I like a lot of people, signed up to use the $0.95 one time trial. A few days later, Spokeo stole 24.95 from my account. When I called and demanded a refund, he was very polite and nonchalant saying a refund of 9.95 would be sent back to my card. Upon throwing a massive fit I was told I would receive my full refund. Its been 5 days, no refund yet. Beware before using this site.

I was helping my parent fill out an application for Social Security. Spokeo could not remember the exact date they were married. I wanted to look it up just to be sure. I purchase the report and it gives information that I already know but not the wedding date, that was extra. I didn't want to spend even more money on it, I wanted just the report. What do they do? After 7 days they bill me for their monthly service. Because I didn't cancel in time, I get billed and cannot be refunded the entire amount. Monica did get me a partial refund but the no refund policy is so that they can sell single reports at a ridiculous amount of money.

These SOBs are in the business of ripping people off. Don't bother trying to figure out what Spokeo are charging you, because you stand a better chance of winning the lottery. Just stay away and avoid the hassle. As far as I knew, I was paying $1 for a search, which they charged me for. I believed to uncheck all the add-on boxes, but still got charged $25, even though it was obvious that I wasn't or didn't intend to use the service for more than the initial. IT'S A SCAM! STAY AWAY! DON'T CHANCE IT! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!

I bought a membership on april10,2021. I called the company for a refund within an hour to ask for a refund. This however was my problem. I'm a guy in my fifties and not the best at using a computer or the very latest up to date technology. I found spokeo customer service to be very friendly and helpful.
I'm in the process of receiving a full refund.
Based on my experience, I would very likely recommend a friend to try their service.
It's not the fault of spokeo, I should have made learning new technologies more of a priority.

I would have gave you a zero star because y'all been lying to people all these years spoken s*** yo. Y'all took a dollar from my account and knew you didn't have no damn evidence of what I was looking for you lying son of a b****** I hope you rot in hell soon Spokeo need to take you offline as a source of searching a charging people a dollar you getting f****** over spokeo must be on by some Caucasians cuz you know y'all are dirty and your thieves and liars.

I signed up for 7 day trail at certain price. I then on the same day sent email to Spokeo to cancel subscription services. Next I find a charge of $24.95 billed to my PayPal account. I call, explain myself and the end outcome is "we can't give a full refund since it has already been billed, but we will send you 9.98 and you can use the service for the remainder of the month subscription. This is modern day theft, and I will never use Spokeo again. Been Verified is your competitor and will have my business in the future.

Wish I'd looked here first... I paid for a. 95 1 time search and know I was conscious as to whether it was a one-time or trial and then you'll be billed sort of thing, I chose the one-time option with intention. This morning my bank statement had a $24.95 charge. I called to request a refund and was told Spokeo could only refund $9.95. I begged, immediate circumstances are such that every penny matters and that they wouldn't budge, so not cool. Not like I waited a week, I called the morning it hit my bank. Not happy. They suck.

I needed to speak with customer care regarding my account. I usually dread these conversations as the person helping me is not really helpful. Jessica was my customer care representative and she blew me away with her professionalism and her true care for me, the customer. She took care of every detail and need that I had and was so very pleasant. At the end of our conversation I sure to let her know how much she was appreciated. Best customer care since... ever. 5 stars for her. Way to go Spokeo.

I should have checked Spokeo out prior to wasting what I thought was a $1.00 until I was billed automatically billed $25 for a the next month. I contacted Spokeo the day the charge posted and tried to get my money back. Spokeo would not cancel as of that day. They billed me to the end of the month and refunded $9.95.
To make matters worse, they reported my person as living but was in fact dead a few years

This site is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. While it doesn't necessarily break your wallet (95 cents to get a report and an additional 50 cents to download a PDF copy), this site provides information so generic, you can easily find it with a simple google search. Pretty much the only information you'll get out of this website, is the location of the area code when you use it to look up numbers that called you, you literally get nothing else out of this website.

