Keep shopping!
I had intoxalock in my car for a year... and a bonus three months and two calibrations I was charged for due to Covid. This is a bulky, outdated system that destroyed two batteries in that short time and now my car is in the shop for the second time since removal as Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device try to figure out the electrical damage that was caused by this unit. It malfunctioned often and average hold time for customer service is ALWAYS an hour or more. When it needs calibrated, it reminds you 2 weeks out so you literally spend half of every month listening to loud beeping and chirping and starting your car is delayed even more while this message flashes incessantly before allowing you to blow. And it's almost as if the rolling retests are so distracting and dangerous by design. Sometimes I'd make it a mile before it was requiring one, which was a bonus, but never drove for more than 5 minutes without one being required. I have literally had to blow 5 times in my 12 mile commute to work. And two times in my trips to the convenience store 1.9 miles away. I knew this wasn't the norm as I knew two other people with other brands of ILLs but of course Intoxalock said not a problem with their system. Bottom line. DO NOT lease this unit.

Stupid
These guys are complete asshats. I am finally able to get my interlock taken out of my car (almost a month past due by the way, thanks to this finally very sweet angel at the MVA saying she can remove one of my restrictions bless her heart; she actually went the extra mile to help me). I call intoxalock to get it removed, and after wasting 7 minutes on hold, a lady told me I needed a "hearing officer" to get it removed. I told her I already had a completion letter and everything, but she still told me I needed more approval. I unfortunately believed her, so I wasted another 10 minutes trying to get to the MVA, where the lady told me "I don't even know what a hearing officer is" and she sent me ANOTHER completion letter. I then called my local service provider, who takes the interlocks off and puts them on. He told me how untrue that was. I wouldn't be completely PISSED with this company if 1. The girl was being rude as all heck; and 2. I wasted over 10 minutes on hold with them and for MVA to tell me that is incorrect. PLEASE do NOT go to this company for ANY type of information. It is bad enough I have to apparently wait 48 hours for them to approve my removal. Approve what? The MVA approved my completion in less than a second. What the heck do Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device have to approve? I ended up having to call back to ask them if they received my completion letter, and this guy had NO information on it whatsoever. Told me to tell HIM what email address I sent it to. He then told me "yeah that's the right one. They will ‘probably' need about 48 hours to approve it"... probably? And once again, 48 hours to approve what?!? They are working for ME at this point and I REFUSE to spend any extra penny on this company, which is obviously what they are after: money. They are complete trash and customer service needs to learn how to just say "I don't know the answer to that" because I am VERY tired of listening to people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, but think that they do. I get that I got a DUI and it should be as much of an inconvenience to me as possible, but I am WAY past due. I am far from even the thought of drinking and driving again. And they gave NO help in that. Didn't even say "congratulations" like BOTH of the MVA ladies did. They are OUT FOR MONEY so beware. I have a friend that works at the body shop where I have my recalibrations made, and SHE is even sick of them. Along with the very nice guy who services them (takes them out/puts them in/helps if anything is wrong with them). Even HE admits how trash this company is. I do not trust this company whatsoever and I would keep searching for a new one. They are absolutely terrible.

They charge you for silly lockouts
I went into my car to use the cigarette lighter cause I needed to air up my bike tires with an electric pump and little did I know that turning the key to the on position activates the device where now you have to blow in to it. No one explained that to me at the time of installation and neither is it in the instructions Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device give you in the lockout section. So then I had to go all the way to the place pay 20 bucks and get it recalibrated and then they charged me 80 dollars. They said it was a valid lock out. How the $#*! is that valid? Anyway, they escalated the call and the manager said there was nothing they could do. The place is a rip off! They re just out to get money. Didn't do business with them research other IID places. Your lawyer might recommend them but that's probably cause he gets referral fees from them. I wanna give them negative stars cause they suck.

Just now

I honestly have no idea how this

I honestly have no idea how this company is this highly rated- short of buying reviews.

Been with this company for a number of years and Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device are absolute garbage.

Problems with their system every other month seems like and more than 3 of them were catastrophic failures preventing me from even starting my car or making it to the dealership to have it serviced.

Oh yeah, and it will definitely not start in -40F so be sure to keep your survival kit in this car so you dont freeze to death.

Add to that either incomplete or inaccurate (sometimes totally false) information, youd better be prepared for lockouts and extensions on your state's program in order to get your license back.
Most recently I received 180 day extension to my requirement because of something that's been malfunctioning for the past 6 months.

Oh, and you'll talk to 3 different people and receive 3 different responses.

Do your homework and you'll find others just as good and for a little less. I promise you.

The Absolute Worst
IF you get involved with this company get ready for "HELL" to enter your life. The equipment is outdated it's obsolete. It took me 9 months to complete a six mouth program. That's standard for this company. You can't leave unless you pay an early termination of 200plus dollars if you do and then you start all over at the other company. Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device will lie, cheat, and now they are trying to outright steal from me by charging close out fees, returned fees, on and on. A program that stated it cost 853 dollars ended up costing me over 1300 dollars and except for my credit card company would have cost even more. There is no recourse It'd Crony Capitalism at it's worse. Their installers are worse. Mobile Electronics in LaGrange Ga. Overcharged me every time I went there for recalibration. Until I found an honest one (Southside Liners in Newnan Ga), was the only way I completed the program. All the rest are straight out crooks. There are a lot of other companies, go to anyone but Intoxalock.

Nightmare trying to obtain refund
I have called this company 5 times this a.m. between 9 a.m. central time and 10 a.m. to obtain a refund of $37.50 for an unauthorized payment Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device stole when I was trying to locate the nearest company in my area. My mistake was giving the rep my credit card to store on my new account for future payments if I went with them. But, I chose not to. The rep Latasha Patterson has not returned my calls or emails because apparently, only the initial rep I spoke with who set up my account can reverse the charge. When I called today, 2 different male reps hung up on me after they asked me why I was closing my account. One actually laughed and said, "why would you do that?" Then hung up on me. To go through their telemated system takes 5 minutes plus 10 minutes of waiting on hold before someone answers. Then I was just transferred around and eventually sent to Latasha's voicemail. Now I have to call my credit card company to deal with this unauthorized charge. I never signed a lease or installed their device so what am I paying 37.50 for? Avoid this company as they charge customers cards after they obtain payment info but tell them it's only for future payments once the device is installed. No luck with obtaining a refund after spending at least 1.5 hours calling and emailing Intoxalock.

Intoxalock Companies Deceive Their Costomers
All the ignition intoxlock companies devices have false negative readings. This is how these companies rip off innocent people and take an advantage of their customers. (I want to send documents but my computer won't down load them) No matter how hard you try to do the right thing with these devices you are going to always have a problem with false negetive readings that are costly and expensive. These high extra fees has nothing at all to do with you trying to beat the system or you drinking and driving. It's the companies setup fees to keep you in their system to get rich off of you. If this equipment is only suppose to detect alcohol contents on your breath while giving a breath simple and it's taking your picture as you are proforming a breath simple. Here is the violation being commetted and why are you being charged a fee and this wrongful violation is still reported to the DMV and your driver's license is revoked until you get a hearing with the Secretary of State. This is a form of double jeopardy that these companies are doing and getting away with and Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device should be investigated by are Legislators/lawmakers for the way they are writting up their lease agreements and ripping consumers off with their shady hidden fees. We all have to stand up and fight against these
Tyoe of businesses. Contact your State Senators, Legislators/Lawmakers. Some one needs to put a stop to these companies taking an advantage sober people trying to get their driving privleges back so that they can live a normal life. I am working with some lawmakers in my state of Michigan and I hope and encourage that you all that are having problems with any of these interlock companies do the same. These companies do not have any right to punish you financially because you made a bad choice. Go at them fight back against them! No matter what these compies are doing wrong to you stay in recovery. My best wishes to you all!

Don't make a DUI more stressful than it needs to be.
Getting a DUI is stressful, and Intoxalock has only made it worse. I should have shopped around more, but Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device were the closest to where I live, and seeing as how I didn't have a drivers license at the time, I wanted to only drive a few blocks to get it installed. I should have just asked someone to drive my car the extra 30 minutes each way to go with a company like Smart Start.

First of all, my original phone call with them lasted over an hour. I understand this isn't like ordering from Amazon or the like. It is definitely more in depth, but an hour seemed extremely long and unnecessary. Also, I was told after signing up for auto-pay, I would receive a mail-in rebate for $100. I never got my rebate in any fashion. Also, I agreed (again, my fault for not shopping around) to pay $80 per month, as well as I $10 protection fee for my device. Many people in my alcohol education classes get their devices from other companies for as low as $60 per month.

A couple days later, I got my device installed for a whopping $125. After getting my device installed, I wasn't able to activate my account online. I called customer service before work one day. After an hour of being transferred from one agent to another, I had to end the call to get to work, I didn't anticipate it taking so long. Two more calls, and many more hours of waiting and being transferred, I basically had to beg an agent to help me. After she had asked me to start my device, she told me it was defective and that I should take it back to the service center. After waiting an hour at the service center the next day, they told me they needed to order a new device as it wasn't broadcasting any signal to Intoxalock. The installation was free, but I really feel like I should have been compensated for the original install for the trouble, I mean I'm dealing with Court, Probation, the DMV, and all other fun parts that come with a DUI. Intoxalock is only adding to the stress.

My new device was installed a few days later, and I do have to admit, it works rather well. From the time I get in my vehicle, I can start the engine in no more that 20 seconds. Even in colder weather, it doesn't usually take long to heat up either. I wish the sound it made for a retest was louder, as you usually can't hear it over the radio. The problems I've had with the device malfunctioning were twice when it kept saying "SYNC!" on the screen. The only information I get online is that it is "syncing with the controller" as if it were updating software I suppose. Twice this has been a constant cycle for hours of it displaying this message over and over. I had to contact customer service and they told me to unplug my car battery for 15 minutes to get it to work again. So all in all, with being on hold with customer service, I was stranded for an hour because of this thing.

Currently I am waiting to get my final download and get this hellacious device out of my car and my life. Do not waste your time with this company. Do not waste your money with this company. I have heard nothing but positive things about Smart Start, so if they are available in your area, i recommend them. I wouldn't recommend Intoxalock to anyone for any reason.

