Lacking
Received as a gift. Feel bad because my first meal was severely disappointing. So time consuming. I work till 5 everyday and don't get home till after 6, so I don't appreciate recipes that say 20-30 minutes and really take 45 minutes... I don't normally follow recipes. Use spices and ingredients according to smell and experience. I also don't know the words for how to cut things. There is only 1 picture, so, unless you see it in that one picture, you're out of luck. (What does "pieces" mean when referring to a round veggie?) The provided "spices" and herbs aren't enough and salt and pepper are the only recommended additions. The taste was bland. The ingredients didn't equal to 2 portions. Enough beans for 1 portion while too much radichio. (Personal opinion: Radichio as the majority and overwhelming ingredient is disgusting. Needs balance and there was none.)"Cancellation" online just means you suspend your account. Doesn't mean refund. Have to do more work for that. I'm thinking of just forwarding it back to the gift giver as this overall experience is severe lacking. When something that is supposed to relieve stress causes more stress, you know there are issues.

Bad customer service
After I missed the cutoff for the delivery for the following weekend noticed Sunbasket selected food that I don't eat at all I reached out to them five days before delivery to cancel or at least swap the items and they would not accommodate my request. They sent me stuff I didn't want and I did not want to pay for and they didn't care. 5 days is sufficient amount of time for a company to get it together to change a delivery and satisfy a customer but they just offered $20 credit toy account even after I requested to cancel the service and they said that was all they could do. It's very unprofessional and bad customer service. They need to get it together and hire more people to be able to change an order in such advance notice. They are very unresponsive to their emails too. It takes them quite some time to respond. Never will use them again!

Became ill and could not reach anyone who cared
I hate to have to write a bad review about a company. Specifically one that is sustainable. I have to, however, because I can't get anyone at Sunbasket to listen to me, return my correspondence or care. I became very ill this weekend, violently so, after consuming the Lettuce-wrapped burgers with spicy chraime carrot salad. I was unable to reach a person during the weekend and so sent an email - to which I have received no response. Yesterday I called their customer service and was promised a call back. No call and it's a day later. Today I texted customer service and received a response saying that Sunbasket see my complaint and someone will call me. I am very worried that other people are also eating the bad meal (I suspect the ground chicken) and are becoming ill or have already become ill. There seems to be no way to warn other consumers. So far, Sunbasket has not even offered to credit me for the meal. Within a few hours after eating the meal I became extremely dizzy, had diarrhea and vomited. It's taken me several days to start to feel fully like myself. WARNING! If you have a problem, even a serious food safety problem, with this company's meals, no one seems to care. I'm appalled. I couldn't stop my next delivery and am too afraid to eat the rest of the meals I was sent.

Too vegetable-heavy, poor customer service, and what's up with the no salad dressings?
For starters, the first encounter I had with this service is when i attempted to change my payment method to a different credit card before I had received my first order. Although I understand the first payment had already processed, I wished the recurring payment to be billed to a different card going forward. I was unable to change my card on the website, and I went through several tiers of phone customer service only to find out Sunbasket could not//would not help me, either. I instead chose to terminate my service, although I still had that first (and last) delivery outstanding. When I received my delivery of 3 meals, I was very glad I'd gone ahead and cancelled before committing to a 2nd delivery.

All of the meals I received were less than satisfactory. The first one was a salad, but in lieu of dressing they just supplied plain apple cider vinegar. ACV may be trendy, but I've never found that it makes for much of a dressing, even when mixed with one's own oil. I used my own balsamic vinegar instead (in addition to the aforementioned oil). The amount of vinegar they sent, as well as the protein (pancetta), were laughably inadequate for the amount of vegetables. This is nothing compared to the next meal, also a salad of sorts -- no dressing again; instead they just sent a small blop of flavored mayonnaise for an enormous salad. The protein in this alleged bulgogi salad was a huge disappointment, too -- I had thought from the picture that it would be pork strips, but it was ground pork. Not great in salads. The 3rd dish was the best, but again not that exciting -- a small amount of coconut shrimp accompanied by, you guessed it, a huge salad (no dressing). What is the deal with salad dressing? Did it get cancelled when I wasn't looking? Well, huge heaps of raw vegetables taste like crap without it. Plus, eating half a raw daikon (as the 2nd recipe prompted me to do) made my stomach hurt. A lot. In fact, I had a stomachache for the entire 3 days we did Sunbasket. I've tried 7 meal delivery services, and they were the 2nd most expensive, but by far the worst.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE
I received a notification, from Paypal, that I made a payment to Sunbasket. I thought that couldn't be because I skipped each week. I do that regularly. I looked and apparently my skips had been placed back to approved orders. I did not go into my account to change them over to approved orders. So I tried talking to customer service to cancel it and refund the money but Sunbasket gave me several awful excuses as to why I wasn't getting a refund. One of the excuses exposed them as liars. Telling me that I couldn't stop the order because they already started my order but later said that I could change my meals. But if they started my order, how could they change my food? I am going to send a complaint to Paypal and see if they can help.

