I was told that I'd have to pay another £40 for delivery or it would be 6 weeks until I'd have the incorrect segment swapped, I asked for a supervisor at this point who waved the fee and assured me the correct piece would be delivered the following week. I took another day off work for it to be delivered, but the same segment came in yet again the wrong colour. Back to customer service and another 2 hour phonecall, the on hold time is crazy! And eventually on the third attempt I had a complete sofa. But the armchair had to come yet. So today I took my 4th day off work for the armchair to be delivered but, and there's no prize for guessing, it also came in the wrong colour and was taken back. So I had to again phone customer services which involved two one hour phone calls this time. And I eventually just asked for a refund on the armchair stating that I'd rather give that money to another company. The customer service was terrible the people were mannerly but they seemed make mistake after mistake, ordering the wrong piece after confirming what I needed repeatedly. The corner sofa I have is fantastic but the hassle I went through to get it was unbelievable.

Once they have your money they do not care
I spent £1500 on a sofa with footstool included, clock, 2 x lamps, 1x mirror. The delivery date was 05th February 2019 between 12:30 and 15:30.

On the morning of the due delivery I received a call from stating the footstool would not be delivered with the rest of the goods due to an error. This was disappointing but I agreed that this could be delivered on Friday (8th). I made the person on the phone acutely aware that this would have to be after 3.30pm due to work commitments. I had taken unpaid leave on the 5th hence why I paid for express delivery, which, I was assured would be refunded.

When my goods arrived I noticed there was no mirror. I asked the delivery men about this and was told that it was not on my order and I would have to get in touch with the store.

On unwrapping the couch I found I had been sent two of the same pieces.

I called as soon as I realised the error. I was told I would receive a phone call.

I did receive the phone call and was informed that it was not possible to get my goods to me until Friday.

I agreed on condition that my goods would be sent after 3:30pm, again explaining I would not be in before then as I was unable to take any further time off work. She assured me this would be dealt with accordingly.

I then called Oak Furniture Land in Speke, the store where I initially made my purchases and discovered that the mirror hadn't even been added to my order. I was told I would have to go in store to rectify the problem and therefore had to take the time to drive to the store in Speke to get this resolved.

(7th Feb) I received an email stating my order would be delivered between 9am and 12pm. This was unacceptable considering I have made 4 members of staff fully aware that I would not be home.

I called the office the same day to try to rectify the promlem and was informed that the notes stated I would not be home until after 3.30pm.

I was told I would get a call back at 12pm. This did not happen.

I had to call the company back myself. I was told someone did try to ring but I got the security questions wrong. This obviously was not me and the wrong number was called!

I was then informed by a member of staff the issue had now been resolved and my goods would be delivered at 3:30pm and that she had confirmation in front of her from the delivery company. Although I requested a copy be sent to me I was informed this was not possible.

I got a call at 9:40 this morning (Feb 8th) informing me that my delivery would be in 30 minuets.

This is a farce considering 4 members of staff confirmed to me this would not be delivered until after 3:30pm. As I was unable to leave work I had to arrange for my mother in-law to drive to my address to receive the delivery at great inconvenience to her as she is currently caring for her sick husband.

I then received a call from the delivery man. He informed me that the wrong piece had been sent yet again. Also my mirror was not in with the order.

I phoned the office and spoke to a manager called Lucy who insisted the correct piece had been delivered and she got in touch with the delivery man. It was confirmed that it was NOT the correct piece which now leaves me with half a sofa.

I have been informed that Oak furnitureland UK could not get the right piece to me until the following Wednesday (yesterday) meaning further unpaid leave had to be taken.

Wednesday morning arrived. The correct side of the sofa came however the cusions delivered with it do not fit. Also the mirror was still not included on the order. I have now been told this could take up to 2 weeks to be resolved.

If I could give this company zero stars I would however this is not an option.