Overcharging fees
Intoxalock is a company that is legit for scamming consumers Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device have a lot of hidden charges that does not relate to alcohol being detected in your breath samples. The machine does give you false negative readings. I have one in my truck after I left the insulation shop which did not give proper training for the use of the device. Minutes after I begin to blow I ended up with a $75 lock out fee and my monthly bill is only $70 per month. Let's make that make sense. A expensive lockout fee when it only took them less than a second to fix the problem. These devices are dangerous to be driving and asking for b breath samples. You have to blow and inhale and blow as you are driving trying to watch the road or you have to pull over quickly to do your breath sample or your going to get a rolling retest fee to get the device restarted. In the cold winter months it takes that advice 2 minutes to warm up once the vehicle is running after you completed your test you cannot leave the vehicle no matter how cold it is outside. Another way to catch you with a violation if you step out of that vehicle while it is running. I go to work at 5:00 a.m. in the morning and it be cold I am 61 years old and have not drink in 14 years but this device said I blow a 0.24 now that's super drunk. They charge you fees for these false reading violations people who live on budgets its impossible to go through such a company whom they know through the experience with the device are putting holes in their pockets and taking advantage of their sobriety the company should be investigated for overcharging people as to why these charges are so costly.
I am speaking with some
Michigan Senators who are looking into this serious problem with the ignition interlock companies overcharging people for their services. We also getting together with the Better Business bureau. To look at why these prices are so costly. You have to stop taking advantage of innocent people who has gave up drinking all together in an effort to get their license back. But your company's make it so hard and difficult with their undercover fees.

DON'T GO WITH INTOXALOCK!
DON'T GO WITH INTOXALOCK!

SINCE I'VE BEEN WITH THEM THE MN DMV HAS PROLONGED MY IGNITION INTERLOCK OVER A YEAR AND A HALF.

There's a bunch of different companies besides INTOXALOCK.

I've been with INTOXALOCK for almost 3 years and have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS.

Customer service is more than unhelpful, there is an unbearable wait time every time you call for assistance. To finally speak with someone who never knows anything. Even the mangers that are supposed to help you never get back with you.

Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device charge you for any mishaps that happen when their breathalyzer is hooked up in you car.

You can't get information one you intial first starts a month. There's no way to count them and they change your start and end dates periodically throughout your term with them.

This company has no morel's or ethics their out to get your money and get you to be on the program as long as they can.

SINCE I'VE BEEN WITH THEM THE MN DMV HAS PROLONGED MY IGNITION INTERLOCK OVER A YEAR AND A HALF.
I've never been dirty and have been sober for 3 years. All because they don't intial starts and not knowing how many I have a month.

I'VE tried for years to get it right with this company to no avail. As Monday I'll be switching companies. I CAN'T WAIT!

I hope this review helps someone
I wish I had done more research before I chose intoxalock

This company makes me think; why am I even trying?
I was charged with my first (and only) DUI in April of 2018 in New Hampshire. After a 12 month license revocation, I was able to get my license back following the installation of an Interlock device. There was An Intoxalock installation center about 15 minutes from my house or a Draager installation center about 60 minutes from my house. Since I couldn't drive at this point, I chose the closer location as a convenience for the person driving me. Dear God, I wish more than anything I could go back and choose the other company. Losing your license is unbelievably stressful on its own but working with Intoxalock has made is so much worse. First of all, it is HUGE and the cord is always getting stuck around the bottom of my seat. Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device say you are supposed to pull over to blow but the device doesn't even give you time to do that. The panic alone from this device going off has almost caused me to get in numerous accidents. It says you have 6 minutes to test again but it honks every minute until you do. One morning, it asked me to do a rolling re test, I tried to blow but it wasnt reading that I was going anything so it kept saying missed retest'. Now I'm sobbing because I'm driving around my neighborhood with my horn honking at 6am as it keeps saying I'm missing the re test. I was too afraid to leave my neighborhood with it going off because I have no idea what would happen if it still didn't read the sample and the re test countdown was done. Finally I had to pull over and shut my car off and start all over. This was one of the many times the device has caused me to be late for work. One of the other great mornings I had with it was when the device was FROZEN INSIDE. Literally NO ONE told me I was able to unplug it and bring the device inside until I called someone that afternoon to try and figure out how i was going to survive a New Hampshire winter with this thing freezing. My saliva was frozen inside the device. Now that is a great way to show how sanitary these devices are. Another thing no one ever explained about this device... sleep mode. I was getting my device calibrated and there was another gentleman in there for his. I was of course complaining about the device killing my battery and he told me about sleep mode. Shouldn't someone explain this to you when you get it? The man that haD installed my device didn't even know about it. My battery has died so many times with this. Finally I got my battery replaced in April-it's now the beginning of May and the device has yet again killed my new battery.

