Cheap Chinese Crap
I was surprised that the item i got was a cheap, thin, polyester costume. For $42 i expected something at least middle of the road. This is worse than a $15 Halloween costume. And as a matter of fact, the front of the package claimed the worth of the goods was $10. Which sounds about right. Retro Stage even lied about the material on their website, claiming it was made of soft stretchy Cotton, Spandex. It's not. It's made of Polyester. Liars.

Don't pay of this Cheap Chinese Crap. It's a thoughtless, attempt to cash in on retro fashion by overcharging on poorly assembled goods.

They will make you pay OVER 75% of the price of the product to return the item to a country that it wasn't even sent from. They will not pay for your return, even after lying to you about what the product is made of, and lying about the price of their product. They are scammers. Do not buy from them!

Make up ways to keep your money and not refund
First of all Retro Stage dont tell you that you only have 15 days to return until your check out is completed, Then you need their permission and try reaching them,\. They make it very difficult to reach them. The only way is texting, I had to pay for return shipping. Then I had to
Text them about my refund, They claimed the dress had no tags which was correct because that is the way I received it, They also said it was not returnable because it had marks on it, that was an absolute and total LIE! The dress was returned exactly as it was received. I threatened to take further action as I thought that was a terrible way to keep people's money. I quickly got a text back saying they would return my money. How strange is that. So i paid 43.99 for the dress and 4.95 for shipping. Then I paid $18.00 to ship it back. So beware I paid a total of 66.94 and only got refunded 43.99. WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE AGAIN. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Not happy
I ordered a whole outfit and paid for expedited shipping. It then told me that it would take an extra few days to prepare my package to ship (which it did not say when I placed the order). I was on a time crunch, but with expedited shipping it would have been exactly on time if not early. I tried to cancel my order after receiving an email and Retro Stage would not cancel any of my items and said they were already shipped. I got an email a few days later that said the items were shipped, but were split into different shipments.

One package came from China had my shoes and has such a horrible smell to them. The beading is snagged and they are very cheaply made. Glue is very visible and the padding in the shoes is coming up already. I didn't even bother opening the dress, because it came 4 days after my event had ended.

Not very happy with the quality of the shoes or the
Customer service I have received. I also have to pay for shipping to return the items back! I will never use this company again.

Non-existent Customer Service
I ordered a dress on December 2nd to wear for a roaring 20's party in December and paid for expedited shipping as I wanted to ensure it arrived in time for the party. I was hesitant so I called to cancel the order only to reach no one. After several attempts, I left a telephone message. That night I received a tracking email from Bree that the dress had shipped. I immediately sent an email asking that the order not be sent and canceled. No dress, no communication and 4 months later, today I received an email saying the purse that I'd purchased as part of the order is being shipped. This is absurd! Now I have to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge that I canceled the SAME DAY maybe ten minutes after placing the order.

I cannot comment on the quality because I never received the dress/earring. Stay away unless you can wait four months to receive your order.

Pleasantly surprised!
I saw negative reviews about their website, so I didn't put in an order the first times I saw their ads in my Facebook feed. However, there was this 1940's silk dress that kept popping up in my feed that I loved and I couldn't find it on any other vintage dress site, so I decided to give it a shot since I couldn't stop thinking about that dress. After putting in the order, I kept worrying that the material would be junky or it would fit poorly; I had really low expectations. But when the order got to me yesterday, I was seriously impressed! It fits me just like I hoped it would, the material is soft and beautiful, and it looks just like the picture on the site when I wear it. It fits true to size and I have absolutely no complaints. I was so pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure why people left so many negative comments. Perhaps Retro Stage have improved their quality over time? I will say that the shipping time was longer than I normally wait for shipments, but I recognize that they are taking extra precautions with shipping right now, and it was definitely worth the wait for me.
I will be shopping from them again in the future!

Cheap and bad service!

First and last time I buy anything from here. What you see online is not what you get in reality. When I received the dress it was cheap material and very itchy. I had such a problem from the get-go. First I placed an order then I got an email saying Retro Stage were out so o would receive it about a week later. I told them I would be moving and needed them to send it to my new address. They still sent it to my old address so then it took even longer to receive the package. I emailed about my disappointment in the product and then I was told I had to buy the label and return it. Why should I shell out more money to return a pathetic dress? I think it's so wrong that companies expect you to pay for a return level because their product is a piece of trash! Very very disgusted.

