Very disappointed
I purchased a book on the 9th December, plenty of time for christmas delivery.

Payment was taken out of my account on the 10th December.

I emailed them on the 18th December as I was getting a little concerned, was told my book had been sent out on the 16th December, great thankyou.

5 pm on the 24th December - still NO book.

I e mailed them and was told the book was out of stock? But I was told in my last e mail the book had been sent out on the 16th. Confused and angry.

I have since been refunded but wheres the book that had been posted out?

I am a retired, highly qualified industrial chemist, I am old fashioned and still prefer books for study to a computer for a number of reasons. I boosted the quantity of the books in my library recently with a large number of editions at very reasonable prices. Excellent.
But, there is a catch if you order through eBay, it is necessary to go back to them over any shortfall!
I found ' ReviewFeeder ' invasive, almost threatening and OTT! The written word should be accepted without all the ' add ons ' demanded / - note the pushy use of ' WHY '! That is getting Personal, ' Back Off! '. DL.

Why hasn't accc not stepped in.
This company dose not send the books you think you have ordered. Wob send cheaper editions in poor condition if you get them despite there grading they do not respond to email don't have a phone number and certainly dont refund I cancelled an order 10 minutes after purchasing after mistakenly realized I already had it. They still sent the book never replied to email and the book which cost $130 was ex library in poor condition the even had the hide to respond to part of one email and not mention the refund. To top it off they asked for a review which I gladly expressed my dissatisfaction. THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE SERIOUSLY LOOKED AT AS AS THEY ARE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF BLATANTLY. DISGRACEFUL.

Horrible service
I bought a book from WorldOfBooks in AbeBooks and it's been a nightmare of a service.

To start with, the shipping fee is more expensive than the book, although this doesn't bother me too much because the book is really cheap, but still worth mentioning.

I bought it on March 23th and the estimated time of arrival was on May 3rd, which is kind of unnecessarily long.

To my surprise, it was May 10th and I haven't received my book yet, so when I contact WorldOfBooks support asking for the tracking of the package Wob said they don't have tracking service and could have gotten lost so I had to search on the local postal office agencies... Really? 2019 and no tracking service? When you can go on any other site and got that as a minimum of service's quality guarantee.

When I ask them in which postal office the package should have arrived, they don't answer. Is there any useful information that they could give me? Seems not.

Getting annoyed as days pass between their slow answers through email, customer support offers me to get another copy of the book I asked or a refund.
My answer was that, if they couldn't provide any kind of guarantee that my package won't get lost this time (and it isn't something out of this world to ask for a tracking number or AT LEAST the name of the postal office company that should have my package so I can spend MY time doing extra job for achieving what it should have happened normally in first place) then I would go on with the refund, because losing a second package would be a bad joke.

So I've been checking my credit card daily to see if my refund has arrived, and when I asked for an estimated time of arrival for my refund some days ago, they answer telling me that the refund was made 5 days ago.
And yet my credit card doesn't show any transaction of it nor has had any increase on the available credit.

I know this may be an exception, but is beyond all bearing.
Slow shipping, slow answer from the customer support with no useful information provided, no solutions provided.
It's sad that a, seemingly renowned book selling website can't provide a service with a minimum quality level. No tracking nowadays? Or can't even tell me the postal office name to do YOUR job? And can't even get a refund correctly? Is this for stealing money or some kind of fraud? Because, with the incompetence that I've been experiencing, at this point it seems that I won't get neither my book or my money back. I would have paid for nothing and can't get refunded. (I hope not).

In summary, awful service. Won't ever buy again here and I recommend you all to do the same. Really awful.

Best place to buy second books
I have used world of books several times over the past few years and I have never experienced an issue with them. The books are all second hand and you have the option of selecting the books condtion that best suits you so do take into consideration that Wob aren't brand new and will have some light to moderate use. Older books will have some yellowing of pages or small marks and stains but nothing you receive will be unreasonable or unreadable. My favourite part of buying pre loved books is finding the previous owners book marks or notes from gifts.
Delivery has always been fast even during the backlog of deliveries caused by covid. Easy to contact and active on Instagram so you know someone will always be ready to take any questions or queries.

I can't recommend world of books enough, they are a cheap and sustainable way of buying books which helps the environment!

CAUTION - VERY POOR COMPANY - DO NOT USE!
Very Poor Service
Item purchased was a 2nd hand DVD box set. The item description stated "Very Good Condition". The item received was NOT so. The item came with sellotape holding the box together, x3 dvd cases were all broken and not holding together with each sleeve torn and punctured. I would describe, "Poor Condition".
I contacted World of Books, but have still not received any response to date, even though my email was read as I have received the read receipt. Tried calling this company numerous times, once being left ringing for 10 minutes with no one picking up.
Be very careful as this company have very poor after sales and frankly, customer relations is very poor together with their items.
I would certainly not recommend this company for any to use.
AWFUL... AWFUL COMPANY - AVOID OR BE VERY DISSAPOINTED LIKE THE REST OF THE REVIEWERS! Not just reviews on here, but everywhere! Just take a look. This company should be shut down for treating its customers this way!

Very very good book for diabetics.
I stayed with my friend for 4 days who is also Diabetic 2. She showed me this wonderful book because since buying and using many of the recipes she has lost 6kg over a few weeks. Because we are both overweight and true foodies and suffering with many disability issues, we both really struggle with exercising. I have loads and loads of cookery books but not a Diabetic recipe book. I went through the book with my usual huge interest in recipes. I ordered the next day through Amazon and it arrived ready for me once I returned home. I have tried a few recipes so far, but will be doing many more in the very near future. The diet plan etc towards the end of the book is very in depth. I wont follow completely, but will be picking elements. I am pleased I bought this because its a book to pick up and put down in the evenings to give me inspiration.

Disappointing condition
I have used Wob many times and have usually been very pleased and impressed with the service. This time I was very disappointed as the book arrived smelling of damp. When I reported it and asked for a refund I was told I should have to pay the return postage ( so barely any refund) or I could get a 20% discount. I did not want a damp book and queried the refusal to give a refund as the book was unfit for sale, eventually being told I could have a refund and should donate the book to charity. This I have done but still am waiting for the refund, 16 days after I was promised it. Not good service unfortunately.

Best pre-loved book options!
I am a huge fan of World of Books. I came across them when searching for a book on eBay, and since then I use their website directly. I have been buying all of my books here for the past year, both for myself and as gifts. Every time I need/want a new book, I first search in World of Books and Wob almost usually have it! Their website is very easy to navigate and they have so many options. I have never had any problems with them, and books always arrive on time (maximum a week after purchase). Obviously you are buying a second-hand product, so what you receive is not new, but I am generally very happy with the condition of all of the books.

World of Books is a great option if you are trying to be more eco-friendly and are keen on a more circular economy. They buy from local charities, donate and recycle any books they can't sell, and keep millions of books from ending up in landfills. And it's good for your pocket too. I couldn't be happier for discovering them!

A hardback copy of this book arrived, when I emailed, to tell you,, you replied that as a goodwill gesture you would refund me 30% of the price or if I returned it (it was a big heavy book) I would be refunded. I emailed you again and explained I can, t read small print so I never ordered the print version anyway so the mistake was yours, the reply was a refund and a trip to the charity shop to dispose of the unwanted item.
So the result of my last transaction was a walk to the charity shop and I still haven't got what I ordered, so I, m sorry but I, m not impressed.

Fradualent company, Book never shipped, and customer service non existence.
I purchased a book on Worldofbooks Inc Amazon storefront on Thur, Oct 29th, the order marked as shipped on Thur, Oct 29th, but the company never shipped the item and did not provide the shipping tracking information. I have sent several emails regarding my order shipment issue, but neither my issue got resolved nor my questions have been replied to date. It seems that Worldofbooks Inc is a fraudulent company. Based on my experience, I would suggest other buyers be cautious about the business practice of the Worldofbooks company. Very disappointing shopping experience.

It has been a while since I discovered worldofbooks and Wob have been such a lifesaver since then! Had doubts when I first bought one of their books because I didn't know if there were gonna be any problems with the shipping, but not at all! Books arrived perfectly within four/five working days (and since I live in Spain I'd say that's pretty quick!). I've made A LOT of orders since then and haven't had any problems whatsoever! Books always arrive in perfect condition!

Ha pasado ya bastante tiempo desde que descubrí worldofbooks y no han parado de salvarme la vida desde entonces. Al principio tuve dudas debido a que, al ser de España, no sabía si iba a haber algún tipo de problema con el envío, pero para nada! Los libros llegaron en perfecto estado a los cuatro/cinco días laborables (súper rápido). Desde entonces no he parado de hacer pedidos y en ningún momento he tenido ningún problema! ¡Todos los libros han llegado en perfecto estado!

Great, personal customer service and better than advertised book quality!
It's a shame to read negative comments about World of Books. I've been buying from them for years and I have always been delighted with the books and their customer service staff. The books arrive very quickly and I'm always surprised by how really good the quality is. I have honestly never received a poor quality book. If I've had a question the staff are friendly and more than helpful and their response is always prompt. I believe that if you have an issue with ANY company it's best to go direct to them to resolve it, rather than leave negative reviews which don't help anyone. Can I suggest that if anyone has a problem Wob speak to World of Books themselves? For myself, I will continue to buy several books a month for me and my family from World of Books- it's not just because of their realistic pricing. They help charities and they recycle books which reduce waste and lessen damage to our environment. Carry on as you are World of Books- you are doing a fantastic job!

Hit or Miss!
What one gets is totally unpredictable.
This seller advertizes used books in different conditions: Like New, Very Good, Good and Well Read - in theory enabling you to only choose books in a condition you like. In practice, while I often got perfect books, Wob are also often sent in condition entirely different from what was described. More than once I ordered "Like New" items and got either a badly damaged, torn, sunned copy full of scribblings inside, or an ex-library copy in unremovable folia wrapping, full of stamps and stickers - and then only offered a partial refund.
Due to this, I now only order from them when no other seller offers the same book for compareable price.

Useless Service - Took Money but Didn't Send Book
Attempted to purchase a book for my father, Wob took the money and that was the last I heard off them, approx week and a half later, I contacted them to find out where the book was, only to be told they had to cancel the order since the book was out of stock. They did this without having the decency to inform me and I was then informed I would have to wait 3 - 5 days for the money to be returned to my account. Oh they did apologise for any inconvenience caused, I really could not get over this. I definitely would not recommend them, they offer items slightly cheaper, but in the long run if you don't receive them and have to re-order else where, are they really worth the effort! I was not going to write this review, but received an invite to do so from WOB and thought yes I will review what I thought of their below average service, we can all apologise, but the service offered was so poor, I felt others should be made aware of it.

Shoddy delivery and mediocre service
Ordered two music CDs. Free shipping... if i ever get them. Only one even got a PayPal payment acknowledgement, and only one of the two (separately made) purchases shows up under my account but both have gotten "order shipped" emails. No idea when/if they'll arrive, as no tracking information whatsoever was provided. No tracking information exists on their web site, where only one of two purchases is listed under my account. And when I emailed support about this lack of tracking information on February 8th I received an auto-response which includes the line "We are now on a short break for the Christmas period but endeavour to respond to your email within 72 hours of our return, which is December 28th. " Maybe Wob didn't even come back 6 weeks ago and I'm just getting bot responses? Won't be doing any more business here, that's for certain. Assuming I've done any... maybe I've just been had, I can't tell.

UPDATE: This review got me a quick response, with two tracking numbers. It is now the 13th of February, the orders left WorldOfBooks (so they say) on the 3rd and 4th, and the USPS hasn't seen either one. WorldOfBooks' review monitor's response has been to tell me to sit and wait. My email to their actual contact address was responded to WELL AFTER the review site team was all over it- a hallmark of companies that know they're running a scam and don't want word getting out. Avoid this outfit like it's a plague carrier, you'll be happier.

FINAL WORD: Never saw my CDs, was given a refund after threatening to file a dispute with PayPal. Until said threat, kept getting "Just be patient and wait" type responses. Sticking with above assessment, avoid this site and you'll be much happier.

Very Poor Customer Service!
I like to buy books through Abe Books (part of Amazon). I trust this company and their service has always been excellent.

Sometimes, on Abe Books, you have to buy from a third party supplier and in this case it was World Of Books UK.

I wrote to World of Books with a quick question asking if Wob would please clarify the title of a book that I wanted to buy - as it appeared slightly 'different' on their site. (They called it Vol 1). My question was polite (why not) and specific. I even supplied their stock code number to help.

The reply that I received from their customer service (sic) was a lesson in 'could't care less management'. We are too busy to check... etc.

Happily there are many other good book sellers around and so this company has lost my business.

Disappointing service overall, unlikely to use again
Update Dec 14th: refund processed. Still a very cumbersome long process lasting 6 weeks.
Update Dec 7th: Since submitting this review I've been contacted again by customer service and advised Wob are now going to process a refund. I've therefore updated the rating from one star to 2 and changed the title from "Disappointing service overall, wont use again" to "Disappointing service overall, unlikely to use again". I'm still disappointed by the overall experience and feel their messages to customers around replacements/refunds need to improve.

First time user of this website, initially thought this site looked great and was thrilled to see second hand books that my 7 year old was interested in that cant be bought new.
Ordered 3 books at the start of November, was notified one was being sent and over a few days got notifications the others were damaged so I could pick a replacement or get a refund. I went back and forth with a customer rep and eventually selected 3 books to the value of the 2 ones they couldn't send. Received dispatch notes for 2 books but 2 different books arrived 2 weeks later? I'm now being told that its a one for one replacement so as the books sent were less value than the ones I requested/paid for they cant refund. Disappointing as if this was made clear at any stage I would have immediately requested a refund for those initial 2 books and not wasted time picking replacements. A month later I have one book I asked for and 2 others and am out of pocket. Wont be using again and don't recommend.

Sold me a book that was not as described
Sold me a book that was not as described, and refused to pay for return postage when I asked to return it.

Item description stated that the book was "not marred by notes", but it did have some writing in it. I wanted to return due to this with the intention of getting another copy. Wob refused to pay return postage even though they were the ones at fault.

As I bought it from them through Amazon's Marketplace, I am currently in the process of trying to get Amazon to step in.

I'm sure they are great if all goes right, but it is how they deal with things when they go wrong that really defines a company, and on that basis this company has completely failed. I certainly won't be using them again.

Super Disappointed!
So I ordered a trilogy from World of Books, and when I ordered it, all the books had the same style of cover, but when Wob arrived, 2 of them had a different cover to the one I had ordered. The first one in the series was also said to be in 'very good condition' but it had multiple creases to the front and the spine, and half a pricing label was left on the front. I also found a receipt for W Smith books inside which stated that the book was bought for a lot less money New than I had paid for it used. This site seems like a bit of a scam to me. I won't be buying from them again!