1.00 search ends up draining your bank account in the future - sick PR stunt - shut it down! Super scam in action here. Probably run from some shady spot in some foreign country. Customer service is good though :) Happy to cancel the subscription if you catch on in time... - you'll be out 25.00 either way - 1.00 promise or not. (Scam is this - pay 1.00 and you authorize them to sign you up without your consent - but you give consent with the 1.00 promise - InSaNiTy at it's best) The data Spokeo gather is like trash - it's useless and several years behind the times. Grew up with law enforcement/investigations - this is horrible unless you like fake news. If someone is an internet whore, you might get a tiny bit of useful information. Otherwise it's like subscribing to "National Enquirer" LOL

Imma say this... if it wasn't for spokeo my dumb would still be with a cheating dog... I had an issue one time with billing. I called told them issue the helped. Reps no matter when I called very helpful Spokeo all address me professional... only issues I need them to update information get more current changes... I had another free service I used sometimes it was a lil more current. But all in all Spokeo wins hands down... thanks again. My divorce final. I've moved on & now dating. So Spokeo I will be in touch cause I don't have time for surprises in the dating scene. Okkk. Sending all your reps peace prosperity patience and wellness

I used this service. I was provided with useful information. However, the way the billing read, I was signing up for a one time service, not a subscription. Nonetheless, I was billed twice more and my credit card did not protect me. When I tried to cancel, I could not get logged on to cancel. Moreover, despite Spokeo indicating that I would receive an email to reset my password, these emails never came. The customer service ultimately connected and I received a partial refund for one of the two months billed. Yes, a case could be made that I did not pay close enough attention to the "Free 7 - day trial" which then gets billed monthly if you do not cancel. However, this is strikes me as a shady practice and I encourage any user of this service to use it with wide open eyes.

Spokeo will offer you a search for 95 cents and then automatically charge you $24.95 for membership after a weeklong free trial. Notification of this impending charge is buried at the bottom of the email receipt for the 95 cents. However, I did find that if you harass them enough, (I contacted them twice) Spokeo will give you a full refund. They have apparently done the same for others.

I went to spokeo to look up one number. I had no intention of signing up for regular service and was on the lookout for any indication that was the case. I found a place where I could pay 95 cents for one lookup, apart from any lengthy obligation. It was NOT part of a trial period or anything else. Sites like this are known for signing people up for services Spokeo did not want, so I read every single word twice over, making sure that I was only buying one lookup and not committing anything more.

7 days later I was told they billed paypal 24.95, and would do so monthly. When I called them they kept repeating "did you cancel your service?" they told me I signed up for their service and my trial period had ended. I am not an idiot. I know how to read. I am alert to this precise kind of scam and did NOT make a mistake. They took my one Paypal payment and used the info to sign me up for a service I did not want. Utterly dishonest. Paypal is dealing with legal issues, meanwhile, I strongly suggest you find another company for your info

I thought I paid $. 95 for one search of a name. I declined membership etc. I received notification on my phone that I would be billed $. 95... I forgot about it. This month, checking over my credit card account, I discovered charges each month for $24.95 going back 6 months! I called to complain... the receptionist said she would cancel my subscription but no refund possible. I demanded to talk to a supervisor and I would sue them for fraud. She had me hold, came back two min later and said Spokeo would refund me $75. Of the $150. They scammed... I took it, but they must be making millions off this fraud!

I signed up and paid for a Spokeo report of myself. Imagine my surprise to learn I have a middle name! And relatives I have never heard of or met, even though Spokeo lived with me!
I contacted Spokeo to have these and other errors corrected, but was told there was no way of doing that. The only option was to delete my name and all (bogus) information from their website. So of course I did. In my experience, Spokeo is an irresponsible, potentially dangerous clown show.

I used this company once to look for an email address for a former teacher of mine. I paid 0.95 or something like that and the info Spokeo provided was useless. I did not know I was then enrolled at $24.95 ongoing membership which was removed from my bank account. I have just cancelled, but it remains to be seen if the $24.95 charge is refunded. I do not recommend this company.

I did a search on myself and was amazed at how much was WRONG from where I lived, my names used - One was someone else, to family, to EVERYTHING had WRONG UNTRUE things. I know now NOT to depend on anything Spokeo say about anyone. I feel sorry for anyone that missed out, was turned down or not gotten a hold of because of the UNTRUE FACTS that were never questioned. SHAME ON A BACKGROUND SEARCH COMPANY THAT DOESN'T MAKE SURE THEY ARE TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT ANYONE. USER BEWARE!

