Why Selling To Them Is Troublesome
I used them to sell my entire CD collection. The prices quoted are ridiculously unfair but I accept musicMagpie are a business and it was my decision to sell. The convenience of a courier pick up was what swayed me.

They had 426 CDs from me and were collected by Hermes on the agreed day (note they give you a 12 hour window for pick up so you will need to spend the day waiting)

After 7 days - that's how long Hermes take to get them to Music Magpie. It is not as quick as they pretend on the ads - I was contacted saying 7 of the CDs were missing. 7. Out of 426. It came to less than a fiver. I couldn't be bothered to argue and accepted payment minus 7 though on the feedback I did say there was no way 7 were missing as it was my entire collection. To their credit they gave the additional few pennies after receiving this.

The second time I had a few DVDS, games, books, etc that I would normally give to charity but since we are in lockdown I thought I would use Music Magpie again just to de-clutter.

Hermes were fine (except the aforementioned 12 hour window) and a week later Music Magpie emailed and said my payment would go through the next day as they received my parcel before 2pm. EIGHT days later and after me chasing it daily they have finally coughed up. No explanation as to why it was late, no apology. Just standard email responses of they were looking into it.

It's just not good enough that twice now something that is advertised as next day payment and so simple really isn't.

Don't use unless you want to be short changed.
I have used multiple companies that buy dvds and music magpie has to be the worst.

MusicMagpie declined two dvds as they indicated they were damaged (I have previously verified them on my pc), one conveniently was the most valuable one and the other was probably the next most valuable.

Nice Try Music Magpie, never ones to let a pandemic stop you from fleecing people.

If you are thinking of selling your dvds, avoid. WeBuyBooks and Ziffit are much better options.

I have only left one star because you can't leave a 0,

DONT TRUST THIS PEPOLE... Order no: 3440673
I Sent my iPhone 6 Plus when musicMagpie offered to pay me £260. Today I got email from them saying that the iPhone faulty and want to buy it for £40. My iPhone in v good condition and working perfectly I sent it with the orginal box and charger. I called costumer service and I told him that my daughter took a video when We were boxing the phone and sent it and I can sent to him, he said yes ur iPhone is working and not faulty but there's a few secrache on the secreen and on the back of the phone!

Now I am waiting to get my iPhone back and I hope that they wil send it as it is!

NEVER TRUST THIS PEPOLE

Approach Music Magpie with caution
By way of an update to my earlier review, MM responded to my complaint by providing a photo of my iPad that does show a defective pixel, whether this warrants them dropping offer from £290 to £25 I'll leave for you to decide, and wouldn't it of been easier for them to provide this photo with their counter offer of £25 in the first place, as an engineer myself I also wonder what stress test my machine underwent when being tested by MM, all of this is now irrelevant as I took the machine to CEX who graded it as a "A" and gave me £200 cash

Con artists
Sent two phones in near perfect condition. Both valued at £40. Received a revised offer of £4 for both saying musicMagpie had LCD damage. The LCD's are perfect on both. I've declined the revised offer and I'm hoping they they are returned to me packaged with the same care as when I sent them. Made the mistake of reading review sites such as trustpilot where negative reviews have been removed. Having read similar reviews on here I'm going to try taking them to CEX. It's disgusting that a company this high profile can attempt these transparent tactics. I'm just grateful that I'm not selling out of desperation for quick cash. Will never waste my time with them again.

NOTHING BUT A SCAM
Got a quote for my imac computer £240, just thought I would sell it as flat to small! Packed it mega securely with bubble wrap loads of tape with 2 big labels FRAGILE and THIS WAY UP - 9 days later £48 as cracked screen and bent casing! After numerous emails the last one saying its not the courier as box is in tact, so I said well that confirms it really -as it was almost perfect when I handed it to courier and as well looked after (I wish I had given to someone now who wld of liked it as much as I did) I hv declined their offer and oddly enough it will arrive back to me within 3 days! She asked if I had photos but stupidly I trusted them and thought the advert on TV says a MM courier comes to collect so why would I think it would get damaged! TOTAL SCAM AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN..