CHARGED £250 RETURN FEE FOR WARDROBES TOO HEAVY TO BE DELIVERED
Ordered a 2 and 3 door wardrobe online after viewing the furniture instore. Advised instore that each wardrobe came in sections and could be assembled easily. Owners manual confirms that all wardrobes come in at least 2 sections.
Delivery men turn up and attempt to carry up the 2 door wardrobe still in all its packaging. Due to the weight of the wardrobe and the lack of ability (both physical and mental) the delivery men were unable to lift the wardrobe to the required height to reach the top stairs.
Delivery men then offered to leave the wardrobe at the bottom of the stairs for us to move ourselves! No attempt to unpack the wardrobe to see if it was possible to move in sections.
Spoke with Customer Services who stated that it was our fault that the men could not lift the wardrobe into position. Extremely unhelpful and no attempt to accept any responsibility.
Escalated to Complaints and still no resolution.
Result is we have now been told that we will be charged a return fee of £250 for the 2 wardrobes and 2 bedside cabinets.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT EVEN IF THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH ACCESS AND YOU HAVE CHECKED THE PRE DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS, IF THE DELIVERY MEN CANNOT PHYSICALLY LIFT THE HEAVY BOXED FURNITURE THEN YOU WILL EITHER HAVE TO MOVE IT YOURSELF OR PAY THE OUTRAGEOUS RETURN FEES!

Absolutely no customer care at all.
We recently bought a 3 seater sofa and 2 armchairs from the store not online and was given a delivery date for 6 weeks time, this all went smoothly until the date arrived and the morning of our delivery we got a call from customer service telling us that only the two chairs were loaded on the van not the sofa.
On hearing this I was deeply disappointed and angry at there mistake I needed to take a day off work for this to, customer service then said Oak furnitureland UK will call me back to let me know when they can re deliver my sofa I was not happy, and unfortunately they never called back so I called them again and got more lies as now they were saying it was put on the wrong van and they were trying to find it.
This went on for three days yes that's correct three days of stress anxiety phone calls all made by me they never once did cs called me back I'm now very angry as they had my money and just did not care. They didn't care that we as a large family had nothing to sit on.
Finaly a phone call came from the manager apologising for not getting back to me but then had to inform me that the couch has gone missing and they can't find it (unbelievable) and would have to re order it and it will take 5 weeks to make yes that's five weeks without somewhere to sit disgraceful.
Customer service for Oakland furniture are a joke they don't call u back they really don't care and to top it all I have just asked them for an email to confirm my new order and they won't send me one so I have absolutely no faith in them whatsoever.
If your goods arrive on time and your furniture is intact and Undamaged then I'm sure you would have a good review, however if it goes wrong you are soooooo unimportant it's a joke YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I will NEVER step foot inside that company ever again.

My complaint about my poor quality funiture was dismissed by a very loud girl.
If you really want to know how bad Oak furnitureland UK are go to moneysavingexpert.com
I had a very young just out of school sounding Miss King who phoned me about my complaint, she was rude and aggressive and I feel playing to an audience! It went like this...
I have just spent approx. £800.00 with this company and all I can say is buyer beware!
Customer services are a very unpleasant place to be if something is wrong with the item or Item's you have purchased.

I purchased three items from Oak Furniture Land and was assured it was of the best quality and hand crafted and heavily discounted! This description I found out was their loop-hole for customer services to put the phone down on you!

E.g. If you complain that the item is badly put together THE REPLY IS HAND CRAFTED WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!
If you say the wood shelf is not central or not resting on the horizontal supports correctly! HAND CRAFTED AND RUSTIC AS IN THE TITLE OF THE FURNITURE WHAT DO YOU EXPECT
But the one in your showroom was perfect? I THINK YOU SHOULD SEND PICTURES OF YOUR PROBLEM. NO THAT LOOKS FINE ITS HAND CRAFTED. Silly me of cause it is!

I know! I will send an email to the MD with photos. Phone call that very afternoon THE MD AND MYSELF (Personal Assistant Miss King so she says) who told me she checks all emails going to the MD and not to send him anymore, because she checks all his mail! AND WE BOTH THINK THE CONSUL TABLE YOU HAVE PURCHASED IS FINE AND THAT IS THE END OF THIS MATTER... But the shelf is 6mm shy of the legs on one side but touching on the other! IF WE SENT A REPLACEMENT WE COULD NOT GUARANTEE IT WOULD BE BETTER THAN THE ONE YOU HAVE!

With that sentence I was cut off.

