One star docked for image quality and quantity (I would have only taken-off half a star if that option were available) - it would be helpful to have images of the product front, back, and showing the inside lining according to final customizations selected. An image of the jacket on an actual person/model also would have been helpful. Higher resolution images would have also been helpful.
Insufficient.
Was hoping this suit would be on sale during this Black Friday/Cyber Monday time period but it wasn't.
But I'm tired of waiting, been eyeing this suit since last year and it didn't come on sale last holiday season either. So I just bit the bullet and purchased it today.
Aside from my disappointment. Y'all do have a good customization system. Would've like a bit more selection when it came to the buttons and lining but I'm satisfied with what I've selected.
I don't know yet if I'd recommend y'all yet, would need to wear this suit and test it out for that.
Admittedly this is a rocky start, I've spent less on "Luxury" fabrics from other MTM/Bespoke companies: Indochino, Oliver Wicks, Black Lapel.
Here's to hoping y'all blow my expectations outta the water with what I've paid for here.
Here's to hoping.
1. I overpaid by the $15 fee since I did not use the clone option.
2. Even though I had overpaid $15, I was still charged $20 to have the pants lined.
I was told that there was no way for your system to handle a refund of my $15 – and that I was just stuck with paying an additional $20 for the lining.
This seems unprofessional to me. It should be simple to either charge me an additional $5 or to send a $15 refund to my credit card. I've never done business with any company who couldn't easily do this.
I never found quality blazers and tweed jackets in Canada, and never pure wool, and even when I do find something, it is never with look I admire: I admire the ratios of the original suit with strong shoulders, slim waist, buttons slightly down to allow an elegant V shape. Ironically, to get a tailored suit in Canada you will at least have to pay 1000$ vs paying below 200$ to get something way better in quality from StudioSuits.
That's why I will only buy suits and blazers from StudioSuits from now on. I greatly recommend StudioSuits. Keep on the great work StudioSuits!
Studiosuits failed to live up to the promise on their web site and just like many, many other customers of Studio Suits have found to their cost and fraustration (parent company harryfashions.com based in Mumbai, India) they failed to make a suit to the measurements submitted on their slick web site, instead sending me a huge waistcoat and large baggy jacket (perfect trousers and custome shirt! Proof if that was needed that my measurements were good) I honestly thought that they must have mixed my suit up with someone else's by mistake. Not so!
They blame you, even after sending lots of photos to prove that the suit has not been made to the measurements given.
They then proceed to send several formulaic emails from their so called customer service team in India (Paul and Monica) These all follow a the same pattern that hundreds of other customers have experienced. The final email tells you to get the suit altered your self at your own expense as they dont do remakes or returns even when they clearly get it wrong. They do offer you 20% of your next suit you buy, Really! Why would you throw another £300 away on the same risk that they couldnt make the first one right and if this one is also wrong, exactly the same thing will happen again.
I now have a suit that is not fir for purpose, cant be worn by me as it drowns me and is not as advertised or as ordered. You cant get your money back, which is a scam in itself as they encourage three easy payments through Pay Pal, which should provide some reassurance. No! Pay Pal regard it as a custom item so will not do anything. Despite the fact that they failed to deliver the suit you ordered based on the careful measurements you submitted.
Please look deeper at the reviews for this company. I have tried to write several to warn others and for some reason they completely dissapere or get buried with 'Invited' amazing reviews. Read them and you may well pick up that they all seem very similar, make up your own mind about this.
Avoid this disgraceful, dishonrable, dishonest company. It could cost you a lot of money that you cant get back from a company in India where you have no legal prtection whatsoever. I have had to keep this review short as it keeps going missing when I submit it so we will see what happens this time.
The fabric is heavier than any medium weight tweed jacket I've owned. More importantly, it came out of the shipping wrinkly and I've been unable to get the wrinkles out, even after having it pressed professionally. It's also cut very poorly, with big folds around the shoulder area. But for the other issues, I might have paid to try to have it tailored (although it was already almost $200 after taxes and shipping). But it just looks like a crusty rag.
I reached out to them about returning the jacket for the above reasons and Studiosuits were very dismissive.
The website is ok and quite easy to navigate. If you have your measurements right, the suit will fit very well.
The clothes are made in, and shipped from, India. For my jacket, the value declared for customs was $45, which I am guessing is the cost of material. Seeing as the jacket cost me $230, I am saying that's a pretty nice profit margin. However, the jacket is nice enough and it is what it is.
The main issue here is that the company uses DHL to ship. You may not know but DHL add their own sneaky charges to customs fees. Canada customs charged $10 but the fees from DHL were over $30. I only know because my wife had to pay these charges on a package from DHL, where there were zero customs fees. It is a clear scam on the part of DHL.
I refused to pay this, as I am the recipient and had no contract with DHL. After around 6 days and dozens of emails, I eventually found out that I can self-clear the package. DHL were absolute scumbags about the whole process – but that is for another review. As far as Studio Suits are concerned, Studiosuits really dropped the ball on this one.
Their customer service was a nightmare. You write to them and get an auto-generated email back. Then, a day or so later, someone will write with a scripted response that makes no sense and does not address the issue. You write back to that person and get an auto-generated response. A day or so later, someone else writes back with the same scripted nonsense. The cycle continues.
I eventually got someone who answered properly and said they would look into it. Three days passed. I wrote again. Guess what, I got an auto-generated email and a day or so later …
They clearly do not talk to each other or make any notes on your account.
This is why I give them only 2 stars. I am sure that if everything goes well, you would be super happy. However, the mark of a good business is how they react when things do not go according to plan.
And in this, Studio Suits failed.