The person I was searching for turned out to have died in 1995 which Spokeo did NOT find--I learned this later on Ancestry.com. Since I could find very little actual information, I cancelled within 24 hours and was still billed for a contracted service. I called the company and to their credit the representative was quick and professional and refunded the billing amount and ensured that my service was actually cancelled. Would not recommend in any way.

This is the typical case of highway robbery. You sign up for 1 (one) search for which you pay with your credit card. Small print apparently commits you to a 7 day "free" subscription, but you don't know that. Then after the 7 days are over, your credit card is charged $24.95 for one month of searches. The searches are very limited and sometimes not accurate or updated, in those cases when you do have the correct information. You basically get a phone number and some other basic information. When you want to go beyond that basic information you will be charged an outrageous amount. What happened to the old fashioned white pages?

I paid $0.95 for a single search only to discover a few weeks later that an amount of $24.95 has additionally been taken via my Paypal account. There is no clear or obvious mention of having to join a subscription service on their main page whereby this lack of transparency contravenes the UK and EU Consumer subscription laws. I have asked Paypal to reverse the payment and have notified my bank who have advised will back me up on this. I have also emailed Spokeo our laws regarding subscriptions and my demand for full return of unauthorised transfer of funds.

The name of a company or workplace are only letters on the side of a building. It is the people inside the building that give these letters meaning. Buying a winning racehorse requires endless research. That kind of research is also necessary in filling our own employment opportunities. One bad selection done without due diligence through research and personal interviews can unleash a pandemic within HR that reflects in our bottom line. Spokeo provides clean HR data and research necessary to verify and hire.

I had lost contact with a former professor and friend whom I knew from the mid 1970's to the mid 1980's. Through Spokeo I was able to find a phone number listed under his name in the Washington, D. C. area. I tried the number and was thrilled to hear his voice after all of these years (35 years to be exact). He was also very happy to hear from me.

Spokeo claimed to have a full report for me to read to a signed up for a trial period. Then the report was blank. I canceled my trial and had a confirmation of cancelation, but was then charged for a membership. This is unacceptable and not a way to get customers wanting to use your business. Your company is trash. You're liars and thieves. Claiming you have information to get people to give you money then reporting nothing. Then STEALING their money when they don't want your services anymore.

I appreciate this company working with me to provide an experience above my expectations for a dispute clarification that I felt needed to be resolved. Spokeo went well above an beyond my expectations to treat me more than fair and provide a win, win situation in which i would not hesitate to use their services again, or refer others to their business. It did take some communication, but they were willing to work with me, and that is what I have come to expect from a solid company.

I paid 95 cents for a limited 7 day trial offer. The information Spokeo gave me was totally $#*!ing WRONG. That was three or four days ago. Today I received a notice from my bank that they attempted to charge my credit card 24.95 for a year long membership that I NEVER $#*!ING AUTHORIZED! Going to their chat section on their website I was cut off by a $#*! named Jessica when I accused them of $#*!ing fraud! DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THESE FRAUDULENT COCKSUCKERS. They will try to $#*! you anyway they can. Bottom line... $#*! SPOKEO AND ALL OF THEIR CRIMINAL $#*! EMPLOYEES!

I used this website to find my family when, I was sold on the 95 cent charge.
Spokeo stated that after a month I would be charged a fee after my trial expired...
I used it a week ago.
I literally only have 10 dollars left on my bank account.
I do understand that this year has been dentrimental to the economy, I'm feeling it in my stomach myself...
But that doesn't justify taking money out of the account without asking first.
I barely make a living.
This joke of a company seems to do this to a lot of people.
I had to buy a new phone and already owe money asking it from a friend.
Never use this website, I'm surprised that with it's reputation, it is still up.
I would rate this zero stars or NEGATIVE FIVE STARS if I could.

The Bad Guys canceled my bank card and had a new card sent to their casa. I caught it when my card came up invalid. The bank had an address for the destination. I googled the address. There I was looking at an apt. Building. I add who lives at the residence and up popped Spokeo. This company's data bank is top notch. I t gave ne everything about each person who lived there detailed. It was worth its weight in Gold Thanks Spokeo JR Ca.