Well that just about sums up my dealings with Jason Bannister's new empire OakFurnitureLand only to say buyer beware...
To return the item's within 7 Days will cost you £50.00 per item if they say the item is fine via email or phone that's it.
On looking at the very high volume of complaints about this company, I wish I had checked the internet first before purchasing

MB-R

Delayed deliveries, Damaged products, horrible customer service and extorsion price. NEVER AGAIN
I spent more that 2,000£ buying directly at the store on December 7th. The shop assistant at the shop was so pushy and beg us to buy at the shop and not online because we would have made your job useful and don't risk to be redundant. I have asked if I could have had a little discount due to the high amount spent there. Oak furnitureland UK lady said they don't do any discounts. We arranged the delivery for January 2nd because they said they had lot of deliveries during Christmas period. On December 31st they called me saying they would have delayed the delivery to January 10th due to logistic problems. On January 10th the delivery arrived 2 hours late the agreed time without informing me. The products arrived damaged (2 chairs, tv cabinet, sideboard) with scratches and holes. The TV cabinet had a piece visibly re attached with glue. How is it possible they did that? Do they think that customers are stupid and don't note that the products are damaged! I have called the customer service 4 times asking for replacement and I had to wait 45 minutes on hold before they reply each time. Every time I phoned them there was a different problem (they could not see the pictures, they system didn't work, the agents are busy at the moment, etc!). In the end they said they will replace the damaged product on March 30th as this is the earliest date available. WE HAVE TO WAIT " MONTHS AND A HALF FOR THEIR FAULT! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND EMBARASSING PRICES FOR RUBBISH PRODUCTS and THEY ARE INCOMPETENT.
F... CK OFF!

Organisation & Quality Terrible!
Worst experience of ordering furniture the hassle of toing and froing is not worth ordering from this company. Their Customer service is mediocre and Oak furnitureland UK definitely do not go out of the way to try to help correct your order.

We ordered the Hercules dining table with 8 chairs and brown check seat covers in the middle of September inside the store, customer service inside the store was wonderful and we paid extra to have it delivered within 2 days.

Friday morning the delivery men came, was a little bit excited and what was delivered was someone else's cancelled order, the same table however completely different chairs. We decided to keep the table and the delivery men took back the chairs. We opened the table to find the metal pole to extend the table was bent so wouldn't extend and at the side of the table the wood had a small split. We spoke to customer services who were helpful after the 3rd time of calling because apparently they had no record of us ringing up the first 2 times and they arranged for us to have our correct chairs and another table top delivered but we would have to wait 1 & half weeks so we waited.

I received a text message with my allocated time slot and was told I would receive a 30 minute phone call before hand (like my first order) the deliver came before the time slot so I wasn't around and I had no call to say they would be 30 minutes.
Finally the second table top and 8 chairs arrived. We opened the table top first to find the table had completely split on one side, we then checked the chairs which were fine 8 chairs all correct but the seat covers weren't I had 6 brown check which I wanted and 2 beige. We rang customer service straight away who just said we can arrange another delivery in a couple of days and they apologised, we asked if the furniture could be quality checked before it went out to delivery but the answer was that they don't quality check once it is at the depot to be released. We are now waiting for our 3rd table and chair covers to be delivered but will not know what it looks like until it arrives as Oak Furniture Land do not quality check.

Come on Oak Furntiure Land you are supposed to be selling top of the range wooden furniture and you cant even organise your furniture to be quality checked and delivered on time.

Overall I would recommend not going with Oak Furniture Land because you will just spend over a month unpacking and packing the boxes back up for them to just "Keep Trying" to get it right.

Avoid like the plaque
I was planning to visit Oakfurnitureland on my day off but I wanted to check the cost of delivery on the website before. I added an item to the basket and made my way to the checkout page as its the only way to see the cost of delivery. You had to put in your email and phone number first. 10 minutes later I get a phone call asking me if there was a problem because I hadn't completed my order. I didn't mind the call because I half expected it. I explained it was just to check the postage and I would visit the shop on Sunday. About 2 hours later I get another call telling me that Oak furnitureland UK can see I visited the website and were still trying to sell me something. I explained I will come and see on Sunday. Next morning another call. I said look this is becoming a joke now, stop bothering me. Ok we will take you off our list. 6 phone calls later and they finally got the message. I did end up going to the shop and within 5 minutes I realised that although the items are all hardwood they are all very flimsy. All of the tops on the chest of drawers are extremely thin and cut out on the inside to make it still appear like its a thick solid piece of oak from the outside. When in fact it's extremely thin.