Alleged liquid damage to screen
Just got my iPad back from music magpie, musicMagpie had offered me £290 for it, only for this to be reduced to £25 due to liquid damage, initially I thought maybe the post office had dropped it in a puddle or something as I'd posted it in brand new condition, sky had offered me a new one for £11 per month with data so it made sense for me to sell my old one, iPad came back today covered in dirty finger marks but otherwise undamaged no sign of any water damage, so I took it into town and was offered £188 for it main reason for taking it was for another person to look at it, but they found no damage, I think the price has probably dropped due due to 7th gen coming out and MM no longer wanting to pay £290 either that or the inspection department toad was trying to grab himself a cheap iPad, I've sold a few things before to MM without issue, I emailed them to say it wasn't damaged but got fobbed off with a nonsense reply

I would not touch them
I had two Apple iPods which I bought to store pop and classical music on. MusicMagpie weren't like the old iPods as music storage was limited because of camera space etc. The iPods were as new as I'd never really used them and they were housed in leather cases. I entered the details online and was offered £55 each. I sent one away and on receipt they emailed me to say they were only prepared to pay me £40 each. So I asked for a return which duly arrived but without the leather case! I would never deal with such shysters!

Absoulutely Shocking

That's my TrustPilot review, their response and my further response.

To sum up - musicMagpie sent me a phone which completely ceased to function. I sent it back and I want a refund. Because the phone didn't die within 30 days they have fixed and returned to me (despite me contacting them to tell them not to) the original phone. I have zero confidence that a company who say they send out phones which "function perfectly" and which have apparently made it through being "quality assessed" and so I don't want their replacement, I want a phone which I have confidence in and trust to work, which is not one from this company. They have accepted the fault is their's but have still left me out of pocket and penalised. The 30 days in immaterial, in that the product sent was not fit for purpose.
Save yourself time and effort and go elsewhere. I eventually managed to get a reply to them AFTER I posted a review on TrustPilot which says that they think more about their external reputation than they do about my actual customer experience.
Or tie two tin cans together with string, because that will work better than my phone did.

Watch out - Dodgy company about
In December I sent an Ipad Pro 12.9 inch third generation 256 GB to Music Magpie. It was in really good condition and functioned perfectly. I sent it with the original box and wiring. I was offered £510 for the Ipad. However, I received a message with a revised offer of £107 because the item was not as described! Curious because the week before CEX had assessed the same Ipad as working perfectly and in very good condition. I asked for the Ipad to be returned. It arrived covered in finger marks, I had to clean it. I thought extra cleaning precautions were necessary in a pandemic Terrible service and I think the ‘assessment' was a scam so a very low price could be paid. Avoid at all costs!

Another unhappy customer!
Only giving 1 star because I can't give 0! My son sent his immaculate PS4 in it's original packaging with all cables and controller. He was only selling it because he now has a PS5. He was expecting £100 for it so had already earmarked the money to buy a new controller and a charging dock for his PS5. After patiently waiting we get an email today saying that the console is faulty and doesn't read discs so his offer was changed to £9! It was working perfectly when it left us and was packaged safely in it's original box! After declining the ridiculous offer and arguing back and forth on the chat we're now waiting for our console to be returned exactly as we sent it to them in it's original box. MusicMagpie said the original box may not be returned as they didn't request it! So our perfect, pristine console is likely to be sold on in it's original, serial number matching box and we'll get back a faulty one chucked in a plain box! Please steer clear!

Horrible! Stay away!
Horrible!
Have bought various times over the years (lured back only due to price or if musicMagpie are the only ones selling a book at a reasonable price) but what was once fine standard wise has gone downhill in every way...
Items nearly always arrived damaged & NOT as described & to make matters WORSE, 'customer service staff' are dismissive & will at BEST offer only a fixed 5 pound refund or push to send the item back (even if postage puts you out double or more to do).
Points/facts raised will NOT be considered or addressed.
Horrendous all in all & can't say i'll ever use them again.

DO NOT BUY!
DO NOT BUY! I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company in my life. After guaranteeing next day delivery on their site, my phone which I paid over £600 for got lost in the mail I understand this was the fault of Royal Mail but as a company musicMagpie have refused to offer me any solution. After being without a phone for week which was the time frame I was told I had to await formally (without offering any assistance in the meantime) they are now refusing to tell me what my next steps as Royal Mail have officially lost the phone.
They take your money and then absolve themselves of any responsibility. Beware when buying! Their customer service is horrible... chat function does not work and no phone. Buy elsewhere!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I sent in a perfectly functioning phone and I was quoted £340 this was then reduced to £90 as the phone was supposedly faulty and there was a crack on the screen causing dead spots. As you can see that is not the case. This company is good at quoting high prices to lure you in then drastically reduce the price for no valid reason. MusicMagpie also seem to have fake positive reviews on trust pilot they also flag all the negative reviews so that they disappear. Find a more trustworthy company to sell your goods!