Quality control sorely lacking
I wish that we could remain with SunBasket but out of 7 deliveries, 3 had issues. The last one has 2 missing ingredients! The one before had a rotten ingredient and the one before had packaging issues with the meat juice leaking. For that one, we were given $15 off. For the second, we were given $5 off. I emailed back and said considering we had to go to the store, pay and prep; $5 felt inadequate. Sunbasket did not respond at all so I canceled but we still had another delivery coming. The meal options are great, organic and the packaging is very sustainably considerate but they are failing on the customer service and implementaion.

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE
I really wanted to like this subscription meal plan, but it was just impossible. I rationalized paying this much for the added value of organic ingredients, but on several occasions those ingredients were either missing or spoiled. Still, I soldiered on because the idea and meals themselves were appealing, and I knew Sunbasket were new and might be going thru some growing pains.
I even accepted that, in fact, the meals are NOT delivered to your door if you live in an apartment. But last night I never received my notification that my delivery had been made. This morning, still nothing. A little research, and I am told it WAS delivered, but I was never sent an access code, so my food is rotting in the mail room, and I can't get it.
I let Sunbasket know. I got an auto-respond telling me to unsubscribe. I contacted their delivery agency. No response at all. $75 for a box that will melt and rot all over my neighbor's packages. Terrific!
I caution anyone thinking of subscribing, don't fall for the hype, pretty pics and empty promises. $75 is a lot to pay for six meals worth of ROTTING FOOD you can't even get to to THROW AWAY!

Update: I NEVER rcvd a response to this directly. But as you can all plainly see, they DO care about review sites, just not customers. They put quite a bit of effort into covering themselves on media, although the problem seems to be clearly illuminated by this response: THEY DON'T EVEN READ THE COMPLAINTS. Answer IN NO WAY addresses the problem of NON-DELIVERY!

SunBasket Doesn't Care
RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY... Run.
First order with the company and everything arrived a day late and warm to the touch. One small icepack in the bottom... Fine I will call them and let them know. First order had a promo code and my order only cost 51 dollars vs 100+ Sunbasket wanted. Well I didn't get my first meal with this company because of the issues.
Called customer service and explained they didn't make it happen.
I explained that I had a coupon and that I would like one of following to happen.
1) Comp my next meals
2) Credit my account on the total paid and reapply the coupon

The Rep told me only the meats are ruined so she would only credit me for the cost of the meat. REALLY? I asked for a supervisor in hopes that she may address the issue. She was no better and couldn't understand why I wouldn't be happen with just paying full cost and never getting the incentive they offered me to join. I told her refund me and cancel my account then. Her attitude reeked of I don't Give a Flip. I told her that I would be writing a negative review and letting people know. The supervisor said that was fine. No concern in the world that you just lost a customer and are getting a bad review for not doing the right thing.
The Takeaway.
1) SUNBASKET DOESN'T care about its customers
2) RUDE AND Dismissive Reps and Supervisors
3) Overpriced
4) Better companies to deal with out there... Don't waste your time... They won't help you when something goes wrong.

Food Not Bad, Didn't Refund 100% from Missing Shipment; Edit: Full refund coming! Thx sitejabber!
SunBasket looks pretty, the meals were good to okay. I was sticking with it. Then a shipment didn't show up. Sunbasket make it difficult to find contact information, and when I did try to contact them I wound up contacting the shipping company instead, which wasn't obvious because the form I filled out was on a SunBasket branded page with SunBasket colors... no reason to think I wasn't talking to SunBasket. Then when I discovered it was the shipping company, I finally located a contact form actually for SunBasket, and told them I never received my food and included a tracking number for proof. They got back to me saying I didn't contact them fast enough so they were only crediting my next order 50% of the money. That smells of a hoodwink a mile away. I am trying to get a refund and close my account, but so far they refuse to refund my money, only credit another shipment.
NOT RECOMMENDED.

EDIT: After my original review, someone from SunBasket reached out to me through ReviewFeeder and quickly resolved my issue with a 100% refund. This person also said they will be looking to make sure the issues that happened to me will be addressed so that others will not suffer a similar fate. As such, I have adjusted my review from two to four stars. I hope SunBasket can make reporting missing orders an easier and more transparent experience.

SHADY! CUSTOMER BEWARE!
My husband and I were once again looking into home delivery meal services. I noticed I had an App already on my phone for Sun Basket and couldn't remember having looked into it before.

I opened the App and signed in to research their menu options. I checked a few options to see if Sunbasket would work with the current diet we are on. Then my husband reminded me something shady re: billing had happened with this company the last time we joined and we cancelled because of it. So I left the App without having hit any final purchase button or without entering any credit card info.

