A Nightmare
You can find the cheapest prices but you get what you pay for. And in my case, end up paying way more in the long run! I purchased a control arm that was not of the best quality. What I didn't expect was that when the CA broke it snatched a loose my entire axle as well as other things underneath the car. A part that was $70 cheaper end up costing me $500 more! Getting a person on the phone impossible. Eventhough I begged a supervisor to call RockAuto refused. All they would do was answer questions. Bottom line they would only refund the control arm. Not the axle, berrings etc. And the ONLY way they would refund the CA was if I followed a list of instructions that read like a treasure hunt! I couldn't understand why they just couldn't get copy of receipt, picture of damaged part. But they requested the part back and all kinds of copies. But I don't have a copier machine at home and in a pandemic it's not easy finding non-essential businesses. Rockmart would send a different complaint number with form each time you request refund but the form would expire within a day so by the time I get to FedX to run off form and send back funky control arm, the damn form expired and I gotta start process of requesting refund thru email all over again. I contacted BBB for help so they would resolve matter over the phone and stop the email tag-around the rosy but they didn't care about BBB they don't want to give you your money back when their products fail so they make it as difficult as possible. They say it wasn't their products but they should stand behind their stuff. It is their name that people know and trust. But they will not. I should be able to sue RM for all the extra damaged caused to my vehicle but in the end I threw the arm away because I couldn't stand the thought of looking at something that caused me so much problem. When my car broke down it was my birthday and I was on my way to celebrate so my entire special day was ruined. Then because of all the extra money I paid I couldn't even make up the day. The cost and expenses set me back a couple of months. So myemory will forever be destroyed. I had purchased items from them in the past and as long as nothing went wrong every thing was fine. But business don't always run perfectly smooth and when mishaps happen they should stand behind their stuff and treat customers fair. I will never ever order from them again. I will pay extra and order from a reputable shop where I can talk to people or walk inside a building to voice my concern and resolve issues.

Great Prices, Great Service, Easy Navigation through Catalogue
I have bought several parts from RockAutoParts.Com and could not me anymore satisfied. The prices were superior to the big name discount sites and local stores. I bought parts for my 2008 BMW 528I and my 207 Nissan Quest. RockAuto arrived ahead of schedule. The surprise was that the parts that came were original MFG parts. Not knock offs or Aftermarket. Prior to ordering I contactedthe dealers as well as two or three other Auto Parts Stores and check prices and product manufacturer. I find that except for the dealers (whose quotee are usually for the very Rich or the very ignorant) the parss are made by the same manufacturers. Navigation for parts is excellent and if you know what to order, you will make a purchase. On two separate occasions I find it necessary to contact Costomer Service and was successful in doing so. I pay with PayPal and my issue was (Merchant Authentication Issue) with Paypa, l not RockAuto They are also very helpful by giving me suggestion on how to resolve this situation with Paypal.

Therefore; the only comparison that is relevant is the price. Rock Auto is ahead by a country mile.
Caution: Dont be put off by paid or phoney reviews. This company is here to stay if they continue to offer superrior products at superior prices and a dimely delivery. I

Stay away!
I purchased a kit containing rotors and pads for the front and rear of the vehicle. There appeared to be a defect in the bonding material that holds the pad to the metal bracket.

Rock auto was contacted and stated the pads werent covered eventhough it was within 90 days. RockAuto stated the pads were only covered for defects in workmanship, which this clearly was. Their warranty page also stated the parts werent returnable.

I sourced pads locally to resolve the issue as I didnt have the luxury of time to fight with them. Afterwards I filed a complaint with the wisconsin better business bureau to recoup the additional cost incurred to resolve the issue which got me nowhere.

Rock auto, after being told i had resolved the issue was generous enough to offer me warranty pads. I stated I had already resolved the issue and no longer needed pads and again asked for a partial refund... I'll give you a guess as to how that went. I mean, I am here posting a review, right?

So I now have some new paper weights and, in the hopes of saving someone else this headache am taking the time to advise anyone who sees this to STAY AWAY FROM ROCK AUTO!

Purchase the parts locally ornamental if you do go online, check that the vendor has a customer service department you can actually call and that they're a reputable company. Rock autos customer care is only accessible via email which is beyond a joke.