AVOID! HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE (please read to protect yourself!)
Bought an Apple Watch from them.

Two weeks in, watch died. Completely lifeless, wouldn't accept a charge. Sent it back using their packaging etc.

MusicMagpie told me that the serial number on the watch didn't match the one they had sent me!?!? I only owned the one watch, bought from them and sent it back to them! They effectively accused me of fraud!

Gets even worse. They then say they will send my watch back to me,... but they never have. This was a month ago now. I have no watch and they have not issued a refund. Their phone number no longer accepts calls, and every time you email, you get a brand new person "thanking you for for your email" and "it will get looked into etc".

What they didn't quite have the guts to accuse me of was fraud. How they have acted is CRIMINAL.

Do NOT take the risk with them. To receive some tech from them, it not to work and then them say serial numbers don't match "according to their spreadsheet" absolutely floored me.

Just avoid them and their poor Admin and terrible customer services!

DVD lash up.
I found a copy of the exorcist 3, collectors edition on music magpie. I was delighted! Been looking for ages for this version! However, neither of the two discs worked in either of my players. I returned the FAULTY goods as asked, paid for postage, but still no refund. I've sent dozens of messages now. All musicMagpie say is "take it up with eBay". Will never use them again! All for the sake of a ten pound dvd. Absolutely rubbish service. 1 out 10 from me.

Impossible to speak took
I bought a last week for my daughters 11th birthday and is supposed to be locked to EE, unfortunately when she tried to put her SIM card in it was rejected as the phone is locked to another network. I just want a replacement sent to my daughters house and you can pick up the other phone at the same time. It's been days now and your phone line doesn't work and reply's on emails seem to be incredibly slow. Maybe some kind of discount or compensation is in order too. The main thing is my daughter gets her birthday present I paid for In good faith! Complaint-Reference-MC2607449 R

Scam artists
Recently sent a LGK8 to music magpie and was offered £17.00. The phone was working well and I used it a few days before I sent it. A few days later, music magpie emailed to tell me that the SIM port was faulty, and reduced my offer to £1.70. I rang to in to query this, since the phone was working before, and musicMagpie said my only option was to accept or decline the offer. Declined, and guess what? I have just received my phone back in full working order, as I sent it. I put my Tesco Mobile SIM back in, sent a text and made a phone call. I called customer services again and they still refused to reconsider the offer or apologise for their error. Neither staff members even deviated from their script to listen to my problem, nor were they able to suggest any solutions. Do not send your phone here. They will hook you in with a good price and then knock it down.

Non-existent Quality Control
Over the last 10 years I have bought over 60 cds from this company, including its previous incarnations as e-stocks (eBay) and Zoverstocks (Amazon). I am a big music collector and so in a good position to judge their service compared with other companies. In my opinion I think musicMagpie are being protected by eBay because of the volume of custom they bring. I cannot judge them as a purchaser of items.

The first thing to note is that there is no meaningful quality control: 'very good' discs are often scratched or dirty. At least a tenth are virtually unplayable. I have simply received refunds in those occasions because there is clearly no profit in returning a faulty disc. Often the sale figure is low and I suspect their business operation is just a numbers game with the acceptance of some refunds.

However, I recently bought a Handel 3-disc opera for a far more substantial amount of money. 2 of the discs were missing plus the booklet. I received a free post address to return it, which I did the same day. After two weeks no refund, and eBay has closed the case because I took too long to return it.

I am seriously considering abandoning eBay, but I have certainly bought my last disc from Music Magpie. It has been fascinating to read these reviews. From my long-time experience, their quality control was never good. But as they have become more successful the operation seems to be more of a scam

Amazing and oh, sorry I meant appalling...
Well, what can I say Music Magpie. I had an iPhone 7, still had the original box and accessories and it was pristine.

Quoted me £86.00 online and tried 3 times to book a courier, which never arrived. Took to a ParcelShop, in it's original box, wrapped in protective packaging and boxed again.

MusicMagpie contacted me today to say the phone is smashed, front and back and missing the home button. Went on Live Chat and 4 people cut me off when I tried complaining. They then emailed me saying ‘Tech' say I sent a broken phone and the box is intact. They say the phone is worthless and smashed so will send back. Went back on Live Chat, was told it was my fault and their team are ‘professionals'

Professional robbers? Professional Liars? Who knows

Either way, if this review saves 1 person using them then that's enough, but the most unprofessional, bad mannered people I've ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs
