Not Unlimited Back to Throttling,
Although their standard response will be "We're sorry that certain specific books are temporarily unavailable to you right now...". The truth is that Scribd will throttle you after one audiobook. I started to read one book, downloaded others but never read. Today, for the s3cond month in a row they DELETED the books from my device remotely and I can only access them the day after they get another payment from me. I cancelled last time when they started this and was stupid to believe they had changed, They claim to have an unlimited service. They do not. They offer a few cheap, old and publicly available books unlimited and the rest are 1 or two a month. Just saving a book to read later counts against you.

They refuse to admit to how many books you are limited to and frame it like the publisher has limits. It's not true. My sister could log in and access the books but because I had listened to one audiobook, I could not. Each time, the books are miraculously available the day after I pay them again and I have to redownload after they process the payment. This is false advertising. Their responses on here claiming books are unavailable to you for any other reason than money are false. This "unlimited" shtick was a ploy to bring back everyone who left after their last escapade. Now I read their was a data breach at the end of November and "only" our usernames and emails were accessed. ONLY?! You can't tell the truth about unlimited books and I should trust you on that?

In addition, they remain in violation of the court settlement for blind readers. Their app and website are still unusable more than a year after the deadline. They could easily work with publishers and the NLS and maybe even get credit or a write off ala book share with publishers by allowing the blind access. Nope!

The bottom line? Do not buy the bs. If you have, cancel and run from this company. Go and use your local library and Libby or overdrive. It's free, has prompt honest service you can depend on.

Horrible, horrible customer support - absolutely detestable and loathsome.
So, a month or so ago, I subscribed for the Scribd free membership trial, thinking that I might need it. In the duration that I had my free trial, I looked up only one book for some research work I was doing. I was informed via notification when I signed up for the free trial, that I would be charged money if I continued with my account from 5 November onwards (when my free trial ended, and my first paid month began). I was sadly mistaken - Scribd, when compared to other sites, is utterly useless. Today is 5 November, 2019. I just got a message around an hour ago ago, saying that I have been charged INR 636.16 from my debit card, for the Scribd membership. I was not asked if I wanted to continue, or informed just before this happened, that it was about to happen. A warning beforehand would have been nice. I would have cancelled my membership immediately, before the amount could have been deducted from my account. My money has been deducted from my account without my explicit and express permission. Regardless, since I have not used Scribd services for the paid month that begins today, I have spent the majority of the past hour, trying to get a refund by contacting Scribd support, but every time I press the link to do so, I get a notification telling me that I must verify my account by activating the link Scribd has sent to my registered email account, which I will receive atmost within ten minutes. I have pressed the resend button multiple times, and gotten no link - and its clearly been more than ten minutes. I tried changing my email address thinking that that might work, but it has been to no avail. I still have not received the link. I have not used Scribd's services and I want my money back. I want it back immediately.

Cant believe I've paid so much to these people
Essentially I loved the service. I thought it was a neat way to introduce readers to many different authors (not just best sellers) and essentially transform reading for their members. Since I initially started years ago, there have been many changes including adding audiobooks and giving credits for both e books and audiobooks... lucky me, I'd always check audible before actually using a credit because there are a lot on there Scribd want you to pay for that would otherwise be free or cheaper on the web...( I would list more changes but there's too many).

The main issue I'm having now is support for one. Almost and entire week and I haven't gotten a response. I've got 2 tickets open, multiple messages and screenshots.

I noticed my account had been paid monthly without fail... but I wasn't even using the Scribd service. I didn't necessarily fret about this initially, as I knew my account was accumulating credits. Well the credit accumulation changed (grrr) but dealt with it anyway... Until I started noticing the minute my auto renew payment did not post I lost my credits.

I contacted scribd before and was given 1 credit. Ticket closed? Next I had maximum credits for both audio books =3 and e books =8. My plan was set to bill January 7th and was paid. Not only once but twice (somehow) on the the morning of the tenth I went to my account and bam all credit brought down to entry level. There policy states that multiple measures are taken before that happens.