Defective brake kits and abominal "email only" customer service
Got stuck on a cold night doing a brake job and the clips RockAuto supplied rubbed the rotors. It was a Brembo kit for my Toyota that they supplied. Verified several times that the right parts were selected by me and sent by them and that I chose the set of clips that had the wider rotor clearance (you have to select from two different sets of clips supplied in the kit). Found out that the clip leg that engaged to the brake bracket was too long, caused excessive binding upon assembly, and subsequently caused the clearance to the rotor to distort and rub upon installation. Found out they only have email customer service, which put me through the wringer trying to prove why the parts were defective. They put me through the task of doing their quality control investigation for them! See the attached photo showing the issue, comparing the edge view of their clip versus the factory parts that came out of my vehicle, which I explained to them in great detail. Finally as I was progressing the return ticket, sending the requested photos after only 3 hours of the last email they sent me, they closed the ticket! Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else that had people you can call on the phone. There's a reason they don't offer customer service by phone, and it's not to save you money as they claim.

Bait and Switch with Rock Auto.
I ordered before form rock auto and understand issue occur, but I ordered and PAID for the left and right lower control arms (Moog brand) and received what looks like ONE Moog lower control arm as advertised. The other was not wrapped up like the NEW ONE, had the accessory bag cut opened and the boots metal seal is missing. Is stamped versus a bolted in ball joint, and appears to be missing the metal seal to hold ball joint grease in?!
After going through their "return" process found that RockAuto tried to play it off as "not all parts are the same but may come from the same manufacturer. BS! The accessory bag, like I stated was cut open, putting grease in it will result in the grease basically flowing out, and yes... I'm dealing with it and using the damn thing because I'm not about to go through a worse situation at this point (returning their part, waiting for refund, OR getting sent another inferior part. I'll figure out and find a metal seal and then NEVER order from this corporation/business again.

Bottom line. Part doesn't even have the same bolt style ball joint set up. It's pressed in, missing the metal seal to hold grease in, wasn't sealed up like the other "true Moog part" they did send for the right side, and the bag was cut open like someone installed something. It wasn't wrapped up and bubble taped like the known good one, AND the box had a hole in it and they put a piece of cardboard in the box to keep the ball joint from poking through?!

Failed Part; Expensive repairs...!
FAILED FUEL PUMP CAUSES INJECTION PUMP TO FAIL. ROCKAUTO'S POLICIES WON'T ALLOW WARRANTY CREDIT AND WON'T COVER DAMAGE COSTS. GOODBYE ROCKAUTO
On January 25,2018 I bought a Rockauto lift pump for my 2001 RAM diesel. I replaced my existing lift pump even though it was working fine because I knew how important the lift pump was for protecting the injection pump. Slightly over one year later their lift pump failed, also taking out my injection pump. The lift pump had been professionally installed. The lift pump cost me $145 (and $130 for installation) but the rebuilt injection pump cost me over $2000. I contacted Rockauto, telling them that their part was responsible for the injection pump failure and RockAuto should pay for its repairs. I basically got a form email back telling me where to file a warranty claim on the lift pump. THEN, later, I found out that since it had been a year my only warranty option was for a replacement pump; no cash, no credit, no nada!
I have bought four parts from Rockauto - and two of them have been defective (the other was a brake caliper). I was pretty grumpy after paying TWICE for the installation of the brake caliper but I am beyond angry at the huge costs to repair damage from their failed lift pump which they will only replace, not giving credit. The most upsetting part of this, however, is the impersonal, unsympathetic way they responded to my situation! I see no reason to purchase anything from them again. Those shops that offer 24 month NAPA parts and labor warranties are looking very, very good!

This company feels a lot like a scam
I ordered a part with expedited shipping. 2 days later I received my order and though the box appeared to be in good shape, the part itself was in pieces. I'm pretty certain RockAuto shipped me an old broken part actually, not even a new one. I immediately packaged it back up and took it to UPS to return. When I got home I contacted them (which was a struggle in itself) letting them know, with pictures, the poor excuse for a part that I received. I wanted them to refund the money I spent on expedited shipping which was only about $17 but I figured since I was going to now have to wait over a week, paying for 2 day shipping didn't make much sense at this point. Without hesitation that assured me that they weren't going to refund me. When I went to reply asking how that made sense, I was notified that my email didn't go through because they closed my ticket and marked it at "complete". When I tried opening an additional ticket, I got no response, they simply kept my money refused to communicate with me. I eventually got a new, non broken part, but never a refund for the shipping which seems pretty scammy to me.

I definitely won't be using them again and would caution anyone considering it to look elsewhere if your priority is getting what you pay for and bare minimal customer service.

Do not order from this site
Ordered brakes for my Honda from RockAuto. RockAuto sent me the WRONG PARTS. I entered in my exact make and model, their computer system apparently made an error or whomever packs the boxes made an error... idk which, but the point is, I received wrong parts for my vehicle. I had to take my car to get repaired because I need it, obviously... so that was a much larger expense than necessary due to the negligence of RockAuto. I emailed and let them know about the issue. They said they'd "make an exception" and do a partial refund. I said ok great. (I put on the front brakes, those were correct. They sent me wrong rear brakes, so those parts went back). So I pay $20 to ship them back! For which they did not reimburse me. And all they issued me is a $50 STORE CREDIT. This was not what they told me at first. They told me I'd get a refund. This was not a refund. I do not want store credit. I will never order from RockAuto because not only did they screw me over, they cost me a lot of extra money due to THEIR MISTAKE and then lied to me and treated me poorly. Everyone makes mistakes. Humans are prone to error. But they had a chance to make it right and chose not to. There is no manager to talk to. There is zero customer service. These people are crooks. I'm now out a few hundred bucks- plus the $20 in shipping, plus the $50+ they're holding hostage with their "store credit". Why would I ever risk ordering from here again? Why would I ever want a store credit here? Do not waste your savings account or risk your safety ordering from this place. It says right on their website, no refund unless it's our mistake. ITS YOUR MISTAKE! I've had this car for 15 years, pretty sure I know what parts it takes and didn't order wrong ones. I want my money back.

TERRIBLE customer service
I ordered a number of items from these guys the night before and realized that some of the items I ordered were not needed. The next morning I attempted to get a hold of someone, which apparently you can't do over the phone anymore, and was only able to send an email for their "customer service". After attempting to cancel the order via email the customer service representatives were completely unhelpful and only gave me the read off the screen answer. RockAuto didn't even attempt to pick up a phone and see what the true status of my order was. They told me that the order and already been shipped and I was unable to cancel the order, which was a complete lie. After going back and forth with them I quickly realized they had no intentions of providing actual customer service, so I called both the credit card company and FedEx to cancel my order myself. Which was much easier than dealing with the incompetency of Rock Auto representatives. Myself and my family have ordered parts from Rock Auto for many years and have become extremely dissatisfied with this recent experience. The quality of the service provided has hit Rock Auto bottom. With that there is nothing else to credit this company with anymore seeing as NONE OF THE PARTS THEY SELL ACTUALLY COME FROM THEM. They are a middle man that does nothing except bridge the gap between a buyer and a seller. For being a family owned company they were SIGNIFICANTLY worse to deal with than both FedEx and American Express. Rock Auto has become a joke

NO HUMAN CUSTOMER SERVICE
I was. Was a Rock Auto customer for years, made many purchases over last 10 years. This last experience was the one to award Rock Auto with losing yet another customer. Ordered 2 smaller emissions parts. Both fit in approximately 5"x5" box. Paid extra for faster shipping as I needed. Both showed in 2 days in one box, sealed with rock auto tape, so no funny stuff done by shipper. 2 Ac Delco boxes packed, but one box was empty. How someone could pick up/ handle a box and not know understand that it's empty is mystery itself. Years ago you could call and get problem figured out. NOT ANYMORE. RockAuto almost proudly announce on the phone that they keep prices so low by eliminating customer service via the phone. Try telling a computer that a box was empty, or to send me another immediately, as I paid extra for shipping. The more I tried, the angrier I became. Even Amazon in their quest to overtake the world has human interaction when you need customer service. That old saying Grandpa always said "you get what you pay for" rings so true, especially with Rock Auto. They seemed to unfortunately decided to take the ultimate greedy road as the choice for how they run their business. Buyer Beware! As long as everything goes good, and your shipment is correct, you will be happy. I was. But when it goes bad, (and it seems it goes bad at the worst possible time) it gets real bad when you are led like cattle into a generated flowchart with general and nonsensical questions that they force you to answer. At the end, you actually got the feeling that they really couldn't care less about your problem. They just want to know if you want to return it, or get a refund. It's a very empty, frustrating feeling. But. It is all in the wonderful name of saving us all money!

Where's my stuff?
May 27th I ordered a brake caliper from Rockauto because RockAuto advertised the fastest shipping time and I can't drive my car until the caliper comes in. I paid extra to have it shipped through DHL so that it would arrive no later than June 1st. I received an email from them on May 29th stating that the caliper had shipped with tracking information stating that it would now arrive no later than June 3rd (even though I paid extra to have it here June 1st). I tried to contact Rockauto by phone on June 1st but you can't call them apparently, you can only send a request. The tracking was finally updated June 3rd and it turns out that the item didn't even leave the warehouse until June 2nd (the day after it was originally supposed to be here and four days after they told me it shipped). The item is now "on hold" in Ohio for some reason and I live in Virginia. Not sure when it will arrive now. It doesn't do much good if they have lower prices but the item takes way longer than advertised to get to you. Doubtful I will use them again if there is any sense of urgency. EDIT: The item arrived on June 5th, four days after they said it would. I changed my review to three stars because the part was as advertised and the core return process was easy with just a reasonable shipping fee. They need to work on their shipping or at least be honest with the shipping date.

DO NOT USE
HORRIBLE customer service. RockAuto have no phone number so you can't actually talk to anyone so everything is done via email. We ordered a set of shocks for a Jeep. The parts arrived with bent coils and the rubber gasket at the top was misaligned. We followed their return requirements by informing them of the defect, took everything to the FedEx store and returned it all in the original packaging. We received a response a few days later that indicated there was nothing wrong with the parts so they were unable to issue a refund. They stated that if we paid for the parts to be returned to us, we could have them back, otherwise, they would dispose of them within 5 business days. Why would they dispose of parts that aren't defective? When we argued this point, they responded and said that the boxes were damaged when we shipped them back and the original boxes weren't returned to them. We showed them pictures of what we sent back which was all of the original packaging. They then said that there was too much tape on the boxes we returned so they couldn't reuse them. When we tried to respond again, the email was blocked stating that our order number had been closed and no further correspondence was allowed. SERIOUSLY? We will NEVER be using Rock Auto again. Buyer beware!

Overnight - They mess up - Poor Customer Service
To whom it may concern:

There is a reason I ordered the part overnighted! I am leaving on vacation on Wednesday June 22nd early in the morning. Expecting to receive my part on Tuesday June 21st. It is 6:48PM and I checked the tracking status and RockAuto have on there delivery by 6PM on Wednesday. You will notice that I ordered the part on Saturday June 18th!

I did not pay $28.00 for overnight shipping only to get the part on Wednesday. I will be gone for a week and must suffer the consequences in my vehicle for a long drive and a long week!

Please refund the overnight shipping charges minus the standard shipping charges.

Your response will determine how I rate you on every internet site I can find. I actually saw a TV commercial for your business.

I cannot express how disappointed I am in not getting the part in time.

Hello,

I apologize- it appears our warehouse was one day late in shipping your package.

We will refund you the difference between the shipping method you paid for (Next Business Day at $27.99) and the shipping method you will end up receiving (2 Business Day at $15.99).

This amount would be $12.00. We will refund your original payment method within 3 business days. We will email you when the refund is issued.

For further information, please see our Help pages.

RockAuto Customer Service

Hello,

We're sorry that the warehouse shipped your order one day late, so delivery is being made in two, instead of one, business day. The Standard shipping method (Ground) which you noted would not have made it in two business days as transit was from CA to NC. We will refund the $12 difference between the next day service which you paid for, and the two day service which you will receive, as delivery should be today.

Thank you,

Chris P.

