Not a scam, but a sham company, should be able to sue the government for things like this. Took more than a month to receive birth certificates necessary for visa application, despite 10-15 day expected arrival. When i called after a month VitalChek said they would have to be 'reminded', that was after being put on hold for 4.5 hours, then dropped from my call, then calling again first thing two days in a row until finally someone was able to confirm a shipment. It doesn't look like refunds are available. A birth certificate is not a product, it should be free, and if it's not, there should be a way to hold companies like this accountable for screwing everyone over.

I've placed an order for my daughters birth certificate back in December and it's never been delivered! VitalChek " claim" it was rejected and sent back February 16th! Why wasn't I contacted? They also stated maybe the post office has it or lost it. The post office said they never received it and i also have informed delivery so how is that possible? I see all my mail on my app before it gets to me! They are hiring a bunch of lazy dumb worker's that's not doing a damn thing but lying over the phone! I will get all of them fired!

Had no choice but to use this company to obtain a copy of my marriage license. VitalChek charged me $60 up front and asked that I print a form and sign it with my husband in front of a notary. No big deal. We went and did that, uploaded the document, and received a response that our names were incorrect and we needed to start the process over. They weren't. I've been reaching out to Customer Service every single day trying to understand what they need to process our request. No one answers their phone (I'm sorry, but how long will companies use COVID as an excuse to literally ignore their customers' questions) and no one responds to support emails. Just be prepared to pay up front and not get what you paid for.

The only thing worse than vitacheck.com is the fact that the monroe county, ny office of vital records required me to order my documents through them. This came after getting the run around from one office to another, conflicting info and directly ordering an amended birth certificate through the state website. After the aggravating process of getting anyone at all because the order for which i have a receipt, hadn't gone through i was told by someone in the office i had to order through vitalchek. I applied, VitalChek took my money the state site says the order went through but i can only check the status through vitalchek. Of course, vitalchek likes to state that has a partnership to provide (typically) only Online order support, and possibly only for certain record types. VitalChek will provide the ability to order records from that agency on our website, but all customer service and order processing efforts are conducted solely by the vital records agency itself. Now even though the state of new york says the application has been put through vitalchek says they need all the information again and i should call them. Well, there is absolutely no customer service. After pressing the number 2 because i've already ordered my certificate and waiting 45 minutes i finally got a representative who wanted to know if i wanted to order a birth certificate. 45 more minutes and counting waiting for a "specialist". The worst of it is they want information as it appears on my birth certificate, well i'm adopted and the state of new york never issued a birth certificate only a registration certificate which states and i quote " as shown by the duly registered original certificate of birth of said person. That certificate does me no good as it has the names of the dna donors, not my adoptive parents. I was never issued a proper long-form birth certificate with the names of my adoptive parents. As of this posting I've been on hold for 2.5 hours.

Despite being skeptical about them, I was in need of a birth certificate so I contacted them. The website had the directions clearly stated which was very easy to navigate. I placed my order after providing the necessary information to the very polite employee who contacted me. The documents were shipped within four days which blew my mind! Highly recommended

Thought i was paying 50 dollars for a birth certificate and all i received was a one-page basic form VitalChek filled out for me. I was then responsible for sending the form and paying another 60 bucks to get the certificate. Literally charged me 50 bucks for a 1 page form that takes 1 minute to fil out. RIP OFF

I'd give them a ZERO if I could. Kept getting auto messages sent stating "Sworn Statement not received" from VitalCheck. Called the County Record Dept. and VitalChek told me they had received it. Got 3 more messages from VitalCheck stating the same thing then got auto message stating they had cancelled my order because Sworn Statement was not received, EACH time I sent VitalCheck an email telling them it had been received. I had to contact the County Records office my self and they told me they have it and they would contact VitalCheck. After that, VitalCheck stated those are automated messages and we should've ignored them. REALLY? How is the customer suppose to know this. You pay for a computer, no real person. Tried calling them, got message that they are not answering at this time. All VitalCheck had to do was write or call the County Records office.

You need a Wedding Certificate or a Birth Certificate? SAVE YOUR MONEY. Use the USPS express mail, send the county the fee they request with a self addressed envelope. It will get to you just as fast and no headaches.

I placed an order on July 22nd 2021 for my birth certificate. I was born in American Samoa! I read the negative reviews about VitalChek and took a risk. A month passed by and I was beginning to believe the negative reports. I checked the status of my order and one of the representatives told me to wait another 60 days for processing. I called the customer service line and was on hold for almost one hours and twenty minutes. After two weeks of constantly emailing their company- I accused of them of scamming me and wanted a refund. Unfortunately, they're not scam artists. This company is legit. I received my birth certificate today Sept 11,2021. Don't believe the negative reports about how VitalChek never received their birth certificate or it was torn to pieces when it arrived. The only thing that vitalcheck needs to work on is their customer service line. I am satisfied that this company fulfilled their part. I apologize for playing the irate customer. This is what happens when you fall victim to negative reports. Take it from me- Vitalcheck is legit-

Worse company ever. I sent for my brothers death certificate on June 21st and it was approved, it said i would get it approx on July 7th. Then I get an email saying it's delayed. I called and sat on the phone for 2 hours before someone answered the phone. I asked why it was delayed and she said "I don't know". I waited for a couple more days and today I found out it was canceled. I called and was on the phone waiting for another 2 hours and VitalChek said they didn't get all the pages of the will. My fax said they got 6 pages that was all that there was. It seems to me someone didn't pick up all the pages so today I sent all 6 pages with a cover letter 10 times. I need that death certificate to be able to take my brothers ashes to the cemetary. I can NOT wait. I paid you people 112.00 this problem!