1. An email (not received) stating there's was problems with renewing giving you a reminder. 2. There were supposed to be multiple attempts to collect payment and renew service, one beginning a few days after initial attempt. Neither of these were done. By the morning of January 10th they were all gone.

Now I'm wondering how often did this happen? As I'd been too busy to pay attention. I know what you're thinking? Why didn't you just cancel?

Well I would have cancelled... way earlier except you lose all credits if you do. Keeping you in a cycle... I would assume that since you paid for the darn credits you should keep them, regardless of whether or not you want to continue their service the next month. YOU PAID FOR THEM! (Besides at the rate I was going I needed a few months just to catch up and use my credits!)

So I stayed, again not having time to look at this as close as I should of... I just kept it. In hindsight I think the company secretly hopes for these kind of situations. Now here I sit... no one has contacted me, they've had my money all these years and I have no idea how much I essentially received and how much I've paid for nothing. I am owed in the least all of my credits back, or all of my money back. It would even be good on them to give me 2 free months for all of my hassle and allow me to catch up.

So disappointed!

Unlimited is not really Unlimited
My kids and I love audiobooks. We have used Scribd for years. When Scribd switched to a credit service, we were disappointed at first, but as they expanded their offerings and we were still able to access several titles without using our credits, we continued to enjoy the service. We were beyond excited when Scribd switched back to unlimited this year. For the first few months, things were great. However, as summer has progressed, the service has gotten more and more frustrating.

We often listen to series of audiobooks through the day. Several times, we've had to wait until our monthly subscription renewal to continue a series. Since we had listened to several books those months, I completely get the throttling. Until
Now. We are half way through one particular series in July when we had to wait until 8/11 for the next book. Got notification that it was available but we were actually listening to book 2 again finished book 2 8/17 and went to start book three. Now it says it won't be available until 9/11. Contact support and I'm told I'm not being limited, they are just popular titles (considering I had to dig around to even find them, I doubt that). No explanation as to why the book was available for me on 8/11 but now it won't be available until 9/11.

Had this happen in June and July with a 40 year old book also. Yep, the book is so popular it is made available and then taken away since I didn't read it right away. Funny that availability date is always based on my subscription renewal. We will give this a few more months and if things continue going downhill, I'd rather be limited to one credit title a month on Audible than not able to access anything I want to read.

SCRIBD charged me for half a year
I'm on week 3 of no resolution and I'm frustrated to tears. No matter what I do, my voice is not heard. I'm a college student that lost my job during covid. I've used all my savings to take care of my family, what little money I have, I need. I signed up for a free trial to look at one book related to a school project and I cancelled the subscription afterwards, or so I thought. Then I become sick and did not closely look at my credit card bills. I never got any emails asking if I wanted to be subscribed and no reminders. In all the months I was subscribed to scribd, I only got one email that looked like a spam email asking to rate my satisfaction with Scribd. There is no mention in this email about being signed up for a subscription. To my horror one day, I noticed a billing for scrubs and I think, what on earth is Scribd?! Scribd has been charging my credit card for months and refuses to refund me these months of an unused subscription. The customer service person told me that Scribd can see that I never accessed the site. They refunded 1 month but I need all my money back. A multi million dollar company took what little money I have and won't give it back. They offered me a free trial and did not make it clear once you took advantage of the tree trial and unsuccessfully unsubscribe that you were in fact subscribed. No emails were sent notifying my that I was subscribed. They then made a policy in which they refuse to refund your money.

HOW THEY TRICK US! LIARS. LIARS. LIARS!
I'm sharing here the email response I have received from Scribd after ONE week of correspondence! I wish other people know how miserable their way of dealing with a client's refund is and this to be a warning for others before ever aproaching Scribd! Was contacted by Sarrah, Jerry, Jason. Whoever does the job, the deal is simple - to get you distracted to drain your energy, so eventually you give up! The response comes from *******@scribd.zendesk.com where ZENDESK is an ironical title for not the nicest place to work, as I can imagine by the customers reviews.
Scribd HAD LIED and blamed it on subscription with another email of mine done on May, 26th, 2018.
THIS IS PARADOXICAL because the email Scribd quote (with additional "S" in the email address) was created by me just on November. 6th, 2018 and I HAVE APPROVAL by googlemail for it.