Never delivered, ruined Christmas
Do not buy from Oak Furnitureland. EVER. We ordered in October and could not be given a delivery date before Tuesday 18 December, but we were assured this was a GUARANTEED date. The stores have 'free delivery' posted everywhere, but what Oak furnitureland UK don't tell you (until you're ready to pay) is that if you decide you want a fixed date (rather than one where you just wait forever until they feel like telling you when), you have to pay 39 quid. At which point you think (stupidly) 'well at least if I pay that it will be certain to turn up'. Right? Wrong.

On the delivery day they sent a text telling us we had 2-5pm delivery slot, but it got to 4.30 and we rang, to be told there was a 1 hour delay. Just after 5 we got a call to say that our furniture wasn't even out for delivery - it was never on the truck. We've spent the last few days trying to get it redelivered by Friday, with constant assurances that oh yes it will be there. Finally today they've told us it's not in stock and we can't get it at all.

THEY NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION AT ALL OF DELIVERING OUR FURNITURE.

They tell you in the store that the furniture is made to order. So if our suite has been made for us, how can it just disappear? It's all lies and more lies. Don't believe a word of the 'guarantee', you will be disappointed and will not get what you ordered. I haven't even told you all the other things they did to try to placate us, before finally running out the clock on Thursday - 5 days before Christmas, with no possibility of ordering from anywhere else.

Remember that if you're expecting a large set of furniture you'll probably want to get rid of the old one before your 'promised' delivery day, which we did. DO NOT DO THAT. We now have an empty living room, no furniture to put in it, and with 6 people coming for Christmas Day we have no furniture to sit on.

Oak Furnitureland is a shoddy, disreputable company who will tell you lies to get your money, and they simply do not deliver. Literally.

We'll get getting a refund once the showrooms are open again. And yes, we will be going there in person to confront the manager. Expect us on Boxing Day, and hopefully we can also have a little chat with some other prospective customers who we can tell this to.

Bear in mind that they've had 1800 quid of our money since October, so they've made some interest on it even if they give us a full refund.

If you try to get through to their customer service department you will be in a queue for 20, 30, 40 minutes. We had one woman talk to us, tell us she was transferring us to a different department, then just put us right back in the phone queue for 20 minutes! And of course we were then just answered by a different person in the same 'customer service' department.

We'll be contacting Trading Standards, and posting this on as many review sites as we are able to find. Oak Furnitureland has spoiled our Christmas, so we are determined to let people know about it.

Nothing about this company is professional. Nothing they do is what they say it is. DO NOT GO THERE. EVER.

Disgusting Service, Damaged Products!
Disgusting Service!

Bought a full bedroom set which was delivered yesterday for nothing short of £1,500. Wardrobe is split into 4 parts so the delivery driver can get it upstairs yet the 2 largest parts are boxed together inside each other. Delivery drivers refuse to take it up our standard sized stairs because of the weight and size of how it was packaged due to insurance reasons (too heavy and large for them), then had the nerve to threaten me with either we leave it down stairs for you to deal with or we take it back and you'll be charge 25% of the cost!?

When I challenged him on this, he said he didn't know, he's 'just a delivery driver'. Oak furnitureland UK couldn't get out the house quick enough. Threatening messages all over the boxes saying the return is void if box is damaged. How on earth can you not rip the box open? The item is too large and ceilings too low to take the box off in one piece once it is in your house?

Item was damaged which is why the delivery drivers won't unbox it for you and separate the 2 largest parts of the wardrobe in order to get it upstairs, because they know, they'll end up taking most of the furniture back. That's why they try to cover theirselves with a bunch of disclaimers.

I would suggest Oak Furniture Land look to box these separately, so they can be transferred upstairs by your driver's?

You can see that the item was damaged before painting and delivery as the grooves in it have been painted over.

DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU ARE EXPECTING SOME MINOR DAMAGE AND HAVE FULL RESOURCE TO GET IT UPSTAIRS YOURSELF. Luckily I did...

But would never ever use this company again, would of been cheaper, less time consuming and better quality getting a flatpack from IKEA.

You've been warned.