This company isn't here to help people get back on track or be safe drivers. All they care about is money. 75 dollars for you to unlock my device? For someone I had no control over? I get that the DUI is my fault but when I am taking every step to correct the situation, that's just not fair. I have cried more times because of this device than I have in my whole life. This company is the reason why people with DUI's drive without their license. This company is the reason why people with a DUI's feel helpless and hopeless. I'm just trying to get through these last 6 months with this thing and Intoxalock makes me think why am I even trying? Why am I trying when I keep getting punished?' I'm already down and they just keep kicking.

And seriously, you couldn't have made it any more embarrassing? Try to have a little compassion here. I made one mistake two years ago and this company makes me feel like crap about it everyday. Thank you for making me feel horrible every time I get in my car.

Disgusted
As far as nightmares go, Intoxalock gives, "nightmares", a whole new meaning. I spoke to Mo and Mo told me that it would be smart to get this device before I went to court. Mo asked me for card information and said she would start the process. Mo took $51.64 off of my debit card.

As far as getting this device, I decided to wait until after court to see if I would even need this device. I called back a few days later to let them know and Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device told me they would cancel my appointment and they would leave the account on hold until after court. I did not want them doing that, but they assured me that they would refund every penny.

After court, I called to let them know I definitely did not need their device and to please cancel the account and refund my money as they had promised. I talked to multiple agents daily after this, because my money was never refunded. I was hung up on and told that they did not know who I spoke to. They put me on hold, asked me if I found out additional information on who I spoke to, and hung up on me.

Finally, a supervisor assured me that my money would be refunded through a goodwill credit. Keep in mind, this was supposed to be a canceled account. I asked how goodwill credit would get back to me in an account that does not exist? Then, they assured me that it was a refund.

When I got off of the phone, I had an email saying that $51.64 was taken out of my banking account and that I was put on autopay. Every agent and supervisor gave me multiple lies and assured me that everything was taken care of. This is the most horrible business that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. As far as ratings, there is nothing low enough that even exists to rate them. This is a horrible company, horrible customer service, and crooks defines this business perfectly.

THE WORST COMPANY
This is the worst company ever to exist.
For starters you have to go thru the WHOLE menu to speak with a live agent. The live agents are clueless to any of your compliance information, even when Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device ask for your court ordered information. Some of the live agents give you conflicting information about your removal date and removal procedures.
For so many entities to be connected, they don't connect. They charge you fees that nobody went over with you about.
They need to have a better device to work with regarding the plastic mouth piece... either provide a mounting device for the unit or a screw in piece. Its very risky to be driving and the mouth piece falls off and you have to find it.
I pray I never be in this situation to have to use this outfit, because it will be a ABSOLUTE NO!
Lastly this company charges ridiculous prices compared to other gigs. This is like the Waldorf Astoria on Interlock Ignition companies.
Go with another company, so you won't need a frustration counselor behind dealing with them!

Josh Greenfield sales rep/ intoxalock customer care
Josh Greenfield sold me a device with a hole bunch of lies I was told by him as long as I provide the papers that were given to me by them to the dmv I would be able to drive
Let me note my mom is disabled and owns the car that I purchase a device from intoxalock its really big balky and I never new about any of the hidden fees until after I got all the paper work
Now josh told me it was free install lies it was 130$ to install
Josh never told me how long it would take to install i never new until I got the car to the shop
it could take a hole day
After finding all of this out I called to get the interlock uninstalled
Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device said they would not do it with out a probation letter and that I'm on probation
Now with that being said I have completed probation in 2015 and its 2020 now
The main thing here is make sure the rep. Explains everything to you first before you say OK
This would not be such a big deal but my mom is disabled and I have to babies at the house under 2 now the only way we can go anywhere is if we walk or take a cab
Because the dmv would not except the intoxalock paperwork
Let me add its not easy to get ahold of these people I spent over 10 hours on the phone and still got no where along with a doesn't hang ups

It's unfortunate you have to give at least 1 star in order to write a review. They don't deserve it!
Having worked in the customer service industry as a Sr. Manager for 20+ years and for a very large international brand for the last 10... I can tell you that the culture and customer service at INTOXALOCK is, well,

TOXIC.

I have never experienced such blatantly disrespectful, and condescending service in my 40+ years on this planet. For a service representative to feel so comfortable, and emboldened to treat it's customers with this kind of behavior, it leaves me no doubt that it's coming from the highest levels of its leadership.

I'm not at all the type to complain, ask to speak to manager, and especially write a review... This might actually be my first! After having been a customer with In-TOXIC-lock for 4+ years I feel it is my responsibility, now to share how deeply disappointing my experiences have been. I feel embarrassed it has taken me until now to write and express how I have been treated by this 'company'. After reviewing YELP I can see I am far from alone!

Shame on me for continuing to give in-TOXIC-lock my business, but anyone who has been through the experience of installing equipment and balancing the government requirements, knows that it's not easy to manage, especially the costs. Changing from one company to another would be a tremendous hassle. In my honest estimation, I think that in-TOXIC-lock takes advantage of its customers because Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device know this. I certainly have felt abused and taken advantage of. Have you? Because most of their customers and mandated by law to have an interlock device, they feel like they get a pass on quality service. They don't! There are many other interlock providers out there that will take far better care of you.

Before I go on and on, which I easily could... ( I haven't even gone into the details of specific experiences yet!) I'll just say this:

Please trust me!