Expedited Shipping is a Scam
I ordered a few dresses at the beginning of December and decided to pay for expedited shipping to make sure I got one of the dresses in time for Christmas. Well it took 8 days for them to even ship one of the dresses and expedited shipping is 6-10 days. A few of the dresses shipped out earlier but it has been more than 10 business days and Retro Stage are no where to be seen.
I'd be more understanding knowing it's coming from overseas if it didn't take 8 days to even process one of my dresses when I paid extra to get it quicker. I'm now not getting my dress in time for the event I purchased it for. I emailed to express my displeasure and they were very rude in responding and didn't even apologize for the delay. They offered no explanation just said I could return the dresses once I receive them. But I'm pretty sure they make you pay shipping back so then I'll be paying shipping twice! I just wanted a refund for the shipping cost the was by no means expedited!

Wish I could give them zero stars honestly! The website lies about both processing and shipping time. Retro Stage say processing takes 1-2 days "Bree" from customer service will tell you it takes 3-6 days. They also state 6-9 days shipping with no other options again "Bree" will tell you it's actually 8-15 days. I multiple times have asked for a supervisor but "Bree" refuses to give up sending me information I have not asked for and answering everything besides the questions I have actually asked like for a return label since they didn't deliver or process within their given time frame so I can be refunded for something I couldn't use due to their mistakes and blatant lies. The dresses aren't even that great of quality and run super super small order at least TWO sizes up if you want to deal with scam artists. If you're looking for a gatsby dress go to amazon great quality, pretty accurate sizing, fast shipping, and GREAT customer service. I only wish I had read reviews on this crappy company before wasting $ on a dress that didn't arrive for my event. & "Bree" unless you plan on sending the return label AND refund don't bother responding to this.

Surprisingly nice!
Ordered two dresses, one for a 20's party with stockings and headband, and a second from the 50's selection that was worn for Christmas. The dresses arrived fairly quickly (within the 15-day delivery date window) and survived the trip from China perfectly. The fabric is of better quality (thickness, feel, appearance) than the prices suggested. The construction quality is not great, but for the price it was much better than expected. The true surprise was that both fit without need of alterations right out of the box (or, plastic packing envelope to be literal). Unfortunately, the stockings and headband for the 20's dress got lost in transit. That said, customer service was prompt and satisfactorily resolved the problem. The negative reviews all seem focused on shipping issues. You just have to keep in mind that you are dealing with China, so there are shipping times and (for customer service) multiple time zones you have to take into account. My advice would be to order well in advance of the date you need the garment and, probably, to have a backup plan. But, as far as the products, this is actually a better deal than you would think.

I've purchased two 1950's retro dresses online. One is yellow and white sunflower dress and the other is a blue ruffle cold shoulder dress.
This was my first time shopping online. I've ordered the dresses in April during quarantine. Because of that, I wasn't very sure about the size and I ordered size M insted od S which would fit me better, so I had them narrowed a little around the waist. The blue dress fit me more in the waist, but the yellow was a bit too big.
Perhaps it was because of Corona, I'm not sure, but I waited about 3-4 weeks for them to arive in Texas at my cousin's house. Since I haven't shopped online before, I didn't want to risk sending them to Europe where I live.
When my cousins gave me the dresses, I was amazed by how the color, shape and everything was exactly like in the picture. I knew the sunflower dress was going to be the same color, but the blue one was surprising, it wasn't even a shade lighter or darker than in the picture.
I will probably again sometime in the future order some more. These retro dresses are affordable, unique and stunning!

Favorite. Bathing suit. Ever.
I usually don't enjoy walking around in a bathing suit, but since I received the 2 I ordered from retro suit, I'm looking for any excuse to be in one I love them! Retro Stage are exactly what I expected. The fit is perfect. The material is high quality, well-sewn, doesn't feel like it could be ripped or snagged easily. The style is adorable, and I truly feel cute/attractive when I wear it, which is the most important part for those of us who struggle to feel at ease with so much skin showing. The cut of the bottoms is good: the back didn't give me a constant wedgie. The front covers enough skin that I'm not concerned about my bikini line showing (useful if you've skipped shaving that day). The high waist is perfect for anyone who wants to cover their tummy without wearing a one-piece (stretchmarks, jiggle, C-section scars, etc). I am 5'6", 120 lbs, 32A-34B depending on bra brand, and my suits were Small.

Didn't receive full order. Emailed and no resolution for over 2 months TERRIBLE
Ould return the product within 15 days of receiving it... I FEAR I WILL NEVER RECEIVE IT! Retro Stage literally just took my money. Oh AND I keep receiving auto generated emails from them asking to write a good review for them and I'll receive a 15% discount. I never received my full order to begin with.

