Back ordered a free drum and got it three weeks early because someone changed their order. Staff was more than helpful throughout process. Instructions are vague but exactly how it needs to be installed. Took a few weeks for it to remove organics from my system because I had mat filters that I cleaned every other day previously. Water is crystal clear, fish are more active and best of all.. now I just add water to keep up with evaporation. Not saying it keeps me from maintaining system, just that it’s 90% less than it was. The all stainless filter looks amazing and the controller is top of the line with easily programmed functions. You can let it run automatically or run your own program if you think you can get it more efficient. The electronics are easily replaced with any available aftermarket switches making it a no brainer unlike other units ive seen. I would go as far as to say this unit is bulletproof if you are any good at basic trouble shooting. Id definitely recommend freedrum filters to anyone making an investment into this hobby as the top of the line mechanical filtration. That being said, you still need a biological filter on point for any system to work properly. I believe the gravity feed option to be the only useful way for this system to work as intended. Honestly you cannot beat this quality at this price point. I looked long and hard before pulling the trigger on the purchase. I hope this helps someone make a hard decision.
Playitkoi is the best local pond supplier period. They have everything I need, especially parts for my discontinued Matala biosteps. They even reached out to let me know parts weren't available and gave valuable information regarding compatibility with parts for the updated model. Playitkoi definitely cares about their customers and they are a great company to support.
I thought it was a scam at first, but thank goodness I was wrong. I feel like the prices are a bit pricey to be honest. But we all have to make a living the best we can in this economy, I know. Once it was shipt it only took one day to get here which that by itself was pretty impressive. I plan to keep coming back and have already recommended yall to my neighbor. I'm sure I'll tell more also. Thanks again! And I appreciate you getting back to me when I was worried about my order, even though it was a weekend you still messaged back. Great customer service! I am very impressed.
This is a company I never heard of before I was looking for the brand Pond algae cleaner but I couldn't find it I did find it at play itkoi and they had a service where they would let me know when they had it back in stock. A few days later I was able to order it and it came to my house much quicker than I expected because it was a product I really wanted I paid that postage which I thought was too high. All in all I am pleased and I will keep an eye on their emails to see what else they have that I might want
I called with a quick question and got so much more. I got a willing ear, expert advice and super fast service. Within an hour, I had an email detailing the conversation with specific suggestions and a few things that I hadn't even considered.
I love that they're a small, local company, whose prices are on par with (or better) anything else you find on "the big A." I'll definitely be getting all my pond products from them moving forward.
The lotus plants I received are healthy at least but I was hoping that they would be larger, more advanced in growth. These lotus are being used at an estate that's well known in Saratoga Springs, NY. That estate reopened for visitors this year. Because there are fish in the pool the lotus were placed in I have to do what I can to keep the plants in that pool from being the fish's salad.
I also think that requiring lotus orders in groups of three makes it difficult to try more than one variety.
I purchased this 60 mil pound liner for porch cover which the agent told me that is perfect for
I was also asking the agent how they wrapping it and he said they fold it and I was very concerned that it will be very wrinkled and lines all over by the fold he said it won’t be
But unfortunately I was right and after opening it had deep lines every 3feet
I had spent several hours and still can’t get it smooth
So if you are thinking to use it as a porch cover consider this
Appreciated the detailed information on the website which helped me select the right plants for our planting site. I had the bright idea to get my husband plants for Father’s Day but it was the Thursday before. My selection was quickly prepared, fed ex shipped and arrived in plenty of time for Father’s Day! The plants came in great condition and are already in the ground this morning - on Fathers Day. Thanks for making me look like I planned for weeks! Can’t wait for them to take root and grow!
I have used this site before and my orders were just fine. . However I had a special request on an order and not only did the owner see the email the same day but it was addressed the same day. AND my request was made during their busy season and they are likely facing labor and supply chain issues like many other small businesses.
I have written less than 5 reviews ever, but the service was so outstanding I needed to. I will go to this site first from now on!!
I love it when I can get service directly from a business owner, and Ben is very responsive to questions, even after hours. Ben recommended equipment for my pond, which I installed about 16 months ago. The parts arrived quickly. The pump, filter basket, retrofit bottom drain and plumbing accessories have been flawless. Try the Koi Krunchies! My fish never ate out of my hand before, but they started to when I gave them these!
We appreciate the great communication this business gave us.
We purchased a few aquatic plants and they made sure we knew they’d come in a timely manner but according to our planting season zone.
This was helpful for newbies as the weather wouldn’t have been right if they’d sent the plants just to get them out their doors sooner.
Plants arrived healthy and carefully packaged. So far they are doing great! We look forward to buying more in the future.
Shipping costs for some pond plant suppliers have become outrageous. I found Play It Koi and their selection included everything I normally purchase plus some that I hadn't seen before. Everything came in perfect condition -- better than what I have received for the past decade from a different supplier. All was wrapped and packed well...and SHIPPING WAS FREE! They have multiple locations in the US so wherever you live your plants should arrive soon and in outstanding condition, just like mine.