THIS IS CALLED FRAUD! I SIMPLY DON'T GRASP HOW THEY ARE ALLOWED TO EXIST AND SUCK MONEY FROM PEOPLE IN SUCH CRUEL AND INVENTIVE WAY!

Hello...,

I apologize for any confusion here. It appears that you purchased a subscription on May 26,2018, using the email address *******@gmail.com (additional "S" in the email address), in order to read/download Aleksandar Imsiragic - Knjiga Vladarstava u Astrologiji, Aleksandar Imsiragic Tajne stepena zodijaka and Brak - Kepler Predavanje. This was not a one-time purchase, but instead a recurring month to month subscription.

Per our Refund Policy I've refunded your recent charge and canceled your subscription. Your account should be credited within a few business days. Your free Scribd account will remain active, and you'll still be able to read and share documents on our website, and use Scribd's many other free features.

Should you decide to purchase a subscription in the future, you can cancel it at any time through your Account Settings. When you cancel your subscription, we'll ensure it remains active until the end of the current time that you've paid for, but will not bill you again. We have more detailed instructions in our help topic, "How do I cancel my premium membership?"

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if there's anything else we can do to help. Have a great rest of your day!

Best regards,
Jason S.

UNAUTHORISED CREDIT CARD CHARGES
Scribd got away with charging my credit card for 5 months before I noticed it. Luckily the credit card company was able to get Scribd to refund my money. The problem is I never signed up for their service in the first place. Company like this make millions off charging unsuspecting people.
It seems that we buy something on one website not knowing that it has a sister company that will take our credit card information and charge us for services we never ordered. The most common trick is when we go to checkout and buy our merchandise, in the checkout area the company has a box pre-checked with small print next to it tricking us into signing up for something we don't need or want. I'm so tired of these scams on unsuspecting consumers. There needs to be a detailed Federal Regulations preventing this type of consumer scam by companies. I remember years ago T-mobile did the same thing to me; adding charges for things I never ordered. Because of what Scribd did to me I now use prepaid service for my family through Total Wireless. This way I can avoid fraudulent charges since it is a paid in advance service. Scribd Inc is just another rip off corporation scamming innocent consumers.

Duplicate Accounts
I subscribed to Scribd back in 2014, and really enjoyed the service. Until a couple of months ago, that is. In July 2016, I was prompted to switch my account to a yearly subscription instead of monthly. Considering it would be cheaper overall, I did it. Little did I know that instead of allowing my current account to continue as a yearly subscription, for some reason it created a duplicate account and I was continued to be charged the $8.99 a month. In August, I canceled the monthly subscription, with the logical assumption that the yearly subscription would kick in. It didn't. Now, not only can I not access my account - it says my account is expired - I can't get any help from anyone at Scribd. I have been back and forth with Diana R. And getting no where. She told me that since I purchased the service through iTunes that she couldn't help me. So, it appears that I am going to be out not only the $84.99 I paid for the yearly subscription that is technically active, but also the $17.98 for the two months I was double charged. I haven't given up, and if this gets resolved, I will come back and update my review.

Beware Of Contract Terms
I accessed Scribd to download a repair manual that I thought was under a trial period but forgot to cancel and ended up paying a monthly fee for almost 3 years that cost me about CDN$430. My fault for not checking into those deductions earlier but later thought Scribd were related to a cell phone contract. I did not receive any information or notice from the company during that time and certainly did not access the service after the first time. Something to be aware of.

"shady as hell, solid support team"

4/13/15

Update: a while ago I posted a review, I tried to set up a one-month account but it was set up as a yearly account that charged me monthly, then I couldn't delete my account.