Imagine my surprise when PayPay notified me that they had issued a payment to Sun Basket. It suddenly was very reminiscent of my experience prior and the main reason I cancelled my subscription.

Something is very shady with this company and how they have their App set up (pre-checked food items, that you can change). If you don't plan on being charged for the following week's menu, don't even open it. Once the payment has been issued you can't make changes or cancel. So basically I'm stuck with $62 worth of food that isn't even compatible with the diet I'm on (low carbs). I put in a request to speak with a Supervisor re: why this keeps happening with their App.

Finally, a "Supervisor" messaged me after seeing my review on Yelp, excusing their inexcusable actions (see pic). They still refuse to call me to explain how my account was reactivated by just signing into the App. They also wouldn't change the (supposed) order to include something I can actually eat. Customer BEWARE! The WORST customer service EVER!

Worst customer service. Worst shipping service. The worst part? They have delicious food!
*July 26,2020 - left warehouse for shipping at 2:20 PM *July 27,2020 - out for deliver 1:30 AM
*Delivery hours between 8AM-8PM and usually arrives by 10 AM, but no delivery at usual time so... *July 27 - I signed up for delivery updates at 4PM *July 27 - Computerized chat with Sun Basket at 8:00 PM with horrible chat system *July 27,9:30PM - contacted shipping company *July 27 Delivery arrived at 11:10PM, no text update, no knock. Had the dog not alerted me, it would have sat outside until morning! Today is August 4, and the only contact I've received from SunBasket, even after I sent them a picture of moldy peppers, is a FAKE email as a follow-up to a"phone conversation" with me that NEVER TOOK PLACE. Fantastic food if you have no issues with deliver(probably tied to the roof of a Prius, SERIOUSLY) or if you have no issues with arrival times. I was REALLY HOPING THIS WAS GOING TO WORK OUT. It's the first delivery service we have ever done. I cancelled all future orders.

****August 5,2020 - After reading my review, Sun Basket reached out to me. Sunbasket agreed that there was a glitch in communication and that my delivery, so far outside regular delivery hours, was unacceptable. They handled the problem professionally and in good faith. Sun Basket has so much going for it. I'd be happy to return when I see that reviews show improved communication systems and customer service staff.

A Great Idea Albeit on the Pricey Side
I decided to try this food delivery service on a month trial basis. I figured it would be great to get some new recipes since I had gotten into an uninspired rut. I prefer this service over the others for several reasons: 1 Sunbasket make every effort to support local producers 2 They use sustainable and organic foods 3 They support different food choices- vegan, paleo, and gluten free (I am none of those, but they seem to be great options) 4 The BIG sell- they include a return label for the ice packs, box, and containers so there is no waste! They make this VERY easy to do.

The food. You pick your items for the following week online. The selections change and entrees vary. I have tried several of the menu items and so far they have been all excellent. There is some prep and cooking, but that's fine. If you want it all done for you then you really should go to a restaurant. The price is a bit steep, but compared to a dinner out, it's okay. On average I pay $9.99 a meal (that's for two people, three entrees a week.) At this point, I do not know for certain if this will be for the long term. Time will tell!

Not a great start!
I found out about SunBasket from my sister. She raved about it so i thought i'd give it a try. I ordered the Paleo menu cause my wife wanted meals low carb. We live in Florida so it's freakin hot in August! The temp of my food was a concern. So our first order came on Tuesday afternoon around 4:00pm. I unboxed my food and realized one of the entree's was missing! I called customer service and the guy told me Sunbasket would credit my next order $25.00. The first two meals were good but the produce did'nt look very good afer the first day! I actually went to the store and bought the missing entree and fixed the third dish. I really wish i had'nt! The recipe was horrible. We couldnt even eat it! I'm expecting three new dishes on Tuesday Hoping it will be better! I'll review again at the end of the week.

If this were a restaurant, I wouldn't go back
Delivery was fine and boxes are well insulated with dry ice so the food stays fresh in hot weather. The non-oven direct meals were a bit involved so prep wasn't quick. Ingredients were all good, healthy and fresh, but unfortunately after perhaps 10 meals, I didn't find any that I'm really interested in eating again. It's not that the food is bad, it's just bland and not wildly delicious as Sunbasket advertise. I've had Trader Joe's frozen food which while not as healthy, tastes better. Also had an issue with one of the ice bags leaking from the box onto our wood floor, that's annoying and hopefully it hasn't damaged it.