Correct part number incorrect part
This blows! Now more than ever I depend on rockauto RockAuto fail me twice! I'm doing my share of stay at home keeping me and you safe. Sooo I order my parts for a simple straight forward brake job on my 2015 dodge charger it has 14.5 rotors in front I received all my parts in semi fashionable time. What were supposed to be my raybestos 14.5 rotors were not! They were 8" 4 lug drums, not even close! So I go thru the lame online nobody to talk with n vent my frustration my concern I want my 14.5 rotors!. Ok so return for the correct part is my request another freakn 5 days of waiting great! Today Saturday yes parts are here weather is holding awsome! Open my rockauto box OMG the same freakn! Garbage drums AGAIN! WTF! FU rockauto thanks for getn a simple order wrong twice! Waisting my time n not one of u Fu@##%% can pick up a phone to hear me! Oh best of all I get charged 25.00 for a return label because I refuse to ask for a return for correct part again. You know play the wait n see if its correct this time! Thanks for nothing! Fail Fail Fail Fail Fail FAIL! I tryed not to sound angry, frustrated, taken not easy! Corporate America if I could I would take you Down u dont deserve what u have what we have let u have! Signed Elliot!

The Good, bad, and ugly
The good. Have used rockauto several times. I have always received the parts on time or earlier and RockAuto were as expected, dirt cheap compared to locals and were the right part. Their site is easy to use and parts are very well described and many options are available.
The bad. This last shipment was a horror. Not all rockauto's fault. I order a water pump, a fan clutch, a ckt position sensor (verry cheap), and radiator hoses U/L. The fan clutch was in right box but part was wrong (stamp on part different) not RA's fault. The CKT was right and very well priced. The waterr pump heater tube was against the alternator hard and was not acceptable as it would work loose and leak. The lower heater hose had a bend that was too shallow and rested against the a/c condenser which would rub a hole in it. To their credit this hose was the same at all three major auto part stores with the exception of NAPA who had the right hose at twice the price. And RA gave me credit without returning the hose. Great. The water pump and clutch were returned with them giving me a "paid" shipping label which I consider a big plus to their credit. I will have to wait and see if I get credit for the returned parts but I am optimistic so far that it will happen.
The Ugly. Well, I paid extraditing shipping to get my ride back on the road and of course this shot that to hell I had to buy local parts to get it going which of course cost more though not that much more if you consider all of these problems. I would still definitely use RockAuto because despite these issues they made good up til now. The biggest black eye is they have absolutely no number to call or live chat to communicate with to get the ball rolling which is why I went local for the parts. Their only number is a corporate number which is a joke.

Rock Auto Blocks any Communications with Customers
I purchased a set of 2 TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Stems) about $30.00 each. I had recently paid the dealer $90.00 each for 2 TPMS stems. I thought great deal! I checked My GM part number and cross referenced with the alternate OEM Part supplied by Rock Auto. The stems were installed but RockAuto were leaking where the stem mounted on the rim. I ordered another set from Rock Auto, then got ready to return the original ones purchased, and after I had gone thru the process of getting the RA (return authorization. The message popped up the items were not returnable because the products purchased were the wrong products for my vehicle. I HAVE PROOF IN WRITING FROM BOTH ROCK AUTO AND MY DEALER THAT I ORDERED THE CORRECT PART. THERE WAS NO WAY TO COMMUNICATE THIS AS THEY DO NOT TAKE PHONE CALLS NOR DO THEY HAVE A CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, OR AN EMAIL ADDRESS WHICH YOU CAN COMMUNICATE.

BOTTOM LINE THIS WAS A RIP OFF AND A WASTE OF HARD EARNED $60.00 PLUS THE EXTRA COST OF DISMOUNTING AND REMOUNTING THE TIRES A SECOND TIME.

I am a mechanical type individual. Who once worked Heavy Line at an Oldsmobile dealership. I am a rancher who has too many pieces of equipment to ever have everything working in top order, so part ordering is nothing new to me.

Please be aware there are other alternative on-line parts stores out there.

BUYER BEWARE!