Well, I contacted their support email line, my account was cancelled, the extra charges refunded, and I haven't been charged again.

So either their support... read more

Scri

Bait & Switch! NOT Unlimitted As Advertised!
Scribd advertise Unlimited but as soon as they see your interests, especially in series books, Suddenly the books become "unavailable" until whatever your next payment date. When I contacted them I was told it was coincidence, then in the second communication the CSR said that they rotate their books, in the 3rd round thr rep Finally came as close to Admitting it as they could by saying "Well, some may think its limited but it depends how you define Unlimitted". I canceled and said that Unlimited Means Without Limit! The next day I got a message that my Canceled account was given a free month. Nice try, but No Sale!

UPDATE: I Did contact customer care and after 3 exchanges your rep Finally admitted that some may not see your practices as Limitted, "depends how you define Unlimitted" is how she put it. News Flash! Unlimited gas already been defined and it means Without Limit... apparently not to companies looking to bamboozle the public.

I also have a problem Paying for a service that Pads their library with FREE LibriVox books & other Public Domain books. And then to tell me I have a free month credited to my account is ludicrous considering I would have to resume my membership. That is Not "Free" if I have to auth ScribD to charge my card. And after the numerous complaints about ScribD continuing to charge after cancelation, I am Not likely to trust ScribD with my authorization. I'd have to be an idiot to do so, especially after being scammed on the NOT unlimited Bait n Switch, the Attempt to Redefine Unlimited,, and seeing the Horrible reviews. My only regret is that I didn't check reviews Before I bothered with ScribD. But I will Warn everyone I can to check reviews first

Started charging my account twice a month, and I never signed up. You need to read this.
TLDR: Scribd stole my money and I had to cancel my Debit Card to stop their charges.

Scribd.com has billed my PayPal debit card 2 times a month for 8.99 each since December 2015. My PayPal card is linked to my checking account. I have no idea what this company is. I tried logging into my account on their website to investigate, with the usual password/username I use online, and they don't even have my email address listed in their database. (I tried using the "forgot password option. And it said my email address was not associated with an account in their system).

I never gave this company my credit card information. I assumed it must have been tied to my iPhone account, but I never installed their app. I did a search of my GMail history, which I rarely delete, for Scribd.com, and there were no results. How they got my credit card information is beyond me.

I have been billed $107.00 as of today.

This is not a question of identity theft, as I have verified with my bank and with PayPal and both said none of my accounts had been compromised.

*EDIT - I had to cancel the debit card they were charging my non-existent subscription to. Paypal fortunately refunded all bogus charges, and is going to report the to the BBB if they don't respond. I only received one email from Scribd support saying they would look into it. All other emails went unanswered.

*EDIT2 - I just received an email from their "support" saying that my PayPal account is not in their system. I sent them screen shots of both my PayPal account and my checking account where funds were taken from both and paid to Scribd.com

Be very leery that they have no phone contact information anywhere on their website, so all correspondence is done through email, and very poorly at that. I did a quick WHOIS lookup for Scribd.com, however, and found the following contact information.

Registrant Name: Stephen Veiss
Registrant Organization: Scribd, Inc.
Registrant Street: 333 Bush Street, Suite 2400
Registrant City: San Francisco
Registrant State/Province: California
Registrant Postal Code: 94104
Registrant Country: US
Registrant Phone: *******890

When calling the number listed here, it states, basically, that "We do not have phone support" and redirects you to their website.