Unreliable delivery and deceptive practices
After joining I received my first delivery as scheduled. The food was okay overall, although the portions are on the small side. The food is not worth the expensive price tag. Sunbasket have a "default" menu that gets sent unless you make changes. Since I didn't care for any of the selections, I waited two weeks to order again. The next delivery was cancelled "because the box was damaged by the carrier." That week no food arrived from Sunbasket. I gave them one more try, and ordered again two weeks later. I received an email the day before delivery was expected stating they once again cancelled my order due to a "warehouse issue." I got frustrated and totally fed up with them and cancelled my subscription. And yes, their site makes it difficult to find as others said. I received an email confirming the cancellation, but the next day was sent an email stating a delivery was on the way. They sent a default shipment of food I did not want. I then went through the pain of their terrible phone customer service. I called and explained the situation, and the rep hung up on me. I called back and a different rep hung up and called back this time. She stated it was too late to cancel the order, and she could only refund $20. I informed her they had cancelled my order, not me, and I did not agree to being sent a "default" menu. She then proceeded to tell me again, no refund. I could however, dispute the charge with my credit card company. I was so angry by then I could scream. I asked for her to put someone on the phone with the power to refund the full amount. After a few minutes, she said "a supervisor said the full charge would be refunded." I can only imagine how many people they attempt to screw over daily. They are very untrustworthy and unreliable in my opinion, and I would advise people to stay away from this company.

Cancellation in Less that Two Weeks
Had high hopes for Sun Basket, but my first week was on the FedEx truck for more than 13 hours. When we unpacked the box, the ingredients were barely cool. Sun Basket said they'd give me a refund for the spoiled ingredients but I haven't seen it come through. Second order, also on the truck for hours, included yellow and brown arugula and a pear that not only wasn't ripe, it had a worm hole all the way through it. $14 per meal--that includes tax--for 5 ounces of ground beef, an onion, a lemon, and a handful of raisins seemed excessive to me! I canceled right away.

Awful Cancellation Policy
When I was trying to cancel my subscription last week, the only thing I could find on their website to cancel was to send an email to *******@sunbasket.com. I emailed them well before the deadline for the next box to be shipped. I have proof of the email sent, but I never received a confirmation. I then get a notification yesterday that I was charged 78 dollars for a delivery next week... are you kidding me?! Now Sunbasket are saying they won't refund me because the payment was already put through, even though the box hasn't even shipped yet according to the tracking information on the FedEx website. Definitely sticking to HelloFresh after this whole thing... it's ridiculous that I won't get reimbursed for a mistake made on THEIR end.

Don't do it
I bought two gift cards for friends through Sun Basket. I thought they'd be decent since Williams Sonoma is promoting them on their website. Both recipients had terrible customer service experiences. When their orders didn't come up to the $100 I gifted them, Sun Basket wouldn't refund them (or me, the buyer) the $20 balances. Sunbasket only want subscriptions, they don't care about someone who places a single-meal order, even as a gift. I have no idea how the food is; one recipient was so upset she told me to cancel and get a refund.

So long SunBasket
My wife and I have used SunBasket, have enjoyed SunBasket, for well over two years. We are busy professionals, we like to cook, but lack the drive to plan meals and shop for the ingredients. So be it. SunBasket has been an answer for us. I am concerned, however, at the continuing serious decline in the freshness of the ingredients (specifically the produce) that arrive at our door from SunBasket. For example, radishes. Sunbasket have a long shelf life. I'm boggled that the radish that comes SunBasket as part of our ingredients for our meals, tends to be soft, spongy, and yes, sometimes moldy. We have contacted SunBasket privately regarding the freshness of their ingredients. They reassure us. They own it and apologize, a good business strategy. Agreed. We get it. Sometimes lack of freshness happens. However, they have failed. Two more months of 3 meal / week after their assurances. No change. We are done with SunBasket. Despite their assurances, the lack of freshness, wilty kale, soft cucumbers, hairy-moldy-soft sweet potato, gooey lettuce and un-usable herbs like cilantro, parsley and dried out basil have solidified our resolve to move on. Bummer, I know. As things come together, they must then fall apart. Entropy. They started out so good with the paleo- variety of meal options over the top. The freshness of the ingredients has failed, not their recipes. The produce makes me wonder on the freshness of the protein as well. Really? How is it that a radish, (a radish people!), a pillar, a staple, of long lasting crispness and freshness arrives at my house as pliable as a marshmallow?

Truly APPALLED!
Truly appalled. The packaging is horrendous, flimsy brown bags that don't hold up to anything, especially the melting frozen water bottles thrown in the box. The freshness of the produce is questionable at best. The romaine lettuce, from the DAY I RECEIVED the box, August 13th, was wilted and brown. Reverting back to the packaging, the box, BEFORE I OPENED IT, was leaking fish/shrimp smelling liquid... which is now all over my refrigerator, thanks for that. I am actually regretting giving y'all a chance. I will stick with Hello Fresh. Now, to figure out what to make my kids for dinner since I have read other reviews and I am now afraid to feed it to my kids. Thank goodness I have Hello Fresh coming next week, Sunbasket have NEVER disappointed!