After sales experience very poor
I have looked at the reviews after purchasing items and have found similar minded people on this site who are not happy. On another review sites all seems to be perfect. Strange as I am now having to leave a negative review which I have never felt the need to do before.
We visited the Huddersfield showroom and chose 3 pieces of furniture. The shopping experience was excellent. The furniture arrived and 2 of the 3 pieces were damaged to our disappointment. The sideboard was really damaged with cracks and scratches visible on opening the top of the packaging. It was so damaged we left it in the box. A small end table had an 8 inch scratch across the top. The large tv stand was fine. It took me over 45 minutes to get through to customer services. It was arranged to replace the 2 damaged pieces. The delivery date came and the delivery men swapped the furniture and left. This time the end table was fine but I was disheartened to see there was a 3 and half inch scratch on the sideboard front. More or less in same area the previous piece had been extensively damaged, I could not get through to customer services so I sent an email to customer services. The previous experience reporting the furniture damage had involved photographs being uploaded to customer services. I needed help with this again to show the damage. I did not get an email reply so I rang again to report the damage. I was really fed up with the whole experience and did not want to go through another delivery. The item was not in expected good condition and I felt my previous experience with damaged furniture would extend some sympathy for my position. I rang customer services and it took over 50 mins to get through. My son uploaded the photo of the damaged piece. I was offered a technician to come and polish out the scratch. I said I wanted to return it and asked for a refund. This was not available and the customer service chap said; it was only a little scratch;. I was loosing my patience now at the lack of respect for the inconvenience I had gone through. I asked for a discount for goods that would be reduced if Oak furnitureland UK were on sale damaged. I was offered 50 pound. I said that was not enough and asked for at least 75 pound. I was offered 65 pound. I felt I was having a conversation I really didnt want. In effect we were arguing over 10 pound when I had spent a heck of a lot of money. I wanted undamaged goods and was feeling I was unreasonable complaining. The refund was an insult. I was glad to end the conversation. I would not reccomend Oak FurnitureLand to anyone.

Arrogant service
Having paid almost £4000 for furniture, we are very disappointed. Fast delivery, but damaged doors to a double wardrobe, then a leg fell off a bedside unit, went to store having had no joy with customer services, Oak furnitureland UK contacted them and gave me the phone and was she arrogant to say the least, the guy in the store was shocked. I have to say that after a lot of hassle, a lot of phoning and going back to store, i managed to get a technician (not my words)to come out and try to sand the doors down and respiratory, it looked worse and the technician agreed. I will take photos and get you a set of doors and come and put them on, all lies. After more hassle we got a set of doors which proved to hard for me to put on, I asked them to send someone to do it,(STILL WAITING) I did get a new unit after more hassle, lots more things we are still waiting to be sorted, the best of it is we took out the insurance of £299, in case of things going wrong, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy even a cardboard box off this company. They must be the worlds worst, A lot of money, a lot of promises and FALSE apologies, and why am I still dealing with this dreadful company when surely customer services or the store should do it. Buy at your peril

A mixed (good and bad) review.
We moved to a new house two years ago and I bought furniture for three bedrooms from the Hove range. I knew that the bodies of the furniture weren't solid oak but I wanted the white finish with the oak tops. No problems at all. Very pleased with all items and Oak furnitureland UK look lovely. With a new-build house everything is white! The oak tops just break up the "whiteness".
Fast forward two years………I ordered items from the Brindle painted range for our lounge. I thought they would fit in nicely with the Brindle bookcase and large desk and chair in the study (bought two years ago). I wanted to move the bookcase into our lounge so removed all the books. To my horror I found that all the painted areas exposed to light had faded terribly. The areas covered by books had not. I then checked the desk and the insides of doors, drawers and the side that gets no light were the original colour. The rest has faded. Ok, hands up, I hadn't really noticed but once I did I was appalled. The furniture I planned to replace is 32 years old and is still lovely. I just wanted something more modern.
To cut a long story short, I've had a battle with Customer Services. When I finally(2 hours plus in total) got through I was told the items were out of the 1 year manufacturers warranty and to claim on the insurance I took out., which I did.
They rejected the claim. They don't cover fading. The furniture is in a North facing room which gets little sun, if any, just natural daylight. Am I supposed to keep my curtains closed?! I didn't let this drop. It's been a bit of a battle but we "escalated " the claim and someone is coming to look at the furniture tomorrow. Watch this space!
I cancelled my order for the new Brindle furniture and got a refund within 3 days which was a pleasant surprise. I have since ordered from another company.
In short, beware the ranges with the coloured painted finishes…. Avoid at all costs unless you want to be replacing expensive items after two years,