Here is the link to the Better Business Bureau's website on this company:

Be sure to read the section "Complaint Breakdown by Resolution"

I cannot believe that Scribd.com has not been involved in any litigation, as I'm reading more and more on how this has happened to other people.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Fraud activity by Scribd (scribd.com) between June 5th, 2020 and July 6th, 2020
Invoice ID: *******972660557

1) Do not use the website services and keep yourself away as further as possible
2) Do not register at their website and do not provide any bank cards and/or Paypal accounts details
3) Even if you cancel your free-trial membership on the same/next day, the company will not send you a cancellation number and any emails. You can see on the top of the web page the message "You still have 29 free days left of reading. If your subscription ends, you will lose access to all books, audiobooks, and documents"
4) Regardless of any cancellation the website will charge your bank cards and you should contact to a bank support to cancel the transaction. Because the website didn't provide any cancellation number, you have no chance to prove that you cancelled your subscription/membership.
Also, only after you contact about the fraud transaction either to your bank or Paypal, and do cancellation of a membership request over again, then the website is going to send you just email about cancellation without any numbers.
5) Read books only at reliable website, aka Kindle, Learning Oreily, Apress, Litres.

Scam, disabled person stolen from for over a year without notice
I must have signed up for a free trial over a year ago. So that would be on me even though I don't recall it.

But what is criminal is charging people without ANY correspondence! I didn't know I had an account, if I did I could have used it or cancelled it. But the fact is I didn't know, Scribd didn't send any email about this account, and charged me for over a year without a receipt to know it was going on.

As a neurodivergent person who has serious issues with memory, I rely on correspondence and communication between companies and people I deal with. Scribd has just been cutting my purse strings for over a year, stealing from me from my point of view. I didn't know this account existed. Didn't use it a single time during the 15mo I was charged.

You've taken advantage of me, stolen money I need for medical purposes, and offered no service to me as I've been completely unaware of this site during the entire billing period.

Yes, the world is made for neurotypical people and nobody gives a $#*! about the disabled, I should have noticed my transactions earlier. And this is my general responsibility in the world we live in, but my neurology doesn't lead me to checking transactions often as I rarely use the card on purpose, and have never had a subscription to anything charged to my card like this before. So it was entirely new to have a recurring cost lurking in my transactions. Again, without any email receipts or notifications about the service, new offerings. What kind of business doesn't contact its own members!

Yes, I bear some responsibility. But your underhanded business practice seems by design. I'm shocked. I'll be reporting to my ombudsman, the better business bureau, and using my autistic powers to let every forum, rating and review site know what kind of shady hidden business you run. I will track my work in an excel I've opened and if I ever hear back I can notify these other sites, reviews and persons with how you respond to being called out on bad business practice.

No receipts!?! This will now consume my day as I can't stop myself from beating myself up internally when these kinds of things happen. I hope you got into business to cause distress, because if so you're doing great.

CHEATS! You have to click on 3 quite hidden buttons on 3 different pages to cancel!
I "subscribed" to this service to read 1 single file.
That's all.
I cancelled before my renewal date.
Or that's what I thought.
Then I realised I got still charged.
I cancelled again - or that is what I thought.
We played it a bit until today I figured these cheaters have 3 friggin buttons on 3 friggin different pages you have to go through to cancel.
And Scribd are deliberately misleading you thinking you have already cancelled.

1. button end subscription button:
A new page opens and it says you have 27 days left of your subscription
But behold...
You have to scroll aaaaall the way down to the

2. Button Continue cancellation that opens a 3. Page that asks about feedback. That still does not mean you have already cancelled because you have to click on

3. Button on this 3 page: Submit & Continue

Oh wait there is a 4.! Button on the 4. Page!
They are indeed taking the p. And we should sue them all who got screwed w their subscription.

4. page bottom:
Complete cancellation. (these are not very visible either)

Anyway I did a screen video about this process.
Atrocious!

Who wanna team up against them?

Credit card was charged for services I personally didn't even sign up for
Saw a charge from them on 6/9 (yesterday). Immediately checked my email to see if Scribd had sent me anything as I don't check my email often. Found that someone had registered for an account and obviously had access to my credit card information and email. I am unsure if this is someone I know or don't know but regardless I was unaware of this and did NOT authorize this charge. I didn't even start this account and the worst part is I don't even know how to get into the account since I don't have the password. And I am now being charged for something I personally never even registered for or utilized and cannot even stop.

I want this account to be cancelled immediately as I do not have access to it, did not authorize these charges and most importantly I want to be refunded.

