DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! This class does NOT work. We bought the newborn class and the full bundle. We followed all of the steps and we did everything she told us to do. We’re weeks in and our 7 month old is still not sleeping more than 3 hours at night. We spent hours all night long using her tactics and letting him cry it out and it’s not getting any better. A huge waste of money!
Taking the newborn course when our son was just 5 weeks old made all the difference in the world. The day we took the online course and began implementing Cara's techniques, it was like a lightbulb turned on and newborn sleep became manageable! When he hit that 4 month sleep regression, we knew we needed to take the next course. My husband and I both love her courses and cannot recommend them enough! They are worth every penny!
Our first daughter slept through night on her own at 6 months, so when we had twins that never slept..i didnt know ehat to do or where to start with sleep training. Our best friend is a Physician and told us about Cara's plan. 5 days into starting and my twins slept through the night!! They were 8 months when we started the program and here we are 2 months later and they sleep like angels. Money well spent for me to love my babies with more energy.
I was introduced to you with my now 2 year old son when he was about 4 months old and not able to put himself to sleep, meaning we would spend a lot of time rocking him at night. Your tips made all the difference and got us back to a sleep-filled nights.
We are now using the newborn class with our 2 month old daughter. I bought it when she was 2 weeks old and only sleeping on mom or dad but didn’t get serious about implementing your strategies until the last week or two. Wow - what a difference! She’s sleeping in her bassinet (for most of the night) and is currently in her second long crib nap of the day. It’s seriously life changing to be able to roam around freely with my 2 year old during the day or, during overlapping nap time, have time to get some stuff done or just have me time!
I also have read several of your blog posts when I’ve had specific issues.
Thanks again!
My husband and I watched the newborn class a few days before we went into labor. It gave us a framework and loose plan for how to approach eating and sleeping during those first few months. It was a game changer. Not sure what we would have done otherwise. Our little one has done a wonderful job of sleeping with only a single night feeding for a while now. Being moderately well rested is possible even at a young age!
As a first time mom, I didn’t know how to support my son’s sleep habits. My husband and I are big sleepers so I wanted to ensure I was doing what I could to help my son sleep well. I took the newborn course, the 3-4 mos bundle and nap course when my son was 5 mos and I found them so helpful!! After putting what I learned into practise, my son slept through the night at 3 mos and is a good napper. Even when we have off days, I have the peace of mind that I’ve done what I can to support his sleep. He’s a super happy baby, I’m sure in part to the fact he’s well rested. I recommend these courses to all my friends!
With my first baby we bought the 3 to 4 month class and it was helpful. But starting with a newborn class with a brand new baby was the best way to go! We had a lot longer stretches of sleep a lot sooner he’s much better at putting himself to sleep. I will definitely use the steps and techniques she taught in this class with all of my kids. Worth every penny!! Don’t hesitate if you want a good night sleep quicker when you bring that newborn home.
I want to thank Cara and the team for the sleep training materials. It has transformed our lives from those of optimistic but sleep deprived parents, to those who really have the energy for our little one.
After being super scared about actually implementing sleep training over fears of hours and hours of crying, our baby literally cried for less than 15 minutes the first night of sleep training and less than 5 the next night!
She generally goes to sleep of her own accord now (after our bedtime routine) and sleep solidly from about 7:30 until 7:00 the next morning.
This means that mom and dad get some free time together every night!
I cannot recommend this more highly.
A happy and well-rested dad!
We took this course before our baby arrived and it made navigating the newborn phase so much easier. We felt like we had tools to better figure out why our baby was crying and a guide to help us better observe and learn our baby's cues. The method for calming a crying baby also helped us keep our sanity during the rough patches!
This class has change our lives! Really don’t know what my mental state would look like if it wasn’t for the 5-24 month course. Now with our second baby I feel equipped to set up our baby for good sleep. The newborn class is such a pleasant, and easy approach to newborn sleep. Cara gives so much grace when things don’t go quite as planned and there are no hard and fast rules. I love her gentle words and advice on how to set your babies up for successful sleep. I recommend it to anyone who is struggling and her classes would make a great baby shower gift!!
I could not recommend Cara’s classes more. It literally saved me. My baby was sleeping through the night by 10 weeks thanks to the newborn class. My daughter then struggled with naps and for months would only take 30-40 minute naps and would be so fussy all day. I finally purchased the nap class and I’m not exaggerating when I say 3 days into she was sleeping 1.5-2 hours. I had to wake her up. I couldn’t believe. It’s worth every penny!