Never Again
Paid for a delivery slot specifically so we could arrange unpacking and help with any heavy weight. Son decorated, moved furniture etc. I arranged my day to be there to take delivery for him. He arranged for removal of packing. No communication on day of delivery, so I phoned. OFL had neglected to schedule delivery, and would not deliver the next day. After a heated conversation the young man condescended to refund the delivery charge, but I wanted to cancel order. Another person spoke to me, much more amenable (did not want to loose the sale!) so it was rescheduled. I had to rearrange my day again.
Furniture arrived, told I had just 24hrs to check. Looking at the amount of packing, and as we not longer had the transport to dispose of it, OFL extended the time. When unpacking, it was found some of the furniture was damaged. I rang OFL next morning, but Oak furnitureland UK 'do not do' customer services at weekends. I tried to send pictures on their web site, but it did not recognise my order number. Rang on Monday morning, they sent email for return of photos.
Web site says needs photos of damage, also sticker, but if sticker cannot be found a front & back photo of furniture will do.
No return call monday, no return call tuesday, so I rang Tues late afternoon. They said they can't do anything without sticker (yet web page says otherwise) Were they ever going to get in touch to tell me? Sticker found on a different piece to that which was damaged. Someone was going to ring first thing Weds morning, but they did not, I had to ring them, OK they will replace, but too late for a Friday delivery. Now had they been in touch regarding the sticker on Monday or Tues morning we may have had a Friday delivery. This has been three weekends in which the wardrobes cannot be fixed in place. Most of the customer service team don't give a... My son is in chaos waiting, with furniture he can't use, in the middle of his small flat.

Rubbish furniture DON'T BUY
Purchased sofa chair and footstool in march 2018 all arrived damaged or sent out homeserve to repair unsuccessfully. Oak furnitureland UK then offered to replace, so had to wait a further 16wks for replacements to arrive they arrived on August 9 2018 again items damaged the chair looks second hand and has gaps, I'm not joking, of 4inches between the arms and seat the settee won't lock at the back on one side and there are a number of scuffs on the leather have. Have taken photos. Informed ofl who again sent out homeserve they said they could bring back to showroom condition.
Am I missing something here it should have arrived in showroom condition.
Ofl say they will now refund upon return hmmm.
Yes very soft after one week wife 8stone wet through me 13stone ish no children, little darlings jumping around, anybody interested a company called landbond supplies ofl managing directors name Jason bannister!
Rubbish furniture, Rubbish company, even worse customer services anyone even remotely considering buying from this company my advice based on personal experience is DON'T save yourself the time wasted and hassle gained!
One more thing homeserve tell lies Am 2k down at the moment

Don't expect the delivery service you pay for.
Delivery men left wardrobe outside my front door, when I'd paid £49.99 for specialist delivery inside property.
Barely looked at door ( didn't measure) said door would not go back far enough to get box in.
Told my husband to unpack & build outside, "it would be easier" ( for them) -Oak furnitureland UK disappeared quickly.
We live in a flat and they had to use a lift, (we'd measured lift and door) don't think they were happy.
Small walkway outside, people have to use it to get downstairs.
They did not even try to take some of the cardboard off to help.
My husband is 64 with illness -arthritis, spine curved, neck bone fused can't move neck, he looks ill.
Took the pair of us an hour to tear off the cardboard and polystyrene ( throwing bits in our bathroom) then trying to take the weight together to get inside. The wardrobe comes in two parts, ( drawer base separate) be aware. Drawer packed inside the main wardrobe. This makes it extra heavy.
Had to leave it until next day to try and put two pieces together. Lifting main part onto base was nearly impossible, I wasn't strong enough and nearly let it slide down on onto his head. Sounds comical but we weren't laughing and were wrecked.
Customer service only offered to refund part of delivery price to take it down to a doorstep delivery. Told me refund would take 10-14 days. I complained.
There was an apology but no empathy.
Sent email of complaint, no response.
They sent generic email, saying refund would now be 3-5 working days, no mention of complaint.
Never wrote a bad review before but wanted to warn people.
£50 is a lot of money for a specialist delivery. £9.99 is still a lot when they have to deliver your purchase anyway.
Seems like unless you live in a bungalow with your bedroom right by the front door and the item isn't heavy you'll be okay. I'll buy elsewhere in future.