Someone please help as to what I do?

I see horror stories on this site and I'm really hoping I don't have to fight tooth and nail with this company but I will if I have to because this is not even right. I never once got an email indicating that I would even be charged which is what I went into my email to check.

Please tell me how they can refund me... this is absolutely incorrect. I will be contacting my credit card company but am hoping I can resolve it with the company first.

Again, I really don't know who got access to this information and how and am extremely upset about that but more importantly i do not know if it is someone I know or don't know.

Anyone who can help and offer advice would be much appreciated.

I want my money back!
I signed up for a 30 day free trial and loved it, decided to continue with the service. When my 30 days were over I was double charged ($8.99 twice). I figured this was a fluke so I just let it go. 30 days later I'm double charged yet again. I sent them a message, no response. Sent another message a week later, still no response. On the other hand I initially joined because of the "unlimited" amount of audios I could access. Turns out "unlimited" is about 2-3 audios a month then I only have the option of a very limited amount of no name books and classics that don't appeal to me at all. Again, very minimal selection even of these. So I cancelled and proceeded through all these pages (seems like it was 5 or 6) to "confirm" my cancellation. Get into the app today and it looks like I never cancelled. So I went through the process yet again. I'm due to be charged again in 2 weeks if this cancellation doesn't work and I don't want to give another dime to these lying crooks! Scribd still owe me $18 for the 2 months I was double charged! Absolutely DO NOT recommend this for anyone. I will stick with audible. It's more expensive but at least they are honest and their customer service will actually respond to you and resolve issues.

Misleading - Could have been a much better company. Unfortunately now you have a terrible reputation
1. I have read most of the other reviews here and agree with them all.
2. Scribd, you could do yourself a very positive benefit if you A. State up front that what you offer is a streaming service. ( not hid this in you FAQ, and leave it to subscribers to work that out, after you has siphoned off 1 or several months subscription fees. B. Deliver what you advise, simple and clearly if its a free trail, should not require a credit card subscription.
3. For the benefit of others, I will summarize my experience with Scibd.

Took up the 30 day trail on 1 Sept 2017. Noted on same day that the PDF I was searching for was not in Scibd inventory, despite being lead to their site by my search engine, suggesting I would find it there... Unlike others, I didnt provide my CC details, instead, I download the IOS app to enable viewing the catalogue.
Once I confirmed ( on the same day) this site didnt have what I required I reviewed the FAQ and attempted both suggested methods to cancel the subscription ( Device and iTunes, both of which didnt work). I contacted Scribd support team (via email) and explained this to Ben (case number # 1444090) who stated he/Scribd could not do anything, as I didnt subscribe directly with them, but had subscribed via Apple and that Apple had to cancel the subscription. Ben was kind enough to provide a link to Apples subscription. It this time I was over it, I only came back to the topic after noticing subscription fees on my CC. Once reminded of the Scribd subscription, I cancelled via Apple as suggested by Ben, but by this time 3 months had past. Upon cancelling I learnt that I had 9 book & 3 audio credits. Having been charged for these I decided take up the credits, 1 book and 3 audio. As I have limited internet access I downloaded them to enable listening and reading offline. I found it odd that every time I accessed the downloaded content ( with internet disabled) it would respond, stating I was offline and could not access the content. Once I connected and opened the content then disconnect from the internet, I could continue to access the offline content. ( this would suggest that Scribd are conducting an account subscription validation each time you access the offline content, to ensure you still have a paid up account.)
All was working fine until I received a message from Apple advising me that my subscription was to end on 31 Dec 2017. I understood this, as I had cancelled my subscription, as mentioned above) The hook came on January 1 2018, when I could no longer access any content and was being prompted to renew my subscription.
SUMMARY. Poor ethical responsibility Scribd.

Do NOT use this service. It is a scam
Do NOT use this service. It is a scam. Scribd make their revenue by charging people unknowingly when they sign up for free trials, making it impossible to cancel their service, and then refusing to refund you.