Parts have been borderline. Customer Service: Non existant
For what RockAuto are and what they do, they are mediocre at best. Understand that they are not even knowledgeable about what they sell, they just sell stuff. The parts I have gotten have always been the correct parts, but I do my due diligence to cross-reference part numbers via many different sites. I do this not only for part fit, but for pricing also. Some times I have gotten parts that were obviously returned products from big chain stores due to defects (Broken brake bleeder in a brake caliper twice. Broken studs or missing nuts, etc... nothing that couldn't be repaired easily enough), Sometimes they may need some tweeking, shaving, or adjustment to fit right (body panels, interior switches, cosmetic things). All of this is the same thing I find with Amazon, Carparts.com, partsgeek.com, etc... So nothing astonishing. The Customer service is the main reason I will not shop there, and have not for the past 4 years. You cannot get in touch with anyone, and the customer doesn't matter. Except for Amazon, and very few other places similar to RA, you will pay shipping to return these things. Most times, you will be better off using them as a conversation piece to warn others of dealing with them. I have that wall of shame. Most of the parts have worked well and have lasted just as long as paying over double the price locally. Use cautiously and do your own homework to verify the proper part numbers, RA is not the only place selling these brands. They only sell things, they know nothing about car parts whatsoever! And that would be why they will not talk to anyone that does.

Cheap company, rips you off, misleading advertising of parts
Bought part number *******3340, a bmw 540i 1997 waterpump. One pictured on rockauto was this one exactly. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6621592&cc=1012453&jsn=5. Their most expensive option by about 40%. Reason I paid this premium is because the one pictured has a metal propeller versus the others that have a black plastic one.

Part I got has a black plastic one. I email them saying the part is wrong. RockAuto say they can't issue a exchange because they have none in stock. And offer to exchange for one of black plastic ones and refund me the difference.

I tell them I want a complete refund and to keep my water pump. Because I had to get this installed and my car running by this weekend, on top of that this is the 3rd time in less than 4 months that I have gotten wrong parts or parts that broke after a short time and had to exchange.

The other issue I have with rockauto is that they never list country of origin of their parts. Yet when the part arrives, on the invoice it clealy states country of origin. The previous parts I bought were american companies, made in, you guessed it China. How nice is it when you order a part and open it up, and instead of made in america, says china. This latest part, the water pump, supposedly made by Behr a German company, is made in Italy.

So I paid a premium price for a made in italy waterpump with a plastic propeller that will probably disintegrate in a few months. I can't get even a metal one from rockauto because that was the last one they offered. Never using rockauto again. Shady made in crap country scammers that send wrong parts and defective parts all the time and expect you to pay for return shipping and not even be compensated the time lost. Despicable.

Rockauto had one chance to give me customer service. They asked for my VIN, origin part number, and the wrong waterpump part sent. And say they will investigate. I sent pictures of them all. Not 5 minutes passes when some other representative not familiar with my first email, messages back saying you can return it and get store credit but I have to pay for return shipping. Basically a generic response.

Obviously not investigated. Never bothered to read my first email or even the first rockauto representatives email asking me to provide the aforementioned information to them to investigate.

Pathetic

Horrible! Need I say more
I am a independent shop and have utilized rock auto at times as to save customers a bit of cash. I have used them 15-20 times in the past. Until this last order I was fairly pleased. The latest victim is a 2008 Silverado w/ 5.3 AFM. Purchased lifters, trays, gaskets, AFM manifold and bolts. If I gave the lifters 2hours of run time would be a huge overshot. Initially had one collapsed lifter, after replacing all lifters now I have 11 of the 16 collapsed, and 4 of 11 sheared the pin holding AFM lifters together. So... the lifters fail, take out 4rockers, multiple pushrods and obliterate the lifter trays. The horrible customer service is returning the lifters and I bought a better set and paid out the ass for next day delivery. It's been one week and I still haven't received the new lifters and the asshats with customer service keep telling me that it's fedex fault, but the tracking number deems the package was never sent to the carrier. Oh I forgot to mention that I work for a large government company that delivers mail. So I know for a fact what their saying is bull$#*!. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. Their return policy is bull$#*!, will not refund money, and say RockAuto can't do anything about the parts failing and causing $5-600 more damage. Wtf. This was a $1500 1day job initially, now I'm in this thing for almost $3000 in parts and labor and going on 20 days because they can't seem to get me the GD parts that I paid for and now they're telling me they will not accept a labor claim, nor refunding the $$ i paid for overnight shipping. If I had this many complaints about this particular manufacturer, I wouldn't sell their parts anymore because they suck. Definitely looking into seeking retribution