If you any have problem with furniture your on your own beware
I have just had occasion to get in touch with them due to the fact that I purchased a
TV corner unit and within ten weeks a piece of wood broke away from the area where the DVD player goes.
I took three pictures as requested one of the identification label, one of the damage area with a rule at the side of damaged area to show size of damage and one of unit so Oak furnitureland UK could asses where
The damage was on the unit.
The following day I had a phone call off a lady (C. Biggs) saying that she along with her Manager (M. Berry) had reviewed the pictures and they said it was deemed not to be a manufacturing fault so I should make a claim under the protection policy that I had taken out at extra cost.
I stated that I have viewed the damaged area with a magnifying glass and could see that filler had been used and thats what had fallen out. After a lot of negative attitude off C. Biggs I said that if they were to send someone out to inspect the product they would see the residues filler to which C. Biggs said she was not prepared to send anybody to look at the item. At which point I said I would talk to citizens advice the call ended.
The following day I had a call off (M. Berry) and he said he would now send someone to look at the unit. He then said in a very aloof manner I will tell you that on inspection we find that it is not a manufacturing fault then we will not support any repairs. I said if that was all I had asked.
These two people showed a very dictatorial condescending attitude almost to the point that if they changed their minds it may show weakness. It was a manufacturing fault and not damage that we had caused and because I stood my ground I was made to feel I was in the wrong.
All in all a most unprofessional experience a small amount of customer service by offering to send someone to look at the problem would have solved the issue.
On this performance I could not in any circumstances recommend Oak furnitureland to anybody in fact I would guide them away not because of product quality but because of lack of good customer services.

Terrible quality
Updated a day ago

Me and my partner ordered £4000 of

Me and my partner ordered £4000 of items between us in May 2020.

We E-mailed on 3 separate occasions to cancel the orders well before delivery dates. We E-mailed Mon 18th, Wed 20th and Fri 22nd which was the week before the following Wednesday 27th delivery.

The E-mails had an automated response, but we had no reply until Monday 25th which is understandable due to covid-19. To be fair. One week after the first E-mail and 2 days before the delivery date was my response time.

We received a phone call that was from John on the retentions team on Monday 25th.

I was cancelling because I had seen lots of pictures of reviews on ReviewFeeder. Oh my God those reviews were accurate btw!

During the phone call with John on the retentions team. He assured me there can be problems but not often. This was untrue. I knew I was going to have issues and oh boy I did! My biggest regret was not cancelling there and then.

So Wednesday 27th comes. I received a wiltshire dining table that was ok, but it did have imperfections on it. Strange light cube/square like marks about 2cm x 2cm on the dining top in 2 places. I could live with that not too bad. I am not complaining about that. I'll give a bit of leaway.

So I waxed my Wiltshire bookshelf and used one of the dining chairs to get to the top. The seat made a crunching noise from the leather seat, so I got off it immediately. This shows how poorly Oak furnitureland UK are made. The 6 chairs were half price which seems to go on forever to be honest. Bank holiday, end of month sale and big savings event are 3 things I have seen in the past 2 weeks on the website. It's a load of rubbish and a selling point.

Getting back to the furniture. I also received 2 wiltshire bedside tables. This range has a line pattern around the top, this is created by putting a square panel of wood into the centre on the top of the drawers creating a gap around it. That square panel was put on without care diagonally instead of straight and looks ridiculous. Some sides are thick now some thin around the top. It obviously looks pretty strange not being asymmetrical. Pictures of this were sent to customer services on Saturday and I am awaiting a response.

The second bedside table is natural light coloured wood everywhere and a bottom drawer on one side of the drawer is half light and dark coloured that also looks silly. Looks like it's been built with wood scraps, no wastage. There is no fault on this but it looks silly.

Major concerns

A wardrobe arrived badly damaged and I had to lift 100kg to the shed as well as putting my old furniture back upstairs! Almost broke my fiancees back. Lucky I had a shed because it would have been left outside otherwise. My house is small and the returns team are not working at the moment. I now have to wait for returns to resume to swap the wardrobe. Arranging a replacement wasn't easy. I was on hold for 30 mins, the assistant never called me back after uploading photo evidence, so I was on hold for another 30 mins. The second assistant had cartoons on quite loud in the background too. It feels like an interrogation when they deliver damaged items... it shouldn't be like this.

Me and my fiancee had to carry the 100kg wardrobe from the side of our house to our shed. The wardrobe arrived with the base inside the wardrobe doors and the sides of the wardrobe were completly snapped. Huge 80cm splits in the side panelling shows how thin the wood is as it was well packed and the back panelling was moving freely. Lots of packaging to get rid of too. So I had to go to the tip.