Wish I could rate negative -5 for their service. Worst service provider to deal with it, I am still unable to believe that VitalChek are still in business. I have ordered birth certificate for my kid and she is now 9 months still trying to upload the documents.
First time: my wife filled the application and she uploaded all the required documents then within 24 hours I have received an email saying Order was on Hold. At this time, all they need is valid Government Issued photo ID. Therefore, she uploaded her Driving license. Again received email alert saying upload the documents (ID Proof). This cycle repeated for six-seven times (every time we upload and receive the same email saying same thing).
So sort it out, I have called customer service to find out what is going on but no help offered from customer service, they are simply reading message saying that please upload any photo id.
At the same time, she advised me to cancel the order and resubmit the new order. Therefore, I have cancelled order and resubmitted. This time it was my turn to go through the cycle. I have received the same email.
Before uploading I have verified the PDF(Photo ID) and its very clear and no issues with the document(as I used this same document for other services(other govt agencies).

WHAT A NIGHTMARE. This is a never ending circle of passing paperwork back and forth, back and forth. Their forms are unclear, then the pass it back after it has been notarized for a middle initial that is in one place and not another - there is no intelligent life here. Large parts of the process are automated, so you get confusing emails, then when you get a different person on the line, VitalChek have some pecadillio that causes your application to be rejected. I have 3 masters degrees, spent 30 years in the military - I know how to fill out a form, but this is just crazy. They take part of your money up front, then keep jerking you around - you get told to fix one thing so you fix it, get it re-notarized. Then they find something else - back to the notary to correct that. It is just ridiculous - I have no problem with making things "right", but my homework should be graded ONE TIME and the form should be CRYSTAL CLEAR. Dont waste your time with these clowns.

I ordered 2 birth certificates for our newly adopted son. The order didn't go through yet my credit card was charged. I keep getting told to give them my order number and pin but I didn't get a confirmation email seeing as how the order didn't go through. Conveniently my credit card was charged. Due to COVID I was told this could take up to 5 months but since I waited so long, it's too late to dispute the charge on my credit card. Since I was charged I erroneously assumed VitalChek had my order. Customer service is pretty rude considering I have a right to request a refund for nothing.

Placed order for B. Cert. With vitalchek on June 9, was told it could take as many as 40 BUSINESS days for it to be sent out with an expected delivery day of August 4. Today, August 23, was told it is now taking 60 BUSINESS days and is expected to be sent out on September 2nd, Meanwhile VitalChek charged my credit card approx. $68.00 almost three months ago even though my order hasn't shipped. Rating should be ZERO! Unfortunately that is not an option.

VitalChek take your money and don't deliver your birth certificate. They hide behind the pandemic and now don't even have a way to reach them by phone. File a dispute with your credit card, they will try to get in contact with Vitalchek. When they can't, they will return your money and absorb the loss.

My mother ordered a divorce decree that she needs in order to obtain VA benefits. It has been 6 months and still no decree. When she checked the status it states that the "time has passed to process." There was a phone number provided but VitalChek don't answer or take messages. They took her money ($90) but will not return her emails requesting the status. She only has 3 months left to get this to the VA or she will lose all the benefits for this year. As I told her, they are stealing from the elderly and it's not right.

They finally responded with the statemenIs below They claimed I never responded to their previous emails. I forwarded the emails showing my responses and dates. They then sent an email stating there were no records, I reminded them I had a photocopy of the divorce decree so there were records.

"New York State Vital Records has responded to our inquiry regarding the status of the order stating that no record was found and that they will send you a certificate stating such."

Their next ridiculous response, which I just received, stated that I should reorder and pay them again. And they are still claiming the information given to them was incorrect even though it came directly off the divorce decree.

This is inexcusable.

I had ordered my husbands birth certificate on August 3rd I paid for the processing and also pid 18.50 for next day air total charges pd was 40.00 and here it is Aug 23rd and still nothing. Very poor communication
After emailing them several times! I would never use again.

It's scam. You will lose money and time. Ordered birth certificate in NYC for my son in April 2021. Website saying it was shipped 1 month ago. No birth certificate still and Vital check does not respond to e-mails and phones calls. NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene hanging up phone on me with this issue.

I needed copies of my marriage certificates to sign up for both TSA Pre-check and to also renew my passport, so I ordered them online. Even though it said the certificates would take up to a month to arrive, VitalChek came within a week. I was so impressed. Thank you so much!

There is no benefit to using VitalChek. After having a newborn, I started the process of ordering a birth certificate in June of 2021. My state had not yet opened their Vital Records office for in-person transactions and gave me the option to submit via mail or use the "online purchasing option" - VitalChek. Of course I opted to submit the request digitally, hoping it would be easier and faster, and even paid for the rush order. Unfortunately, after submitting payment and starting the process, it became clear that VitalChek's "online" option is basically a short questionnaire filled out digitally rather than on paper that ultimately results in you needed to get a form notarized and faxed (rather than an actual online submission). Even worse, 10 days after submitting the fax, I received an email from VitalChek at 3am saying that there was an issue with my notarized form which could be due to a number of issues - but without specifying what the actual issue was. The email advised me to resubmit a notarized form as soon as possible. When I clicked the "contact us" button on their website, VitalChek gave me the number of my Vital Records office (meaning they provided absolutely no support or information themselves). Do not use Vitalchek.

Please do not use this company it is a rip-off it's been 55 days and I'm still waiting on my birth certificate I've sent numerous emails day after day after day for over 30 days with one response was an old email talking about social distancing in Michigan we no longer have social distance in the Michigan this company is a scam do not use you will be better off using someone else