Do not work with with this 'company'!

Save yourself from the inevitable frustrations that working with this 'company' will give you.

Find ANY 'company' other than IN-TOXIC-LOCK!

I hope this review has been helpful. Thank you.

Intoxilock is a scam
I had an intoxilock device installed in my car at the end of May it shorted out my battery and I was absolutely never able to drive my car until I had the device installed.
Eric my "" customer service agent was so quick to sell me the product and promise everything and offer discounts none of which actually happened then he never responded to any email nor did his boss. And intoxilock customer service is in India and nobody there has any idea how to help you. In fact Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device have flat out lied to me because they don't have any facts.
The intoxilock device is extremely difficult to use it requires you to blow as hard as you can for six seconds out and then three seconds in and then another three seconds out which is absolutely impossible. As a result I was always locked out of my car. The device requires you to blow like every couple minutes so when you're driving around and you literally cannot blow hard enough to keep your device moving it is a safety hazard.
I was promised a weekly rate and the actual rate that they are charging my card is double that which I was promised. There are many additional fees!
I am extremely unhappy with intoxilock and I had the device uninstalled. Intoxilock was a complete waste of money and time

This is a horrible product
This is a horrible product. I had one installed in my vehicle for over a year before switching to another brand. I won't mention the brand I switched to, because I don't want to sound like a shill. I've had the misfortune of having used different breathalyzers from sheriff's deputies, state troopers, jails, work release, pre-trial services, probation and home detention, and this "brick of spit" is by far the most shoddy, cumbersome and impossible to please POS I've had to deal with. And it killed my battery, which Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device took no responsibility for. This sentiment was shared by the dozens and dozens of people in my classes, "counseling" sessions and institutions of incarceration that I've dealt with over the last 22 months. I had so many problems with it telling me to "blow harder" and "invalid sample" that I came close to blacking out trying to appease this thing. I was locked out three continuous days while traveling even after another (third or fourth) new unit was installed. After constantly calling them I was finally put through to a "supervisor" after getting no help from "customer service" and explained that the unit was causing me to have near-accidents and posed a liability to my safe driving when he said "When can we schedule to have it removed?" I made an appointment to do so with Intoxalock's authorization at which time the service company that installed, calibrated and removed it told me they were dropping their affiliation with Intoxalock because of too many complaints and problems. One week later I received a letter from the DMV telling me that my driving privileges were suspended and Intoxalock did not have the authority to order its removal prior to the court sentenced period. Did Intoxalock not know this? How could they not? Horrible product. Horrible "customer service" and unethical business practices. I highly recommend you don't waste money, time, driving frustration and danger with this inferior POS. I wish I hadn't.

Do not use this company.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

I've had an intoxalock device installed to my car for under 3 months and so far it has cost me almost $2,000 in car repairs. And counting, Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device still can't seem to find the issue. Also I have missed so much work that I'm about to lose my job and my apartment. I am the office manager of the company I work for. I have to open the door every morning for 5 employees. If I don't make it to work, those 5 employees can't work. So this is a really really really big problem for me. So far I have missed 6 days of work due to this unit. (In 2 months)

I can never get through to anybody that knows what they are talking about. I've sent multiple emails and can't even get a response. They haven't even responded to my emails from months ago... I call the help line and wait on hold for 20 minutes to get hung up on. If you ask the customer service for somebody higher up they will not connect you to anybody. They won't even provide you with an accurate email to contact the right person. When you ask customer service the correct email, they reply "what do you want that for " or "you can talk to me"...

When I first got this thing installed, my car wouldn't start properly. It seemed the intoxalock was draining my battery. They advised me to get a battery charger and a battery jump starter. They also advised me to start my car a few times a day. I bought that stuff and followed directions. Didn't help. Soon my car bagan to randomly start worse. Meaning sometimes it starts on the first key turn and sometimes it takes 20 key turns. (Or more) Ive sat in my car for 10-15 minutes at a time trying to get it to start about 50 times. It got to be so common that it almost felt normal. Eventually It got worse and worse until the car would not start at all. Had to get it towed to their service center at this point.

Within a month of having this thing installed it killed my car battery. I had to get a new one installed at their service center. (Charged me $300.) Couple weeks later my car stops working again. Get it towed to the service center, this time they say its the starter. Got a new starter installed. ($675) Car works for 4 days then dies again. Get it towed back to the shop. This time they say its the battery. (keep in mind i just bought a new one a month ago). Get the new battery. ($375) Car works for a week then stops working again. Now they are saying they don't know what it is.

I dropped off my car for intoxalock inspection at one of their maintenance centers. They had my car there from 9 am to 5 pm, called me 5 minutes before close to tell me they "think" its my starter. So we schedule a starter installation. They have my car all day again. At the end of the day they call to tell me the starter wasn't the issue. They said they switched the starter and the car still wouldn't start. They advised me to change the battery which I did. Now here's the kicker. 3 weeks later when the car finally dies I get it towed to a new shop. They say its the starter. I inform them the other service center switched the starter and it didn't work. The new shop insists that it would work so I went with it. Guess what. The starter did in fact work. Sooooo basically the first intoxalock repair shop had my car for 2 days for nothing. They knew it was the starter and couldn't even properly install it. They probably tried to install a junk yard starter, who knows. All I know is they are a joke of a maintenance shop. I'll never take my car there again. Ideal Auto in Hanover is the name of the shop that tried to install a starter and couldn't even get it right...