I have 2 outstanding orders of a Hercules range of a double wardrobe, 2 bedside tables, bedroom drawers in another order too; so I'm pooping myself here.

Think I might have to cancel those 2 orders as they are £1500 and I don't fancy lifting another broken wardrobe to my shed or getting other imperfect bedside tables. I am left with a wardrobe in my shed with an unknown pickup and swap date and 2 weird bedside tables.

John was fair with me and added the free gifts that I didn't add to my basket which was kind of him.

This furniture in made in Vietnam, takes ages to deliver if not available and is made without care and cheaply where possible, side panels especially. The only positive thing I can say is that the drawers have dovetail joints and are pretty solid as are legs.

Quite gutted overall

Delivered order numbers are

5527519 dining suite

5527888 2 x Wiltshire bedroom tables, tallboy, double wardrobe and bookshelf.

Outstanding orders:

5519057 2 x hercules bedroom tables and double wardrobe, 4 free gifts from spend £1500 offer x 2 (July 6th delivery)

5567353 hercules drawers, wax and a mirror (July 6th delivery)

Which I may cancel as I'm not very pleased.

0 stars! Ghastly experience!
I ordered 2 sofas at the beginning of March 2020. I visited the store in Colwick Nottingham after lockdown on 29th July to look at the sofas again and the salesman assured me that the order was going through as normal. The delivery date was given to me was 11th August. I was informed on 6th August, 5 days beforehand that the delivery had been delayed for a month, no reason given and the new date given me was 10th September.

My old sofas were picked up on 9th September for donation to a charity. A text at 08.10 the same day informed me that the delivery slot for my sofas for the following day, Thursday was between 10am-1pm. At 17.10 on the Wednesday, I was sent a text telling me to phone the company "at my convenience" regarding my order. I rung the number to be told that my sofas "could not be delivered tomorrow". I asked why and was told Oak furnitureland UK did not know the reason- they may have been damaged or gone astray. I spoke to the manager who gave no further information.

The following day, 10th September, a van drew up outside my house. Two guys turned up to give me my free gift of a dressing table mirror. They said they were expecting to bring me two sofas that morning and queried why they weren't at the warehouse to be told they were not available. They were extremely shocked and very apologetic that I had been so let down so badly. (They are the only people who treated me with any decency in this comedy of errors.) Incidentally the dressing table mirror was damaged and unusable- what a surprise!

As you can imagine I was extremely upset and angry. I had waited over 6 months for this order to come, it had already been deferred once and now I was told there was no alternative but to re-order, the order would take a further 18 weeks with no guarantee of getting the sofas at the end. Other alternatives were to choose other sofas and £250 would be credited against my account or if I cancelled, to be compensated with a £100 voucher. When I asked the manager why I would ever use a voucher to buy anything from OFL stores ever again, he had no answer. I wonder why? He offered to ring me again on 11th September at 10am after discussion with his team to see if there were any other options. He rung late at 10.40am on 11th September and said the same things. There were no other options presented and I said I still hadn't made up my mind what to do. He said he would phone 16th Sept at 10am. He did NOT ring.

I was absolutely furious at the utter contempt with which I have been treated by OFL. No-one cared (except the delivery guys) about what has happened or that I was left without sofas to sit on. Clearly no-one bothered to check that the sofas (presumably) did not ever exist, until 5 pm on the day before they were due to be delivered. I was not phoned nor have I been given a reason as to what happened.

To be texted, and not even get the courtesy of a phone call to tell me the sofas would not be delivered after 6 months without any reason given added insult to injury and reminded me again that this company has treated me with utter contempt. No phone call from the manager as promised has reiterated the same impression.

I wrote and complained to the firm for attention of CEO. Eventually someone got back to me and after being pressed eventually admitted that the order had never gone through! No offer of compensation for the inconvenience and distress and waste of 6 months. Got a miserable £100 voucher after insisting on something. I will NEVER buy anything from them again. Have now got 2 sofas from Next, delivered in days, great quality and service.
Have figured out the reason why their official reviews are so good- they ask you for a review just after you have ordered the furniture, NOT after they have delivered it- often late, poor quality, damaged, with poor after sales service or not at all! Wish I could give them 0 stars. Don't touch them with a barge pole!