Firstly, I DIDN'T GIVE THEM ANY PAYMENT INFORMATION during the free trial. They took money via Google Pay - I assume because I signed up for the free trial with my Google account. I never inputted any card or bank details. What's worse, they failed to give me ANY email notification that I was, or would be, charged.

Secondly, when trying to cancel my subscription, there are actually 4 steps to this. I got to the 3rd step and thought I had cancelled. But no! I have to scroll all the way down and find the tiny text at the bottom of the page to give feedback and confirm.

This business is knowingly deceptive and trying to scam customers out of their money, by both taking their money without consent, and then making it impossible for them to cancel their trial. They now owe me £64.74 which they are REFUSING to refund. I have contacted both my bank and the Trading Standards office.

Interestingly, I am now unable to access my account which tells me that they have closed my account without my consent after receiving my support ticket (#2567408). They will stop at nothing to avoid repaying this illegally-gotten money. Avoid at all costs.

Should have read the reviews before signing up for a "free trial". The trial does not exist.
This "free trial" is a SCAM to fleece you of your credit card details. Once Scribd have those, oh, whoops, look at that, two seconds later your "free trial" has expired and you need to pay now to access the site! -- This is not a glitch; it's a feature. This is how the scam begins.

I have read most of the reviews here on the first page and already a pattern is emerging. This is a fraudulent company that hides behind things like technical difficulties and "duplicate accounts" (? Who is buying this garbage?) to explain why they are charging customers, and continue to charge customers, despite lying through their teeth and providing zero service.

When you try to contact them via the website, you submit your "question" but they don't even take your contact details, so there is no way for them to respond to you. Email them and they hide behind Covid as a reason they can't respond to your queries.

In the end I cancelled my card. Lesson learned, but there's no way I'm giving these scammers a cent so just do it -- cancel your card. Their "cancel any time!" is a big fat lie; know that upfront. They don't make it easy to cancel and purposefully obfuscate the process to make it difficult for you. Just a tip: Deleting your account will NOT stop them from charging you.

Scribd, I'm writing this review mostly because I wanted to inform you (as I've already done via email) that I will be compiling evidence, then submitting, detailed reports to all of the businesses who work with you. I have a lot of time on my hands! Yours is a fraudulent company, regularly scamming and deceiving customers. There is no way you should be allowed anywhere near PayPal, the Apple app store or Google Play. ALL services have severed ties with/refused to support apps and companies for much less.

requestingUS govt to ban this company, typical shady auto-renewal with no notice, no email, phone
Hello , I subscribed for a trial subscription, Start date:6-Mar-2018 -End date5-Apr-2018.
On 5th of April , automatically charged $11.91 CAD. No alerts or emails alerts prior to renewal . I did nt find useful the service so I thought of cancelling the subscription . end of march I got sick and missed to cancel subscription . As there was no email alerts warning customers about renewal . I missed fully . This is the what scribd expect to happen to customers .on April 11th , while checking credit card statement i noticed scribd charges and immediately cancelled subscription and submitted 2 tickets to scribd support ticket #1640310.& support ticket #1640293]. then tried to reach their support phone no . Then only I realized this is 100 % cheating . Scribd dont accept any phone calls . only emails & msg posts . Then why the heck they providing phone no . my 1st ticket one person just marked the case as "solved" no reply nothing . second ticket , one lady replied back saying , they cannot re-fund . because I used . How come . What non -sense is this ? . 30 days it was trial with zero charges . then before charging on 5th april , no alerts nothing . Then when customer cancelled subscription and requesting refund . scribd not even bothered to return money back . Now my money is gone .
Fraud aspect is that , they are charging me for the next 30 days cycle . even if cancel they are not returning money back . Is this company doing this shady business based out of US. I'm surprised .I request people residing in usa, to bring this before officials so people wont lose their hard earned money . I humbly request ,people residing in USA , is stop this fraud happening . This company has no right to say , you used so we cannot refund . Irrespective of whether I used or not used , they are obliged to refund .
