I marked 3 stars because I ordered without creating an account which wasn't very clear as I thought id have to make an account before my purchase any way, maybe partly my fault as well for getting carried away with what I was ordering with all the excitement, but when asking if the loyalty points of my purchase could be added to my newly created account after purchase NitroTek told me they unfortunately they couldn't add them.
I am ready to spend more cash and have a lot I would have liked to purchase but have been put off slightly due to the after purchase/sales and the slow replies from the help only being online. The tracking number I was given didn't work and felt a bit in the dark about my purchase. Reading some reviews made me a bit paranoid. All that said I am sure they can improve this and think I would order again from Nitrotek especially if they have what I need!
My Order #130012497
2. If ringing for after sales service, you get put onto a sort of 'read the website/automated service' type phone message. Whereas if you are ringing to make and order you get through to a human rather quickly - I haven't any call for after sales service (I hope), but this handling of customers gave me a bad image of the company right from the start. Had I not been in a hurry I'd have looked elsewhere for the product. Testing after sales access before I buy is my usual way of vetting a company before ordering. I like to deal with humans.
3. Naming a price on a UK website without including VAT (such that pricerunner etc that then picks it up at the untaxed price) is a nasty trick to get people to your site. I'm not actually sure it's legal when offering goods for sale retail, but either way it's poor practice - yes it got my custom this time, but given a choice of anywhere else subsequently with similar prices, I'd probably buy elsewhere just on principle now.
4. When ordering it is not immediately clear what the postage price will be: I filled in a lot of info and made an order before it was refused when I clicked 'purchase', only to find the reason was that I had not been offered the postal service choices so the price was not yet made inclusive (as I later worked out after ringing/being confused by the refusal and what may have happened). So I had to do it all again and found that £6 plus was being added postage (plus VAT on postage, too). I wouldn't have been loath to pay that, but would have liked that, or a price example at least, up front.
5. A 'pick up free' service is offered - great, but it's not immediately clear which one it is/how extensive it is, so that one can see straightaway whether it's one I would use by choice or not, though it becomes clear later in the ordering process.
6. In the payment section it asks for 'credit card payment' or PayPal. Great, but when one prefers to use a debit card, one wonders if such is accepted... so why not (quite reasonably) entitle the section "credit/debit cards" or "card payment" so it's immediately obvious, or at least not more or less contra-indicated?
7. You get offered £5 for a review, take the time to write a considered review, then find that you have to sign up for ReviewFeeder. What that spies on, aims at me, how intrusive or not it is or not is an unknown, but I certainly was not expecting that kind of crap for my £5 - no advance warning. I'd never have done it had I known, but I'll post this to warn others - just lost another star there NitroTek... very poor!
I am trying to get a refund under the companies well publicised 14 day no quibble returns policy. UTTER CRAP! NitroTek are not interested in helping you when things don't work, they are putting up barriers to giving my money back, they don't care about how upset my son is and ruining his birthday. There has no been one word of apology or remorse from them. They really don't give a damn once they take your money. OMAR FARRA is the director running this cowboy outfit.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN OR HIS COMPANIES, UTTER IGNORANT COWBOYS!
Order # 100036544
I purchased a nitro RC car for my sons birthday. The string from the starter unit pulled through as the knot holding it in place was too small.
After requesting a replacement unit under warranty I was told these items do not come with a Warranty? And that I must have broken this as this is a common beginner issue. This is not the case as the car was taken to a family friend who builds and races these vehicles. The string did not break it pulled out due to faulty factory assembly.
I requested a new part and was told to either try and reassemble it or buy a new one, NitroTek did provide instructions - How very helpful.
I am appalled that this is the response I have received. The item is not expensive but 1) why should I have to fix this myself or pay to replace a faulty part, and 2) if I do purchase a new part how can I trust this disgraceful company to provide a part that is fit for purpose.

Easy web site to navigate. Was happy with transaction. Just needed it to be delivered so had to review again as delivery wasn't as smooth as online purchase... Not so happy now. Fuel provided leaked from an apparently sealed bottle all over everything in box. Drove once with 1/10 scale model and its never started again. Contacted this company but no joy, loads of replies but no mention of getting it sorted. Internet only company. No customer service to talk to. One needs to email everything but gets no real positive responses. Made me feel like I did something wrong. I will never recommend or use this lot ever again. Most expensive paper weight I've ever purchased yet. STAY AWAY! Go to a real model RC shop, deal with real people face to face.
