I requested to cancel my domain privacy service in April 2016. They told me everything is cancelled. I have the chat message and everything. In August 2016 I realized they were still charging my business card. I thought, wait this isn't right. At this point I still had Domains with them. But I signed up for an annual plan so I should only be billed annually. So I logged into my hostgator account and saw that they've been charging me for the same service I cancelled 4 months ago.
So I contact them again and ask what the heck is going on. They said that they were charging me for my other domains. Let me note that I had over 10 domains but only signed one of them up for domain privacy. So I made it clear in August that I want it cancelled for all domains not just one. They promised they would.
Guess what? You guessed right. It's now December 2016 and I'm still being charged. I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company. And they still continue to charge me. I have to get a new card because these guys are liars and scammers. I should have paid attention to the negative reviews. They make money off subscriptions that people forget about. They don't make cancellations!
Stay away from Hostgator at all cost! They will never stop charging you!
I've spent a lot to get my sites up. These things need to resolved and I need a much smoother user experience. Otherwise, I might just switch hosting platforms. Very cumbersome!
Anyway, I'm back hopefully for a long time with a company I'm sure will supply the service and components I need for success.
After resolving that issue, the hosting is going great, love the FTP and the friendly customer support that is easy to access.
If you need to try them for almost free (pay only $0.01), use the coupon code CPANELHOSTING.
You can also use the coupon code SERVERHOSTING to save 25% from your first bill.
This last email is particularly obnoxious and I still cannot access my site. So your feedback, chat, email, support, escalation groups are NOT working together. That Jason S did not even read what had happened. The same with the others in the tier4. It is falsely labeled.
The smartest and best person so far is Nanda and we chatted and worked for an hour and 45 minutes. She got the domain name finally registered and got things working. But I still cannot get to the control panel from my Portal. Dashboard.
Your CEO and managers are not available, and probably don't listen or care. All the escalations are going to people who don't read carefully.
Give Nanda a promotion, make her in charge of the escalation groups. She knows how to debug, more importantly she knows how to communicate and keep at something until it works. She just did not have access to basic tools to test the Windows server. Let the Chat group see the status and change basic settings on ALL servers.

Maybe eventually, my GlobalComs.Org at HostGator will be online. It does not look very hopeful at this point. Those escalation people are supposed to be so smart, but they are not diligent and don't put in the effort necessary to do the whole job. They send glib emails and are always doing less than needed. Shame on their supervisor/manager/department head/division head whatever, for accepting less the best in world practices.
You are at their mercy and they don't care about you or your site.
If your issue requires more in-depth, technical support, your request will be escalated to the proper support staff.
I'm going on 15 years with HostGator and can say that any issues that have occurred during my hosting relationship with them have been ultimately resolved and generally resolved in an expedient manner.
Any company can provide you bandwidth and a hosting platform but it takes great customer service to make the relationship last!
When I switched to my main income source of business being online, I put my faith into hostgator. I have been quite pleased with them. When you think hosting providers it comes down to just a few key things:
Price: You can get the first month hatchling plan for a penny (coupon code: PENNYSAVER), then its only about $7 a mmonth after that. I have not found anything with a similar price value.
Reliability: I work from home, and it is super important to have 100% uptime. Hostgator does this for me.
Speed: So, Google now can rank sites based on their loading speed. I have gotten every one of my sites on the first page of google with the speed that hostgator has.
Tools: They give you a lot of tools in the dashboard. You won't need half of them. Buuut they are all nice to have just in case.
I highly recommend them.