At one point I tried to take my car to the Ford dealership because I don't think their specialists are capable or qualified to fix my car. Ford told me they won't look at it with the intoxalock installed. I called intoxalock to request a temporary removal. I was informed someone would contact me with 2 days with an answer. Well that was almost a month ago, guess what, still no response on that one... (lol, w. T. f?)

Intoxalock says its not on them. The car service center says its not them. Well who is it on? I can not afford any more car repairs due to this unit, and trust me, you can't either. I had it towed to the intoxalock maintenance shop and now they are saying they can't look at it for a week. What am I supposed to do?

My car had an immaculate service record before having the intoxalock unit installed. I only had to change the oil and the brake pads so far. I get the unit installed and Im in the shop 5 times in 2 months? $2,000 in repairs in under 2 months? This is ridiculous. And trying to get through to somebody is even more ridiculous.

If you made it this far, please take my advice and run. You can not afford intoxalock.

AWFUL COMPANY
These people are disgusting criminals. Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device will treat you with respect when you are a customer. When it comes time for removal, they will treat you with no respect. I had some nasty midwestern witch over the phone charge me $108 for removal, intentionally decline to give me a tracking number for my 922 form for the DMV, and after following all the rules with the device and calling a week ahead of removal, I was told by the service center that they didn't send the 922. There is no reason I couldn't have received a tracking number. They charged me for 15 days when I had 4 days left on my last billing period. After making over $1000 off of me they treated me like I am worthless when time for removal came. I have tried calling twice to get the tracking number for my 922 and the customer service representatives cut me off mid-conversation when they realize I'm not a new customer and transfer me to a line where I am put on hold for 30 minutes, talk to a nasty person, and get put on hold again. This experience was a nightmare. Let alone the device I had for 8 months was distracting when it asked for breath samples while driving. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE CRIMINALS.

Impossible to Contact Someone
The main website offers an array differing numbers and boasts 24/7 access to a customer service representative. Yet as soon as you are logged into your account, which all links to any kind of support inevitably lead you, there is no portal to access a customer service representative. Either all the links simply do not function, or Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device lead you to a basic form to fill out which states you will be contacted by a representative within 24 hours. Which of course never happened. There is no button or link for customer service information contained within the iPhone App, an app that was so highly touted throughout their webpage and marketing material.

This left me with no option but to call. Each of the phone numbers listed all lead to the same automatic phone system, which turns out to be just as an infuriating. The option to actually speak to a representative is not given unless a very specific sequence is followed: you must not answer the question of why you are calling for three consecutive times (I just pressed a random number or waited) until it brings you a menu that offers billing, calibration, etc; you must then state that you are calling about something else; and in the next menu state that you're calling about your lease; only then is the option to talk to a representative presented. After spending considerable time ending up in dead end loops that forced me to hang up, call back and try something different, I finally reached a representative only to have them pick up and immediately hang up the phone. I called back and followed the same process, this time talking to the representative for several minutes. As I was voicing my frustration about the difficulty in contacting someone I was hung up on again; and then three additional and subsequent times following that in which the agent again simply picked up the ringing phone and hung it back up.

I was so frustrated at that point the person on the other end of the line, who was clearly working from phone bank in India, almost immediately transferred me to an account specialist. I informed the specialist why there was a harsh tone in my voice and attmpeted to apologize from the outset to mitigate any more problems, but my apology and recognition that this issue was not because of them fell on def ears; as I was also talked down to and treated very rudely.

The Intoxaloc system is geared to prevent people from reaching a representative while they boast ease of access to unwitting people who are forced to use their product. They extol an Industr First Smartphone App that does offer some conviences to the user, but is ultimately just another gatekeeper as another method for the comapny to keep the people forced to use their service at arms bay. The pictures included are not duplicates, I attached the code in attempt to show that the help section button brings you back into the log in page you were at prior. Once you login, you are then directed back to the page you left. Their entire web and phone operation is a circular maze designed to ensure that only the very, very persistent are able to navigate it. And even for the few that crack the code, you will only be greeted by curt and rude people. Although I guess I might be rude to if I worked for a company that did this, because I know I am not the only one that has been fuming by the time an actual agent was reached.

Terrible service and a bad product
I had my device removed today after 3 months. Despite the installer providing instructions and a manual, trust me you will have issues in the beginning with the operation. You will be stressed out and looking for help. The customer service is terrible for a number of reasons. It generally takes about 20 minutes for someone to answer the phone. On various issues I received either conflicting information or inaccurate information. Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device refuse to transfer you to a supervisor or the compliance dept. The device itself will drain your battery. I had to replace the battery on a 2020 MDX due to the device which thankfully was under warranty. Starting the car after driving was a continual problem and I got no help fixing the problem. I eventually bought a solar charger that seemed to help. The biggest problem is with removal. NOTE: Based on my experience it is virtually impossible to have the device removed on your court appointed date. Because of that they charge you for an extra month and do not prorate the lease extension. They charge a $70 fee to end your lease? There was also a $112 removal fee from the installer. NO MATTER WHAT COMPANY YOU CHOSE UNDERSTAND THE REMOVAL PROCESS COMPLETELY PRIOR TO YOUR END DATE. I DOUBT ANY COMPANY COULD BE WORSE.