I want a refund for the two dresses I have yet to receive: 57.54. I would also like for it to be clear that this company is obviously not based in the US and it's website and address make it seem to be. The obvious copy/paste responses are irritating and frustrating. If this was a US based company this would not be an issue even with shipping from warehouses all over the globe. I don't think that asking for just the refund of the amount of two never received items is to much to ask for.

Cute dress, super slow shipping
After my daughter and I looked over the website several times and found the prices to be decent, I chose to order her a beautiful 1920's style flapper dress. I ordered the dress with accessories on April 29,2020, I finally received my order on May 25,2020.
Retro Stage state in the description that the product will be prepared and inspected by quality control before being shipped. There are several pulled fringes at the bottom and several pulled/hanging threads (photos posted).
The dress is pretty, is lined, and looks nice on my daughter. The fit is slightly larger than described, but not a full size so I would follow the size chart and it runs true to size.
I would HIGHLY recommend if you were planning on ordering an items you do so in plenty of time since shipping takes a ridiculously long time. I was also not aware the item was being shipped from China when ordered and being shipped via DHL.
Not sure if I would order from again. If I did I would make sure I ordered LONG in advance to assure it makes it in time.
Bottom line:
They do have cute items, but they aren't in great shape when they are received and the shipping is long.

Gatsby style dress - simply beautiful
I received my dress (a Gatsby style dress ordered for a cruise) and it's beautiful! I wasn't expecting high end as it was only around $50 but the quality surprised me. For the price, it's fantastic quality! Definitely good value. It fits perfectly too. I would order through this company again.
Delivery was slower than what I normally experience with online shopping. When my order didn't arrive 2-3 weeks after placing it, I checked the online reviews and have to confess to becoming concerned. However, I emailed the company to ask where my order was and a few days later I received a reply to say it was on its way and I received it about 4 days later.
My advice - order well ahead of time, be patient. Don't expect mink if you're buying cheaply, you get what you pay for. And definitely take a look at the Gatsby style dresses. Mine is gorgeous and great value. I love it

Most regretted purchase I have ever made
I purchased four dresses and a petticoat from the site during the Black Friday sale. Reading the delivery estimates, it said that times could vary due to the fact that the items are "made by special technics, do strict quality-control tests and carefully package the items". It took 3 weeks to get to me in Australia, in 3 seperate packages, and I was never updated on the status of the order, I had to send in an email to request the information.

None of the dresses were "carefully packaged" nor were in any way "specially" made. Retro Stage absolutely stunk of cheap chemicals, were an incredibly weak and cheap fabric which felt horrible on my skin, and I had a zip break when I was doing up the dress for the first time (though it was an appropriate size for me). When I put the dress on I still smelt like it for hours afterwards.

Since I had a broken zip, I wanted to complete a refund so I could get my money back, but I was told I would have to pay to ship it back to the US myself (which costs more than the dress did), and therefore was not worth my time. I was instead offered $20 back and a discount for my next purchase from the store (which I will definitely never use).

Also, I can confirm other reports of it being a Chinese company, as every package came from there and the service emails were very poorly written and even linked me to a tracking site in Mandarin.

All in all, I feel robbed and deceived and have not way of getting most of my money back, and I have four dresses which I don't want, one of which is broken.

Very pretty
Bought the burgundy color, as it is flattering to my complexion and hair color. Was not disappointed. A true deep burgundy, which is is a very popular color this fall.
I am just under 5'5" and wear a size 10. The dress fits true to size but even though I have long legs, it is a bit too long on me.
Prefer it to be above the knee, so I will take it to my tailor to be altered. Worth the extra expense to have it shortened, especially since I bought it with my coupon discounts.
As most of the other reviewers stated, this is a very forgiving silhouette. The layers hide a multitude of body issues and I felt pretty and comfortable wearing it. I am 59 years old and not as slim as I used to be. I am body conscious and was happy with how I looked in this dress. It is so lovely.
Some other reviewer mentioned buying it in black. Could not find it in black on the website. If it was available, I would definitely buy! I think it would be the perfect LBD! Hope you wear this dress and feel pretty amazing and enjoy your special dayin the dress and cannot wait to buy more.