Now, there is no way to call them (the first sign of a dodgy setup), NitroTek not replying to my mails, have refused to refund me and now I've got absolutely no idea what is happening after dealing with these morons for 4 months.
Dishonest business ethics, bully's, horribly to nonexistent communication, vague and evasive mail replys. In general - a horrid bunch to deal with.
Stay way clear of these people - rather spend more somewhere else where you have peace of mind.
I've been racing RC cars since 17 and now I'm 37 and the car wasn't fit for purpose! Very poorly made and I sent product back fully packaged within the return date.
Nearly 2 months later and countless emails I'm being ignored and feel like I've been totally robbed by this company.
I would advise anyone not to use this company it is so hard getting answers and feeling like I'm never going to get my money back.
Avoid this company at all costs never dealt with such a unprofessional company ever!
Buyers you have been warned!
Regarding the quadcopter I purchased, it has never flown and it never would
Have I let a friend exam it who builds and maintains his own quads as now do.
He tried to hover it and it came flying back at him as one of the motors had failed again.
Very experienced quad pilot so knew what to do and avoided injury.
This product was a worthless piece of junk and my conscience wouldn't allow me putting
Anybody else in harms way of it so it was smashed to bits and binned.
Please learn from my mistakes and avoid this company NitroTek are no more helpful
Than a chocolate fireguard. You won't get your money back they are never wrong
Don't do repairs fob you off. (please read further description of them on previous
Offerings as this saga panned out)
Pay more and use a reputable model shop or company there are plenty out there.
You have been warned...
Prior to posting this review, I noticed a number of consumers had complained about the batteries and replacement parts (many of which always seem to be out of stock). There is plenty of truth in what other consumers say. As such, their feedback echoes my overwhelming discontent with Nitrotek as a company, and their products, so much so that I am in the throes of reporting them to Trading Standards.
If you are looking to purchase a remote control car, don't be sway for Nitrotek's advertising. Spend a little more money a get something that is going last and, importantly, something that you can easily obtain replacement parts for (as you'll need them).
I conclude by saying that, if you have a problem with a faulty part, Nitrotek representatives will always say that it's a user error because NitroTek have no intention of providing a replacement part; let alone have the replacement parts ever in stock. Ask yourself this, would you buy something from a company who tells you to get a replacement part from eBay? I think not.
Save your money and spare your friends and family members of a great deal of frustration. 'Do not buy anything from Nitrotek'. You have been warned.
I purchased an RC helicopter from this website for my young son for Christmas.
After charging it according to the instructions he was able to fly it on only 3 occasions before a fault developed and the battery was not supplying enough power to get airborne. I sent the suppliers an email expecting a prompt reply and eventually got one advising me that I would need a multimeter to test the battery and also the charger. I informed them I did not have one and then received another email telling me to borrow one because if I sent it back for repair it would cost me the transport costs and take up to 3 weeks to test and/or repair.
After several emails back and forth and no satisfaction I wrote a negative feedback review on a customer service review website and was then contacted by Nitrotek who told me NitroTek would send a battery by post if I removed the negative review. I agreed and have been waiting for 10 working days and according to Nitrotek it is the courier (Royal Mail) at fault.
Take my advice that although Nitrotek will send your order impressively quickly their customer service is practically non existent. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I would like to say that the customer service was very prompt in their response, however I was told in my case that this is how the product is delivered to them and there is nothing NitroTek can do to help rectify a manufacturing defect and or help towards a new shell for this car which is an additional £19.99. Factor this in when purchasing an ACME Condor RC Car
Hopefully I cab get the £5 discount offered for writing a review for this order number 130008749 which will go towards a new shell to make this a nice entry RC Car.
At least i will get to show my son how to mark out and cut a new shell
NitroTek are masively helpful in choosing a product. They ship it really quickly, but god help you if there is a problem.
I ordered a 1/5 scale truck and when it arrived the nightmare started. The paintwork was scratched and badly gouged in multiple areas.
The finish of the vehicle was shocking. The front bumper looked like it had been glued on with papermashe. The vehicle looked and smelled like it had been used. I took it to a reputable shop to have it checked out and the merchant confirmed it was a used vehicle after stripping it and looking at internal parts.
So at worst they are selling returned stock as new?
The vehicle had rust on its metal parts as well.