Scamming You for as Much Money as They Can
READ YOUR LEASE CAREFULLY!

Seriously, you need to read your lease agreement. One week after your final payment your lease will expire. If you need to extend the lease, you'll instantly be charged a new lease fee and a setup fee, despite that your account is already active in their system. Furthermore, Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device charge you monthly for a "device protection plan," yet if the device is ever damaged or lost, you still owe them the full cost of the device - so what's the protection plan for except additional revenue and profits? Section 11 of the lease is particularly interesting, in which they state that if you ever disagree with any aspect of the lease, you are in default, and must immediately return your device, pay a lease cancellation fee, AND continue paying through the end of your original lease. So... if you're continuing to pay through the end of the lease, what's the cancellation fee for?

First experience ever…
Customer service here at this company does not exist. After Colleen and schedule an appointment to have my device installed and give them my credit card number, that's where it stops Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device got the money and you get no service other than a device that is faulty and flawed. If you wish to receive customer service I need to ask him questions. Call the line like you are a new customer, and they will answer. My device registered me positive for being under the influence and then four minutes later registered me clean, how does that make sense. Overlook I Bluetooth a device started at my vehicle, I was drinking some tea and then the device went off I blew I was Jodie one point over. Four minutes later I blew clean, how does that make sense. I called up the company as I was a new customer and of course they after the phone like they're going to receive money. I explained my situation the representative acknowledged it and said that she understands is it a refund will be issued. Which leads me to assume that I am not the only one. I called back for my refund spoke with a supervisor within 10 seconds I was told no, don't know how she looked at my file that quickly but OK. The only thing that I could think is to acknowledge that their device has a flaw is to acknowledge that the system does not work and that's credibility to the courts. Even though I put myself in the situation which I do acknowledge my money is good customer service should be as good. The system comes highly not recommend it.

HORRIBLE
The units are faulty. I don't drink. I do not like alcohol, I haven't since I first tried it. So I rarely ever have a drink. At first it was a great excuse so people wouldn't push drinks on me. I am the sole driver since the one who was charge with this device, cannot drive due to a suspended license, and he hasn't even used the device once. I'm not even the one who has to use it. It's failed me in the middle of a road trip after many passed tests, before the fail, and right after the fail. And now that we're almost finished we received a Vol 11 which is an unauthorized start... how does that even happen? Well idk either, you can't start it without using the intoxalock... the company is bull$#*! and their service reps are the worst customer service employees I've ever met. I've worked in customer service for years, never have I met so many representatives who don't help you. Everything is your fault, intoxalock can do no wrong. It sickening to think about all the people that intoxalock has screwed over.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Horrible customer service -repeatedly kills battery/charges for lock out-
I have been trying for almost 2 weeks to get a compliance report that I need for the court. Each and every time I am told 24-48 hours, and that it will "now' be expedited... and... nothing. I am then contacted for BASIC information (10 days later) regarding the county and court case number, which should have been requested from the start. Another delay. I was told specifically earlier this week I would have the report no later than Wed (Its Friday today). Each and every time I am on the phone or chat online no less than an hour. Each and every time, Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device "resolve" the issue and still no report. Yet they have no issue billing me right on time. Had they processed this request in a timely manner, I would not have been billed this last time (device should be removed by now). Sigh. I cannot seem to speak directly to the compliance dept, or get a hold of a supervisor. Its crap. Frustrating and an abuse of paid for services.
Extremely unhappy.

Update: after reading the other reviews I realized the same thing has happened to me. Repeated draining of my battery and being charged for unnecessary lock outs. I wish I would have read the reviews 1st.

Do yourself a favor and go with someone else.

STAY AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE
Intoxalock shows all great reviews while other unaffiliated sites paint a much grimmer picture of Intoxalock. This is no surprise given the shady business practices of Intoxalock.

STAY AWAY Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device are Crooks!