My husband and I are first time parents. We decided to take the newborn course before my daughter was born. Immediately after she was born we started implementing the principals and utilizing some of the content, realizing the true work couldn’t start until she was 4 weeks old. However, the concerns empowered us to lay great foundations for sleep, and also gave us confidence and some much needed structure. After 4 weeks, we immediately began the true curriculum and our daughter took to it immediately. She sleep 8 hours a night by 6 weeks old and started regularly sleeping 10-12 hours a night by 12 weeks. She’s continued to sleep 10-12 hours a night (she’s 6 months today), not including a bump around the 4 month sleep regression, which the 3-4 month Taking Cara Babies class helped us navigate beautifully. We’re now using the 5-24 month class to navigate her current schedule. She sleeps 10-12 hours a night and takes 3 naps per day - normally two 1.5-2 hour naps and another shorter nap in late afternoon. It’s wonderful. As two working parents, I honestly don’t know what we would have done without this resource. I know I would have felt lost. The courses provided the right amount of information and direction for us to set our baby on a successful path for sleep and then helped us along the way when the path was rocky or we needed help to navigate dropping a nap or widening a wake window. I refer every new mom to Taking Cara Babies! It’s a game changer!
I adore Cara! As a first-time father, I had a difficult time knowing how to help my son learn how to sleep on his own. For months, I held his hand until he fell asleep. After watching Cara's course, I was able to help him fall asleep independently within a week. I felt encouraged and inspired by Cara and I think this course has made me a better father.
My baby girl wasn’t a terrible sleeper but it felt like she was getting worse as she got older rather than better. She’s a big baby so I knew she didn’t need to be waking up to eat and needed some advice/encouragement on what to do. So
Many people have recommended Taking Cara Babies so I decided to do it! The course gave me the confidence that overall, my baby girl would figure out how to fall back asleep on her own and I didn’t need to tend to her EVERY time she woke up or made a noise. She sleeps through the night now, no problem and almost 12 hours! I know that these courses helped us both :)
Our baby is very clingy. I'm talking right out of the womb we couldn't put her down and she hated her arms swaddled. Lots of contact napping and difficult long nights. The first couple months were rough but once I took the newborn class there was no looking back. The very first day of implementing her training she took every single nap in her crib. By the time it was time to "Sleep Train" I barely had to do anything at all. We took every class, but she was already a great sleeper at five months. It didn't change my relationship with her at all, she is still VERY CLINGY but we are well rested and clingy. The perfect combo.
Well put together material. Sit back worked well for getting our baby to take longer naps in the crib during the second month of life. After that none of the techniques worked for us. Literally none, our baby just did not fit the mold on this one. I wish I had expected that was an option earlier rather than jumping through hoops for months. As a first time mom I thought the advice was some gold standard or and more supported by science than it is. Some babies do not follow these habits, our baby is one of them.
I was desperate for help sleep training, I'd followed Taking Cara Babies on Instagram for a few years and finally decided to spend all the money we got for Christmas on the course because the reviews made it seem so effective and not like a re-dressed cry-it-out like the Ferber method basically is. Honestly I feel kinda duped now. We caught COVID for a month after I bought it, so I assumed it was user error and I missed the money back window, which, by the way is the same amount of time that the course says it takes to sleep train, so if you encounter sickness or teething or travel or literally any of the bumps that happen that set you back to day one, you miss the money back guarantee. But turns out if I wanted tips on coping with sickness, turns out I need to spend ANOTHER huge chunk of cash for the Bumps Along the Way package. We also couldn't fix early wakeups due to napping issues, and that is ALSO not included in the very expensive course and needs to be purchased for extra. We aren't wealthy enough to afford a home that has a room for everyone, baby had to be with us. So we were desperate for any tips and help, and spent everything we had to get it. I feel duped.
I really loved your class, but unfortunately our baby was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome at 5 months that causes sleep disturbances. We're on month 7 and he is physically incapable of sleeping through the night so unfortunately your wonderful class did not help us. We plan on retaking when we have baby number two though!
I cannot recommended this course enough! It is packed full of helpful, practical information that is easy to digest on very little sleep. (That’s why we’re all here, right?!) We saw results within a couple days after implementing Cara’s recommendations and our 6 week old was sleeping through the night (6-8hrs) within a week. I would HIGHLY recommend this course not only for new parents but also anyone who serves in a caregiving capacity. It is helpful information for the whole team!!
I love Cara, but the information included in the newborn seminar just wasn’t helpful. It seems like every parenting influencer has their own take on the five s’s, but it doesn’t make you a genius. As a new parent, my partner and I would have really benefitted from realistic expectations for baby. Maybe the newborn seminar was just bland compared to the others, but I’m not going to pay that ridiculous fee again.