When I tried to return it they refused to handle the issue via telephone. Every communication has to be with their customer service department via email.
Multiple pictures were sent of the defects yet absolutely no recognition of the faults has been forthcoming.
Generic emails are their standard reply. They say they will resolve issues in 10 working days. So if you have a problem expect to be left in the dark at every turn and expect generic and worthless email responses.
This company is mortally bankrupt. They employ a tactic of pushing the limits of consumer law to their very extreme limits. My opinion is that they do this so if you ever have to return something again you would rather just settle for what you get than go through the absolute nightmare of dealing with them again.
A very effective tactic as I will never deal with them again.
I await them to put one foot wrong in this nightmare and the small claims court will be my first stop.
Letters are on route to PayPal and Oubodsman. This company is a joke. Don't go near them.
Good price and quick postage. However, my rc car does not work and you cannot phone up to speak to anyone. Instead a online ticketing system is used which means you have to wait up to 24rs for a response. The response was then not relevant to my car model and no different to what i had already read on the internet and mentioned in my original query. After replying I then have to wait an age for a reply back again hence a simple conversation could take days to complete. I then read the terms and I have to pay my own return postage which potentially will be refunded if nitrotek decide to do so.
Looking at review sites poor after sales care is a common theme so since I gave up waiting for another response I went to paypal and raised a complaint there. I immediately got an automated response from nitrotek with a credit memo, with the cheek to deduct an "adjustment fee" of £2.79. Not big money but the principle is shocking. In all, if you want any kind of after sales service avoid this company and pay a little extra from a local model shop. This is really annoying as I really like the look of the car but after sales service this bad just shouldn't happen in the 21st century.
UPDATE: it's now 21st August and I still have no refund. I was offered a Paypal refund of the initial money, but told them I would not close the dispute until my return postage cost is reimbursed. The transmitter was found to be faulty.
After 15 mins of the first run I had noticed that the front wheel wasn't on properly and this was affecting the control of the car. I immediately stopped and inspected. It seems that a screw connecting the steering mount to the steering hub was loose. Although I could put the screw back in it easily became loose again and become lost. So I took the car to a model shop for a replacement screw but was advised that the issue occurred because the steering hub had inadequate threading. A while later, when inspecting the car the dog bone dropped off the same wheel. I noticed some damage to it which must have been associated with the steering hub becoming loose.
So I contacted Nitrotek after sales support to tell them what had happened. I had requested a replacement steering hub, replacement dog bone and screw to fix the steering hub. At first all seemed well because NitroTek had sent me a replacement steering hub relatively quickly. However, after 2 weeks of communication, Nitrotek had decided that they would not send me a replacement dog bone because they claimed that the damage would not have occurred if I had followed the pre run checks. I put to them that I had done the check and that the damage was caused to the dog bone as a result of the faulty steering hub with insufficient threading for the screw. They continue to insist that the damage caused was my fault and keep refering to the pre run checks as an excuse not to provide the replacement parts. So I have had to order the replacement parts at my own expense direct from Nitrotek because you can't get them from anywhere else.
The after sales team are not interested in providing services under warranty and just want you to spend more money fixing the problem. I have saved them money because I could have insisted that the car is returned for them to fix. However I would not even trust them to return the car now after my experience with the after sales support. A real shame!
This is a hideous company to deal with, as other have said on many many review forums, avoid this company at ALL COSTS.
When something goes wrong NitroTek don't want to know, send you BS excuses to get out of there problems.
Bought a remote control car within 1 hour it had 4 failures, I asked for a full refund, they did not want to know until they had inspected it, it took 40 emails and 2 months to inspect it!
Then then blamed me for the failures!
They refused to refund me, lying about the condition of the car, and how long I had it for, before sending back.
I had to go through Paypal to get a refund, and threaten Small Claims Court, I will also be reporting them to Trading Standards.
If they wont give you your money back go through Paypal, and Trading Standards.
Horrendous company, Read the awful reviews
AVOID-AVOID-AVOID-AVOID-AVOID-AVOID-AVOID-AVOID
Delivery was efficient. But Day 2 the item failed.
Trying to get the item returned was an absolute nightmare. Even then NitroTek try to fob me off that a technician needs to inspect and report before the next course of action is decided. At this point I reminded them of the Distance Selling Laws which apply here in the UK and that I am entitled to a full refund within 14 days of ordering which this was. If they ignore this there are several options to me which will be considered