I'd give Intoxalock a Zero rating if it was an option. If you have the luxury of having a choice of interlock providers where you live, DO NOT use Intoxalock!
I'll tell you what I found good about Intoxalock. Gage, the sales guy, that sold me the service with Intoxalock was very helpful and friendly. He made getting the ball rolling painlessly. That is where the joy ended, and the nightmare began.
Now the reasons not to use Intoxalock!
The device is huge. Others have better devices that will not cause you more grief than you are already going through. Unless you have a very large console in your vehicle there is no concealing it. The device looks and operates like they got the parts from Radio Shack and built it in their garage. The operation of the Intoxalock interlock device is very erratic. Sometimes it will sample and give you a green light in seconds other times it takes as much as 45 seconds before you can start your car. The mouthpiece often pops off and goes bouncing around and under the seat. This makes for a very dangerous situation if you are doing a rolling retest.
Good luck training yourself the proper way to blow into the device (how hard and for how long). A good 30% of the time it will error saying that you are not blowing hard enough or blowing to hard. It will then display "try again" 6 times for about 15 seconds. Sometimes you need to blow so hard that you get lightheaded. If you get a sick while having the device on your Vehicle. Be prepared to be sick the entire time. The chamber that you blow through is so long that it will harbor the pathogens and you will re-infect yourself.
If you live in a cold climate, the device will freeze solid preventing you from blowing through the device. It took 45 min. For Tech support to answer. Their less than brilliant solutions are laughable. Their advice was to make sure the device is stored vertically to prevent moisture from pooling in the device and freezing. This seemed logical to me until I realized that the design of the device prevents you from doing so. Then they recommended that I store the device in an oven mit. At 10 below zero this is useless!
The interlock device would randomly show a "weather" delay and start a 2 to 3 min warming up timer. At temperatures below zero there was no warm-up timer. 38 degrees it would delay with a warm-up timer. It was a crap shoot if this would or would not happen.
The cable connecting the device to your car is short. Causing you to lean down when blowing. Again, this creates a very dangerous situation when doing a rolling retest.
Intoxalock will do the good ole Bait and Switch on you. Lure you in with rebates and then once they got you held hostage Intoxalock will get you in the end. Intoxalock does not prorate monthly leases. Meaning if you have the device installed on your vehicle for 1 min more than your lease, you pay for another entire month. Example: If you are required to have the device on your vehicle for 6 months, you will be required to pay 7 months lease. This is because you cannot have the device removed until the State allows it. States count the Days the device is installed, and Intoxalock lease is monthly. Doesn't matter how many days are in that month. It is impossible to have the device removed before Intoxalock charges you another month lease. Interlock will also short you days on your last state required calibration. This will force you to pay for and take the time to do an unnecessary re-calibration. If you request to have all the data that they downloaded from your device for your records. It will force you to pay an extra $25.00 due to the unrequited calibration download.
STAY AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE

The perfect con artists
Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device offer you all of these great deals to get you to sign up with their company for your IID. DONT do it! I switched from lifesaver thinking I was getting a better deal, then I found out on top of the 70 a month I have to pay for the device I also have to pay 30 out of my own pocket every 2 months for recalibration, which was included with lifesafers price, ao really I'm paying 85 a month, now I'm almost done with my time with this device and they just told me I have to pay 30 for 2 months of recalibration and pay 70 for a new whole month of service when I get my device uninstalled 15 days after that…So I'm paying for 2 months of service just for 15 days, then they tell me I have to pay 150 for the uninstall and on top of that there is a 68 dollar administration fee when you end the contract… WOW, truly a greedy scamming company. Once you sign their contract there is nothing you can do. Go with a different company!

Numerous Problems - Horrible Customer Service - Go Somewhere Else If At All Possible
Have had Intoxalock almost a year, had NUMEROUS problems with the unit and their customer service is HORRIBLE. When I first contacted them to inquire about pricing and installation I was told the installation would be free and the service would run around $90 per month. Scheduled installation at Car Toys in Hurst, lost a days work waiting for unit to be installed then when I pick my truck up I'm hit with a bill for $165 plus another $130 for shipping. Had to have my truck for work so I coughed up the money then after several phone calls and bad customer reviews Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device finally refunded my money. Today I try to start my truck and the unit keeps displaying "Waiting for RB to reset" then does a 5 minute countdown, then repeats the process again. Supposed to work today and am out over $1100 for not being able to make it to job. Called Intoxalock for tech support and they say the unit needs to be replaced, that I have to have my truck towed AT MY EXPENSE to Car Toys to have the unit replaced. Car Toys has units in stock "for new customers" but Intoxalock won't allow them to assign them to an existing customer that is has a faulty unit and is unable to go to work because of their faulty unit. They tell me I have to wait at least another two days for them to ship a new unit out and schedule replacement. Bottom line is I'm going to be out at least three days work along with tow charges because of their faulty equipment and their horrible customer service. They have equipment on hand for new customers foolish enough to sign on with them, but they won't allow it to be used to make things right with existing customers

Terrible!
I was very unsure of the process of interlock. I received a looked like pretty legit PA licensed paper with numbers on how to regain license. Clayton answered looked at my case said great you can go get it installed. Sent all forms into penndot that Clayton said I needed to send in. He failed to mention or ask me if a restoration letter was sent to me from penndot giving me eligibility, so I assumed I was eligible! Got it installed and penndot just sent a letter I can't get limited license for 5 months! I asked him what is the FIRST step? And he claims I was eligible but obviously not! This thing is puting me through hell more than the dui itself. The thing also drained my battery so I got locked out this is such BS! I have since been trying to get a hold of someone and NO ONE ANSWERS OR TRANSFERS CORRECTLY! I HATE THIS COMPANY! Trust me do not use this company. I have spent a $#*! ton getting damn thing installed just have it taken out TAKING MY MONEY worst experience I've had with ANY company! Intoxalock® Ignition Interlock Device do not follow up they take your money then you Never hear from them again. Anyone know a number I could call to speak to a higher up? Please!
