So everyone who wants to unlock the phone, don't waste the money to them, AVOID AVOID AVOID! I believe all good reviews of this company were written by themselves! And other negative reviews were true!
I have by the way gave them a reciept then look at their response after that " it is blacklisted so we are protected from chargeback" Really?
I am reporting them to my bank for a charge back and I will be reporting them to the office of fair trading.
Keep away from this company, They will not unlock your phone and you will not see your money back ever again.
They advertise $28, and there is no disclaimer or notification that there will be another charge. Then after you pay the $28 it says the process has begun. IF you do not go to "tracking" to check the progress, you would not know that the process will not complete until you pay more than the $28 already taken. For me it was $42 more, $70 it cost not $28 as advertised! I feel cheated, I would not have paid $70 when there are cheaper companies, but since you already paid how much frustration would it be to try and get a refund? So, I assume most people just pay it. I don't even know if it works yet. But, so far this constitutes a SCAM in my opinion.
If they are a legit and a good company then why aren't they transparent?
If the transaction fails again we suggest you use an alternative card." Called both Chase and Visa and they've confirmed that while an initial purchase failed that now transactions are being held by the merchant. Had to resort to a non-preferred card to get the order to process.
I just want to ask questions:
1. Publish cheap prices and then ask for extra money at double the price. Nowhere is this read that Direct Unlocks are asking for extra money yet.
2. Why are they posting 4.7 good ratings when there is a lot of negative experience against the company which is already rated 3.5, but a lot of negative comments are blocked.
I wanted to encode a Samsung A3 from a Hungarian network. I already paid $ 20 for a code of course I didn't get. Now that I'm wondering when I get the code, I'd like to pay another $ 42, which is done at a telephone shop for $ 25.
I ask everyone to take legal action I do not simply believe that this company can not be sued. Wait for the injured, start a facebook group and start getting your money back.
Who could help me?
I needed to unlock an iPhone 12 mini that I own outright but can't be unlocked for a few months because my carrier is a jerk. (A review for another day, perhaps.) I was taking it abroad and wanted to put a SIM card that would work overseas into the phone. I read up on paying somebody to do it and everybody said be wary, but I knew I'd have to throw some money at this issue regardless, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Since directunlocks.com has such good reviews, I figured I'd be safe. If you want a TL; DR, my phone still isn't unlocked (2+ months later), but I want to detail 3 specific issues in case you're swayed by all of the positive reviews.
1) As has been stated in other reviews, Direct Unlocks charge you first for checking to see whether your phone can be unlocked. As has also been stated in other reviews, that's information you can get elsewhere for free. My main caveat is that part of the reason I went with directunlocks.com is that they were only $28, and if I were going to lose some money at least that was less money than I would lose elsewhere. Yeah, after they check whether it can be unlocked, they charge you another $42 to unlock it. So it's $70, which is more expensive than anywhere else I looked at.
2) They give you a status tracker to show when you can expect your phone to be unlocked. Mine was ahead of schedule, which was great since I was due to be leaving the country 3 weeks after I started the unlock process. Except it stalled out at 99% and said that the unlock was "imminent." I emailed them after 24 hours to ask what was going on (I literally quoted The Princess Bride saying they obviously didn't know what the word "imminent" meant) and to get an ETA. They emailed back that they were chasing this unlock and I could check the tracker to see where it was (see pic). Except the tracker sat at imminent for the remainder of the time I dealt with this company. And when I emailed them back to tell them that I needed an ETA to make backup plans as necessary and that the tracker was not useful, I got nothing from them ever again. So do not expect customer service to be helpful.
3) On the job tracker page, there's a button that will supposedly let you refund yourself after 30 days if the phone isn't unlocked. Since they failed to unlock my phone before I left, I ended up buying a new one and figured I'd use the "refund yourself" button once the 30-day period had ended. Except, surprise, when I checked the page once the 30-day period was up, the button had disappeared. At this point I emailed them that if they didn't refund me in 24 hours, I'd dispute the charge with my credit card company (since they didn't provide me with the service they'd charged for). I then got a response saying that they'd refund me. A few hours later I got another email from them saying that my phone had been unlocked, and if I paid $42 (unclear whether this was the $42 that, to their credit, they did actually refund me or yet another $42, as I didn't pay it), the unlock would be sent over WiFi. So expect them to not hold up their end of the bargain and to need to threaten them to get anything done.
I will add a minor caveat: since I didn't pay them the $42, I don't know whether it would have actually unlocked my iPhone. I can get my carrier to unlock it soon, and I'd already bought another one to take on the trip, so I didn't need to get it unlocked by somebody else by that point. It's possible they really would have sent the unlock for me. So if you're out of options and are okay with a) waiting, b) threatening, and c) potentially still having your money stolen, this company might work. I bet $28 on it and lost, so I'd say don't go for it, but if you really have no other options, it might work out for you.
Unlock for IMEI *******00558077
Order: 11177663
I asked then to unlock my cell phone on 10/02/20 because I would travel overseas on 02/23/20 and so far it has not been unlocked, and every time I get in contact by- e-mail for their support, Direct Unlocks take a long time to answer and when they answer me, they do with automatic answers like this one ("we hope to be given a date when this and other unlocks will be completed
We understand that they have incurred delays, but we dont want to leave our customers in the dark
I can assure you that we will all pull together to get all unlocks completed as soon as possible
Thank you for your patience
Kind regards
Luke")

I really wanted to believe in them. But I am saddened and disappointed.
End of January 2019 directunlock announced a "Premium Service" to remove iCloud account for all devices, including lost/stolen ones. I paid 100 POUNDS! And service time expected was 30 days. ONE FULL YEAR! Later I can say, no "premium" service has been provided, there is no indication available when the service will be completed, there have been very limited replies to requests (only 2 times) and only with standard wording. I asked for full reimbursement so that I can check alternative providers, but instead was offered vouchers. You will for sure agree with me that is quite ridiculous or shall I lose another year on a service not being performed?
Unfortunately I lost my money, but would like to avoid others to experience the same.
I was not clearly informed of the requirement for an additional payment other than the one I already made to unlock my phone.
Then Direct Unlocks said:
Overdue - this unlock is taking a little longer than normal, we are chasing this IMEI for you and have prioritised it. We will email you and update your status accordingly when it is unlocked.~
After:
Hi, Unfortunately as per our terms and conditions, handsets which do not meet the unlocking criteria are ineligible for a card refund. You have been refunded with a credit note to use against the premium service when it returns, or alternatively you can use it for a friend or family member who needs to unlock a different handset.
However, if you can send proof the device is not lost/stolen e.g. the original invoice from Apple or your carrier, either electronic or physical then we can get our money back from the supplier and refund you.
This is a android phone, not apple...
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! They are just SCAMMERS!
The price indicated on the site is about 20%. The next day, it will say "you will need to pay the remaining unlocking balance" and go to the payment page for the remaining 80%. Cheaper new iphone 6s buy on ali. And Direct Unlocks will not return the money to you, they have it written in the rules. FRAUD. Chargeback to help you.
I had placed order on 18th Feb 2020. Today already 60 days passed and as per their order tracking section process time is over, it shows 100% completed. Unfortunately unlock is not done and No response from luke.
I hope, I will get full refund.
Reply to Direct unlock:
1. After two continues payments, you did not realize that this phone is lost OR not.
2. Here is your words to grantee unlock:

To me
I can assure you the premium service will unlock your device
However if this final stage fails we have a full refund policy
Kind regards
I am not the kind of person who writes 1-star reviews just because a small thing is not like I expected. But Direct Unlocks deserves no more as it is a total ripoff! Here's why:
• First, Direct Unlocks will ask you for a second payment, so the displayed price is not what you will pay.
• Second, they will never unlock your phone (it's been 50 days for me), pretending that the "Service on hold, temporarily offline for all unlocking services" (I am quoting the website).
• And of course, DirectUnlocks refuses to give you a refund, despite the website states you will get one after 30 days if your phone is not unlocked. The best they offer you is a credit to reuse on their website.
You then get a message saying you idiot you should have checked the small print now pay £48 for being that idiot! Not in this e words but Doctorsim does not charge that feel like I have been trapped into the service. As you say you only get taken for a ride once lesson learned!
Oh once you pay the next fee suddenly no mention of 24 hours now it says time to complete 4 days plus!
They are not thinking ahead here I along with others will never use this service again and the a lot of money they are missing out on.
Might put a complaint in to the correct authority as I feel along with others it is not made clear what you are paying for.
Stay away and read reviews before trusting these guys in my opinion!
This is the second time I've had a problem, last time the Representative was so helpful. This time Mary Beth was great too, other than the incorrect information she was given. I'd prefer to stay with you, but this would need to be resolved. If you believe you could make the $50 + tax happen, without $15 activation fee, on your $75 plan, feel free to give me a call or just make the change happen by 10/21/20. Thank you for considering this.