I really love the dress itself, and overall had a good buying experience. First of all, I had a great purchasing and customer service experience! Not only was it a great price but I accidentally ordered the wrong size. The customer service was very kind and held my order so that it could be sent out with the right size. Even though this delayed when the package was sent, it still came quicker than I expected.
I loved the dress as soon as I got it! I tired it on straight out of the package and even then it looked lovely. I was surprised at how nice and full the skirt was, even without a petticoat. The material is good too. Most of the dress is made of a cotton (like most vintage dresses) but the waist ribbon and halter neck tie are made of a silky ribbon material, which adds a nice touch to the dress and glams it up a little.
I can wear this casually and for going out, so it's very versatile. I love the pretty and classic look of 50's style dresses, and this is definitely the best online site I've tried! Will be buying more dresses from here in the future!

Terrible
Overall unimpressed with customer service and dress. Dress took 16 days to arrive and I had to contact customer service numerous times to receive shipping information. Dress had an unflattering fit and looked nothing like the picture. When I asked for refund Retro Stage first accused me of not reviewing their sizing chart before ordering. Then this is what customer service offered me "If there are no problems with the item itself, would you mind that you kindly accept it and how about we refund you US$7 as a compensation? May you give it to your family or friends as a gift? Or resell to others? Is that ok with you? As if you return it back, it will be charged the shipping fee. Hope you understand." Looks like others had this same experince. Wish I would have read more reviews first.

Very satisfied!
I ordered the "Black 1950s Plaid Swing Dress" - it is actually a houndstooth print, and I also bought the long black petticoat. I love it, it fits perfectly and looks just like the picture - but I think the petticoat is really necessary to properly pull of a swing dress. I also think the quality of the dress is as one should expect, no defects, looks like picture, etc.

Whenever I order clothing I alwayd look at the size chart because sizes are never the same for all makers. I never look at the ones that show US equivalent sizes (I'm from the US) - because AGAIN, clothing isnt the same for all makers.

USE your CURRENT body measurements (bust, waist, hip) - and out of those measurements go with the largest one. Example: my hips measured at their size XXL, my waist at their size L, and my bust at their size XL -- I chose the XXL because then it wiuldnt be tight in any of the areas. When I say current measurement, I mean, tae your measurements before you click on a size. Your body measurements can change over just a few months so you want recent.

Their site said it would take 10-15 business days to ship (that means you dont count weekends) - it arrived here on the 10th business day - so shipping was just as Retro Stage said.

The dress and petticoat both go just below my knees (I am 5'3"). The dress material was a bit stiff, felt like they starched it - I think it'll be less stiff after I wash it a couple times. The fabric of the dress is a little bi stretchy, so I probably could have gone with the XL but I didnt want a tight fit.

I emailed them a question about proper care, they replied promptly in the next business day and answered my question.

Overall I love my dress, its just as advertised and the shipping was as expected. I will be buying more dresses in the future.

Terrible. 0 stars.
My dress arrived on 04/03. I ordered it on 09/02. Just over 3 weeks ago. The delivery time is too long. Let's also take into account that it was shipped from China and I live in China.

I didn't even receive a tracking number until 27/02. More than two weeks after I ordered it. The tracking number didn't even work!

The dress is poorly made-lose threads and bad stitching and it doesn't even fit! I ordered an XL. This is M at best. I ordered this as a treat to myself; to cheer myself up in the wake of the CoVid-19 considering I can barely leave my apartment. This has left me annoyed, angry and disappointed.

I am extremely dissatisfied. The customer service was extremely unhelpful, too. I emailed on 18/02 asking for an update and Retro Stage said I'd receive an update soon'. I then emailed again on 26/02, telling them if I didn't receive an update soon' I'd be cancelling my order. Surprise, surprise! It was only then that I received a tracking number. Which, by the way, never even worked. So I emailed again and they said wait 2-3 business days' (by the way, it still never worked).

When I finally received the package on 04/03, I had all of the problems listed above. So I again emailed customer service demanding a replacement or refund. Here's the kicker (and I'll C&P the full email)

"There have 2 ways, please check which one you prefer:
1, What about I apply 5 dollars refund and a 10% off discount code for your next order, you keep the item, No need return?
2, You can return back to get the full refund.
I have to remind you that The cost of return will be paid by yourself. I will apply for the refund for you after we receive the package.

Please provide me the tracking number of your return parcel. No tracking number, No refund. Please understand."

So, I can either receive a discount code for a company I will never use again, or I can pay my own shipping and provide a working tracking number (like they never did) to return the product? Bearing in mind that it's a challenge to get the the supermarket right now considering CoViD-19, never mind a post office?

Long story short. Over priced. Low quality. Slow delivery. Terrible customer service. Wrong sizing.