I ordered six pond lilies on 5/14 with two day expedited delivery. I received my six pond lilies on Friday late afternoon 5/27! I have never purchased pond lilies online before. There were six plants....two different lilies...both groups of three wrapped in moist brown paper....no details of what to do except what I had read online! At that late hour of the evening preparing for an international flight I was not prepared to start prepping and planting lilies. I am so disappointed as I am a new pond lily owner with Play it Koi. I had sent several messages in advance about the arrival of these plants in a timely manner...I advised at time of purchase I was leaving the country late May. I reached out to Play it Koi about this delivery delay in my distress on May 20th. I received an update May 25th that they were on their way. I submerged them last nite when I opened the box in a 5 gallon pot of water with mud covering their bare roots. I hope they are not dead on my return in 8 days! Thankfully I have international internet and can send this message today May 28th and expect an ASAP reply! If they are dead I expect a replacement.....order placed 5/14...recieved 5/27!!!! TWO day shipping was not honoured as from prep time to delivery should not have been 13 days! In the interim, I expect advice as to how to pot these lilies now for placing in my pond since they are in an emergency setting of mud in a water filled container. My pond has a waterfall and moving water which I discussed last year by phone with Ben when questioning how to feed my fish without the food flowing downstream and into the filter....the device I purchased from you never worked...Laguna Floating Fish Feeding Ring...Cost: $7.98...Priority Shipping $9.38....the shipping cost was more than the device which incidentally never worked!!! And now the shipping for plants that took 13 day is once again a major charge. I am not happy with my shipping method expense and with the situation I am once again finding myself...dissatisfied with Play It Koi...
Would like some info on how to use the product - trying to control some invasive native lillies and sage pondweed, my pond is about 30,000 gal of water. I also purchased the blue dye, what are the specifications I should do when using the product I purchased. Should I leave the waterfall on during use, have some mosquito fish and a few gold fish. Would like to kill the invasive weeds and save the fish but the weeds are the priority. Thanks for your help.
The plants arrived and were in great shape.
I want to wait until the plants become a bit more acclimated before sharing pictures, but everything seems to be doing well and getting adjusted.
This has been a very odd spring in PA. It's the end of May and we are struggling to get into the 70s, and there have been torrential downpours just about each Friday! We have 9.5" of rain this month... I just hope the plants don't wash away.
I never received the package even though FedEx said it was delivered. I started a case file with them. They are the worst shipper I have ever dealt with and would never use them. This is not the first time they screwed up a delivery. They normally deliver to Sherman Avenue when it should be Sherman Place. If that is the only shipping service you use I will not be other anything from you.
Thank you.
I had ordered both mare's-tail and the dwarf mountain red-stemmed form of mare's-tail. The plants arrived very well packed in great condition. The bunches are exceedingly generous both in number of stems with good roots, spreading stolons and length of stems. I wish I had ordered from Play It Koi, before I had ordered mare's-tail from another large online pond plant retailer. I ordered 6 bunches from the other source. I received 6 big globs of clay in each 2 inch basket which contained 2-4 small stems in each glob of clay. That has got to be some very valuable clay. The cost per bunch or glob of clay was about the same for each retailer. One bunch from Play It Koi had approximately 10x the amount of mare's-tail than the whole 6 balls of clay received from the other source. There you have it, comparing one of my worst pond plant order experiences with one of my best. As what usually happens, the small family owned retailer works much harder at giving their customers a much better product than most of the larger operations. Thank you Play It Koi for your generosity and your labor of love.
I am so impressed with the amazing staff at PlayItKoi. Am working with Derek who has given me immense help with planning my 3000-gallon box pond. From building material suggestions to sharing his vast knowledge and experience working with ponds, he has made my experience so much more positive and enjoyable. Looking forward to uploading some video after I finish it.
Sincerely,
Clark
My pond is recovering from an otter raid this past fall. Here in the PNW, we have been having one of the coldest springs on record. This is the latest, and dirtiest start up of my pond - ever. Enter Play It Koi to the rescue! I bought a seasons worth of PondMAX ClearMAX Flocculent clarifier, and a jug of Microbe-Lift PL Beneficial Bacteria to get my pond clean and healthy. Ben had my order the very next day for pickup. Now I have no excuse to delay my annual big clean up (thanks Ben?! - now I get to get wet). I will be back for new fish if I don’t see my otter friend milling about. Jeff in Seattle
Don’t really have any negative experience. I did order 4 unions and only got 1. When I called about the shortage they explained they only had the one and could not fulfill the full Oder. They gave me the option of different product or refund. Some might see this as a negative but with supply chain issues globally you should expect things like this to happen. What stands out for me is the way they resolved the issue with out any frustration for me.
